Goldfish Swim School - Manchester: what do users think?
Michael Kasmar: Just be warned, if your child doesn't like the class or you're no longer able to attend, their policy states you need 30 days cancellation notice. Not a fan of that at all and they were kind enough to waive it for us, but wasn't easy. Other than that, the class and location seemed great.
Pamela John: So much fun in March! A bit pricey, but a happy swim lesson nonetheless 😀
Caitlin Lefchak: Would not recommend. Please contact for more information.
Dhananjay Patankar: Facility looks clean and good. Instructor's did excellent job. Good thing is heated pool as kids will keep up learning skill in winter season. Swim skill Evaluations are regularly done.
Kristen Maselek: My toddler has taken lessons here for the last several months. Very clean and well equipped with a large staff of knowledgeable swim instructors. The pool is divided into many lanes to accommodate lessons for different age/skill levels and the only challenging thing about it is that it gets very loud and makes hearing the instructor very difficult. Their app makes it easy to cancel and make up classes and also keep track of your child's progress, which I love!
Kate Laurence: Applied for a position, scheduled a phone interview, they didn't call and sent a rejection email hours later that they were going with other candidates. Unprofessional.
Y B: My 16th month old kid had a great time here. I didn’t know that even a parent has to get into water when I first went there. They have divided the pool based on age groups. There was less space. Staff were friendly.
Lisa Mcnulty: My grandson went there today for his first swim lesson. Unfortunately he refused to go in. That being said, the team at this facility was amazing. They worked so hard to get him to agree to go in. Their efforts were very appreciated. Every team member from the front counter to the pool team delivered great customer service.
Mitchel Manning: I have a toddler and she loves it here. The instructor for our class is kind and easy to follow along. Which isn't always easy with a child under 2.The location is excellent and easy to reach. More importantly, the changing rooms are plentiful and always clean. If you have an infant/toddler, I highly recommend this.
Gerry Doncaster: Before committing your child to swimming lessons at Goldfish Swim School, be advised that your child will receive less than 5 minutes of 1 on 1 instruction per class. (I challenge anyone paying for these classes to time the amount of 1 on 1 instruction your child receives per class) There are anywhere between 3 to 6 kids per instructor in a 30 minute class. My daughter received less than 3 minutes of 1 on 1 instruction during the last lesson. A 5 year old cant learn to swim with verbal instruction, their attention span and communication skills aren't developed enough. Young children need the instructor to teach the physical mechanics of swimming 1 on 1.The instructors are friendly, but I'm not paying for kindness, I'm paying for swimming lessons that could potentially save my young childs life. Before I went to the swim lesson, my wife had been taking her to the swim school weekly for months. My daughter still can't swim on her own. At 3 minutes of 1 on 1 instruction per week, it would take 5 months to get the equivalent of a 1 hr one on one lesson. Save a lot of money and time and take your child to a swim school with a better teacher to student ratio or private lesson. Learning to swim is so important. Use your time and money wisely and find more efficient swimming lessons than what Goldfish Swim School offers. It was a terrible waste of time and money.
Katherine Legowski: Signed my daughter up for one swim class, I was told that a wavier needed to be signed (pretty standard) however there was an issue with my account and the account needed to be reset. I was told the waiver could only be signed online. I tried resetting my account multiple times as no one answers the phone at the Manchester location. This ended up causing my daughter to miss her swim class. I am completely dissatisfied and will be sharing this review with local parenting groups. Looking at past reviews the communication seems to be a reoccurring issue here...
Amy Kulas: This place is just OK. The building is clean, bright and inviting. My son attended for 8 months and I don't feel like he got much out of it. He can do basic things in the water but after shelling out almost a grand on swim lessons, I expected him to be taught to actually swim. It took 6 months to move up a level, then needed to wait for a class to open up. The classes were too short and very repetitive. They teach the same thing over and over so he may be good at floating on his back but what other skills were they teaching? We certainly will not be coming back.
SHIRLON DUJON: I was trying to get my son into the Thursday classes at 10:30, Taylor, the receptionist was extremely rude. She was talking back to me in a hostile manner, I was only asking legitimate questions. I would recommend that Goldfish send her for customer service training.
Jessica Chong: By far the worst experience I've had, the receptionist at the front is extremely rude I simply asked if she knew how my daughter could move up to the next level since she had accomplished every step in her current class and she told me to just look at the portal, then when I asked if she could look it up for me she rudely said to ask the instructor next class, I also asked when they could make up a missed class and she said if I didn't call they can't make it up, I get they get busy up there that is why I waited for the middle of the class time so there wasn't anyone at the front and still just rude, I also understand there are policies in place and a system of the way they do things but the way she spoke to me is uncalled for and unprofessional. Also she kept referring to the portal which is great now that I know I will most definitely refer to the portal but a heads up would have been great or at least show me how I can do these things would be nice not just a rude figure it out yourself and your service here means nothing to us. Sincerely considering a new place to take my children I just can't support a business with poor Customer service.
sai lakshmi: Facility is so clean and well maintained. All the staff members are so friendly and understand the kids. My daughter, who used to get scared to go in the water, enjoying her each swimming class and learning basics .. All the instructors are so helpful and have great patience. THANK YOU!
Devan Fleury: Very inexperienced staff who don’t really know what they are doing. They also won’t let you cancel online or over the phone so you are stuck with an auto-bill until you go in person. We have been waiting for two months to get switched to a weekend class as that was their staffs solution so we wouldn’t quit. They will add you to the wait list but I think they take new members to the classes over transferring current members.
Wendy Ennis: What makes Goldfish Manchester shine is the staff's willingness to adapt to situations, listen to parents who have concerns, find solutions, shift teaching methods based on the children, etc. We've had all of these situations occur at Goldfish and we're incredibly grateful to work as a team with them so our children can continue to improve and reach their swimming goals. (I don't write these words lightly. Our children were in other programs in other states when we lived there and none of these components existed in those programs.)Note- this is in addition to the gloriously warm water, clean facilities, etc etc which are all excellent, too.
paige olivia: such a fun place to work! i have only ever worked in fast food for 4 years and wanted a change. this has given me the perfect opportunity to see what else it out there. the other employees are super nice, friendly, and create a great environment to be around! they’ve already helped me through times by understanding and being shoulder to lean on. i have been here since before it opened and have already gotten so much opportunity for growth within the company. never mind being able to work with kids, and knowing that i’m changing their lives as teaching life saving skills is a feeling that i have no words for. truly warms my heart to see their smiles when they achieve a skill set. i cant wait to see what this place holds for my future!!
Ram G: As the other reviewers said, the place is too small. It may be good for someone who wants to learn how to swim, but it is way too small for big kids. There are 4 kids in each lane and in the 30 minutes they hardly get 5 minutes each. I have enrolled my son for a month to check the facility. He wasn't too impressed and hasn't even attended last two of the 4 classes. I called the facility to drop the coming month's fee as we aren't interested in continuing and the employee/owner said there is a 30 day notice and won't refund the amount. Wasted $100 bucks and won't recommend this even to an enemy :)
kranthi kiran: The swim lanes are too short and there are 4 kids in each lane which is insane. The staff are nice. The place is too humid, given it's an indoor pool. I was charged for an extra month citing their 30 day notice. Not happy at all. Wouldn't recommend to anyone with kids above 7 years.
Desiree Clark: Love this place! The facility is very well maintained, dressing rooms/bathrooms are always immaculate. Faculty is so friendly and the trainers are informative. Although the classes are only 30 min I do feel it is appropriate for my child’s age group. We’ve been to a few classes and I’ve already seen improvements in my child’s technique and confidence. I couldn’t be happier, you guys are doing an amazing job!
