Jeremy Holland: All the food was amazing, especially the Causa Limena and the Aji de Gallina. Everyone was super friendly. The hostess even helped my elderly dad carry our takeout order to his car parked down the street. And it was surprisingly inexpensive for the quality and quantity of food. l ER: Food is normally good that’s why I gave it two stars. But today I ordered an appetizer I’ve ordered several times before and it was different. Presentation tried to be fancy but actual food was fried to a crisp. In the past chicken was not in the picada it was pork belly/chicharrón, cheese, sausage and tostones. Now there was more chicken than anything and fried through for a jaw work out or lock jaw chewing event. Waited 45 min for the appetizer to come out. The first one came out about 20 min after the order. People that got there after us got their food first. Not sure if these were regulars being favored. Waitress was MIA. Other people dining were flagging down any waitress/waiter that walked by. Staff looked like they could care less to be there. Hanging out and talking to each other instead of asking us if the food was okay, or did we want/need anything else. Definitely not going back. Small portions for prices on some appetizers like the sweet bacon plantain. Literally one plantain chopped in five pieces $12. Vibe was unwelcoming this time around like you were a bother to the staff. Glad there’s other places to try near me.Parking: Parking is terrible

I should also mention, if you plan on complaining or ask that your food be returned to the kitchen the waitstaff will be talking about you. Lwigy Collado: Hands down the best dinning experience in the Lowell area! I was amazed by the service and the restaurant’s ambiance. The restaurant is tidy and runs like a well oiled machine. Eduardo Adolfo: Anyone looking for roasted chicken should try this place. That's what they are famous for. Try also the fried cassava or fried plantains instead of the boring fries and you will not regret it. They have a spicy little sauce that's to die for... Most items on the menu are Peruvian or Central American style dishes. Service is good but call ahead if you are in a hurry, they prepare everything to order so, it might take a while but it's worth it.

Katie Lavery: Stumbled across Machu Picchu the other day after meeting a friend at Bow Market only to find that all the food stalls were closed. It was a busy night, but service was quick and our waiter was pleasant. We ordered yuquitas, aji de gallina, and lomo saltado. The lomo saltado was tender and flavorful. We also enjoyed the aji de gallina, but thought the sauce could use a bit more spice. Price was as expected for a restaurant in this area. Great experience overall at this cozy neighborhood spot!

Dan M: Came in here a few weeks back. Well I ordered from this location, not knowing that it had basically closed and had been absorbed by its sister Machu Pichu down the street. I always felt it weird they were so close but MC was certainly more causal. I ended up calling ahead and walking to MC before realizing they had combined.I used to come here often when I lived in Porter pre-Covid. Best sandwich in Union in my opinion but that has certainly changed. By far the biggest disappointment is moving from a French bread type roll to a bulky sandwich roll. Completely changes the taste. Not the same amount of rotisserie chicken as it used to be and most of it was dry. It’s a shame as I used to really dig this spot. The fries were rather hard too but they did provide the same dressing condiment as before. I’ll likely avoid this in the future. Please change back the bread you use!

Jea Kim: Recently got the mixed ceviche, lomo saltado, tamal, and the chicken dinner for delivery. While they weren’t the most affordable Peruvian food option in the area, they certainly had some great dishes worth trying. The mixed ceviche and lomo saltado were our favorites, and I especially liked the refreshing aftertaste of the ceviche. Tamal was also interesting, but a bit too heavy to be an appetizer. The roasted chicken was just okay, but fortunately, the sauces made them miles better. We also wanted to try the Inca kola and their specialty corn drink, but they were unfortunately stolen by our Grubhub driver. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable dinner overall.

Kira Tebbe: PHENOMENAL. Every time I eat here I am blown away. I love the “el pobre” sandwich and eating as many fried plantains as I can manage. The chicken pieces are also delicious.

Stacie Rihl: Awesome place! The cocktails were incredible - our favorite in the Boston area! We had the lab shank & trout. The lamb was amazing - the trout could have used some more flavor but was grilled perfectly.

Athens: I had a reservation on a weekday night a while back and tried quite a lot of dishes and drinks, and all the Peruvian food tasted great.The causa de mariscos is one of my favorite appetizers. Each stack of potato/seafood/sauce made a really nice mouthful of flavor and textures. The ceviche del dia was also nicely seasoned.For the mains, we got the seco de cordero (lamb shank) and paiche amazonico. Both were great, and I especially liked how the banana leaf flavor was present in the fish.The alfajores were baked really nicely. It had a slightly runnier dulce de leche than some others around the area.For drinks, you wouldn't go wrong with either the pisco sour and sangria. They were also both well balanced.However, I was disappointed that there were some black plastic or carbon things in our water that we were unknowingly drinking the whole dinner without knowing because of the dimmer lights. When we finally noticed and let our waiter know, they did not seem to really care at all. It unfortunately left a bad taste in our mouths after splurging so much on a nice meal out and with the food otherwise tasted so great.Update: But the owner reached out to me and provided the likely reason for the issue. I appreciate him reaching out and providing great customer service.
Veronica Rivera-Nieves: First time coming to Tambo 22 with my daughter. Never tasted Peruvian food before and it was delicious! Each and every plate we ordered were excellent. We had Causa De Marisco, Yucca Fritas, Wantan frito, Ají De Gallina en Tazon, Lomito De chincho Anticuchero, and The Pulpo Al Olivo, it was my favorite. And for desert we ordered shortbread cookies. Excellent food…❤️

Vanessa Wilson: I decided to try this place out of curiosity, and I'm glad I did. They didn't bat an eye when I asked to bring my dog on the terrace with me for dinner. Every bite of the delicious meal was a delight. In particular, the octopus, the ceviche special, the lamb shank, and the chicken are all fantastic. The manager even came out to see how we were doing, which we thought was a nice touch. If I didn't live three hours away, I'd make it a regular hangout. As soon as I am back in the neighborhood, I will be visiting again!

Kiara Oyola: Absolutely delicious! We ordered el pulpo to start (highly recommend if you like capers) then ordered the Trucha, the lamb shank and the salmon. The lamb shank and trout were the stars of the show. Would definitely come back for that. Then ended the night with churros with a dulce de leche to dip in. It was all so good. Can’t wait to come back to try more dishes!Order a passion fruit pisco sour while you’re at it too.
Swap: Excellent food and definitely a must visit. Great cocktails and appetizers. For apps, had Causa de Mariscos and Ceviche de tarwi. Cocktails tried were Coco loco, Emerald of the Amazon, Naked in Lima, Mata mule. All were nice, last two in particular. For entrée had Trucha a la parrilla (trout) and Aji de gallina en tazon(chicken). The trout was under seasoned and chicken was good but very one dimensional in taste that you would get bored quickly. Both missed the punch which was present in their apps. For dessert the shortbread cookies are melt in your mouth good.
