Lowell National Historical Park: what do users think?
Ivania Rodrigues: Good
Barbara Smith: We drove 150 miles out of our way to visit this site. We checked the website and it gave us the hours. We arrived to find a note on the door saying it would be closed until April 23.Great job on updating the info guys. Really lame that no one thought to do that.
Donna Hill: Its one of Lowell's Historical Buildings located in downtown Lowell. This building was converted into nice units.
Vassilios Giavis: Beautif buildings and interesting history
Alex McDonnell: For the history buff...
Geoffrey Feldman: Not how most conceive of a national park but the history is broad and deep. Restaurants and attractions around are like a world cultural tour.
Stephen Lamarre: This is such a great place to go to learn the history of how things were manufactured in the early days and a lot of the events are free to attend.
Jarrod Pappalardo: Clean

Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center: what do users think?
Greg G: What a wonderful trip through history. If you visit the Cotton mill, just know that for those with sensitive ears and sensory issues, it is LOUD. The auto-looms have a lot of fast-moving parts. I can't even imagine how loud it would have been with the factory fully operational. The visitors center has all of the standard fair of national park souvenirs, the park rangers are friendly, helpful and informative. The history on display is incredible.Being from Western Massachusetts, all I learned about Lowell in school was about the drug epidemic in the 90s. This changed my whole perspective. I never knew Lowell was the first great American Industrial City and that other cities were designed from what they learned in Lowell.Watch the 15-minute video. it's worth it. Im so grateful that it's preserved for future generations to see.

Greg Richard: Very nice place to visit
Lucia: Helpful advice on where to visit - there are many locations throughout lowell that are owned and maintained by the national park service. I recommend going here to help plan out your trip to the rest of the national park, as there isn't much to see at the actual visitor center.Visited on Weekday …More
Tammie Pelosi: Nice place to visit. Great history!
Stephen & Kathy Brassard: This was another check mark on our list to view All National Parks. This one is different because it is in the middle of downtown Lowell.Although, construction made the self walking tour a bit challenging. We were able to find our way with the help of people. We visited the large manufacturing building where they made cloth. This was amazing and loud.We learned much about the hazardous conditions and long work hours women worked. We returned to the center for a canal tour. You must make reservations for these. This was the highlight of the day. We again walked a short ways to the canal boat dock. During the way our guide told us about the history and current project going on with the canals. We boarded a boat and a leisurely ride down the canal followed. While our guide pointed out specific things. It was all in all a beautiful and informative day.

Dona Pagano Denny: The Lowell National Historic Place is fantastic. There is so much to see connected to the early days of weaving in the mills. Even a short film. There's a Jack Karoac exhibit. There's also the National Park to explore, and a trolley to take your around town.

Boott Cotton Mills Museum: what do users think?
Rocco Privetera: Wonderful and full of history!
Michael Luu: One of the most interesting and immersive museums I've been to. I highly recommend going. The video in the theater is about 15 minutes and very informative. It shows the origin story of Lowell and where the city is headed today. I do wish they showed more info on how the water turbines powered the rest of the mill.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry $1–5 …More

Jennifer Youssef: Love the history here!
Anne Grasberger: I came because I weave, I'll be back to absorb more of the history of workers, conditions, strikes, and more. Loved the sound of the looms, the complexity of the machines, and buying some of the cotton woven here in the gift shop.
Lucia: Very cool! Better to visit on the weekdays as its less busy. If you go after 415pm, the entry fee is free. They have a working mill and some other elements that make it applicable to kids and adults. Doesn't take too long to visit the whole museum, no more than an hour for me - closer to 40 minutes. This is worth going to along with other museums in the area, or as a side activity.
Ladder of Knowledge: Learned alot.
Frank Mianzo: Nice museum. Worth the stop. Lots more tours available around town.
Stephen & Kathy Brassard: An amazing look back at our recent history. How great development and ingenuity let to horrible work conditions and work place injure and illnesses. And because there were woman who stood up and fought we now have OSHA.
Larry Stewart: Nice place to learn the history of the cotton industry
Donna Mitchell: Parking: The parking garage is near the visitors center, but some blocks away from the mill. The walk past businesses, restaurants and the quilting museum was interesting. We had great weather for it. The walk would not be so enjoyable if the weather were bad.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sure Price for adult entry $1–5 Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Paid street parking, Free parking garage …More

Jack Kerouac Park: what do users think?
Jay OLeary: Back in the 90's myself and a small crew of Mirra Construction workers turned an empty lot into the park. My first job onsite was to plant 10.000 ground cover Ivy plants. It's sad to see them covering the trees I also planted and yes Jack's Park does attract some undesirable Fans of his drug use.
DraMatik Gonzalez: It's great in the summer with shows and events
Raymond Gordon: A little urban park in Lowell. It's an improvement from what this spot looked like when I was a kid. It now has great views of the canal and is dedicated to Jack Kerouac. They have some monuments to Mr. Kerouac. It is nice as you can walk along here and connect through the college and the old Hilton hotel and avoid walking on the side of busy downtown roads. It may connect to more paths as well. But it was raining last I was here and I did not get too far.
Spazzklown: It's alright but there's always garbage in the park when I visit!!!
Esto Ology: Good memories
Yasmany Poll: Parque lleno de naturaleza!!!!!!
Coats & Ties: …I expected more.
Dee R: Quick stop to see monument. Park is in sketchy part of town. Walk along canal is nice. Wouldn’t recommend going at night
Ivan Marquez: Love it born and raised here!!!!!!!mill city!!!!
Mike Larkin: Its a nice quiet park to enjoy an ice cold beer & read some of jacks poetry off the monument s!
Konrad Toczylowski: Small park, some seating available.Tough parking.
Frank Georges: Fun place to learn about Kerouac. There is also a concrete ping pong table.
Michael Rodriguez: Great outdoor park I mean magnificent park. There's an outdoor ping-pong table and 2 Cornhole setups!!! They just added a handicap outhouse as well.
Michele Hood: Very pretty park to sit in. The only problem druggie and drinks ruin it for the public
Patricia Kweedor: peaceful place
John Gordon: Too many junkies around
Brian Worrall: Full of alcoholic's and drug addicts, no place to relax,, not a place for kids!! The city needs to do something about this!!
BiggMAXX from LoweLL: Lots of history. Man-made concrete ping pong table and cornhole boards. The elements of homeless and alcohol are somewhat disconcerting
Debbie Christman: I don't hate that place I think it's beautiful it's a great place to go it's clean very nice I enjoy it I walk down pretty far to go there. Thank you for everything for having that park it means a lot.
Alex Strobel: Nice area to relax.
Edward Doyle: Was on the bench, eating Chinese food

Whistler House Museum Of Art: what do users think?
Tom Whiting: Large art collection in an old New England house. I enjoy looking at the 19th century paintings.

María Farinella: Interesting
Lady D and her RV: Yup. Nice place to kill an hour or so. Can't say much about it, but it was interesting. No pamphlets, no tour, and assistance. You just look and walk around all by myself. I should have done some research before hand but forgot I had the tickets and went last minute. If you have a library membership, you can acquire a free pass for the day. I would call and see if they still provide passes. Was not impressed and unfortunately I love museums. Ya, it's not the Breakers or anything, place did seem small because you allowed to only see a little bit of the building. The man I spoke to for a bit was nice. I am not sure how much the tickets are, but I would not pay over $10.00 or so. If your a fan, please pay what you think it's worth, but this is a place you could use a pass at only. I know, it's not Boston, it's the local history. Wish there was more to see. They saved crumbs. The only thing I enjoyed was a few paintings. I can still picture it in my mind. I got nothing else. Oh well.
David Bragdon: James Whistler was born in 1834 in this interesting house in Lowell. The displayed art is enjoyable, although missing some major Whistler pieces. You can walk to the Whistler House Museum from the Commuter Rail Lowell Station. In summer, or warm spring or fall day, you can rest on a bench in the lovely Whistler Park.
Kitsap View: Whistler's etchings and other artists of the north east, paintings and art pieces.
Martha Van Winkle: The docents were informative, I learned a lot.
Bruce Reith: Whistler and his parents lived here for like a year before heading to Alaska to die
Cindi Manganello: Fantastic museum!
Guadalupe Williams: This is James McNeill Whistler's birthplace. The family left when he was three and when he was 21 he left The US and lived as an expatriate the rest of his life. The home to furnished with period furniture and is full of art, by Whistler, Arshile Gorky, and local artists, as well as traveling temporary exhibitions. There is a lovely park next to the house that has benches around a lawn, and a sculpture of Whistler. The museum is kind of a hidden gem in Lowell, and is well worth a visit.
Nadine Barnett: Great set of museums, you likely won't spend more than 2 hours in any of them. I wouldn't pay the ad.mission price for just one of the museum's but it's not bad if you see more than one in a full day. Plenty of places to picnic too. A lot of interactive stuff that actually works! I would reccomend.
Denise Hansen: Doors were locked yet sign said they were open. Online said they were open. No one rang us in when we tried the buzzer and knocking. Plus the place was kind of Hard to find.
***J*: It's a wonderful place to visit..
Bob Stone: Recommend the guided visit!
Dan DeLouise: A little hidden gem! You won't be disapointed
Ioana Singureanu: A must-see museum and a great center exhibition space featuring work from local artists.
Jamielee Plouffe: Good place too explore
Bonnie Thibault: A hidden gem!
Chrissy F: Will visit again. Very knowledgeable staff!
Jason Hou: Our family, 3 generations, went together on a Friday afternoon. We were the only ones at the museum. The staff was extremely friendly. They shared a lot of knowledge with us, and the kids learned a great deal about 19th and early 20th century American painters. We also saw many painters we had not heard of before. This museum also has some furniture and appliances from the period that was interesting to see.I definitely recommend this little museum.

Be sure to check out the gift shop once you're done! A wonderful museum.
Manaal Syed: Small little museum in old cotton mills in a sleepy town. Visited on a weekday and there was a small group there. Gift shop is the entrance and the museum is on the second floor. It’s definitely small, but the exhibitions were amazing! Seeing the work up close and learning about each and every piece was lovely. As a person who sews casually it got me interested in quilting.

It was nice to leave a penny on Kerouac’s resting place with my son on a bright day, and to see the notes and tokens left by others. Easy enough to find, and worth taking a moment. We had driven by the house where he was born 20 minutes earlier - unmarked, with a dude out front, in a clean cut working class neighborhood. I wished for a marker there.

Steven Swanson: A place of pilgrimage, the resting place of a traveller, writer and true American icon.

Steve Rat Albert: Center of lot 94 (Lincoln and Seventh)- there are two stones, a big one with his signature on it placed in October 2014 on the 45th anniversary of his passing that has his inlaws mentioned. The real stone is a small flat piece about 12 or 13 steps in front of the right edge of that and just mentions him and Stella. His real family (brother, daughter, parents) are buried up in Nashua at Old Saint Louis de Gonzague.
