Business Copy Associates - a UBEO Company: what do users think?
Cheryl Garrity: The technician not only arrived within a few hours of our request for a new toner, but he did a little cleaning and checking of the machine while he was here to prevent further problems.
Sheila Robinson: The team at Business Copy Associates are always very prompt when we need service. The technicians are very courteous and go above and beyond to help us with our copy/printing needs.
Monique Chysna: Our service technician, Billy, is wonderful! Very responsive and you can tell that fixing our issues is important to him.
A Bright Beginning: The technicial was such a pleasure! He was quite helpful and solved the issue in a timely manner. He also was safe and was wearing a mask! He also cleaned the areas of the copy machine that needed a little TLC.
Barry Carnes: I bought a Minolta C3850 three years ago for $3500.00 or thereabouts. I purchased the maintenance contract which includes all the ink I need and service calls. They have always taken excellent care of my needs. If I need ink one phone call and it arrives in two days. This unit certainly beats the desktop units by a mile.
Anthony DeMarco: I've had a relationship with BCA for over 8 years, always great, always take care of my printing needs. Today I called in to renew a contract and settle a bill, I got screamed at and compared to the cost of lunch. I've never felt so disrespected by a vendor.
David Emerson: I've been leasing all of my copiers from BCA for over nine years, The owner, Bill, always gives me great pricing and flexible terms. The service is the best I've ever seen ... always same day and sometimes the same hour!
Anne Robertson: We are a small non-profit and we leased a copier from BCA in Nov. 2011. Let's say we are willing to ignore the exceptionally rude demeanor (we have encountered one nice service tech in two years), a sales manager who literally yelled at my admin when she complained that the copier invalidated our IP address with our website host, and their casting 100% blame on us for the many times the copier needs repair. Maybe we're just that inept and are poor specimens of human beings.Forget all that. Let's look at the lease they gave us to finance our copier. As the level of complaints about their service rose to a fever point in our office, we came to discover the deep deception involved in the equipment lease they presented to us.I have spent today researching the nature of this horrid lease. Not only will we eventually pay over $7,000 for a $2500 machine. Not only does the lease stipulate that there is absolutely no reason that would allow us to cancel or get out of the lease. Not only does the lease say that we are solely responsible for keeping the machine in perfect working condition with no warranties whatsoever. They knowingly gave us what is known as a PRR Lease (purchase, return, renewal). Aside from all the other completely horrible and one-sided provisions in the lease (yeah, bad on us for signing), THE LEASE STIPULATES THAT THE FINANCE COMPANY MAY CONTINUE TO AUTOMATICALLY RENEW OUR LEASE AS LONG AS THEY PLEASE. We can try to comply with onerous terms for a return of the equipment, but even if we do all that, THEY HAVE TO AGREE TO STOP A RENEWAL.The parent company of the financing agent, CIT Finance LLC in Jacksonville, FL, is based in Utah, which is known for its deceptive equipment leasing practices. The lease specifically states that it is governed by the state of Utah, where PRR leases are perfectly legal.Do not deal with this company. If you find you must get equipment from them, pay in cash. Do not sign a lease agreement. I believe they are complicit in the deceptive leasing practice. If they had checked that we had the option to purchase the equipment for $1 at the end of our lease, the finance company could not do the automatic renewal. But of course they didn't. They checked that we could buy it (after already paying 3x the cost) for "fair market value."If you do contract with them for service, expect rude, condescending attitudes and know you will be blamed for every issue that comes up. And even when the machine crashes your entire office the day of an important meeting, you won't even get a call back until the next day.Stay. Away.
Rick Reade: Our experience leasing a copier from this company was a horrible experience. The machine's feeder was defective, and for the one-year that we had the warranty in effect they either tried to fix it and failed, or tried to somehow blame us by saying there was no problem. Then the warranty ran out, after we had to pay to have them to fail, so it sat in our office basically unused for about a year while I used smaller desktop machines that worked great. They refused to replace the machine. Then the lease was finally up, and they wouldn't take it back. We had to pay to ship it to Connecticut. What a joke. Never, ever lease a machine from this company. They refuse to accept responsibility or take any steps to assure a positive experience. Stay away.
