This pool, this woodland Glenn, this enchanted glade hearkens back to tales of sailors drawn off their boats by the voices of beautiful women In the surf. Like a delicious flower with poisonous fruit, it’s worth the visit if you can resist the temptation.Shallow pools are found in folklore from every end of the world and in every epoch. I always scoffed at the idea the Mormans put forth that the western world had holy sites in the new world well prior to colonization, yet as I sat there I was brought to Dozmary Pool where the lady of the lake returned the holy blade Excalibur, I saw myself as Ponce de León bushwhacking through the concord wilderness and coming across the Fountain of youth- a site that existed, tragically, twelve hundred miles north from where he sent his doomed expeditions.I no longer doubt my lying eyes. This earth has perfect spots, incredible sites where the glamour falls away and we can see through the veil into the platonic ideal of a pond, and its name is Pumpkin.
Ethan Ward: The pond and wildlife were exquisite, and the feline inhabitant was remarkably friendly and prone to stealing food.
Alexander Dengenis (Cato2112): Picturesque pond perfect for picnics in historic Concord MA. Almost certain a revolutionary war battle occurred here. Word of warning watch out for the Turkeys
