Sahel Restaurant & Lounge: what do users think?
Nathalie Bienaime: Where do I beginneed better waiters was not a welcoming atmosphereThe food was okay the oxtail and white rice the rice overcookedMy boyfriend had jerk chicken dry but tastyThe service was horrible
Rithy Eth: Always drove by this restaurant so thought to give it a try tonight. Ordered delivery and regretted it. Ordered only 2 items and they forgot one of the items. The order i did received was the jerk chicken but first bite it was cold. Also, only recieved 3 small pieces of chicken which for the price point in my opinion isn't worth it. Overall, a bad experience and won't be giving it a second chance.
Felicia Coutu: Worked there from January 25th to February 14th. For my first week(until the 31st) I had no numbers to clock in nor use for serving and using pos system, therfore all my credit tips went to someone else. I was serving, hosting, bartending(don't know anything about it) bussing and answering the phones. Bosses would stand around drinking and watch the chaos unfold as people waited extra long for uncooked food, horrible beverages and no bread or butter to eat while waiting. They also were only paying me $5.50 per hour even after explaining to them the law has changed to 6.75 for servers as of 1/25. Finally after my first paycheck for 5.50 a hour they told me they would fix it for next paycheck. They did but only to 6.50. They also aren't aware that the law states if my tips and min wage do not sum up to the minimum wage of $15 I am entitled to the larger one whichever that is. And I never made tips as the place is not busy. It is sad to see how many people run that place illegally and how many employees are not paid properly.
Bob Lala: Very much a mid spot. How are you in a college community but don’t throw +18 parties. I should not be partying next to someone 3x my age…
Betchela meronnis: I have mixed feelings about the food. I am from the Caribbean and I have so many friends who are Africans and I love to eat their jollof rice. So, I decided to buy it. The rice was really dried. It looked like it been cooked for a while. They just heat it up in the microwave.Dancing Jerk Chicken was great but spicy.Egusi Stew. I did not like the smell. The smell was so unpleasant. Again, maybe because of different cultures but I didn’t like it.Overall, there is room for improvement. Lowell is full of Africans. Having a restaurant with good food to represent them will be fantastic.
Kazi Tanzeem Shahid: We came to Lowell on short notice and were looking for a restaurant that was open in late night. We called and confirmed that the restaurant closes at 12, and the kitchen closes at 11.When we came after 10, we were told that the kitchen closed at 10, and the restaurant is closing. We tried to explain what we were told a short while ago, and they just shut the door on our faces. Apparently this early closing happens on Sundays, then why were we told of the later closing times since we called on a Sunday? This kind of miscommunication is beyond frustrating.EDIT: Regarding the owner's response, I can understand that the kitchen closes at 10, that's fine, but since we called just shortly before that, we should not have been told that the kitchen closes at 11.And my name isn't KariAlso, if anyone who thinks i'm being nitpicky here, we were on Lowell during a connecting flight, we literally were short on time and finding a place to eat that late at night was a more critical issue than usual.
Jennifer Boggie: The food is delicious and the atmosphere is friendly. My only complaint is the food takes a long time to come, but it's delicious and freshly prepared, and very flavorful. Great for family dinner and kid-friendly, but also an excellent date night atmosphere.
Shaleen Gutu: The food is terrible. The oxtail taste like it was drowned in ketchup. Egusi is not authentic. They have people who aren’t even versed in cooking ethnic food. Don’t even dare come at night the service is absolutely terrible the bartenders are great but they don’t have sufficient staff to help. Owners and management have no knowledge of their own bar. Waiting 20mins for a drink at a Lowell bar that’s not even near capacity is absolutely ridiculous. Mind you management called me a “b****” after voicing my frustrations. 1/10 I don’t recommend.
Keionia Jefferson: Good food had a great experience
Steven Gutierrez: This was the worst experience I ever been too been here couple times dj was not good security guard was super rude and ridiculous was ignoring me while I was talking would not recommend hope that lightskin security will not be working there no more super disrespectful to customers!!!
Natalia Gonzalez: Such bad customer service when coming in. The guy security is disrespectful and shouldn’t work there.
Becky Ajuonuma: Came here for a private group dinner and had a great experience. The owner and restaurant manager gave us a personal overview of the restaurant and it’s mission + all the events they put on to engage with the community.I particularly enjoyed the food (went for seconds because it was buffet style) I had the beef suya, stew, plantains, puff puff and couscous. There’s a restaurant at the top and a lounge + bar at the bottom for events.
Orianna Natsis: I decided to try Sahel after having walked past it dozens of times. After my experience there I can definitely say I will be coming back, as well as recommending it to others! The food was delicious- quickly prepared, fresh ingredients, and absolutely delicious! The staff was extremely friendly and polite. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you're looking for your new favorite dish, try the Dancing Jerk Chicken!
Giovannie Z: This is a terrific restaurant. The food is great especiallyas an African, you eat and feel like home. I wish I could give them 10 stars. Thank you for giving us a taste of homeFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

tunde adebimpe: Horrible experience! I don’t know how this reviews came to be and I’m curious to know. I ordered pounded yam and egusi. Pounded yam is the size of a tennis ball. My egusi soup had no meat!!! No meat!!!! I repeat, no meat!!!! I told the owner and the server and owner asked if I wanted to order meat separately. This bowl cost me $24, 50% more than I’d pay to eat same meal somewhere else. Yes, no meat! This reviews are from non-Africans. No wonder I don’t see a single African come in, and place is super empty. I will not be going back!!
Levitate Echo on PS5: Food was great and people were nice I recommend
Julissa Jiminian: I’ve always wanted to try egusi and fufu but I’ve never been able to find anywhere near. This local spot in Lowell has incredible food. I finally tried it today and let me tell you if you’ve been thinking about it just try it you won’t be disappointed. The staff was super friendly I will definitely come by again and have some drinks they close at 2am on Fridays!!
Joseph Hayes: Food and Service Was Great...Unfortunately There is A Junky Who Sits In A Lawn Chair in front of Restaurant Begging For Change, And His Friends either passed out...and/or doing drugs/drinking on the Side Of The Restaurant...its such a shame City of Lowell let people like this ruin this area...we surely will not be back to dine in...but will probably have it delivered...it was delicious...just a shame about who is hanging out in the front.
Kat Chantre: This is the second time I've tried to order from this restaurant and couldn't. First time I ordered online for their oxtail plate, after waiting a while for my order. Tracking the online order I noticed it was automatically changed to the jerk chicken dish which I did not want. I guess they ran out of oxtail, but I had to contact the delivery driver to not accept the order. Because first, I was not informed that they no longer had oxtail and if I would prefer a different dish. I let it go asked for a refund and left it at that. This time around the oxtail is no longer available for online order, I noticed it hasn't been since, so I decided to go with two other dishes. The jerk chicken and the red snapper. Online explains the fish can be "baked or fried" but I had no way to make that option to choose. And the picture online also shows veggies but nothing that guaranteed it to come with the plate other than rice. So I had questions, or tried to leave a special instructions, however online they were not receiving special or specific instructions, even if I was to write I have a shellfish allergy since I saw they also carry shrimp inhouse. So I called the restaurant for pickup order through the phone, with hope someone could answer all my questions because now no matter what online method I used like delivery, pick up or carry out I was faced with the same restrictions. I called around 2:30pm, a gentleman answered and said he would call me back in 5 mins but never did, I called many times after that and got no answer. Really sucks because all I see is great reviews and amazing pictures uploaded with reviews that make you want to try their food. But maybe the only way is to dine in. But I would hate to meet the same bad experience.
Wincia Emmanuel: Best restaurant ever they foods is very delicious
