Swiss Watchmaker: what do users think?
Alexis Frobin: My experience is similar to the other one star reviews. I brought my watch in for a battery change (which took two hours), was charged extra for waterproofing, and my watch stopped working by the next day. Went someplace else and it turns out it was a dead battery. Glad I didn’t pay for further tests to see what might be wrong with my watch.
Leon Grinis: Pleasant folks, allowed me in by giving me a face mask when I didn’t have one (I visited several months ago). However, they broke my late grandfathers watch upon repairing it, after I had deliberately explained to them the watch’s sentimental significance. This was later confirmed by another watch repair store verbally and in writing stating the lid was put on backwards, breaking the dial.I did call to explain that the “fixed” watch they returned to me had a broken dial but they insisted on bringing it in in order to assess the damage. I ultimately went to the other aforementioned store since I didn’t want any other potential complications after no concessions were offered from this location. This cost me an additional $60.To be fair, this watch mishap was only part of the service I had asked for, including another watch repair and two strap replacements, which were all completed efficiently and effectively. However, breaking a watch I had expressed was epically significant, was upsetting.
Megan Bilodeau: My fiance came here as his watch was slightly too large. He just needed one link taken out. After one week of absolutely no communication, my fiance reached back out to see if it was done, which it was. However, they took 3 links out instead of one. They put one back in, but the pin between the remaining 2 links is completely mangled. Additionally, there is a scratch on the side of the watch that was not there previously. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Andrew Marco: Very expensive, very unprofessional, very disappointed with the entire experience.
Andrew Jannetti: 50 dollars for a diagnosis and quote for a broken face? I think i blind deaf person could tell you the diagnosis for free. This place is a rip off. Always has been, always will be.
Mike Maggio: Very nice people but $45 to replace a battery on any watch is ridiculous!!!
Jillian Murphy: I had a wonderful experience, and the people working there are kind, generous, and helpful. I will definitely be back for future watch repairs and purchases!
Ryan Duncombe: I took an automatic watch in for general service in March 2022. They were unable to get it working and said they'd need to send it to a specialist, which is fine. But it's now October and I've been unable to get a report on the status of my watch despite calling/texting regularly for the past 8 months. At this point I've simply asked for my watch back repeatedly to no effect. Pretty unacceptable levels of service that have driven me to writing this review, which I didn't want to do.
Parker Siddall: Purchased a watch from their online website for local pickup. Upon arriving to pickup the watch they were unable to locate the item in the store. I informed the associate that if they could find the watch to give me a call, if not, go ahead and refund my purchase online. I ultimately had to follow up with them and request a refund for my purchase as they didnt end up having the item.
Audiobooks Fun for Kids Playing Learning English: asked about this in the photo....laughed atalso very very different staff.. not that welcome sign over at TOURNEAU...if u can avoid ..it might be the best.. or look into it yourself and let me know back...curious...Tourneau would be great or just CVS for the battery
david kess: not sure that this is the place...if you are to into an investment grade timepiece or to fix other than an overpriced battery ..not sure if this place has the confidence of pduggan.comor European Watch
Vahideh Ansari Hosseinzadeh: Very pricey. They charged $35 to replace a battery for a watch which costs $100! Customer service wasn’t good, you can’t even dare to ask a question! I’m not going to go there again.
Godfrey Martin: Tom was just great . He understood what the problem was in my T Tissot touch watch. In less than a week the watch was done and is back to normal . Honest to the core. . I found a brilliant place.
Jorge Garcia: When I dropped off a watch for new battery, they said they'd text me soon when it was ready. Closed at 7, however, & texted me next day. Disappointing, since I'd had better experiences here before. Haven't yet retrieved watch, so I can't comment on their work's quality this time.
Michael McCarthy: As a customer for over 20 years I reluctantly share my most recent experience. My watch has been there 3 weeks with no update of what is wrong with it after 7 calls. 2 messages for the owner remain unanswered. Responses like ‘it’s not ready yet’ and ‘we will text you’ and ‘we will call you back’ wear thin after the 7th time. Something has changed there and I’m not sure what it is but the customer service was amazing and now has effectively gone away. Battery replacements will probably still be fine but repairs…I’m going somewhere else where I feel valued as a customer.
prh stark: this is the worst "watchmaker" to which i've ever been (i've only been to 5, though) by far. i brought to them an oris. the crown of the stem fell off and i lost it. i went there for a new one. i ended up with the original stem with some fake crown glued (yes! super glue, CA or CYA was used to put on this not oris crown.) not cool. wrong. no real swiss would do that.
Claire T. Dinh: Professional with reasonable turnaround time. They replaced the crystal of my watch – my precious funny-looking Swiss-designed/made Slow watch that originally had "raised, extra hardened (K1) mineral glass with antireflective coating" – that was scratched. They walked through options for better materials with practically the same appearance. Will return here!
Humanfactor: I have been a watch collector for over 30 years. I have dealt with countless high-end watch stores all the way to the Mall watch Kiosk, and this store is the worst I have come across.Their service ability is quite poor as evident to an experience I have a couple of years ago in performing a small fix on a watch in which they couldn’t do the fix.Over the years I have learned to do a lot of servicing on my own watches, e.g. regulating the movement, changing bezels, adjusting bracelets, etc….Recently, I needed a certain size spring bar for the clasp I didn’t have and thought, this might be something that is not a difficult task for these guys. This is typically a complimentary service given by most stores to create good will for their customers or for a future customer. Not these guys. When I asked if they could provide me with this one spring bar, the manager (a heavy set older man with a beard, who was not a very friendly sort), blared out, “it will cost you $10 and you have to wait”. I asked how long and he blurted out “45 mins to an hour”.I had to laugh at this guy. He was there with his service guy, who was working on something, but this guy had really nothing to do and could have easily selected the right sized spring bar and snap it into the clasp in probably 30 seconds.I was really surprised at the man’s attitude and level of service for such a minor thing. I also notice these guys have really overpriced their low-end watches. The only thing Swiss in this store is the old guys hot chocolate. Do yourselves a favor and look for watches at Shoppers Crossing downtown and do it purely online. I should have known better to seek assistance from this store.
Caroline Werlang: Great quality, selection, and the best customer service around! Bought my first Mondaine from them a few years ago, and they have continued to have great prices and fast turnaround for any servicing needs (battery, band). Support a great local business!
Jennifer Lee: Customers beware! Try another jewelry store -- any other jewelry store -- before going here. I brought in a watch in for a simple battery replacement and the technician cracked the watch dial. The business refused to take responsibility, or even credit the cost of the battery replacement, which is a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of repairing the damaged dial. Not to mention they charged me more for the battery replacement than they quoted. Really sad to see this business putting the bottom line ahead of customers -- or even morals.
Jim Trick: I love this shop. A couple years ago they sold me a watch from Kronaby. The cool thing about the Kronaby is it looks like a beautiful, old school watch but its actually connected to my iPhone. Swiss Watchmaker looks like an old school watch shop, which they are, but they are also totally up to date on the coolest, newest stuff! I went in for a repair that they said would take an hour and half. In 45 minutes it was done and cheaper than I expected.
