They were able to interpret our ideas into a workable and beautiful plan for our back yard. Our project included new stone patios and pathways plus plantings. The design team including Stephen Roberts and Connor Malloy were so wonderful to work with. Together they have great knowledge of the materials and knew how they would fit with our ideas and yard. The build out team Julian and Isael were SOO hard working and very pleasant to work with on a day-to-day basis. Julian is a master at laying stone. I was so amazed that after working hard all day they would make sure the yard was very tidy. The designer, Connor Malloy was always ready to discuss the day-to-day progress and ready to handle or adjust things that arose as the work was being done. The whole project went so well and the final results are stunning. We would highly recommend working with Stephen A. Cody R: I'd like to leave a detailed review of my experience working with Stephen A Roberts Landscape. I was assigned Steve Roach to work with my own design ideas and make my vision come to life. There was a lot of back and forth with revisions to plan my compact backyard space. I found some scaling issues with early design iterations so I worked off Steve's plan and made adjustments so the plantings had room to grow. Steve recommended lots of plantings that I sifted through. I suggested replacements for the ones I didn't love and he made the changes happen. He was professional even though I asked for many changes throughout the early planning phases.Once work began, things moved along quickly as my backyard was fully transformed. A delay in pavers held up progress on the patio for a while but it wasn't their fault as the manufacturer couldn't handle the demand. The patio did turn out beautifully and exactly how I wanted it. The crew was kind and helpful and installed my pondless fountain I purchased for the project.The aforementioned delay did allow some of my plants to dry out during their care for them. They admitted they weren't properly irrigated and the delay allowed them to wither. They claimed they would replace them if they didn't recover next year but I was still disappointed that my new hydrangea tree flowers had all dried up. A few of the perennials were also very tiny and barely noticeable but most seem healthy now. I was actually disappointed in the volume of plantings as I had a lot of beds to fill and I prefer a dense, filled in look. I spent over $1000 on my own nursery sourced plantings to make it my own and really fill in the beds with colors. The larger trees they sourced looked beautiful and I look forward to seeing them mature over the years. I would have never been able to plant trees that large myself.To shade my new patio, I had ordered a pavilion kit from a pergola kits USA. Steve claimed it would be possible for the crew to assemble based on the instructions. They gave me a time estimate and quote which seamed reasonable and saved me having to find someone else to assembled it. Unfortunately, upon starting this unwieldy kit it became evident this was not a simple 2 day project. Frank worked very hard to solve the logistical problems of this part of the project with the help of me and the rest of the crew. It took far longer than I was initially promised but he clearly put lots of thought and care into doing it the right way. I recommend finding a crew that specializes in construction for any job of this scope because this crew lacked the equipment and manpower to make it happen in a reasonable amount of time. The bill for the labor and construction portion was very high due to this.Overall, my impressions are mostly positive. This is my first ever landscape project as a new home owner. The crew was great and everyone was professional. I would recommend working with them if you have a larger budget and want care and quality put into the project.

Leda: Contacted Steve to move a shed. He came to see the project and he gave me a fair quote. Communication was a bit of a challenge sometimes but he did excellent, professional work and his crew was nice also. Work completed in a few hours on 7/14/20. There was some damage to my lawn but he told me this might happen and it was to be expected, not really worried about it. Workmanship: 5. Communication: 3.5. Professionalism: 5. I would contact Steve for future projects and would recommend him to a friend.

Mike Landry: Stephen Roberts designed and executed a large and complex landscape project at my home in Longmeadow in the spring of 2020. We wanted to replace almost the entire front landscaping of the house, but we did want to keep some shrubs and plantings in the back and have him work around a large deck project. He had a blank slate in some areas and some tight (owner specified) constrictions in others. Stephen was extraordinarily knowledgeable about what plantings would work in different situations. He worked extremely well in concert with other contractors and two months in, the project looks fantastic. We threw a few curveballs at him along the way which he handled with ease. His crew was solid, he was in budget, and the outcome has added a great deal of value to our home.

Gema: We contacted this business on behalf of a tenant who’s yard had become troublesome. He was timely and visited the site the same day. The quote was more than fair for some lawn maintenance and extensive trash clean up. The tenants treated the back yard as their own private trash dumping grounds. So there was a fair bit of trash spread all throughout the lawn. Thank fully this company was able to come out and tackle the task in a matter of two days. I will be using them again because they were fair in price and timely. A lot of companies, especially the bigger ones, are quick to knock you over the head with prices. Not to mention they will tend to take weeks to come out and actually get the job done. It feels like I found a diamond in the rough with this one.

R R: I made the mistake of having David do some work for me after much hesitation. I initially had him come by to evaluate the job and provide me with a quote. I had a niggling feeling that he was not going to deliver for me the standard of service one would deserves from a contractor. A few weeks went by and he called me up saying that he drove by my property an noticed that the work had not started. I went against my best judgement and gave him a scaled back job based on his persistence. Everything descended into an unprofessional mire thereafter. First he showed up with two guys who appeared to have been chosen less for their physical ability and dexterity but by their exploitability. He damaged my sprinkler lines broke my bannister both acts I simply ignored. I gave him a downpayment via check for a third of the cost of the labor and the next day he told me that the check bounced. I angrily called my bank in his presence and my bank related on speaker phone that the check had not yet been presented for payment. I asked him to call his bank which he did and then he discovered that that hold was on his end. I noted that he didn't apologize. Minutes after, I saw him packing up and leaving. I asked him what's the deal and he said he's not doing anymore work until the check cleared. I fired him on the spot despite the fact that he had not completed 1/3 of the work. Be warned. If you wish to engage his services, ask for references and call them. I have severe doubts about the authenticity of some of the reviews he has received. For someone to be in business and not understand the basic workings of the banking system and the importance of politeness and customer service is baffling.Service:Patio design

FN D: Originally planned for a 12x16’ simple rectangular patio. Once they started to prepare the ground they recommended a much more elegant solution that included a curved addition including access to garage door and grilling area—only charged more for materials. Makes much more sense this way. It drains the water from a downpour perfectly away from the house. Luda Serman: Bad retaining wall installation, not leveled and not done in a straight line. Also, had a contract for weekly mowing and it’s been almost 2 months (since April) of no show. Called him asking if he’s planning to come do the job and he laughed saying “I’m sure there’s barely any grass”. Not good customer service.

Stephanie Sanabria: I found this company online and submitted a consultation request after reading some good reviews. The owner showed up the next morning before 7am without notice stating that someone was supposed to have contacted me but they didn't. He was very nice and personable at first, offering me ideas to clean up my back yard. I wanted concrete pad removal, along with Japanese knotweed (which is highly invasive), a new lawn and a basic patio. Within a day or two, he texted me a quote. The concrete cleanup and yard work was very reasonable but patio cost was too high. We spent some time negotiating but couldn't come to an agreement so I didn't move forward with that part. He didn't seem interested in working with me since I couldn't afford a high-end patio.He asked to stop by the next day to sign the contract but he didn't explicitly state that he was expecting 2/3rds deposit via check which is not what we discussed during the consultation. I told him that I don't keep checks in my house. He said I had to pay the deposit THAT day because they were leaving for another job. So he made me bring my sick kids out of the house the next morning, in the rain, to meet him with a money order almost 40 minutes away at another person's home.We set a date for them to begin work and I called Dig Safe. He wanted to start the week before and I told him that Dig Safe wouldn't allow it and I never heard back. They showed up around 9-930 on the morning the job was to begin. The owner rushed in, told me the job would take a few days, instructed his guys and then left. I left a few hours later to go to work.Later that afternoon, he called my cell phone and said "Where are you?!" and I told him that I was at work. He said, "Well I'm trying to get paid." I explained that I left because he said the job would take a few days not a few hours. He came the next day, took his check, and never contacted me again. Not even a follow up or anything.I realized quickly why the job was done so fast, the workers were very sloppy. I have no idea if the owner even checked their work but if he did then he needs glasses or an attitude adjustment towards single mothers who are trying to make a nice safe spot for their kids and can't afford a $15,000 backyard makeover.I asked the workers to be mindful of my children's burial plot for Nemo & Dory and they were laughing and joking about it (I heard them which was rude.) Additionally, they didn't bother to move to the swing set or the playhouse when they graded and seeded the lawn. They just legit went around it! There are a ton of weeds and no seed in those spots, along the perimeter of the fence, and they didn't remove all of the knotweed which is growing back faster because it wasn't excavated properly (as discussed). The seed that they did place was sparse and I am going to have to buy more. (I texted the owner the next day asking what kind of seed they used for this reason but he didn't respond.)They cracked my driveway, left a ton of mud all over it and a mess in the front area of the lawn. They also knocked down the fence a bit and only cut the vines that were directly hanging over it even though I told them they could go behind it to get it all taken out. I also hurt my foot via finding three bricks and a piece of concrete that they just covered in sand near the side of my house. I dont know where the sand came from but grass seed doesn't grow in sand!Overall, they did what I hired them to do but they were very sloppy and rude about it and with all the money that I paid, I should not have to clean up after them especially being a single mother - I don't have the time!!Services:Grading resloping,Concrete masonry,Grass seeding
