He's a very friendly cat, but we just haven't mastered the art of his squirminess.Jeana does a great job with him. She's consistent, and friendly, and kind, and efficient... She gives us recommendations on Humphrey's general well-being, and provides insights when we need them.It's super comforting for us to know that she's in our neighborhood.Would highly recommend.

After his grooming with Jeana, he is always super soft and fluffy, he smells great, and all of his ear buildup is cleaned out. He barely sheds for at least a month afterward. Best of all, he is always happy to see Jeana and is relaxed when I pick him up. Jeana clearly does an amazing job with him! My cat and I both love this place :)

I would never patronize her business.

Olivia Crouch: I brought my long haired cat in for a much needed grooming. She had mats and her coat was oily. I could not have done it myself so I brought her to Jeana’s. It’s been a month since my cat got groomed and I still notice how clean she is. The groom costed $120. She smelled amazing, nails clipped, had all her mats removed, and was shaved around her butt to keep her clean. Jeana did an amazing job, my cat is happier and so am I.

Jeana was very thorough and went the extra mile to bring up possible issues and also explain what she did and why. The premises is clean and cat friendly. HiGHLY RECOMMENDED. We have gone to 2 other local and 1 not really local to have Max cleaned up, and Jeana (by a long shot) is the best!

I have been giving my business to Jeana for a year and my dog knowingly has minor reactive issues, that Jeana consistently would remind me I should train him better for. As a dog owner, you know your dog is everything to you, and you’d like for your groomer to be respectful and professional, to understand the needs of your dogs, as we pay good money as customers. Jeana refused to take my dog after loyally coming to her business, when she failed to keep an appt or let us know due to snow conditions she wouldn’t be open that day. Then, when we tried to reschedule, she thought we were “upset with her” and didn’t want to keep our dog’s schedule with her, and that we should look elsewhere for grooming needs. It’s really disappointing to see people treat another like this, and I highly recommend you think through where you are taking your dogs and cats for grooming services etc. Businesses too often take advantage of your kindness and don’t realize what good customer service is anymore.

Haley Carter: I cannot say enough about how incredible Natasha is.I have a 2 year old Samoyed. Admittedly, I let him swim more than I should have in the summer. I spoke with many groomers about how to get rid of his matting and they all said I needed to shave him (which is horrible for a Samoyed's coat). Natasha was the first one who looked at him from a more technical standpoint and put in the work and time to fix it.Since then, he has gone back to Natasha about 6 times. Every single time he comes out looking incredibly beautiful, no undercoat, and smells amazing. Now we are running into the issue that his adult coat has not come in so his coat is very cotton-y and mattes easily. She is extremely helpful and patient through the process. Which is not easy with him- he is very opinionated and outspoken. And shockingly, when I took him this morning he ran right in so clearly he doesn't get too stressed there!Yes, she does not always answer her phone but it is because she is in that room with the dogs solely working on them all day. She doesn't pawn off her work to others. She will give you her cell so you can text (which works very well). Also, what she charges is MUCH less than I expected (especially for the Lexington area) and honestly not what she is worth. My cheap husband always makes sure we tip her generously. HIGHLY recommend.

C P: Horrible experience!!!! I paid $60 for grooming/wash and after 4 hours my puppy was the same as dirty and badly trimmed. Please avoid this place as they are not okay to hear a bad feed back. Daisy the “groomer” and the front desk receptionist insulted me and slammed the door as I was exiting. My puppy is now terrified of the water because of this horrible place and service. Avoid at all cost!!!!!!! Daisy and LaundroMutt employees DO NOT REPLY BACK with and explanation to this review, unless you are going to refund me the $60 you charged me, as you can check your cameras how poorly you and groomer behaved towards me. By the way — I brought in the vaccine book and the receptionist told me not worry and to put it away. Really ???? It was a sign that I should’ve payed attention to.

They walked us through the 3 step process and Stacy was a lifesaver to convince our dog to get up the ramp with a towel! Julian Orenstein: Buyer BewareIf you take a look at other reviews for hypoallergenic dogs (doodles/poos etc.) you'll see a consistent trend. After you drop your pup off, they will call you about an hour later telling you that the matting in your dogs hair is too severe and everything needs to come off. What makes this even more frustrating is that you'll notice the same trend occurs when it relates to "behavior" during the bathing process. This of course comes with an additional $15 dollar fee that cannot be disputed because they're the only people who are in the room. To be clear I have an 11lb cavapoo, she has had 4 major surgeries and every vet I've ever been to says she's a great patient so it can be hard to believe that the discomfort of a bath can cause turmoil for a professional.So, just be aware that while I have always respected and appreciated the staff on human level (nice people) I cannot recommend using this groomer. There's a reason why the the 5 star reviews seem so generic and the negative reviews are incredibly specific.I never want to intentionally hurt a small locally owned business as here in Somerville we champion and support them as much as we can. However, having the exact same negative experience 3 times is very disappointing.They will likely try and push this review back on me and say that the customer is at fault. However....If I had a client who specifically cited this experience happening when walking in and said "If you have to shave her all the way down, please let me know because I would prefer not to get any services done" only to call them back in an hour, telling them that you owe $65 out of a $90 total charge for a bath...well thats ludicrous. When I asked them if I could be met halfway they said no, all i could do was pick her up and do the cut myself or bring her elsewhere.To their point, next time I will be bringing her elsewhere.

Lesley Ayala: We LOVED our golden retriever's haircut and amazing smell. It took us a while to find a good groomer for our furbaby. Tahnia Cruz exceeded our expectations!! We have always had a positive experience, except one time with a groomer that couldn't groom our golden and left him somewhat wet. However, the owner, Theresa, called us immediately to apologize and did not hesitant to offer a free service done by her specifically to fix the issue. Theresa is always available for customers and calls back quickly. The staff is all friendly and my Golden is always looking and smelling wonderful! Hard to find an affordable groomer you can trust.

This should be expected given that she’s a puppy but the groomers were unable to do anything other than trim her nails and give her a shower - 60$. Looking past the fact that they didn’t give my puppy any treats to calm down, they do not seem to have done much else to help her grooming anxiety. This wouldn’t bother me if it wasn’t for various other reviews about this groomer which indicate that they often avoid catering to dogs personalities in favor of charging 60$ for a bath and reschedule.Edit: I recommend anyone a modicum of compassion for their furry friend to book a grooming at more established and skilled groomers such as Elliot’s house or laundromutt.Edit2: I was able to get my puppy groomed at Laundromutt the VERY NEXT DAY without a single problem/incident so it seems that pet spa truly is inept at dealing with puppies/anxious dogs

Alex Schmidt: Our ~65lb lab mix has recently gotten problematic with us trimming/grinding his nails, and we were advised to go to a groomer to handle it while we work on training him because his nails have gotten very long. We made an appointment on the phone along with a general bath and grooming and mentioned that he gets aggravated by his nails but the person making the appointment said they can handle him (we mentioned his size/weight). When we picked him up, AFTER having paid already, the worker here told us that they were unable to cut his nails because he was nipping at their hands, and that he was "not great" with the brush either. At no point did they call us to tell us that his nails weren't done or to discuss any alternatives, we basically paid $55 for a bath. When we got home there was so much fur coming off of him we are doubtful that he even got brushed. We are really disappointed that a professional groomer cant handle a medium sized dog to trim his nails when that was entirely the point of us bringing him there (use a leash or muzzle if he's nipping?) The only plus is that his fur is very soft and clean and smells great. It seems like this place is more oriented towards smaller dogs, and they are not equipped or prepared to go the extra mile to handle lager if they get fussy. Will not be going back.

neha p: I had read the reviews before booking, but was really surprised by the customer service. I will say, the groomers did a decent job in a short period of time, but the overall service was awful. I dropped my dogs off at 11 this morning. I called around 2 and the receptionist said the groomers were running late and that the dogs most likely wouldn’t be ready until after close and that they hadn’t even started working on them. I got a call around 3:30 saying the dogs were done, which was a surprise since I was initially told it would take four hours. I left and got there a few minutes after 4. While trying to find parking, I got a rude call for the receptionist asking if I’m coming because they are closed. I went inside and she quickly rushed me out and was still quite rude. I understand that she might have been upset because she needed to leave, but if you expect people to pick up their dogs before you close, actually try to finish on time and give enough notice so that they can get there.

I was running late than expected. But he did take my puppy in. He never asked anything about the puppy and I was confused. I tried to mention that he is puppy and it is his first session. But he was not at all interested. I wanted him to keep his look ,but just trim it all around to keep him comfortable in summer. When I picked him up I was blown away by his look,not in a good way!! He got a complete a poodle cut !! For a first time grooming you are not supposed to do that and I thought a professional place will do know that...he looked so puny after losing his beautiful puppy coat. He got a carppy cut in his tail as well...I am so heartbroken to see him ...so is all our family....

Dani Williams: I made an appointment one week ago to bring my cat in to be groomed. They said they only do cats on Wednesday’s and told me to come in at 9:30am. I wasn’t asked for any contact info or any info at all for that matter. I moved recently so I was trying to find a groomer closer to our new home. I arrived a little early and it was clear that appointments were based on the honor system because they had no information to prove I had called last week. I was then told that it was a busy day and he wouldn’t be done with my cat until 4pm or so and that he would give me a call and had me write my phone number on a sticky note and attached it to the carrier. He took my cat and I stepped out the door but I just didn’t feel right. I went back in to pick him up immediately. I wouldn’t be leaving him alone, in a cage, in an unfamiliar place, with no access to food, water, or ability to use a litter box for 7+ hours! If they are busy, they are busy, I get it. But instead of taking everyone’s animal at 9am and being overwhelmed by how busy it is, as well as overwhelming the animalwith that stressful environment for so long, maybe they could take a different approach to their booking and find a way to be a little less impersonal. I left and drove all the way to my usual place in Arlington to make an appointment there where they actually care what your pets name is and an appointment time means an appointment!

I'm not sure why they didn't tell me that originally. When I pointed out that I didn't get a quote ahead of time even though I asked, instead of apologizing for the miscommunication (and potentially winning a new customer), they treated me like I was stupid (and lost a potential client with referrals). Poor business etiquette. But nice haircut.

Emma Rittweger: I strongly recommend going somewhere else to get your dog groomed. I should’ve known to steer clear when I was booking the appointment over the phone. I was not asked what kind of cut I was looking for, what the temperament of my dog was, or proof of any vaccinations. When I arrived they told me that my dog was severely matted and he would have to be shaved. He did have some matting on his legs and ears after staying with a sitter for a week but it was nothing a skilled groomer shouldn’t have been able to handle without completely shaving down to the skin. The original cost of the groom was $140 which for a bath and a shave seems outrageous. When I arrived to pick him up they said that due to the heavy matting it would cost an extra $40 totaling to $180 which makes absolutely no sense since they just shaved it all off and didn’t preform any dematting service. When I got him home I was able to see that he was completely uneven and had a giant bald spot on his face. For such a high price I feel like it is unacceptable to have this as your end result.

The staff at JFP couldn’t have been more accommodating and loving towards my sweet Ghillie. They understand that our pups are family to us and when they’re being groomed they treat them like part of their own family. I now have a young energy-filled German Shepherd puppy and they are fantastic with him. I have moved closer to the city but continue to return to Just Fur Paws because they are simply the BEST!

Lin Ao: We took our 1 year old golden retriever mix pup to Robin because we have had the hardest time trimming his nails at home. Robin was so kind and patient with him and she was able to get his nails all taken care of in less than 10 minutes. We were worried that going to the groomer might be a traumatizing experience and Robin certainly eased our worries. Our dog was happy afterwards and we were relieved to finally have his nails trimmed properly. Robin was also very accommodating with scheduling and fit us in with short notice. We will definitely be going to her again in the future!

joel sheriff: They are fine, treat our baby very well but the cut this time around was a bit erratic, whiskers and eyelashes were both cut. Her lashes haven't been touched since she was 22 weeks old. She's now 8 1/2 i hope those lashes grow back. They also left her bangs uneven some sap still left on the bottom of he feet. They are going to have to do better to keep my business.

Anuj Dang: Been coming here for a couple of years for cat nails and sanitary grooming/trim. Robin and her husband are gentle and sweet with our very shy cat. They do cats early Saturday morning and are awesome! It's pretty cheap too. My only gripe is that they have never picked up the phone when I've called to see if they were open.

K Fishman: Our dog has separation anxiety despite all our efforts to train him during the pandemic. We started bringing him to city tails in 2020 to help him socialize as a puppy. When the pandemic started to lift a little, we had to rely on city tails more for day care and they have always kept a good eye out for our dog Deku. Anytime there was a question of him acting not himself (like if he may have been sick or not right) they communicate it to us same day. If I ever have a question about a scratch or a mark on him, I talk to them about it and they make sure to keep an eye on him. Steve and Kelsey know Deku and his personality and care for him as if he was their own dog. They are always so friendly and kind. They take the dogs out every day to the park on Faneuil street (I think weather dependent) so they can get fresh air and play outside.This past week we had to last minute bring him in every day instead of twice/week and they were very accommodating. We appreciate everything they do and the love and attention they give to Deku!

Cassandra Hardick: My brother took his mini doodle here two weeks ago and she came home with a literal black eye. They apparently tried to hide it because her fur was longer over her eyes and covered the bruise. What’s very concerning is that they did not say why or how it happened, just sent her home and charged him full price. If they would have said a brush accidentally hopped her and explained it would have been okay, but my brother will not be going back. The eye was bruised and red and she had never had an issue at the groomers before and it makes me question what they are actually doing behind closed doors. I’ve never in my life seen a dog with a black eye. After a vet visit and some eye drops, it turned into a very costly grooming visit.

Anne Carey: Really love these folks. Our previous Springer was traumatized by a different groomer and panicked each time we tried to have him groomed. When we found City Tails, they had me stay with him and he was able to be bathed and groomed. We used them for the last years of his life and they were always kind and gentle with him, and he looked great! Now we have a young Springer who is super chill about grooming. We leave him for a daycare -groom day and he gets to play with the other dogs, go to the dog park, and is clean and tidy at pick up.

Elaine Cortés: I usually bring my cat to a grooming place that specializes more in cats. Because they are more connected, have an understanding, and are compassionate. I trusted them with my cat. They avoided cutting fur off his midsection because of his loose skin which is understandable. What I want to know is why did they forget the part in telling me they accidentally nicked his skin?! I’m very disappointed. He doesn’t smell like he was washed, still shedding more than usual, also has dry patches towards his back. Which he hasn’t had before.Never in my years of taking him to different groomers did he have this type of issue. I had a gut feeling that he wasn’t supposed come for his appointment. Sadly I know why. Due to their poor negligence to an elder cat. I will not be coming here anymore. They deserve no stars!!! Idk how they do with dogs but I could see that they don’t really care too much for cats by judge of character. To groomers in general .If you don’t have any desire to give equal respect to both cats as much as you do for dogs. DO NOT BOTHER TRYING TO INCLUDE CAT GROOMING IN YOUR TITLE OF WORK.

Charla Rudisill: I love this place. My 19 year old ragdoll needed a hair cut. She was so matted. She had never been professionally groomed before and I had let my grooming of her “go” for a few years because she hates it so much. The owner and her assistant were so gentle and good with my cat. They were patient and both women worked on her together, holding her in various positions to more effectively shave her as stress free as possible. My ragdoll got a lion cut and does not panic lick herself when I pet her near her matted parts. I cannot express my gratitude to the owner and her helper and give them 5 big stars!!!!
