Sonoma Restaurant: what do users think?
larry ciummo: Decent food and drinks in a nice atmosphere. Limited menu and menu is on the pricey side.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lot …More
Patricia Coz: Great menu, great drinks. Have not had a bad meal.
Elina Krit: This restaurant is one of the best, the staff was really friendly& the food was amazing& they were very helpful with diatery requirements.
Taylor Eloi: Sonoma has such a nice relaxing, high class feel. Gigi the manager is very accommodating and caring towards your needs. I tried the salmon dinner and it was amazing! Definitely a must try spot!!
Bobby OKeefe: This is not Sonoma of Princeton. This so called award winning resturant is stealing credit from Chef Bill Brady and his incredible Sonoma in Princeton. While it may be true that Brady sold Sonoma to the Beechwood it is only the same name not the same chef, service or food. If you want to try Chef Brady then check out his new place in Leominster, Bradys!
O M: Way understaffed so service is really slow. Waited a long time to get seated. The food presentation was awesome and the ambiance is quite fancy. The taste was okay but the flavors didn't always match. The chicken shawarma is not really a shawarma because it's not cut and definitely not hung -- it's just whole chicken parts.Parking: A ton of parking because it's part of a hotel.
Zachary Paquette: Had a wonderful experience and the food was amazing. The waitresses name was Chantelle she made the whole thing with wonderful service and great recommendations I would highly recommend it
P Easy: Was looking forward to this place but totally not impressed. Arrived and got seated,... hostess just gave us wine menus not food menus, so that was the mediocre start to our Saturday night. We ordered the mussels for an appetizer but apparently they were out of mussels. Our drinks were fine, I enjoyed the local beer draft. My wife ordered the Filet Mignot which was delicious, I ordered the Lobster scampi (40 bucks) which was VERY disappointing. When they placed the bowl down there was a slight watery reddish pool at the bottom of the bowl from the tomatoes. The pasta was not even flavorful and there was about 1 claw of lobster meat in the whole dish. No creamy sauce that a normal scampi would have. To top it off their debit/credit card machine was out of service when trying to pay the bill. I was completely disappointed in this place
Barbara O'Neal: Great food and atmosphere at a classic hotel.
Justin Drake: I will say the waitstaff was great. That being said I'll echo a lot of the sentiments here. Sonoma was one incredible... but as of late more of a disappointment. The lobster ravioli was served as a broth and the filet was meh. Considering what they once were and the price, truly sad
Francis Soyer: Anyone/Everyone that likes fine dining should check out Sonoma at the Beechwood Hotel.I see some of the critical reviews below that were based on COVID shutdown and staff shortages etc., BUT things have changed drastically here for the good. Sonoma has reopened and the new Chef John is EXCELLENT and the menu is absolutely FNATASTIC. Very creative and imaginative. Gigi the manager is also excellent. They are the new team there now, and deserve and award for what they've done.I've eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world (Paris, Rome etc.) - but I will say the new Chef John and the menu he created are as good as it gets. The creativity, imagination in the menu items/choices John has created is simply top notch. The prices are very fair/reasonable (esp now w/inflation).We've been going here for 20+ years and this is by far the best menu and dining experience we've ever had at Sonoma. The food and menu items show a lot of originality and artistry that you typically don't see except in highest end restaurants in some of the big cities - and they still wouldn't match Sonomas menu.Everything we had was excellent. You can't beat this place now.p.s. we have no connection to the staff etc. - and normally I would not go out of my way to do a review like this, except this place (and the turnaround) was simply that good. What a great surprise.
Marco Spataro: Sonoma is a shell of its former self. The pandemic really transformed this restaurant. What was once a premier Worcester eatery has turned into an overpriced rip-off.Despite the other negative reviews and my own recent negative experiences, I had so many wonderful experiences at Sonoma in the past that I was willing to give it another chance. I was once again greeted by the obnoxious sign that begs your patience in light of "staff shortages caused by the pandemic" - an excuse that you may be waiting upwards of 10-15 minutes just to be seated. Thankfully, this wasn't the case for me. I had a nice server and she did a nice job being attentive throughout my lunch, though the restaurant wasn't near full capacity. My first course was the Tuna app with white noodles set at market price and pictured below. The dish was average at best, and contained very very little tuna. The white noodles at the bottom of the plate where hard as a rock and tasted like something you find in the microwave aisle. However, when I got the check, I was absolutely mortified at the price of this dish - $28. This is a laughable price given the proximity of Sonoma to the Sole Proprietor, who sets their comparable tuna dishes far lower. For reference, I have included a picture of the tuna app I ordered at the Sole Proprietor which was less than half the price with nearly double the tuna. I understand that when something is set at market price, you are entering a territory where prices can vary from week to week. I suppose I should have asked just to clarify. Nevertheless, for $28, I at least expected the dish to be prepared with some finesse, and not box noodles.I also ordered a chicken Caesar salad which was just ok. Nothing to be too excited about. The entire bill after tip came to well over $50. I would be happy to pay this price if the overall experience was elegant and refined. It was not. While Sonoma seems to be working on the courtesy of their staff, the quality and quantity of their food has really gone downhill. I will not be returning to Sonoma - look to the Sole Proprietor, Willy's Steakhouse, or Leo's for a fine dining experience.
Jaime Melendez: Super dark place , we don not try the food , there was not much option at the time we went , we couldn’t see the menu so we left
Ciera Guertin: Had the pleasure of Adam as our server, and he was wonderful! The food was delicious AND we got a desert on the house for the wait on the entree. The atmosphere and staff definitely made this experience 10/10. We will be back again. Thank you!
ian hickey: Breakfast was pretty bad. The coffee was Luke warm. The American Breakfast for $22 was terrible. With so many diners serving a passable American breakfast, if you're not even that good, don't bother. Menu said fresh preserves. It's plastic packets of Smuckers. Ripoff. Hard pass.
Liam Dempsey: Ruined Mother's Day. Sonoma is a sad, embarrassing shell of its former self. We made a reservation for breakfast to celebrate Mother's Day but a reservation was not necessary since we were told we could sit at any of the available dirty, unbussed tables. After ten minutes we were "greeted" by an annoyed waitress who told us that we had to wait for her to take orders from two other tables then walked away. Didn't give us menus or offer coffee. We decided to leave. What was once an amazing restaurant is now a second-rate hotel restaurant better suited for a Holiday Inn Express than the Beechwood Hotel.
Tina Lorusso: EXCELLENT Service by Nicole.....and the food was outstanding.....
Maryann Carlos: I use to love this place. I celebrated many occasions here. My last experience was totally unacceptable. It was for my birthday December 2021. First my sister surprised me by paying for my meal. However, as I was finishing my wine waiting for the waitress to clarify the payment I glanced over and seen a mouse scurry right by me. I was mortified. My husband had to tell the waitress about the surprise payment because the Manager never communicated that to her. When she returned we told her about the mouse and she said she would get the Manager. No one ever came, we waited 15 minutes. I am so disappointed. Nothing was done about this and I will never celebrate there again.
D. Mulligan: Save your money. This restaurant is an overpriced embarrassment. Once upon a time, this location had a fantastic restaurant called Ceres where the high prices felt justified. Then Ceres closed and the famed Sonoma of Princeton, MA moved in. And things went steadily downhill. We’ve now visited twice and I doubt we ever will again. The first time the menu itself was underwhelming but we chalked that up to pandemic times, as the food was well prepared and nicely plated. The second time the menu was even less exciting and the food not remotely worth the prices. To start, we ordered a Sonoma salad. For $12, we were served three cucumber slices, one and a half cherry tomatoes, a few slivers of red onion, and a pathetically small handful of spring mix, much of which was wilted and unappetizing. For entrees, my husband had swordfish and I had halibut. All the fish was over cooked and the accompanying sides stingy. At over $30 a plate, we were appalled by the poor preparation and skimpy portions. The best thing on either of our plate was the quinoa with my fish, which was fluffy and pleasant in texture and although totally void of any seasoning whatsoever. Nonetheless, it being a special occasion, we ordered dessert: a decaf cappuccino and a crème brule. The coffee with delightful. The dessert was awful. The top wasn’t a crisp brûlée crust, more of a soggy skin, and the custard was lumpy. It was topped with sad wilted blueberries and—I do not kid—cool whip. And it cost $11. All told, with some wine, our meal cost nearly $150 before tip. If it cost half, I’d say, oh well, that wasn’t great. But at $150, I felt like I’d been scammed. There are dozens of better places in Worcester. Skip this one.
Holly Biedugnis: Awesome food and service!
Sandra Stafford: Went to celebrate our 51st anniversary…was pleased when the online reservation asked if we were celebrating anything…thought that it would be nice if they mentioned it to us. Nope not a word. They were out of two items we wanted on the menu (even though the restaurant was less than 1/4 filled). I ordered a margarita with sugar vs salt on rim…drink came with salt! I ordered a Filet, my husband Rigatoni…and a half bottle of wine. My steak arrived sans steak knife. It took at least 10 minutes before my steak knife arrived. Meanwhile, my husband had eaten most of his meal…and we had not been served our wine. We were both basically finished with our meals before the dinner wine arrived. The server quickly poured the wine without letting us taste it and left. The wine (a Cabernet) was undrinkable…had a strong metallic acid taste/bouquet. Bottom line: food was good but over-priced, service was woefully inadequate…they did not charge us for the wine.

M. G.: Probably the best restaurant in Worcester.
Domenic Lamberti: Food and drinks incredible!!
Shanming Li: 1. Very overpriced food, can't get full if you order other stuff besides a burger or chicken2. Forced to charge 20% tips no matter if their service deserves it or not, not letting you decide3. They charge a fee to cut birthday cake, on top of 20% tips4. They charge $7 for French fries, it doesn't come with burger (burger itself is $18)5. Environment is just like a normal cafe restaurant, nothing special for averagely cost $50-$70/person

Gina Hart: Wow! It is rare we go out to a meal and wonder… “ when is the last time I had such good food?” The only thing I didn’t like about this place is the name. We were a party of three and we each ordered different things from the menu (squash risotto, pan seared chicken, short ribs, Cesar salad) and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We exchanged bites with each other and everyone agreed: each was equally fantastic. Service and help pairing meals to drinks and dessert was thoughtful, patient, accurate and we never felt rushed. The peanut butter sorbet and chocolate chip combo = magic! Highly recommend and wish we were local so we could enjoy this restaurant regularly. Tip: we arrived at 5:30 or a Saturday and were seated right away. A long line of hopeful diners that had to wait began to form about ten minutes later. As far as I know, they don’t take reservations so go early (although it is definitely worth the wait!)
