Ileana Reisch: Two years ago I had some exhaust work done at Lou's Custom Exhaust in Chelmsford. Work seemed satisfactory and the price was good. Last week the exhaust started making noise, my mechanic put it on a lift and said the flex pipe was broken. Not an issue but the unpleasant surprise was that the catalytic converter had been replaced with a straight pipe. The car has passed inspection since the sensors are in front of the catalytic converter. My mechanic does not do welding, so I can only assume it was replaced when they did the exhaust work 2 years ago. Luckily I walked out of the please and tried to find another place where I could get the service and I found one for literally half the price. The customer service was very good and also the service offered. The initial price quote was $ 280 but I ended up getting a better service elsewhere for $120. WHAT A DIFFERENCE?

Elisabetta Daneu: BUYER BEWARE!!! Deceptive sales practices and no regard for consumer law or customer service! My son, a first time car buyer and 18-year-old young man, visited the shop about two weeks ago with a used vehicle. He asked that they inspect the undercarriage and check for any rust or rot prior to installing a custom exhaust system. He was told to drop the vehicle off, after which about two hours later he returned to find an $1100 system installed he was very happy at first, believing that he had stumbled upon true craftsmanship and service. The next day, he brought the car in for an inspection sticker to our local mechanic. The mechanic was horrified and reported that the car would “never pass an inspection in Massachusetts.“ Turns out the undercarriage was completely rotted out, with no prospect for repair. We visited a second mechanic to make sure the appraisal of the undercarriage was competent. The second mechanic was also horrified to learn that someone had deceived a customer and installed a system in a vehicle in such poor condition without advising them of the rotting and structural failure. We are in the process of pursuing legal action against the seller of the vehicle, so this morning I contacted the shop to discuss mitigation strategies and ways to resolve the issue amicably. An agent who identified himself as “Josh“ stated the following to me: people show up here with ‘sh*tboxes’ all the time,; it’s not our job to tell them their car is not roadworthy. We just do the work. The rest is their problem.“ Needless to say, I was disappointed in the lack of integrity and will be pursuing the matter under Massachusetts consumer protection law. I write this review only to protect others, as I’m sure there are many.Service:Exhaust
