Bancroft's Castle: what do users think?

Loosenut Behindwheel: I thought it was worth the hour and ten minute drive ! Nice castle ruins. I parked on the private side street and just walked up the hill to it. I only walked around for maybe a half hour taking photos. If you plan on being there longer, I would recommend parking in the restaurant parking lot so no one complains. I might come back once all the foliage is there. Beautiful place and piece of history !
Zack Chen: This is one of the best places to watch sunsetting within one hour drive from Boston. Great place for photography, or just for some outdoor fun with your family and friends. The best season is fall, but the trail can be highly crowded, and parking space by roadside is very limited.Visited on Weekend Wait time 10–30 min Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry Free …More
Ivan Ventura: Neat little area with a great view, weddings are also held here in the summer.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry Free …More
Romeu Miguel: Take careful it is very slippery on winter weather.
Jamie B: We parked at the Gibbet Hill Restaurant Parking Lot and walked over to the Castle Ruins. Cool place to explore with an interesting History.
William Martin: A cute little ruin that is relatively safe to visit, the castle is a quick steep walk from the road and can be fully explored within fifteen minutes. They location itself is relaxing and has a lovely view of the countryside. Beware of cow patties. Parking is limited.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry Free …More
Jackie Angueira: What an adorable path and castle! If you are close, I recommend that you stop by. The incline is a bit of a climb, but it is brief. The vast parking area of the Gibbet Hill Grill is available for use. If there is an event taking place, use the 'path' closest to the road to circumnavigate the pond. There may even be some cows! There is a path that travels around the back of the castle to the opposite side. That was lovely and enjoyable. This is recommended if you enjoy walking or if you wish to view a castle.

Emma: This place was so worth the hike. The only down fall is finding a place to park. Beautiful views and the castle structure is very interesting.
Roy Shilkrot: Scenery beautiful but there was a big crowd. Went on a Saturday afternoon, parking was very busy, trails were packed, hundreds of people there. But nothing could take away from the fall colors and picturesque landscape that reveals itself at the end of the path. It's roughly 10-15 minutes walk from the restaurant parking, cross the rolling meadow, along the road, uphill, past the castle to the cattle gate marking the viewpoint. The castle is interesting but forgettable, the views are stunning.
Russell Garner: Great autumn views
Jamie Gerardo: This is a great place to take in the views and get your steps in.Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry Free …More
Jade Hill: Beautiful place! It's definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area. PARKING: Be sure to look for legal parking online beforehand. There were so many cars parked alongside the road in designated 'No Parking' areas.
FarmAnimals: A bit confused by the parking signs but after we threw caution to the wind and went on the littlest hike. We arrived.Wait time No wait Price for adult entry Free …More

Barnard Krouch: Its a castle! Yes it is. Perfect place to view the sunset ❤️
Axel Zecena: A very interesting ruin nestled in a farm land trail in the middle of MA. Just one tip, don’t climb up the castle. It’s a lot easier to get up than it is to get down…ask me how I know?Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry Free …More

Bancroft’s Castle Parking: what do users think?
William Martin: Free parking. Not a lot of room. Beware of mud.
Joe Finch: Out of town visitors: this is NOT a parking lot! This is between 5 and 6 cars worth of roadside parking on the very busy Route 40, bracketed by ticket / tow zones. If you park outside of this very small area, guess what? GPD is driving by every 15 minutes or so and they WILL ticket or tow. Pay attention. Read the signs. Don't park here. There are other parking areas on Shattuck Street and at Gibbet Hill Grill which are not as crowded or dangerous.
Tyler Manoukian: Really a hidden gem. Striking views and interesting ruins. There’s trails here suitable for pets and families. The layoff is very easy as well!Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry Free …More
Josh Dalzell: Amazing views of the valley and the sunset.
jim catalfamo: so easy to a nice piece of history
Anastasiya Hanush: My favorite silent place
Emily Roberts: Very limited parking for this site. The only parking is the bit of dirt before the trailhead.
Vanessa: Off street parking, no lot. Free. 5 min hike up hill to get to old amazing historic castle. Definitely worth the walk. Beautiful views of land and mountains.
SK: A road side parking. Only 5-6 vehicles can be parked here.
