Jim Gardner: I’ve known Celia for at least 25 years, mostly as a performer, but I’ve just had my first session with her as a vocal coach and it went so well. I had an injury that led to 8 years of physical difficulty in my upper body and constriction to my neck and throat. From this, I lost access to the high range of my singing voice and lacked the ability to retain my breath for held notes in my lower range.So there I was, in hopes of gaining a little of my voice back and over an hour, Celia made me understand what was causing me issues with my vocal cords. She put me through vocal exercises and while doing them, pointed out the difference between what I had been experiencing and then doing an exercise to correct that issue, which was very enlightening.At then end of the hour, I felt a clearness and openness to my chest/lungs that I hadn’t felt in a long time. I didn’t really know what could be improved, but the description of her approach on her website was so logical and encouraging that I was hopeful. Celia immediately identified the places I knew my voice broke & helped me understand why - what was going on with the vocal chords - and has been working with my voice, adjusting lesson by lesson, with techniques that are working, and also fun.
