I bought a beautiful Underwood from him almost 5 years ago and it's still going strong.But I came in more recently for a Smith Corona that I picked up at a flea market with carriage and typing issues. He worked his magic in about 5 minutes. In this case I was very lucky the issue was simple. But he didn't even charge me!! Now that's great customer service. I'm ecstatic because this typewriter is a bit more mobile than my Underwood.

I knew next to nothing walking in, and after an hour I walked out with a history lesson, a lesson in typewriters, some interesting tidbits on local authors and poets, and a feel for numerous different machines (because Tom insists his customers try many different ones to find the right match). And, of course, my own typewriter! I’ve been talking about my great Saturday ever since. Tom’s enthusiasm and passion is a joy and you can’t help sharing it. Cathy: Once in a while you hit the jackpot and I sure did finding Cambridge Typewriter Co.. My fragile 95 year old father;s typewriter stopped working after 35 years. He was very dismayed as he continues to use it often with writing projects and the like. I brought the typewriter to Tom on Columbus Day. His shop looks like a typewriter museum! It is full of all types and vintages of typewriters. He diagnosed my dad's best friend's problem, fixed it, cleaned it, lubricated it AND he even found an old pair of my dad's tweezers inside which he had used to try and repair it on his own!
