Sahel Restaurant & Lounge: what do users think?
Rithy Eth: Always drove by this restaurant so thought to give it a try tonight. Ordered delivery and regretted it. Ordered only 2 items and they forgot one of the items. The order i did received was the jerk chicken but first bite it was cold. Also, only recieved 3 small pieces of chicken which for the price point in my opinion isn't worth it. Overall, a bad experience and won't be giving it a second chance.
Felicia Coutu: Worked there from January 25th to February 14th. For my first week(until the 31st) I had no numbers to clock in nor use for serving and using pos system, therfore all my credit tips went to someone else. I was serving, hosting, bartending(don't know anything about it) bussing and answering the phones. Bosses would stand around drinking and watch the chaos unfold as people waited extra long for uncooked food, horrible beverages and no bread or butter to eat while waiting. They also were only paying me $5.50 per hour even after explaining to them the law has changed to 6.75 for servers as of 1/25. Finally after my first paycheck for 5.50 a hour they told me they would fix it for next paycheck. They did but only to 6.50. They also aren't aware that the law states if my tips and min wage do not sum up to the minimum wage of $15 I am entitled to the larger one whichever that is. And I never made tips as the place is not busy. It is sad to see how many people run that place illegally and how many employees are not paid properly.
Bob Lala: Very much a mid spot. How are you in a college community but don’t throw +18 parties. I should not be partying next to someone 3x my age…
Betchela meronnis: I have mixed feelings about the food. I am from the Caribbean and I have so many friends who are Africans and I love to eat their jollof rice. So, I decided to buy it. The rice was really dried. It looked like it been cooked for a while. They just heat it up in the microwave.Dancing Jerk Chicken was great but spicy.Egusi Stew. I did not like the smell. The smell was so unpleasant. Again, maybe because of different cultures but I didn’t like it.Overall, there is room for improvement. Lowell is full of Africans. Having a restaurant with good food to represent them will be fantastic.
Kazi Tanzeem Shahid: We came to Lowell on short notice and were looking for a restaurant that was open in late night. We called and confirmed that the restaurant closes at 12, and the kitchen closes at 11.When we came after 10, we were told that the kitchen closed at 10, and the restaurant is closing. We tried to explain what we were told a short while ago, and they just shut the door on our faces. Apparently this early closing happens on Sundays, then why were we told of the later closing times since we called on a Sunday? This kind of miscommunication is beyond frustrating.EDIT: Regarding the owner's response, I can understand that the kitchen closes at 10, that's fine, but since we called just shortly before that, we should not have been told that the kitchen closes at 11.And my name isn't KariAlso, if anyone who thinks i'm being nitpicky here, we were on Lowell during a connecting flight, we literally were short on time and finding a place to eat that late at night was a more critical issue than usual.
Jennifer Boggie: The food is delicious and the atmosphere is friendly. My only complaint is the food takes a long time to come, but it's delicious and freshly prepared, and very flavorful. Great for family dinner and kid-friendly, but also an excellent date night atmosphere.
Shaleen Gutu: The food is terrible. The oxtail taste like it was drowned in ketchup. Egusi is not authentic. They have people who aren’t even versed in cooking ethnic food. Don’t even dare come at night the service is absolutely terrible the bartenders are great but they don’t have sufficient staff to help. Owners and management have no knowledge of their own bar. Waiting 20mins for a drink at a Lowell bar that’s not even near capacity is absolutely ridiculous. Mind you management called me a “b****” after voicing my frustrations. 1/10 I don’t recommend.
Keionia Jefferson: Good food had a great experience
Steven Gutierrez: This was the worst experience I ever been too been here couple times dj was not good security guard was super rude and ridiculous was ignoring me while I was talking would not recommend hope that lightskin security will not be working there no more super disrespectful to customers!!!
Natalia Gonzalez: Such bad customer service when coming in. The guy security is disrespectful and shouldn’t work there.
Becky Ajuonuma: Came here for a private group dinner and had a great experience. The owner and restaurant manager gave us a personal overview of the restaurant and it’s mission + all the events they put on to engage with the community.I particularly enjoyed the food (went for seconds because it was buffet style) I had the beef suya, stew, plantains, puff puff and couscous. There’s a restaurant at the top and a lounge + bar at the bottom for events.
Orianna Natsis: I decided to try Sahel after having walked past it dozens of times. After my experience there I can definitely say I will be coming back, as well as recommending it to others! The food was delicious- quickly prepared, fresh ingredients, and absolutely delicious! The staff was extremely friendly and polite. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you're looking for your new favorite dish, try the Dancing Jerk Chicken!
Giovannie Z: This is a terrific restaurant. The food is great especiallyas an African, you eat and feel like home. I wish I could give them 10 stars. Thank you for giving us a taste of homeFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

tunde adebimpe: Horrible experience! I don’t know how this reviews came to be and I’m curious to know. I ordered pounded yam and egusi. Pounded yam is the size of a tennis ball. My egusi soup had no meat!!! No meat!!!! I repeat, no meat!!!! I told the owner and the server and owner asked if I wanted to order meat separately. This bowl cost me $24, 50% more than I’d pay to eat same meal somewhere else. Yes, no meat! This reviews are from non-Africans. No wonder I don’t see a single African come in, and place is super empty. I will not be going back!!
Levitate Echo on PS5: Food was great and people were nice I recommend
Julissa Jiminian: I’ve always wanted to try egusi and fufu but I’ve never been able to find anywhere near. This local spot in Lowell has incredible food. I finally tried it today and let me tell you if you’ve been thinking about it just try it you won’t be disappointed. The staff was super friendly I will definitely come by again and have some drinks they close at 2am on Fridays!!
Joseph Hayes: Food and Service Was Great...Unfortunately There is A Junky Who Sits In A Lawn Chair in front of Restaurant Begging For Change, And His Friends either passed out...and/or doing drugs/drinking on the Side Of The Restaurant...its such a shame City of Lowell let people like this ruin this area...we surely will not be back to dine in...but will probably have it delivered...it was delicious...just a shame about who is hanging out in the front.
Kat Chantre: This is the second time I've tried to order from this restaurant and couldn't. First time I ordered online for their oxtail plate, after waiting a while for my order. Tracking the online order I noticed it was automatically changed to the jerk chicken dish which I did not want. I guess they ran out of oxtail, but I had to contact the delivery driver to not accept the order. Because first, I was not informed that they no longer had oxtail and if I would prefer a different dish. I let it go asked for a refund and left it at that. This time around the oxtail is no longer available for online order, I noticed it hasn't been since, so I decided to go with two other dishes. The jerk chicken and the red snapper. Online explains the fish can be "baked or fried" but I had no way to make that option to choose. And the picture online also shows veggies but nothing that guaranteed it to come with the plate other than rice. So I had questions, or tried to leave a special instructions, however online they were not receiving special or specific instructions, even if I was to write I have a shellfish allergy since I saw they also carry shrimp inhouse. So I called the restaurant for pickup order through the phone, with hope someone could answer all my questions because now no matter what online method I used like delivery, pick up or carry out I was faced with the same restrictions. I called around 2:30pm, a gentleman answered and said he would call me back in 5 mins but never did, I called many times after that and got no answer. Really sucks because all I see is great reviews and amazing pictures uploaded with reviews that make you want to try their food. But maybe the only way is to dine in. But I would hate to meet the same bad experience.
Wincia Emmanuel: Best restaurant ever they foods is very delicious
ERIC A TCHUIGOUA: Sahel restaurant is located in the heart of Lowell on Central Ave. The city itself is going through Major overhaul with constructions which, to me is perfect as I get to see part of the old city and what it will be in few months.Sahel restaurant is very unique and authentic. It is a two level restaurant whereas the top is for dining and the lower level for private events which one can also book. The food menu is diverse as it encompasses different cultures. Whether you're looking for a classic American experience or even just looking to try African or Jamaican food, Sahel menu will not disappoint you. When it comes to service, the staff at Sahel restaurant is outstanding, knowledgeable, courteous and always happy. I was visiting from DC and didn't know anything about Boston and Lowell. The staff made me feel welcome, pointed out things and places to see and do and that was just FANTASTIC!I had the egusi stew which was perfect! If you're in Massachusetts visiting, I highly recommend you drive to Lowell and visit Sahel, you will not regret.Vegetarian options: Butternut squash soup Kid-friendliness: Nuggets, cheeseburger Wheelchair accessibility: The front door has a rampDietary restrictions: Staff will walk you through any restrictions you may have.

Kerrie Moran: Sangria was great. The fettuccine alfredo was so good, better than most of the italian restaurants, I've had it it from, too. I was pleasantly surprised. Not too busy on a tuesday for dinner. The parking lot is tiny and awkwardly shapped. Service was good, a little slower with more of a laid-back feel.Parking: 8-10 spots, not much room.

l ER: Food is normally good that’s why I gave it two stars. But today I ordered an appetizer I’ve ordered several times before and it was different. Presentation tried to be fancy but actual food was fried to a crisp. In the past chicken was not in the picada it was pork belly/chicharrón, cheese, sausage and tostones. Now there was more chicken than anything and fried through for a jaw work out or lock jaw chewing event. Waited 45 min for the appetizer to come out. The first one came out about 20 min after the order. People that got there after us got their food first. Not sure if these were regulars being favored. Waitress was MIA. Other people dining were flagging down any waitress/waiter that walked by. Staff looked like they could care less to be there. Hanging out and talking to each other instead of asking us if the food was okay, or did we want/need anything else. Definitely not going back. Small portions for prices on some appetizers like the sweet bacon plantain. Literally one plantain chopped in five pieces $12. Vibe was unwelcoming this time around like you were a bother to the staff. Glad there’s other places to try near me.Parking: Parking is terrible
Ana S: Food was mediocre. Service was even worse! The only one who seemed to be happy to be there was the hostess everybody else seem to be dragging their feet, and looked miserable. I should also mention, if you plan on complaining or ask that your food be returned to the kitchen the waitstaff will be talking about you. Don’t go there hungry as it took a good 45 minutes to get the first appetizer. Needless to say, I won’t be returning.
Lwigy Collado: Hands down the best dinning experience in the Lowell area! I was amazed by the service and the restaurant’s ambiance. The restaurant is tidy and runs like a well oiled machine. Not to mention the food is out of this world! Our party ordered several different menus items and all surpassed our expectations. I’ll be back !

Jose Torres: Update because is another restaurant
Antonio Torres: Got to the address they have listed and flavor grill is not there instead there is a restaurant called grumpy g so we get in waitress was very attentive and offered great service as well as an explanation that flavor grill is now grumpy gs menu was online via a scanning app prices on menu did not reflect the bill we received it was double the menu price with no indication that prices on menu differ from actual prices for example we ordered 9 pastilles menu price was $1.50 price on receipt refected a price of $6.00 each food was amazing I just wish I knew what the prices of each item was before ordering and eating because prices on menu are totally wrong...
Mike Livertovsky: This place isn’t open. Grumpy g restaurant is there instead. I ordered from them on Uber eats and when I got there, the restaurant didn’t exist.
Christine Travis: They're not that great my experience I don't care for it that's all I got to say

Jezabel Mercado: It was freezing cold in there. My husband and I both got mofongo and his portion was way smaller than mine. My mofongo was very salty. Taste wise it was okay.
Steve Delacruz: First visit they didn’t have soda they had no inventory, they didn’t have certain things on their menu. The food they did have was very good no doubt about that. Second time I call in an order for pick up drive there mind you 45 minutes the lady at the counter says sorry we can’t make your food new cook not here yet. If this place could get their act together they would do great because the food is amazing but their service and management sucks. Lowell has terrible Spanish good so this place would shine. I will never be back. Thumbs down 👎

Dylan McCullough: Usually I just have rice and pulled pork, sometimes I'll get sancocho and always gotta grab the parcha. Tostones are pretty good too! The food is so good here! I've heard people having problems with delivery. A LOT of people come here and they usually run out of food by the end of the day. I'd say you should order in person but if you get it delivered they may be out of certain items, so expect them to have some things crossed off on your receipt. Just call up DoorDash or whoever else you use to get food delivered and ask to be refunded. Usually you'll be refunded what wasn't received, sometimes you'll get a full refund!
Jose Lorenzo: La cajera muy Mal servicio Como que no le pagaras por la comida
Luisana Payano: Ricooo
jorge mario velasquez restrepo: Defraudado. La comida en este lugar es deliciosa pero ya cambiaron el sistema y La Niña que está en la caja no atiende a las personas y esta es hablando por cell. Harry Ambroise: The food is great. Place an online order for delivery. Got stiffed for $23.03. They didn't deliver anything I ordered. Didn't get a refund either. Restaurants are stealing now?
Mr. Man Onpoint: Don't get me wrong food is great but VERY bad phone service I don't speak Spanish want to order food and the woman hangs up everything I want to order smh. So la diferencia is where it's at and good service

Elicia Waterman: Food is great, awful customer service, DO NOT ORDER ONLINE!I placed an online order for a chicken stew (pollo guisado) large which online required me to choose two sides, for 1 I chose rice and the second yuca. Once I received my order the yuca was missing. I called the restaurant to let them know and they gave me this story saying that their prices are incorrect online and that since I ordered the large chicken stew, they gave me a large order of rice and claim they did not charge me more for giving me more rice. Upon them making this decision for me, their worker called the supervisor and the supervisor told her to send more rice but not the yuca. The worker advised me that next time I placed an online order to call the restaurant and clarify what I would like or to place a separate order for the sides. I told the worker I understand it was not her fault but that in the future they should be calling the customer to explain this instead of making decisions for the customer and that if their prices are incorrect online, the customer shouldn’t have to be going out of their way to call the restaurant when placing an online order because then what is the point of an online order, and also it is an issue that the restaurant needs to correct on their end instead of blaming the customer, making decisions for the customer and not completing the order. I asked if there was any way I could please get my order of yuca and that I would gladly pay but they refused. To be clear, the worker on the phone was very kind and patient but there was a man working with her screaming in the background at her and through the phone saying that they will not bring me what I am asking because the delivery man was finishing his orders for the day and yelling saying no they won’t send anything. None of this made sense and there was absolutely no effort to try and please the customer. It is a shame because they’ve lost me and my family as a customer and we’ve been ordering for several years but this disregard and unwillingness to solve the issue was disappointing.

Waited there for a while and got to the counter for her to take my order but she looked at me and ignored me to continue talking to a guy cause he speak Spanish, who is already being serve by another girl. 🤷‍♀️ I felt like I was being judged cus I didn’t speak Spanish or not Latin. When finally she decides to take my order she just gave me this blank stare and made me felt uncomfortable she didn’t even say anything. So she still took her sweet time to just grab two empanadas to put in a bag and still having conversation with guy she flirting with. Rang me out but didn’t tell me the price of the food. Just stuck out her hand for my money without me knowing the price. I had to ask twice how much??? So then I gave her the money and I said Thank you. Which I had respect for her and the place but I shouldn’t be the one saying thank you. She should be the one to. But I never got respect back and a thank you, when I showed respect and patient. Never again coming here. This place has bad service.

Yohana Aqua: This place is DELICIOUS!!!. Super friendly staff, food is authentic Dominican food and on the weekend there is a live DJ and people dancing! Portions and pricing were great and it’s woman owned, family owned and Black/Latin owned! Definitely recommend and I keep coming back!
Maria Tadros: Waited an hour for food just to find out kitchen was closed.

Ar3sCo: Terrible dry food that they sell to people even near closing. Look at the whole Chicken they sold me and they closed up the bag real tight so I couldn’t see the food before I went into the car. What was sad is they know this was for my 4 year old son!!!! I spent 36$ on chicken, a piece of fried Turkey which I thought was chicken, rice, 2 empanadas, and drinks!!!!! That is craziness especially since the food looked like this!!!!

Edward ZGonzow: They steal your money
Helen Muccitelli: Get ready for a trip to another place, far above the ordinary. This restaurant primarily serves Dominican food for takeout, and it's a flavor explosion. There are small tables if you can't wait to get home with your food. We spent $25 for two plus drink but after eating to excess there's plenty of food left to make another meal. My middle-schooler makes mmm mmm mmm sounds while eating. The rice with peas sends her to Nirvana. The fried chicken is crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The fried Yuca are done to perfection. The pasteles are moist, filled with chicken. The rice with beans are good but the rice and peas are our preference. If they offer a casserole made with lean ground beef, yellow plantains, and topped with cheese, don't leave without getting a big square. If you don't know what something is, just ask the server or one of the other patrons. There are chilled foods behind the counter, so take a look. If you're like me and have never been to the Caribbean, don't speak fluent Spanish, but love good food have no fears, take a leap of faith. I've enjoyed everything I've ever ordered from Villamar and I recommend this restaurant unreservedly.

Ainsleigh Callan: My girlfriend and I have been here multiple times and we'll definitely be back. We got the red snapper and the lambi with djon djon, banan and pikliz. This is some of the best Haitian food I've ever had. We got the same order both times because it is just that good. We had the pineapple cake last time too and it was phenomenal. The service is amazing. All of it, outstanding. 100/100 recommend.
Chris Hill: We sat at the breakfast bar my wife and I and we ate breakfast I had french toast and my had a side of corn beef hash and it was out of this world definitely a go back thank you to the owner and chef food is amazingWheelchair accessibility: Very wheel chair accessible
Alan Bauman: Amazing authentic Carribean food with a unique feel you can't find anywhere else in New Hampshire! The Jerk Chicken plate was the best I have ever had.
Andrea O'Brien: Great food in a wonderful location. I love people watching and their big windows have a great view of Main Street. Great staff and super nice vibe.
LK Hall: This place has the best curry chicken I've had. I highly recommend this place.
henry hernandez: the first time I tried a breakfast unfortunately it was not that good especially when you're paying almost 40 bucks and for the second time I tried lunch giving them the benefit of the doubt a real good smell of oxtails came across the street so I decided to order oxtail thinking I was going to get something delicious honestly there was nothing Caribbean or favorable about the oxtails the environment was pretty decent but not worth the money.
Kameron Armitage: We stopped in for dinner tonight and it was so great! They carry several island beers (Red Stripe, Presidente, Prestige, Medalla). We got the assorted fritters, coco bread, jerk chicken and Jamaican chicken curry and everything was so fresh and flavorful. The owner was also really nice as well, and very attentive. We are looking forward to our next visit already!
James Shatalov-Stein: Ordered takeout, and was excited to try some dishes I’d never had before, but I was disappointed. Maybe I chose the wrong dishes, but it was bland. One item I had were the fritters and was disappointed that they all tasted like old frying oil.Plus, I found a fried piece of a steel wool scrubber in the meat. I know these things happen, but it was off-putting and set a bad tone for the rest of the meal. And it could have been bad if we had accidentally eaten it.
Mary Love: I really enjoy this place every time I go. The staff are so welcoming, and I cant seem to get enough of the food. I really like the environment, clean and comfy. The new owners really did a good job with the transitioning of the place, extremely professional.
Amy WilliamsRakiey: It looks like a typical diner. The food is outstanding! The chef is very accommodating.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Daniel Weeks: Our family (including three young kids) has been twice in recent times, both for brunch and dinner, and we love it! Breakfast was classic diner fare, well-prepared and delicious. Dinner was an exciting new taste for us. Service was always friendly, prompt, and accommodating of our kids. So glad to Nashua has a true Caribbean restaurant and hope it thrives for many years!
Colin Anderson: Best restaurant addition to Nashua. Jerk Chicken Wings, Fritay Lakay, Lambi Creole, Djon Djon rice… it’s all delicious. Service is friendly and perfect!
Diana Hebert: Food ok. Sign outside says breakfast special. Called in an order because I was at work. Picked it up only to find out I was charged for another breakfast with same exact contents just more money. Apparently I did not specify "special" waitress was put off by my questioning but then asked for repeat business. Not into bait and switch
Rottar Srey: Food was delicious!! The owner served us and he was really nice. It was getting packed and he was the only one waiting on customers but made sure he got to everyone!! Definitely coming back!
Sabrina English: The Caribbean breakfast is fabulous
Rick Neckorcuk: Great menu. A selection of dishes from several Caribbean islands. The Ropa Viejo is awesome.Parking: Lot behind the restaurant.

Eric Bozoian: Food was so good and amazing service. Surprising cheap for the quality. Will definitely be back.

Taya Mendez: This is the best Spanish food around. Food straight from the island to your plate. Coco and Angel were so friendly and make every Puerto Rican dish you can think of. She was able to make my father his pionono in which he went to Puerto Rico 2 weeks ago and couldn’t find it any where. I would definitely be going back soon. If you like Spanish food this place is a must.

The pizza pastelito was warm crunchy and delicious, the burger was a pleasant surprise as a dominican I was expecting the traditional chimi burger style patty instead it was filled with steak tips which I was not mad at all with just not expecting that. Def a fork and knife type of burger. Lastly the flan I don't know if cocos makes their own desserts but the flan was a little on the overcooked side and deflated with barely any center but it was also the last piece and maybe for a reason. I would definitely go back to cocos to try other items on their amazing menu! 4 out of 5
Brittany Zorn: Coco’s has delicious breakfast and lunch food. Ingredients are fresh, every dish is expertly prepared, prices are reasonable, and the service is excellent! Both Coco and Angel are the biggest sweethearts and they care about delivering a tasty, authentic meal. I brought a date here and it was the perfect setting. Coco and Angel both made sure we had everything we needed and the egg sandwiches were to die for! If you wanna support a small, locally owned business, this is a great place to bring a friend for a lowkey meal or to have cater your next event. Inside seating is quaint but it’s fantastic to sit outside in the summer being right on the river!Came back a second time and had to wait for my order for a bit… they gave me a free pork and cheese empanada for my patience and it was so kind, and so delicious!!Vegetarian options: Coco and Angel would probably make any substitutions you asked for if they had the ingredients to do it!! They are so warm and kind, and put their all into their business!Kid-friendliness: They have a super cute take-one-leave-one library program that operates on donated used books!! Their community based practices really add to the charm of the location.Parking: The parking lot is small but there is additional parking on the convenience store side and most of their orders are take out, delivery, or catering!
Kaneya Bazile: My experience in this restaurant, I would say was great. I went for breakfast the day of my birthday on a mission to find a great breakfast that would satisfy my breakfast craving and they did not disappoint with the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich with home fries.Very, very friendly and inviting as soon as I walked in. I had also asked if they had blueberry muffins as well but due to them just opening right at 10am(the time I came in), they didn't have any but guarenteed that I wouldn't be needing it. He was definitely right about that.I would definitely be coming back again soon!
nics c: Amazing food, amazing service, amazing owners!!! My boyfriend is from Puerto Rico and he got the media noche sandwich and he said it tastes like the ones he used to get back home. I highly recommend this restaurant. Best Puerto Rican food in the area!!
Ivys Sosa: I recently had the pleasure of trying the catering services at Coco's Cafe, a Puerto Rican food restaurant, and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. From start to finish, the experience was fantastic. The customer service was friendly and attentive, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The highlight of the meal, without a doubt, was the pork. It was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The flavors were rich and the texture was so tender, it just melted in my mouth. I couldn't get enough of it! But everything was amazing from the appetizers to the rice it was all great!Overall, I highly recommend Coco's Cafe to anyone looking for a fantastic Puerto Rican meal. The food, service were all top-notch, and I will definitely be back. If you're looking for a new place to try, I highly suggest giving Coco's Cafe a chance. You won't be disappointed!
