Anon Mouse: Baystate is NOT accomodating toward people who have MassHealth. Their finance dept would constantly send bills, call, harass...instead of just BILLING the insurance. This went on for months and months. They were rude and abusive to the point that it was traumatizing. They actually have a bad local reputation for this. I'd actually put up with it if the people in the back office were competent. Since being with CHD I have NEVER ONCE gotten a bill or collection call. Additionally, the prescription authorizations were constantly left to residents who frequently made errors. If a child takes TWO of a medication per day, then an authorization for SIXTY per month is needed- not 30. A human mistake is forgivable but a REFUSAL to CALL INSURANCE and FIX it is NOT. Imagine being told by a snotty, obviously entitled resident (after not having your messages returned for weeks) "I don't LIKE calling Tufts!" ...weeks after your kid was left with no meds. Well, too bad princess... it's literally part of your JOB. The residing psychiatrist obviously didn't care because his inappropriate response was literally "Yes, Tufts is difficult." Zero accountability. For him, politics and ladder-climbing took precedence over his patients. I met two other neighborhood kids who used to be treated by Dr. Z for adhd and neither had anything good to say. Sadly, in today's world, being a good doctor who actually cares doesn't get you promoted- it gets you fired. Baystate is the most overrated, pretentious and incompetent hospital in Western Mass and many people have become and are still becoming wise to it. My mother's terrible experiences in 2 separate ER visits only further add to the horror that is Baystate.
