Hockey Academy: what do users think?
Seacoast Hockey Officials: The Hockey Academy is a business client of Seacoast Hockey Officials. We offer H.A. the Referees and Scorekeepers for all their adult leagues and have nothing but great things to say about the management team! Thank you for your business and excited to continue working together!
Michael Szulc: Great league to play in. Locations are convenient. Lots of fun.
Paul H: The hockey Academy is a great way to continue playing Hockey as an adult. They are many different leagues based on location and ability. I've been playing in the Hockey Academy leagues for quite a few years now and have made some great friends. The staff is great and will work with you to get you on the same team as your friends or you can join alone. Either way you will have a good time.
Hustle Simmons: I have been playing with the Hockey Academy for about 3 years now and the leagues are very well organized. The Newton location is great and the ice is as perfect as it can get (I say that because previously I've played in some other leagues at various rinks and often times the ice is very bumpy & soft which takes away some of the fun). The guys in the league are a lot of fun to play with. It is a great way to get for me to get some exercise. I would absolutly recommend you give The Hockey Academy a try.
Kevin Harrington: Great competition for all skill levels. They have leagues every where and they offer clinics if you are just starting out.
Zachary Robert: I joined Hockey Academy 3 seasons ago, and i can not say enough good things about them. They are really easy to work with, with every problem that I have encountered, and every suggestion I've made. Also it's always nice being able to suit up once a week with your friends. I would highly recommend this league to anyone.
Eric Lane: I have been playing with the Hockey Academy in Reading for 7 years now. This is the only organized hockey I have ever played in and look forward to it every week. It is perfect for us older guys with kids since the game times are typically after the little ones go to sleep. Over the years I have had the opportunity to play with may great guys and gals. The level of competition is perfect for someone like myself whose only past experience is playing on the local ponds. On ice officials are real nice and do a very good job keeping the game flowing and under control. My only complaint is that they often try to run the league with an odd number of teams which leads to one team every week being off. Since this is my only real exercise it really stinks when it is my turn to sit. They do have makeup games for the games missed, however they are on Sundays which is a tough night for a lot of people to make. Overall I am glad I made the decision a long time ago to start playing with HA, and will hopefully continue for another 7.
Mark DiMarzio: The hockey academy is a well run, easy going, fun place to play hockey with players of equal skill level. They do a great job making sure the teams are competitive. Mark DiMarzio
sean harrington: Sean HGreat skate. Gives you the chance to skate with multiple level skaters.
Mark Stern: Unfortunately I had an extremely poor experience with The Hockey Academy and found their claim of "A Perfect Place To Play For Those Newer To The Game " to be completely false. I am a goalie in B and C leagues normally and wanted to start skating out for better exercise and signed up for Hockey Academy's new "Novice" league in Bedford. At some point H-A started advertising for C level players for the league while still calling it Novice (D level), and then started calling the league "Novice C", which doesn't make any sense as the definition of novice is a person who is new to the circumstances. Not only were there high level C players in this league but B level as well (one guy played at BC, according to a league representative, who worked for the league and Dan knew his background), a far cry from the advertised level of novice. When approached about this situation the head of the league, Dan Fontas, had NO issues with the varying level of play and claimed all players were nowhere near the level we said they were. His idea was to move a "couple guys" and completely ignore the fact that he had a group of players who couldn't possibly keep up with the level of play on the ice. Hockey is not a game that people starting out can compete with experienced players, and as a league claiming to be great for beginners they should know that. If they want to have a league of B/C players that is totally fine, but why is the word NOVICE used to describe it? I asked Dan numerous times how he expected novice players to learn to play VS people 1-2 levels above us (we lost the three games I played by a combined score of 36-1) and he did not provide me with an answer, just kept repeating that he was going to move some guys and all will be well. As someone who has been playing in net his whole life I am well versed in how important parity is to a hockey game and Dan showed that his first priority was not that or the fun, safety, and happiness of his novice level players but with making sure he found extra bodies to fill spots on the ice. Fortunately I was able to get my money back for unplayed games and leave the league.
