Eggroll Lady and Fish Shack: what do users think?
Alexander Dandreta: I ordered the fish and chips. Haddock was dry and chewy which means it's not fresh. I think it was leftover from previous week because remember they close for 4 days so they have to freeze what they don't sell. If I go back it'll be just for chicken or egg rolls

Alfred Benoit: Friendly people, great food, good portions
Patrick Pane: TLDR: If you are within 50 miles of this place, JUST GO.First, the people here are incredible and super nice. We drove from Boston to try and called our order ahead. They took our order but told us to call when we are 10 minutes away so it would be fresh. When we got there to pick up our order they had some chicken fingers, fried and 2 crab Rangoon for us just because, "you drove an hour to get here you must be hungry."Second, all if the food was incredible. The chicken tenders were tender and juicy. The scallops were melt-in-your-mouth good. The fish fry was perfection and the tartar sauce was just incredible.Last, the prices here are so good and you really feel welcome when you're here. Even tho it was busy they were friendly and welcoming to everyone who came in.This restaurant is putting good out into the world. Please give them a try
Pete Balzer: Can't tell you how many times I have passed this in my life. Read it was highly rated and figured I would take the suspense away. Ordered the 5 pack. Wow 8 bucks equals 5 egg roll and 1 crab Rangoon. I was just gonna eat 1 or 2 but couldn't stop until all was abolished!! Hours are funky, but worth planning for!!
Irving Cabassa: Lovely people. Great service and amazing food. Drove 45 miles for it. Best Egg rolls I have ever had. And I cook Asian food. I can tell fresh. Try the Tempura Shrimp dipped in fish sauce... (If you are not allergic).Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Paul Dooling: The best fish and chips in the area. Crispy battered haddock, delicious fries that are not heavy, and delicious coleslaw makes it a weekly visit. 😋

The Sole Proprietor: what do users think?
Andrew Greenwood: Five stars. Excellent food and service...oysters, chowdah, lobstah roll, seared tuna. From NE classics to new American seafood -- all very very good. And the service is attentive, but not overly so.
Gina Pugach: My family and I went to dinner with a 5pm reservation. We arrived a few minutes late and the service was amazing. Thankfully we ordered my kids meals relatively quickly because we waited over 1.5 hours to get our soup and salad. We had to get ourEntree to go because it took sooooo long to get the food out. We fortunately ordered apps so we had that because otherwise we would have been waiting. I’m glad my kids were fed but 1.5 hours for entrees is unacceptable. We told the manager on our way out how terrible the timing was and she didn’t really care.I’ve been a fan of the Sole for a long time and this was by far the worst experience.

Albert Vo: An excellent place to visit when you're in town. I have to admit that the seafood here is super fresh and flavorful. All the dishes came out amazing and delicious. Our host Marie is super friendly, nice and funny! She made our dinner meal much more enjoyable with her wits and jokes. I will definitely be back when I come visit Massachusetts next time.Tips: make sure you call to make a reservation ahead of time because you don't want to wait in a long line.I definitely recommend their fresh oysters and shrimp cocktails the most!Kid-friendliness: A fun family experience for everyone to enjoy.Parking: They have a large parking space, but it can fill up quickly because they are quite popular in the area. You might have a hard time finding parking during peak hours, especially dinner time.
Modern “Modern Butterfly” Butterfly: I recently had a very disappointing experience at the Sole Proprietor. My husband, my son and I were celebrating a special occasion and were looking forward to a delicious seafood meal, but unfortunately, that's not what we got.We started. off with some appetizers; fried clams, steamers, clams casino and a beer for each my husband and son (i was not drinking). Unfortunately, the steamers were undercooked and very sandy, the clams casino very chewy & the fried clams were cold. We didn't complain bc we didn't want to ruin our special dinner. But the worst part of the night came just after we ordered our entrees (we each ordered 2lb. lobsters). When my husband and son tried to order a second beer, the waitress refused to serve them, saying she wanted to make sure we got home safely. We were in disbelief, since neither my husband nor son were remotely drunk on one beer and we were quietly enjoying our time together. Furthermore, I explained that we had taken an Uber to the restaurant! She still refused to serve them. She called the manager over and he also refused to serve them. It was a very unpleasant and ridiculous situation, especially since they are responsible drinkers and have never been loud, rude nor disruptive in any way. What's even more frustrating is that this has never happened to us anywhere before, except THIS restaurant. We were hoping the previous incident was just. a one-off during Covid. It's insulting and outrageous to accuse us of being drunk and saying we are incapable of making responsible decisions.I would not recommend Sole Proprietor to anyone. The food was subpar, and the staff's behavior unacceptable. It's a shame because we were looking forward to a great. dining experience, but instead we left feeling disappointed and disrespected.I'd be curious to know if this has happened to anyone else here? Clearly, I understand an establishment cutting a customer off if the customer is indeed drunk. But what i mean is has anyone else been cut off when they are not? What is the deal here?

Anne Edgington: We arrived a bit early for our reservation, but were seated right away. Our servers, Brendan and Earnest came over promptly and took our drink order. Tip: the 1/2 bottles of wine are a great deal and let’s you order white or sparkling with the appetizer and red with the meal. We ordered oysters and a 1/2 bottle of sparkling rose from Alsace. Brendan volunteered to take our picture and arranged our table to maximize the shot. We both ordered the filet and lobster tail and easily substituted a vegetable for a starch. We also got a 1/2 bottle of A to Z Pinot noir. The service the two provided was top notch. I could see on the corner of my eye that they would both would regularly glance over to see if we needed anything. A great tactic to ensure our needs were met without hovering. The steak was cooked to perfection Pink inside with a little char on the outside. The lobster tail was probably the best I’ve ever eaten. It was tender and succulent. The Sole Proprietor is not cheap, but boy do you get what you pay for. Thank you Brendan and Ernie for a wonderful evening.
Ross Davis: Beautiful building. Food was a 10. Went with a party of 7 and it was all good. Lobster rolls and crab cakes were amazing from my experience. Price was pretty decent for the reputation it has!
Lisa Casey: Being a third generation seafood dealer I am fussy. Horribly fussy. I’m not so at the Sole Proprietor… Wonderful experience and the staff are attentive. No one goes home disappointed even me!Kid-friendliness: The kids eat! Can’t complain about that. They see it’s a special place and show their best manners.
James Joyce: Good food and great service. Prices are inflated so if you don't mind paying extra then it's worth the trip.Parking: Plenty of parking!
