Merrimack Valley Cardiology Associates, LLC: what do users think?
Katrina Simmons: My mother in law recently transferred her care from New Bedford. She unfortunately did not feel well cared for there. While waiting for her first cardiology appointment she had a cardiac event. I was able to get the advice of her cardiologist Dr Cullingford before she was even seen by him. She was then transferred to LGH for her procedure and was so impressed by the time Dr Cullingford took with her in her follow up. She had some follow up testing and was happily surprised when Dr Cullingford called her with results. Thank you Dr Cullingford for you very personable care!
Melma Lewis: It is sad that some people use these types of forums to release their own negative toxic energy. We are so lucky to have such wonderful cardiologists practicing in this community. A heart felt thank you to the doctors and NPs in this group who spend so much time caring for their patients. Hopefully, if you are looking at Google reviews, you understand that some people take pride in putting others down. That despite how hard you work, it may never be enough. Some people are broken to begin with and will never be happy.Since it seems anyone can write unfounded garbage on these Google review pages these days- I leave this heartfelt message. If you have a cardiac condition and are looking for a caring, knowledgeable cardiologist, I have witnessed first hand how wonderful this entire group is. You are in good hands here. Every single cardiologist who works here puts in 120%. Anyone who says otherwise is blind. Thank you for all you do.
Mary Derr: Dr. Cullingford is an exceptional cardiologist! I’m currently undergoing cancer treatment and recently received my first echocardiogram. I was so nervous, but Dr. Cullingford put my mind at ease. He was compassionate, informed, and delivered my results quickly. It’s clear that Dr. Cullingford is educated and experienced. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking cardiac care.
Aimee Vasse: Dr. Brian Cullingford is impersonal and frankly doesn't seem to care. He spent 2 mins total with me, cutting me off, and listening to nothing I had to say. He didn't even auscult my heart. He just referred me for a stress echo, and called it a day. It felt like classical medical gaslighting - here is a woman. Her cardiac symptoms are probably due to her anxiety, the end.I am a pro level cyclist, and I have severe patellofemoral OA, so I cannot run without knee pain. I therefore asked him if I could ride my compact cycling trainer for the test, to simulate the arrhythmias I had been feeling, but he refused and made me run. Furthermore, this test was a joke for me because I never have symptoms unless my heart rate hits 170+. It took me forever to even reach 150 bpm - I probably only hit the target, because of the pain in my knees. Then, by the time they had me on the table, my heart rate had dropped to 125. Useful, right? After this exercise in futility, I asked for a second opinion from another doc at this office, as this is the only office to which my PCP can refer me; I have an HMO, and it is very limiting. Anyway, the less-than-lovely receptionist told me they don't do second opinions unless I personally make an appt with Dr. Cullingford and ask him if it's okay to see another doctor. I then would have to come back, if approved, and meet with the new provider. Really? In what world is this acceptable?Avoid this practice, esp. Dr. Cullingford. He has the aura of a meathead who never made the varsity football squad in high school, and has since been eating consolation Doritos and French fries.
Bryanna Abboud: This practice does NOT take HIPPA guidelines seriously whatsoever. I have received multiple calls from this practice stating other patients names instead of asking to verify who they’re calling with even when I’ve ask to be taken off the call list as I am not a patient. As a healthcare worker this is sad to see in other practices, and when I informed the 10th person about this “Katy” at the office she rudely stated “fine I’ll just figure it out” and hangs up the phone. If my practice had invalid numbers in patient profiles and was continuing to have poor practices I would be more inclined to hear others complaints especially those who are affiliated with the same setting. Hoping the office manager or someone gets everything straightened out over there.
Leo Lambert: The staff were very friendly and professional. Dr. Jo was absolutely delightful. I actually had a an awesome visit which is usually unlikely. Dr. Jo was funny and very informative. I highly recommend him. He spent more than adequate time with me and answered all of my questions and concerns. I left there reassured and motivated about my treatment plan.
Gary Chandonnet: I've always been treated with respect and have always been given direct and solid advice. I love the no nonsense approach by both Dr Brikhead and Nurse Nancy. Dr. Birkhead will be missed in his retirement.
Jill Gray: Dr Joe is an amazing dr and the only reason i stay here.the staff have huge attitude problems. They book appointments then call THAT day of appointment (after it was confirmed the day before) and just give you whatever time to be there (not your scheduled appointment)Even though obviously i made an appointment for a reason bc i needed a specific time! I have 3 young children which I was told to now bring with me to appointment even though I told them I had no vehicle also until 3 which is also why i made appointment for 4. I also had to call out of work. They were really of no help appointment wise and I was told the guy ahead of me is 88( so hes basically more important than me , even though we were both in the same boat almost except im 34. 🤔)Then the reception tells me to "calm down" even though she was the one cutting me off while i was speaking ....and that's why I was testy!!!If you don't want to get spoken to w attitude don't give it. So needless to say bc I NEED my heart checked I needed to replan my whole day yet again only including now bring my 3 kids, no work, no money, and no car.Good thing there's such a thing as appointments! 🤣
gail martin: They save lives
Timmy Kim: First time went there and met with Dr Ali , he was really arrogant , disrespectful words and rude. But the nurse and others people over there are friendly. I asked to change the doctor the same day after met with Dr Ali , i almost got a heart attack after met him.
Dre Marley: I called three times today to change my appointment and was hung up on by Marie the first two calls and she never called me back to apologize and confirm the change. The third call was Pam, who did not sound pleasant at all when I told her I had to reschedule. I'm thinking the office loses money when a patient cancels or changes an appointment. They already make enough these medical people and this office charges a fee if you don't notify them 24 hours ahead of time. I just started a new job and it is hard for me to do a phone telehealth or in person visit right now. I've called multiple times to this office, the staff are not very pleasant in their tone. My sister says Dr. Ali is arrogant, so far my opinion of him and the NP staff is mixed. I've only seen Dr. Ali in person once in July after my hospitalization due to a heart attack in July and a NP in Oct. He did seem little arrogant. I have a appointment coming up in Feb not sure I want to deal with this office. I may try to see him early, I am worried about my heart. I'm doing okay, trying to exercise and eat healthy and take my meds but still worried.
Jason Cimon: Worse doctor office I've every been to ask the doctor to call me or take an appointment to talk to them and they don't have the time to talk to me
Virag Jain: Summary: Great doctors and nursing staff. We have seen the same doctor, Dr. Harsh Sanchorawala, for over 17 years who is simply incredible with impeccable bedside manner, extremely kind and caring and immensely competent. Just an awesome doctor all around who would call directly, sometimes even when out of office, if needed. The nursing staff is extremely helpful as well,Few years ago the practice was acquired by Lowell General Hospital and the administrative staff - front desk staff and checkout can do better. The staff can be curt and sometimes downright rude and In the past, I had issues with them moving appointments without notice. In any case, the critical factor of any practice is the doctors and nurses and they are simply great.
Emailman: Dr. Walter Jo, this year (2020) ordered test that revealed two (99 %) blocked arteries resolved with two stints. Without his thoroughness I was a walking time-bomb. Dr. Jo’s follow-up visits with the assistance of NP Nancy Sydow did not skip a beat during this epidemic period. I highly recommend the care of Dr. Jo and his staff.Methuen MA
Abrhea Ball: I was referred to MV Cardiology for pre-op clearance for an upcoming procedure.Unfortunately,my surgery was placed on hold until I could obtain cardiac clearance. The initial appointment I booked was almost 4 months out simply because this office is booming with patients!I continued to call looking for cancellations in hopes of getting an earlier appointment.Diane was so helpful in helping me to get in for my appointment in a timely fashion.Unbeknownst to me,she kept my name and number and called me once there was an opening.Such a sweetheart!I went in and was seen by Dr.Ibrahim who was very knowledgeable, thorough and efficient.Super personable! She is a doll and does an awesome job holding it down as one of the few, if not the only female provider in the office. Thanks MV Cardiology ❤️
Anthony Jones: Dr Walter Jo is one of the best there is. I had a cardiac incident a few years ago and I was referred to him by my PCP. I also work in emergency services and have heard nothing but great things about Dr Jo. He goes the extra mile to explain any concerns you or a loved one might have. His staff is phenomenal also. I can't recommend Dr Jo highly enough!
Tanya Smart: Staff were all so friendly and welcoming! I had to go for a pre screen appointment for surgery. Dr. Jo is AMAZING! Hopefully I won't need to see a cardiologist again but if I do I am going back here!
