Al DeRosa: After driving around my home state of Connecticut yesterday trying to find lumber, I was close to giving up! I took a shot today to 84 Lumber in West Springfield. I was met at the counter by a smiling gal named Katie. Before long it was me that was smiling as she told me that she had the entire list of lumber that I was looking for right in stock in her yard. After cashing me out, she directed me to the lumber. She then helped me sort it AND load it on my truck. Katie is a true testament of SUPERIOR service. I will be back and promise to spread the word! Thomas Rooney: I worked for 84 lumber starting in 2001 in Malvern Arkansas! Moved back home and worked out of West Springfield! Moved to Florida and was Warehouse Supervisor at Fort Myers yard! Moved back north and worked out of Plainville Ct. Accepted a mgmt position and moved to New Jersey working out of 84 Lumber in Pennington! After 2 years there they closed down our yard with no notice on my birthday! Really ticked off! Accepted a lower paying position just to stay with the company and worked out of Fairless Hills Pa for about 6 months totally dis-gruntled and degraded! After selling millions of dollars for this company it ended miserably. 6 yards in 6 different states! Who does that?

I was interested in purchasing a tool, but with no way to test to see if it actually worked. So, with the return policy as it is, I couldn't bring myself to make the purchase.

RC: Went there 7/24 to pick up $1600 worth of cabinets I bought. The 2 balding male employees were very rude. I was in the store and they were complaining about helping move the items out of the store, right in front of me. one of them started dragging the cabinets and I asked him not to man handle it, and he threw it down in a childish way and told me I could always just do it myself. Unprofessional workers with a bad attitude. Unless you're in a pinch for cabinets and heavy things, go somewhere else.

On a whim, I decided in the middle of our kitchen renovation that the room needed more light. My builder told me I was basically out of luck since ordering a new window could take up to 3 months, and he needed a window in hand in less than two days’ time. I was at work and couldn’t get to Eco before they closed, so in less than 24 hours I scheduled an online consult through the EcoBuilding website, was shown two possibilities via FaceTime by Rusty (who emailed pics and measurements), purchased the ideal window online, picked it up as soon as they opened the next day, and my builder had it installed by noon. So, so happy. Excellent service, EcoBuilding!

I was excited to get home and open my new Fein Multimaster as I had envisioned 10 different jobs I wanted to tackle once home. I opened the box which was to include 2 kits in one and unfortunately was missing one kit. I was able to call Bob Boilard and explain the situation and he immediately remedied the problem. Professional and prompt customer service I will definitely keep Boilard Tools in mind for future orders.

Jon Cooper: This place has to have some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. If they have what I need I will always choose to be there over Home Depot or Lowe’s as I don’t have to wait around for some one who doesnt want to help me in the first place. There’s a reason all the area contractors go there and it’s because time is valuable. The quality of materials is great and they will take back lumber you don’t use and credit you. They also will price match on power tools.

I assessed several lumber yards in assistance with my new home build and Kelly Fradet came out on top for all of my lumber and shingle needs. I worked closely with the East Longmeadow branch and Corey Eldridge from that location. This was my first time building a new home and serving as my own general contractor for all the work. Corey was very patient and answered all the questions that I had along the way. He provided timely responses and worked closely with my builder to fulfill adhoc orders and provided expertise and input on several lumber needs. He also helped ensure that I was able to secure the shingles that we wanted which were extremely hard to find. Andrew Kimball: Customer service was a little slow when I was in to pick up an order, but they definitely were doing their best given the apparent short staffing situation that they're dealing with! Which is unfortunately quite abundant these days in many service industries...But overall a decent store, although I don't frequent this particular location much, they usually have had what I've needed.
Mark Whelden: Going downhill. Can hardly walk with stuff parked in the aisles! Looks like it would be a disaster if a fire broke out. Staff is unavailable or untrained. Used to be the best. Website says stuff is in stock, drive 15 miles. Not in stock. The website works OK but regular items are hard to find, even with the app. Especially small items in bins, plumbing, fasteners etc. Mostly because customers out stuff back in the wrong place because they don't know what it is in the first place. Some cashier's avoid contact when no-one else is in line. I understand the staffing shortages, and usually am polite and lenient. Now I just stick to polite and write a review. Now, I'm entirely PO'd that that new 18" Husky battery chainsaw is impossible to find the cost of a spare battery in the website & the store. Everyone that ever used a battery tool knows you need a spare in a charger for when the tool one goes dead. That's how work gets done. Not everybody is a amateur! Been a Husky, Stihl guy for over 40years. Got a little Kobalt to try. But just for branches. Oh well. Ryobi here I come. That isn't on the local store either. That issue is deceptive corporate policy. You won't even show your plastic outdoor chairs on the website so we can tell if it's Adirondack or flat. Another 30 mile round trip waste of time. Even Rocky's can put a picture on their site.
Paul Dermond: This place is horrific. The mouse smell is eye watering. I don’t know how this place has not been sued or shut down. The management here is abysmal and the employees are constantly stressed dealing with the broken systems at Lowe’s that appear to be dated by several decades. Shopping here is never as efficient as it should be or convenient. There is a reason everyone calls Lowe’s “the Walmart of home improvement stores.” Walmart does things even better than Lowes, so that’s not really an insult anymore.
Lisa & Robert: Terrible!!! The salesman Mark was great and very knowledgeable. When it came to the delivery and installation,that was a nightmare. It started with the fact that the wrong prong plug for the dryer was ordered. When we realized this 2 days before delivery, we called customer service to take care of the problem and switch the plug for us. They kept transferring us back and forth between the Appliance department and customer service because nobody knew how to do their job. We got hung up on, called back and was told they would have extras on the truck and the delivery installation guys would take care of it. Delivery day comes, ask the guy if they have extra cords they said no, said call the store and another truck would come with the right cord and install it. These guys didn’t install anything and left both units in the middle of the basement floor! We called the store they said they couldn’t do anything today, they can send someone tomorrow. We have jobs and have to go to work that’s why we scheduled the delivery install on the weekend. They were rude, and unwilling to correct anything. I am highly annoyed and disappointed in the Springfield, MA Lowe’s. There are good helpful people there, but the ones who don’t care about their job or helping people totally takes away the good employees efforts. This was a real horrible experience.
