Rose Monahan Hospice Home: what do users think?
Amber Lemoyne: i will never be able to truly find the words to describe how perfect Rose Monahan was for my dad in his final days. the view from his room was beautiful and so perfect for him. the staff were kind, caring, and treated him with the utmost respect and always made sure he was comfortable. they allowed myself, my mom, and my siblings to all be with him when he passed and i will forever thank them for that. they showed me and my family nothing but kindness from the second we walked in the doors that first day to the second we walked out for the final time. i am deeply sorry for anyone having to make the decision to put their family member in a hospice home as i know first hand how hard to that is, but you will not regret placing them here.
sue madden: thank you guys for taking care of my dad his last 2 days meant alot an he died peacefully i can't thank you enough for all the round care you gave him id reccomend anyone love one whos on hospice goes here :)
Richard Mansfield: The staff at Rose Monahan work tirelessly in providing exceptional end of life care for people in Central Massachusetts. They create a peaceful, caring, and warm environment during a difficult time. Thank you for dedicating your time and efforts to all of the residents and their loved ones. We are honored to serve and continue the mission of helping families. ~ Your friends at Miles Funeral Homes
Sharon Halter: My mother recently passed away here and we couldn't have been more pleased with her care. The entire staff was kind and caring and demonstrated a generosity of spirit that you absolutely need at a time like this. I genuinely felt that they cared for mom the way we would have if she were home with us. In addition to the staff I should mention that the hospice house is a warm, intimate, and impeccably maintained facility in a quiet residential area overlooking a beautiful reservoir. Each of the 10 private rooms has a balcony or walk out patio which makes for a very comforting setting. While there are larger and newer hospice options closer to our home in Acton I would definitely choose the Rose Monahan Hospice Home if we had to do it again. And so would mom.
Kelly Green: Wonderful caring and dedicated staff with a beautiful location. Walking families through our last ml moments with loved ones is no easy task but the staff and Rose Monhan handles this duty with the upmost dignity and respect. Absolutely recommend this place!
Kathryn Wells: My grandfather and father both spent their final days here, and I have only praise for the facilities and staff. Both deserve the highest possible recommendation.
Peter Dumas: A very welcoming greeting here for my mother-in-law....we were told by the director that this place would provide the warmth, care, and attention that she needed ("If there's anything you need, just ask" is a direct quote from her). Day one included a nice meal, nice view of the lake, we were happy.....we've never been though this before, so this all sounded great. And then, day 2 (yes, day 2). During our visit, we were told in no uncertain terms what the place COULDN'T do for mom....how they only had a small staff, that they had other patients to attend to, that they only had nurses for limited coverage, etc. Okay, so we tried to reconcile the expectations from Day 1 meeting with the director with the apparent realities of what this place really was, and started asking some simple questions, which were met with excuses and defiance, not empathy or caring. When we questioned the protocol for answering her alarm button, we were met not with an understanding explanation but a defiant attack on our questions and statements that our mom may actually have to wait if she fell while the staff attended to cleaning other patients. What we thought would be a caring, nurturing place that would make our mom comfortable in her last days quickly turned into a heartless, antagonistic environment. Quite frankly, we couldn't get her out of there fast enough.I'm sure there are some caring, kind and sincere staff here....but the staff and manager we met were certainly not among them, and we really felt that we were sold a 'bill of goods' when we enrolled in here. The facility itself is spectacular (which is why we're giving it one star), but if the support staff doesn't really care about the well being of its patients and the emotional impact of the families involved, all the nice rooms are useless. You would think that a place whose mission is to provide comfort, care, and well being during an emotional time would put patient care above filling out forms and paperwork, but that's not what we experienced here. Obviously, we were very, very disappointed and upset with our experience here......
Carla Welsh: My father was recently at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. I worked for many years at MGH and so have very high expectations when it comes to medical care. The nursing and support staff exceeded my expectations. They took care of my father like he was their own. The setting is peaceful and reminiscent of a lakeside cottage. We made the drive from Concord on a daily basis and had no regrets. This is a very special place.
Jim McSherry: Not good
Kathy Gour: Beautiful setting, very caring staff.

Notre Dame Hospice: what do users think?
Colleen R: My mom was there several years ago and the care was awesome. However recently mom was in Notra Dame Rehab after being discharged from the hospital and had a lot if problems going to doctor appointments. They constantly cancelled them due to transportation. Her shoulder got injured while she was there also. Without going into detail I will be sure she will not be sent there again.I do want to add that the PT and OT women are awesome and are not part of the problem.
Karen Hogan: I had the pleasure of visiting Notre Dame recently and was so impressed. A beautiful, peaceful campus and friendly, happy staff and residents. The recent renovation to their Assisted Living spaces are fantastic. Can’t say enough good things about this community.
joseph zack: I go and visit my aunt, the place seems very nice
Peter Ishkanian: My family has used Notre Dame Hospice just recently for my Dad who just passed away, and for my Mom seven years ago. I have never met such kind and caring people ever in my life. They went above and beyond to help us. I highly recommend them.
Joseph Bagnell: Notre Dame has a very caring staff. There priority is the resident. I know nursing homes and Notre Dame is one of the best nursing homes in Worcester County. Their staff are great, friendly, reliable, professional and give the up most respect and dignity to your loved one. The staff engage with the residents and make each and every resident feel liked and loved. The nursing staff especially the C.N.A.'s are the backbone to why Notre Dame has the rating it does. The nurses and C.N.A.'s take such good care of each of their residents and love each one of them as their own relative. Thats what makes Notre Dame stand out from the rest. Its not just a job to the staff at Notre Dame it what they were meant to do.Their meal plan has a very good option of food for each meal. All sorts of different ice creams. Notre Dame also has a variety assortment of drinks to choose from unlike many nursing homes which only have the basic few options. There linen and towels and face cloths are soft not rough like many other nursing homes.Their equipment is up to date and not out of date and old and unreliable. If you're looking to place a loved one in a home, look into Notre Dame. Highly recommend! 5 stars.
Jody Hurd: Found this place to be a loving community for all residents regardless of their religious affiliation. My father-in-law couldn't say enough good things about the staff and Sisters. Dad was a deacon emetrius of a Baptist church in Maine. He especially enjoyed talking about faith stimulating. He also participated in their hospice program. I was so happy to have him t.here
Maria Ouellette: Beautiful grounds. Seem to provide excellent care to their residents.
Shabd Khalsa: My father is being treated here, and it is the best place on earth for a loved ones care, simply exceptional care by exceptional people!!
Carol Morello: My mother was there for a short time and I am sorry now I didn't choose somewhere else. The first interaction was the room swap. Because my mother stayed in her chair, they moved her from the first room they assigned to another. A stressful event. The next event, her oxygen. They took her to the dining area and she was feeling ill. Luckily, my husband was there and saw her oxygen tank was empty. Second stressful event. After this, her PA told me to call her anytime for any reason which I thought was nice. One day, I wanted them to check her for a UTI since being a medical professional I know the signs. They said she didn't have one but in the end she did at which point they told me I didn't follow protocol (?). Next, her roommate got a severe upper respiratory infection and ended up in a hospital. I contacted her PA and was scolded by the staff again for not following protocol. Subsequent to this event, the staff failed to inform me or my family about the severity of her roommate' illness and failed to "follow protocol" by gowning up or instituting precautions, exposing us and visitors. Needless to say, my mother got the infection and subsequently passed away. Please review other places before settling here.
David Shapiro: My aunt lives there. She loves it.
afia opoku: Best learning Center in Worcester
lizzie Lamb: Took care of my grandma wonderful very involved staff

Jewish Home Hospice: what do users think?
J D: Having to consider hospice is not something any of us want to think about. But when a person decides that they would like the last stage of their life to be as comfortable as possible, choosing Jewish hospice to help you and your family on your journey is a really good idea. My mom had a few different nurses, they were all great. Her regular nurse was Marlene B., so kind and compassionate. She also came with a good sense of humor, which my mom really liked. My mom had Kate A. as her social worker. Kate did SO much more than she was ever required to. She came in and was very kind and compassionate as well. But it was all of the work and time she gave to help me after my mom's passing that stands out the most. She supported me with bereavement for many months, and did not leave until she felt I was going to be alright. She went SO far above what she needed to. If you need hospice, my heart goes out to you. But I promise, this is an excellent place. My mother left this world feeling comfortable and at peace. And I am feeling a little more comfortable without her, because of the help, the time and the love these people showed me.
Michelle Casareale: JHC Hospice has the most caring and compassionate staff. They go above and beyond!

VNA Care: what do users think?
Pearl: Just recovering from knee replacement surgery. Barbara came out for the first initial PT / paperwork session. Barbara was polite , professional and a good listener. The remaining visits the PT person was Sharon. Sharon skills, thoroughness , care and attention to detail are impressive and appreciated. B & K ( Sturbridge)
Susan LeRoy: I lost my husband 3 weeks ago. The experience I had with the VNA hospice and Palliative care w as extremely professional with a lot of compassion. Nurse mandy a no nonsense kind of gal , loved her right away. she ordered meds, supplies right away. bed arrived on time. when transferring my husband to hospice bed mandy talk with respect and care to him. The home health aide sharon was a blessing. sharon and mandy showed me how to do things to make my husband more comfortable. Thank you very much to Ron"s whole VNA team. Nurses, HHA, Volunteer. I would recommend VNA to family and friends.
Simply ME: This is the worst Company I do not understand how it's still standing the Therapist that my Father has had "2" so unprofessional they would come at Random hours after they state a certain hour like any other appointment they would be so late and expect it's ok. I spoke with their Managers several times and he was no help. The Therapist are stealing hours they say they came to the patients and put notes in but never arrived. This company is a Fraud and needs further investigation done.
Michel Frehley: My vns nurse was named Lisa she was always kind and understanding she had to change my uniboot twice and always did it with care. I was very pleased with her care.
Vance: Absolutely worst service I've ever dealt with, my dad has parkinson's and they were supposed to help after he had fallen and went to the hospital, they would come at random sometimes without notice, then had the home aid cancel several times upon her own decisions making false accusations that "we told her not to come" " if she gave my dad a bath his feet would get dirty again", she didn't like my dog" (who is extremely friendly), and several no call no shows but apparently told her boss she had been coming, then the nurse started telling me she was coming and asked If I could take work off to be there to meet her, I did several times at the times she provided, she completely never came, no call to let me know and I missed several days of work, I told their supervisors and social workers about this and they did absolutely nothing about it, I'm making sure I call the insurance company tomorrow to let them know not to pay for the services that were absolutely not provided, very unprofessional children work here and I highly recommend people to stray far from them and to never have to deal with this, by far 2 out of a 100 if I could rate it that way
Robert Kellie forever: My mother has demntia and is in a wheelchair and her left leg is covered with sores her Dr. Ordered DAILY dressing changes and the worc. V.n.a doesnt like to come every day and they changed her orders to every other day and now her leg is infected and dressing is tottaly drenged and I have to call them almost EVERY day for them to come and change her dressing , I have nothing good to say about the Worcester V.N.A and the only one suffering is my poor mother that they seem to NOT care about at all 😠 after reading some of the comments witch 99% are bad I really should of reserched this place before hand ughhh
Vivina Morrison: They have this NASTY little habit of NEVER showing up!! Because of this I will in all likelihood I will have to be re-admitted to the hospital because I was promised Physical Therapy & am losing the ability to walk!! If your Health Care Provider recommends them to you? Run! Run! Run! I say all this to you as a Nurse myself & I have extensive experience with Home Care! Poor “Service”!!
Allyson Hay: I was appalled at the lack of care, guidance, and compassion shown in their care giving. I would never recommend this company. Hospice is about making the end of your loved one’s life easier for the family. The staff provided little to no service.
Daniel Abel: Poor quality medical knowledge and lack of basic respect for patients and their families. They made the whole process harder on all of us, while also making us feel like we were not a top priority or really cared for in the first place. It's a shame we went with this place.
Ashley Johnson: This service is extremely unprofessional and doesn’t provide adequate care for its patients. They cause more stress to their patients and families than they do nursing care. Look elsewhere for hospice needs!
Kenneth Sullivan: Horrible horrible horrible. please do not contact these people or they will ruin your life. Nursing staff are completely incompetent and unreliable. None have the slightest clue what is going on when they are on the job (if they even show up). They have no respect for other peoples homes and family members and don’t understand that they are there to help people. They insist on becoming more of a burden to your family. look elsewhere for care because this is only a place to call for when you would like more problems in your life. please fix your establishment. it is embarrassing that you would call yourself a Hospice care facility with the treatment you provide.
Natalie Bishop: Wish I could give negative stars. I’m begging you if you want to spend time with your dying loved one DO NOT use this company. I wish we would have been lucky enough to know what terrible care this company gives so that I could have spent more time with my loved one before they passed.
Sara Ortiz: Stuart has been an absolute blessing since my mother was released from the hospital. He is very thorough, honest and provides the family with the necessary education to assist in the care my mother needs. He has answered all of our questions, is reliable in scheduling and has a very warming personality. We are grateful for his service!!
Viviane Ludtke: We had a wonderful experience with VNA Hospice Care. I would like to thank in special Miriam and Linda for the compassionate, professional care.
ps hunt: My 78 year old sister broke 8 ribs and punctured a lung while in MA for a graduation. She spent 8 days in the ICU and step-down unit at Beth Israel. They arranged for her transfer to Neville Center in Cambridge where she received excellent therapy for ten days. The doctor at Neville and the P.A. from Beth Israel both ordered local VNA care upon discharge, which was Friday 6/21. The social worker at Neville told my sister it was up to my sister herself to arrange VNA care for herself (what?!) and that the orders had been faxed to VNA Worcester. All calls to VNA require 10 to 20 minutes on hold to speak to a person, frequent transfers and disconnects, and promises of call backs that never occur. Maxwell from Neville Center took it upon himself to help, even though it’s not his job, and even he faced the frustration of long waits and no return calls. We were told someone would be here today and no one came. The “administrator” said to call her at five today if no one came, and we did, but after another twenty minute wait spoke to Grace, not the administrator. Grace told us my sister could not get care since she lives in SC normally. However, as the MD and PA said, she can’t go back to SC until she had PT and OT here. She has excellent insurance that will cover all care. VNA has been rude, incompetent, deceptive and unempathetic.
Hingerstine Lumbra: THIS IS NOT EVEN WORTH 1 STAR ACTUALLY NEGATIVE 10 STARS!! WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! I JUST HAD A NURSE JUST LEAVE AFTER ROLLING HER EYES AT ME AND SHAKING HER HEAD! SHE IS UNEDUCATED AND RUDE, I HAVE BEEN ALONE AFTER SURGERY AND NO ONE HAS HELPED ME AT ALL! AND WHEN I SAID ANYTHING SHE WOULD SHUT ME DOWN EVEN WHEN SHE WAS WRONG! NO ONE HAS EVEN BOTHERED TO FIND OUT WHY AFTER 9 DAYS AFTER SURGERY I STILL HAVE NOTHING FOR THE PAIN! I WOULD LIKE TO RIP OUT THEIR UTERIUS AND TUBES AND CERVIX AND GIVE THEM AN ATTITUDE AND TELL THEM THAT I AM ONLY HERE TO TAKE YOUR VITALS!!!DO NOT GO THRU THIS AGENCY THEY ARE A JOKE!!
Laura Alzapiedi: Recommended by Social worker at hospital. It sounded too good to be true. They deliver all of the supplies, send nurses everyday to check on hospice patient, bring in the prescriptions, etc. Help us and the dying patient get through this difficult time. This was NOT the experience we had. The delivery of bed, matterss etc. was late and the person delivering did not know how to put the bed together or hook up the oxygen. He had to call someone and I had to help him. I already had enough stress getting 24 hour care set up and did not need this added on top. The nurse came an hour late due to a car accident. This is understandable but not coming with any supplies is NOT. I had to go out and purchase supplies needed everything from diapers to Toothettes, I had no idea what these even were! Then when I returned she tells me the VNA will pay if I go back to the two pharmacies and tell them to give me my money back and charge them instead!!! Not happening this already took over an hour. Furthermore she says they only visit a couple of times a week....not the care I was expecting at all. I have heard so much about how compassionate and caring Hospice is but I can tell you that was not my experience. The Care givers I hired from another agency were the true Angels. I know I would not consider this hospice agency again. They even had the nerve to leave an envelope with the funeral home to give to us. Believe it or not it was a letter asking for a donation....unbelievable. I thought it would be a sympathy card but nope...just wanted money...I am sure there a some great agencies out there but from my experience this is not one of them.
Amy Colwell: I have loved my experience with Debi and Lora in the care of my son. They are caring and knowledgeable. I'm grateful to have their help!
Terry G: Confusion, poor communication and lack of attention to what they are contracted to provide patients. Some services are contracted out and are not direct employ of VNA so they have no idea if the service is happening or not. What a disservice to the patients that depend on these services for necessary care.
Bibi Paredes: In the beginning they were great. Now they are not so great. Nurses don't communicate with each other. Supplies not being ordered. When a different nurse comes is like they are clueless. They don't know how to take blood or put in foley cather. They tell you I will take a pic and send it to the wound nurse will see what she thinks . Six weeks later still waiting to hear from the wound nurse. So disappointing. Looking for new services for my mom. Never heard from the wound nurse and my mom got a bacteria on her tailbone. Thanks VNA for not caring.
Dante Ferraro: when i met my therapist, michael hoadley p.t. he works very good with kids.i made great progress in his carei recomend this therapist and i will miss the weekly sessions!
