Strain Family Horse Farm Stable + Horse Sales: what do users think?
Clare: Vet check your horses! This place is very much hit or miss! I have seen absolutely incredible horses come out of strain but I have also seen horses with terrible underlying issues who end up unsound or with severe behavioral problems. If you are willing to put in the time and money it takes to re-train a horse with an unknown past and potential physical issues that need treatment then go for it. The horses are absolutely not at fault, strain just does not tell you (or know themselves frankly) what you are really getting.
Rosemarie Doyle McKenna: I purchased a horse online from the Strain Family Horse Farm in March of 2022. I cannot say enough about the responsiveness, kindness and reliability of this bay roan named Coalport. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH to the STRAIN FAMILY!!!
Joan Kehoe: Super friendly, professional, well prepared, knowledgeable and over all a wonderful experience!
Jackie Lucas: I’ve had 2 horses from here that were totally misrepresented. I sent the first one back only to get another with the same issues. I suspect their horses are kept in an altered state which has been confirmed by a couple of reliable sources. The reason every description is almost identicle is because these horses are bought at auction and go up for sale the minute they are in the sale barn. They don’t know these horses from Adam. I bought my current horse because they claimed he was a camp horse. Must be pretty gentle then right? WRONG. I’m only keeping him because he’s been through enough and a horse like this could end up at another auction, kill pen or abused. I pray the one I sent back ended up in good hands. I also believe they are very over priced. BUYER BEWARE! Stay clear of sale barns they are all alike! There’s plenty of private sales where you’ll get what you’re looking for.
Laurie Farrow: You tell them what you're looking for and they will be able to match you to a horse. If they don't have an exact fit they can find one or match you to one that will grow to meet your needs.
Chris Gillespie: They have a good choice of horse's
JJ Hurley: Great carrots!
Alison Velchik: Knowledgeable family business with high quality horses. Excellent selection from high performance to husband horses. Up front about the horse's personality and background and patient with customers!
Conor Makepeace: Phenomenal horses. We were blown away by the selection and quality of the horses here as well as the knowledge and attentiveness of the staff. If you're looking for your next partner you'll find one here. And if it isn't working out, they have a three week guarantee just in case.
Celebrate 5157: David Strain will treat you with respect and patience and will find you a beautiful horse. The prices are resonable.
Darrell Bouchard: Awesome service and selection of horses
Seamus c: The horses are insane quality I used mine in a race and won I’ll be sure to buy 15 more
Julia Picard: Amazing horses. Over a year ago I got my paint, he was pretty good. He had strangles, and luckily didn’t give it my horses. He didn’t know how to frame and jump, which was fine to me. Now he frames/on the bit. He jumps. High quality horses, very gentle horses! If I want another horse I’ll be sure to check the horses at this farm!
Tiffany Gianpoalo: We had a party May 5th with Strain Family Horse farm and Kristen was AMAZING! We had a pleasant experience and she was very kid friendly and the pony was clean and adorable! The kids LOVED it! I would definitely recommend this company to anyone!
John Carter: Great horse farm.
Tiffani Koschitzki: I have 4 strain horses in my barn, one is my personal horse! Highly recommend for quality horses.

Crowley's Sales Barn & Stables: what do users think?
Karen: Healthy horses. Great leader on trail. Beautiful scenery
Michael Clark: Great place, nice folks they still have some good horses left here at the end of the season . . . Donkeys I don't think are for sale
April Clark: Great family run place for a trail ride. Have been here for many years, we always get an awesome person with lots of patience
Juan Real: Me and my brother went here and let me tell you, this place is amazing, the staff are patient, calm, and kind. The horses are beautiful and kept in good condition and treated well, it's a little sloppy since there's stool in most places. Payment is cheap and easy so if you are on a budget this is the place. Beautiful trail with fields and trees, and you have control of your own horse making the experience even better. The lady over the phone was very nice and explained to me the prices and how everything works. It's also very easy to find the entrance. Overall it's a great place for family and kids. 🐴
Humble Hayl: Our trail guide Joe was amazing! He had great knowledge on the horses and the ride was worth the money!
Mariam Farouk: People were very rude and cursing at my daughter
Amy Richard: My niece and I had a great experience! The horses were beautiful!! It's a beautiful piece of land and the ride was great. Joe was very nice.
Milton Shannon (Mr.Milton): Great Guy Knew Him & Stable's From 1968
dani tleis: A+
John Theadore: We recently purchased a wonderful draft cross from Crowley's and had a great experience. Alice was very accommodating to arrange an appointment for us to see the horse (we were coming in from out of state), and made sure to have an excellent rider there to show us the horse and get us set to take him for a good test ride. I was extremely pleased that they held him for a pre-purchase vet check, and helped us arrange for shipping back to our farm as well. I even got a post-purchase follow-up call just to make sure I knew details of the feed he was currently on and how to introduce him to his new surroundings, etc. I really felt that everyone at Crowley's cared about the wellbeing of the horse, and of us as customers. I am very pleased with every part of this transaction, and thrilled with our new horse.
Liza B. Knapp: Arrived and turned right around because the staff here is NOT masked in spite of standing very close to customers. Nor were they requiring customers to wear masks. I called the office to report this but they seemed unconcerned. This in spite of the fact that their website says in big letters that customers must wear masks and maintain six foot distance. Do not be misled by the website, THIS BUSINESS IS NOT COVID -SAFE.
London K: Amazing I loved how they are saving these animals from kill pens and the horses are very well cared for and are so kind!
Terry-Anne Lawler: Worth the wait! If busy, be patient & remember that the wait assures better treatment of the horses! And sweet trail horses they are! A wonderful outdoor experience & terrific workers!
Mark Daniels: Awesome place trails rides friendly staff gentile horses for all levels of riders
Fred Bovat: Its great im a big guy 6ft5 n 280lbs n they had a nice horse just for me it's an hour ride on the trails im use to riding 4x4 guards like my grizzly 600 4x4 the horse can go were i can't go il be back again .
Toni Santos: We just took a one hour family ride on the trails with Joe. Everything was great. The horses are gorgeous. We all enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend❤
Jeni Sylvester: Good experience today 8/14/20. The lady who showed us how to ride the horse was nice. My mom got on the horse but was scared and got off immediately so she didn’t ride and the lady voluntarily refunded us with no question. Very professional people. Crystal our guide was nice and patient also very educational. We learned a lot about horses. Ice cream and Spoon were very excellent horses. We will be back! Ps they offer fair pricing that’s an extra whammy!
Hazel Smith: My experience here was just ok. It could have been a lot better and I would probably not come back, but here's how it went...I called the day before to make an appointment, so I was surprised when I showed up the next day and didn't see anyone around. There aren't any clear signs indicating "parking" or "office" so once we arrived, I called again to notify them that we were there because I didn't know where to go or what to do. Eventually, Joe came out of the barn and we paid and signed paperwork. We went down to where the horses were at and they seemed wildly unprepared for riders. Joe and another girl were frantically trying to get the horses ready. Three other riders showed up (who also had made an appointment) but we all waited for about 20 minutes while they saddled up the horses. Both employees went out with us with one leading and one in the back. Once we were on the trail, both employees started smoking, which was not an enjoyable smell when you are 1. trying to enjoy nature and the open air 2. trying to avoid people's breath during a pandemic. The ride itself was fine, but a bit boring. The paths were not well trimmed or maintained, so there was a lot of ducking and trying to avoid trees and bushes. We didn't go faster than a trot, so that too was disappointing.Overall, I'd say, if you have small children and want the experience of sitting and walking on a horse, this is probably fine (and if you don't mind cigarette smoke blowing in your face). Otherwise, I'd look for something else. I'm from the midwest and have done guided trail rides before and this was NOTHING like that. The other rides I've done were on very clear paths and the guide would talk us through trotting, cantering, and galloping. They were very short bursts, so you never felt unsafe, but it was enough where you felt like you were really riding a horse. This was nothing like that, so I was pretty disappointed, especially for $40 a person.
Michael Lebron: Fun
Veronica Pellot: I went with my boyfriend today, we had an amazing time! Joe was great! Looking forward to coming back.
crosscountryhauling: Not impressed by the owners .
