Steve Shawhan: Called the Roof Doctor for quote on some simple repairs, and got his 60 second (180 if slowed to normal speed) disclaimer up front about how awesome he was, 31 years exp fixing others repairs la-di-da, and how he was going to charge me $50 for the quote and to educate me on roofs. I can't speak for his work, but the phone call was definitely worth a chuckle and the three star review.... Not to mention the idea for a new career. I figure 4 very high quotes an hour at $50 a pop..forget about actually doing the repairs... cause even part time, that's Genius!! Reminded of the guy that panhandled weekends on the plaza, till he was caught driving home to Prairie Village in his new BMW.Ultimately got a quote from a guy with 41 years exp and charged me $30. However, at the end of the job I felt less pleased. After my husband paid them and they left, I got up on a ladder to admire the new gutters. Actually, some of them weren't screwed in tightly, there was litter and tools left in some of the gutters, and they hadn't installed the correct amount of gutter guards as quoted (they installed less, and left one gutter with only about a foot uncovered, which is just plain silly). I contacted Zhumas about the issues, but they refused to fix it. I guess they were too busy chasing the next dollar, but it made me feel frustrated that they didn't have enough pride in their work to come back. If I ever use them again, I won't pay them until I get up there and check the work first. Emily Shaw: Literally a week after my skylight install the bottom of the skylight looked like it was melting. This was at the end of august. I contacted the president and he confirmed that this did not look like it was leaking from the photo but has yet to come actually see it or repair the damage that happened A WEEK after the repair. It says I have a 7 year warranty but I have had a horrible experience with reaching out to schedule a time for them to review their work. It has been almost 2 months and still no plan for them to come fix the job they did and expected me to fix this?? Luis if you actually respond and fix this I will take my review down, but you are refusing to respond or schedule a time to come. NICK LUND: My experience with Adam Vaillancourt in November of 2022. I requested a quote for a roof cleaning, but it turned into a quote for a new roof given we did not know the age or history of the roof. I got quotes from multiple companies, and Adam Vaillancourt was the highest, by a lot. The job was straightforward and consisted of removing and installing new shingles, new fascia, new soffits and cutting in a bathroom vent. The total cost was $18,948.00.I figured with the good reviews that I could find; their experience and professionalism would justify the almost 2x higher price for the job. I was wrong.On Installation Day, Juan was the foreman for my job. He was pleasant to chat with but did not verify many details of the job. The crew that was assigned to my job, did not speak English, which led to some confusion about some of the installation as Juan was not at my house for most of the day, and was acting as the translator.The crew moved relatively quickly, and my job was complete around 7:30pm the same night, which left the workers working by flashlight for a few hours. I was not a fan of this, but they did not seem too interested in stretching the job for another day.I checked the work the day after and the roof looked decent, but there were a bunch of issues with the soffits and fascia boards. The “pork chops” were cut poorly and large gaps were just filled with copious amounts of caulk to try to hide the appearance. The soffits were wavy and not tight against the siding of the house leaving large visible gaps and open areas for wind driven rain to enter and damage my home. That day I messaged Juan who was kind of standoffish and just messaged me to “contact customer service” and that he did not have time to come back to look at it.I contacted customer service, but it took weeks to get someone to contact me back. Finally Paul got in contact with me and came to check out the issues. Paul found the pork chops to be cut poorly and issues with the soffits but could not do anything as the weather was too cold and there would be a risk of damaging the siding. He recommended waiting until warmer weather to fix the issues. I agreed with this and was under the assumption all would be taken care of soon. I was wrong again.Paul reached back out (after I emailed customer service to see when he was coming, and to see when the spring cleaning would happen) and he came out mid-April to fix the porkchops. He adjusted one side of the soffit but nothing else. The porkchops now look decent but the soffits remained an issue, so I called him back out to come check them out. I met with him on 4/25 to go over my concerns which consisted of wavy soffits, soffits that can be pushed up into the roof (not secure), gaps along the siding as the soffit does not sit flush, and really expressed my concern with rain and moisture getting between my siding from these gaps. All were met with “there’s nothing else we can do”. I got every excuse in the book thrown at me… “we are just roofers”, “the soffits are just vinyl”, “they will float up with wind”, “they were installed in the wintertime” etc. He did not seem interested in coming up with a solution to actually fix the problem. I floated the idea of putting a wood strip along the rafters, so they actually had something to nail the soffit too, but he did not seem too interested. I mentioned to Paul that this was not the quality I would expect for such an expensive job, and his only reply was"yeah, we are not the cheapest”. Paul said he would discuss with “the higher ups” and let me know, but I am not holding out hope.I also mentioned to Paul that I have not had my spring cleaning and still finding nails and screws everywhere. The spring cleaning was supposed to happen as the roofing crew could not get everything off the ground due to it being frozen with snow, but this supposed cleanup never happened either. Quality was disappointing as well. Multiple areas where starter shingles hung out past the architectural shingle. Many chipped shingles. The edges look awful, which I have included a picture. Customer service attempted to fix this twice but I am left with a lackluster roof. I am quite disappointed. I feel that what I paid for is not a roof that is of higher quality or workmanship, and quite likely no better than their competitors could have completed for a lower price. Recently, a couple shingles came loose on the roof (no leaking, just appeared to be cosmetic). I called about a warranty repair and spoke to a very courteous receptionist who scheduled a time for the next day for someone to come out and take a look.The next day, I received a call a couple hours before the scheduled time letting me know he was running slightly behind and would be 15 minutes late. Having worked in the construction industry in the past, I understand that this happens and I greatly appreciate that they had the respect for my time to call and let me know. He did show up within 15 minutes of the scheduled appointment.After this, the repairs were completed promptly - within two weeks from the time I made the first phone call. They did an excellent job repairing water damage, and their workers were courteous, and on time so I was very pleased with the results.However in 2021 when we wanted to do an exterior makeover my first thought was to bring them back and we did. At first it was business as usual and everything started well but that’s when it all went to pot!!My experience in building maintenance is high since I have a degree in that discipline and I’m very knowledgeable.First off their crew was not the same as before and the technical skills were like that of a toddler and handing them power tools. Pure wood butchers!! You heard then term “measure twice, cut once” ? It was horrific!! Nobody spoke English except the owners and he hardly showed up . The workers were never on time and most always showed up unannounced. Very inconsiderate, not caring about my time or my comings and goings.This project started in December 2021 and continued into 2022. If I had to do it over I’d run and find someone more reliable. So glad I did not only did they do the job with quality and cheaper than my other bid. They did the job safely and with integrity. Manny the owner came out after the workers had fixed where the tree hit...and it looked good to me. The next day when Manny was checking on the progress he saw something not up to code he then had workers tear out and fix the issue. My feiensnthe contractor who builds new homes said, "that's a rare thing". Highly recommend.

They weren't the cheapest but far from the most costly, were very upfront and explained recommended plans and options, and didn't try to sell unnecessary items. They were very communicative on schedule and project changes. A Westaway: I hired initially hired Tom to do a full siding replacement on my home. I have extensive experience, and generally do all work on my home myself, as i am very picky. Tom and his crew started when they said they would, and did a great job. During the job, i also had them do some roofing, build a couple decorative roofs, and install gutters. Tom's crew finished every day by cleaning up the work area, was always exceptionally polite and attentive. Questions were answered quickly, and the few issues that showed up were resolved immediately. Tom will be my first call for all my future projects.

John Robinson: I had some storm damaged gutters and called Guthrie Home Imp to give an estimate. While there I mentioned that I had some wood trim that needed replacement. Tom's (the owner) crew showed up a few days later, did an excellent job with the gutters and the trim. There was a lot of unexpected rot under one of the trim pieces. I was not around when that work was being done. They could have put up the trim and I would have been none the wiser. I was called and updated about the problem once it was discovered. The crew showed up the next day (Saturday) showed me the problem area and finished the job. It was a lot more extensive than originally thought. I ended up with a section of new Cedar siding, the edge trim and all of the gutter work for a very reasonable price. I have asked them to come back to do more exterior work, very professional group, a pleasure to work with.

Avi R: If there was a negative rating, I would whole heartedly go that route. I contacted Tom for some deck work. Tom came promptly to my place, assessed the scope of work, quoted me a price and set a date to start the work. After that everything went downhill. I could never get hold of him to get an update. If my miracle, I could get hold of him, he was always ready with an excuse ranging from his work van broke, tools got stolen to him having a hard time getting good help. It was like talking to a kid who has not done his homework OR in grown up terms an incompetent business owner. Finally, I gave up and went with another contractor who was a complete opposite i.e. more professional, showed up on time and did an excellent work. Overall, I would never recommend this company to my worst enemy. Save your money and time and hire someone else.

Liz Douglass: I bought my condo in 2016, and the roof had been replaced by these guys in 2015. I contacted them this week with a question about my skylight (the skylight wasn't covered under the warranty anyway but still...), and they said the warranty doesn't transfer to new owners. BEWARE of these guys and don't use them if you plan to move or sell before the life of the warranty - they won't honor it
