Adam Rivers: This is quite possibly the worst medical practice of all-time. Staff is extremely rude and difficult to reach for no apparent reason. Changed appointment times on me and told me to deal with it or pay a cancellation fee. Tried to cancel an appointment and gave message to answering service - they never delivered it to the practice and fined me $50 for missing the appointment. I wrote an appeal letter and they responded by expelling me from the practice. Very draconian measures, avoid at all costs!

Michael: I have been having some GI issues lately and was referred to WMGI. Dr. Sassi was very thorough and listened to everything I had to say. She said lets start with some changes in diet and some over the counter supplements to get things in check. She just makes you feel comfortable and that is the most important thing. Glad to have found a good doctor!!

Michael Govin: The last time I went to this practice, the receptionist was very rude and disrespectful. The doctor i had real older gentleman told me why am I here I explained my condition and he looked at me and said there is nothing wrong with you. I looked at him and said really!?!? Did you look at my records, he said no, I don't need to. He refused to do a endoscopy. So then I made another appointment after I filed a complaint against him with some other doctor same exact thing no different so I wanted to file another complaint in the receptionists were very unhappy with me that I wanted to do that. So my condition is GERD, internal bleeding, hiatal hernia, a growth, a benign tumor, and an ulcer. In both doctors refuse to do an endoscopy and said nothing was wrong with me. Right!!!! NEVER WILL GO BACK. Too bad there isn't lawsuit on this place!

Nicole Gaudreau: Rude staff. Rude receptionist and rude PA. They turned my mom away because I wasn’t physically there with her to translate. My mom doesn’t speak English. I was on the phone speaker trying to communicate with the PA but she refused to talk to me and was very rude. Her tone with my mother was unacceptable. I never had a problem speaking with the medical providers before and my disabled mother has never been kicked out of the medical office because of the language barrier. Needless to say, my family and my friends will never return to this practice.

Ridged TradCat: I went in for a routine procedure and was met with a very friendly staff. Very helpful and patient with the questions I had. I only gave it 4 stars because the PA that did my consultation didn't have the best personality. She was helpful, but no sense of humor and seemed annoyed at times. As for the doctor, he was very kind and he took great care of me.

Christina Kowalcyk: I was seen by one of the gastroenerologists back in 2012 and had a positive experience. I've since moved and was seen by a gatroenterologist in my new area. I did not have a pleasant experience so when I needed one again I did a telemed appt with the previous Dr. I saw from Western Mass Gastroenterology. I was told he was only doing telemed appts due to covid. Yet the day of my appt they wondered where I was as they set it up as an in office visit. Recently, which is several months after that appt, I received a notice my credit score went down due to a delinquency. Upon investigation it was from a bill from W. Mass. Gastroenterology that has been unpaid. They never updated my address and were sending it to the an address I haven't lived at in 6 years. I can't pay a bill I never received!

gabby taylor: They were very rude to me as I showed up for my scheduled apt as a new patient and they turned me away. Also didn’t bother to help me reschedule or call me back when I tried too. I waited 2 months for this and they were no help at all. Do not recommend going here. I do recommend Westfield GI (it’s in baystate nobles building) they’re very good there and care about their patients!

joe esile: I had an appointment scheduled for 10/20/2020 which was made by my primary care doctor which I had to cancel. I have never spoken to or been to your practice and did not receive any paperwork beforehand stating your cancellation policy. I work with the public and several people in my immediate circle tested positive on the evening before my appointment. It is expected that a person self-quarantine which is what I did. I called your office that evening before my appointment to leave a message to cancel but your phone system didn’t have the option for leaving a message and the only option was to page a doctor on call which I didn’t feel was appropriate. In the morning I called as soon as the office opened and explained the situation and I was shockingly told I had missed my appointment and would be responsible for a $50 fee. After receiving the first bill I called again to explain the situation a second time and was told I was responsible for the bill. I was told I would need to write a letter of explanation to the office manager(as if I was a five-year-old), I’m astounded that a phone call was not sufficient. I find it ridiculous to have received a bill in the first place considering the circumstances in this time of COVID-19 but even more so to get a second one after my phone call. I followed the proper procedures according to the CDC and did the responsible thing to prevent the possibility of having COVID-19 and spreading it to someone in your practice or waiting room. Your staff handled this very poorly and your practice comes across in a negative manner.

Mary Whitacre: I received a bill for missing an appointment I called the office to tell them I did not make this appointment and would like the bill removed from my account. Liz answered the phone and told me that the manager was the only one who could review it and the only way that could happen was to write a letter addressed to the attention of the one manager in the office. She would not give me the name of the manager. (I don’t know if she was having a hard day but she was less than friendly.) Really?? I have a hard time believing in this age of technology and the scale of this practice that writing a letter is the only way to question this bill.

Joyce Jones: I saw Dr Farkas in 2000. Excellent experience. Great Dr. Ten years later when time for another colonoscopy I had to see someone else. Fast forward to this year we returned to our old insurance so my primary care physician recommended Dr Farkas again. A referral was sent, I called for an appointment this is where the NIGHTMARE began. The receptionist was so rude. “We don’t have a record of you we need your medical records. So they were sent over. Emilee called me to say they were incomplete and needed records from the doctor that did my last colonoscopy. I did that. Still no appointment. In the meantime I’m having horrible stomach pains. I went to Baystate records hand delivered them to the receptionist.ok we will call you and give you an appointment. In the meantime I was taken to the emergency room. They told me to get in touch with Dr Farkas again. When the office found out That I had gone to the emergency room they want to me to get those records for them, whic I did. Still no appointment. They told me the records had to go in the system the lady that did that was on vacation.Finally I called and asked why they were refusing to give me an appointment. I spoke to a young lady Who also was rude I have never been spoken to like that. When asked if I could speak to Emilee she said “Why? So she can tell you the same thing that I told you that we are not booking any appointments for Dr Farkas I can give you another doctor but you can’t see him until June they should’ve told me that in January when I called the first time. Finally I gave up. My primary care doctor recommended Baystate gastroenterology got in right away the problem was found and taken care of. Once again Dr Farkas is great however that telephone staff was very rude.

Mary P: I've been going to Western MA GI for almost 20 years. Dorothy Sassi and Dr. Sampson are both awesome. They know where my pain is, they know what will help me, they trust me to contact them when I need to and they're caring and kind. I actually enjoy the appointments. Highly recommend.

sarah whitney: I had a wonderful first experience with Dr. McCarthy and she was very enthusiastic about helping me with my gastro issues. My second appointment on the other hand went horribly. She had me schedule a follow up for 4 weeks after the first appointment. Went in for the second appointment after they had to reschedule due to a problem with the doctor and paid my co-pay. I went into the room and Dr. McCarthy said "why are you here" and proceeded to tell me "I just have ibs there is nothing we can do about it" she gave me papers on diets i have already tried and failed. I also had a flare up a week later in awful pain and called the office they told me a nurse would call me in 20 mins. 4 hours later I called and they said the nurse will call you soon another 3 hours later I finally got a call and just did not answer due to there lack of concern. Will never go there again.

Judith Watts: Years ago I had serious pain in my abdomen and couldn't get a proper diagnosis/treatment after two trips to ER and 3 visits to primary doc. Finally I bypassed protocol and called Dr Wojcik who (using the same films and other test results as the previous ER/primary personnel) determined I had an impacted bowel, issued a prescription, a VERY painful problem solved.History repeats itself ... fast forward three years ..... same problem. I bypassed previous methods/personnel to treat the problem and went right to Dr. Wojcik. We had a CONVERSATION about my history and current situation, he wrote a prescription, again, my problem solved.During a follow-up visit, we DISCUSSED my chronic condition and Dr. Wojcik offered several options (mostly OTC meds) to use if this ever happened again. I so appreciated the fact that he INVITES a CONVERSATION in a "relaxed" manner to determine the problem, put me at ease and takes appropriate action to solve my problem. He surely is my "GO-TO" doctor!

Ben S: Everyone was nice enough and took my symptoms seriously, but I felt a little cheated. I paid a specialist co-pay to see a PA-C. Not to discount their knowledge, but when they tell you the same thing you are told by your PCP, but you're paying more money than your PCP, you start to wish you saw an experienced MD. I do understand there's only so much a look in the mouth with a description of symptoms is going to tell you, and that further investigation is required. I hope in the end they will discover the source of my symptoms and can help me, I am somewhat confident in that.
