Thomas J O'Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center: what do users think?
Hank Sundell: Thoughtful and knowledgeable staff helped me and my mom adopt a great couple of dogs.
Sara Settimio: I’ve had my dog now for 5 years and truly don’t get why they first told me she was untrainable and aggressive when in reality she was just scared because the couple who initially adopted her ended up returning her not even a week later. They allowed an old couple to adopt a 6 month old puppy and when she was brought back they tried to get me to not adopt her claiming she was “too aggressive and doesn’t get along with cats”. Clearly don’t listen to anyone that works there, whatever they tell you about the pet you want to adopt is for sure the complete opposite. The fact that they’re a kill shelter should tell you everything.
Kimberly Toote: Very friendly people I would go there any time
Victor L: Great spot with caring people!
Jennifer Reynolds: They don't really seem to want to adopt animals. Appointment only and you can't look at the animals. Sorry I drove down for nothing. They also have a hazardous parking lot with poles falling down.
Hannah Worpek: Do not support TJO!! They are so quick to put down animals that in no way need to be euthanized. Look up Goober's story. He was an 8 month old rottweiler that they put down. A rescue was literally going to take him and they put him down. I keep hearing more stories about them killing animals for no reason. This has to stop.
Johna Keefe: Putting a dog down when another organization would take it is inhumane. I thought this was a no kill shelter? Whoever made that decision should be fired. And marketing your business as a no kill shelter is false marketing to the public and should be reported to the better business bureau at least. I guess put this place on the list you hope your dog doesn't wind up in if it gets lost.
justin hebert: If Lori Swanson is still employed there after what she did to goober the dog you all should get less then 1 star
Jemma May: This animal control center follow breed-discrimination and don’t have correct knowledge or training regarding large breed dogs. Please if you have a dog that is a; Rottweiler, Pitbull, German Shepard, Bull Arab, Bull Mastif, Ect RETHINK supporting this business! Recently murdered a 6 month old puppy “Gobber” as he was deemed “viscous”. This story this available, please do your research regarding this facility, they do not have your pets best interest at heart.
Kris Donovan: We adopted a bunny from here. Initially, he was a biter, but we kept on loving him, and now he just loves being petted. Occasionally, he nips, just enough to let you know he's the boss. Update: we now have 2 bunnies, which are too much. They are very territorial, and will fight each other if the opportunity arises. We only let 1 out at a time. Trust me, one bunny is enough.
Steven N.: This shelter needs to be shut down. Over the past few months I have been denied the ability to adopt a pitbull dog they deemed "aggressive" when the dog was friendly towards children at an adoption event.Recently, they put down a Rottweiler pup due to a lack of knowledge on the breed and behavior. This shelter is an example of what happens when state mandates push towards hiring people based on political alignment, gender identity, and what fake colleges degree you have. The days of having people that actually know animal behavior, veterinary care, breed specific behavior, and common sense have gone out the window.I feel ashamed that I adopted a dog from this shelter back in 2007.
derrick miller: Terrible organization that kills puppys for being just that, puppies!! This place should never open their doors again with terrible humans like that within their walls. These people are supposed to be advocates for these animals, absolutely disgusting!
Olivia Thivierge: Be careful, they put down puppies that need training because they apparently don’t have the patience to train them. If you need more info on this just look into Goober the 6 to 8 month old Rottweiler. I’m sure you’ll find the video of the “vicious attack caught on camera”. The video will show a puppy who GENTLY nipped Lori who was handling him with ZERO patience or compassion.
Cece Mae: you killed that rottie pup for no reason. Lori, you are filth. HE WAS A BABY
Nick Scatuorchio: DEATH CAMP WITH ABSOLUTE HORRORS FOR HUMAN BEINGS IN CONTROL OF ANIMALS
jamie roberge: I've adopted three awesome cats from here. My coworker has also adopted two wonderful dogs. Highly recommended
LALA Cello: They do everything they can to help animals especially when they get lost to reunite them back to the owner. And give shelter to lost pets.
Sheila Manolarakis: Clean facility , gentle staff and the cutest 4 legged little guys and girls waiting to be loved
Melissa Jean: Thank you Ms Swanson for all your beautiful work
Denise Shaikh: Caring and kind, I was surprised. Not what I expected there great
Don Williams: Very kind, welcoming staff who genuinely care about the animals.
