Aaron Braun: Sensational! I can only describe my experience with Custom Insulation as Sensational! The account team came out and talked about the job with me, reviewed options and we made a plan. They were super competitive on price too. We agreed on open Cell foam and a date about 1 ½ weeks out. Very easy, no pressure, and all the details and information I could have needed. They even called to see and we re-planned to do the job earlier than the original date. On instillation day the team was there at 725am for a planned 730am. They set up the area and got to work quietly and were done way ahead of schedule. I asked for them to leave the plastic up as I was going to be painting the area that was worked in and their masking was top notch! Protected all the areas of the garage. The entire job was less money, easier, faster, and even better than I had originally planned. I have local friends who have come to see the work and are already planning on using them for basements and additions. No need to shop around this team gets it done! Ethan Bancala: Just got off the phone with Ted who manages the foam insulation business for a quote on an attic insulation project. I was hoping to insulate from my soffit up to the ridge vent and bring the HVAC equipment inside the thermal envelop while building out the attic. Ted was suggesting open-cell foam at R-38 when I was considering closed-cell foam at R-49. When I tried to discuss the pros and cons and understand the recommendation better, Ted told me that he's been doing this for years, and he doesn't have the time to explain this to me due to his busy schedule. He suggested I go find someone else! As far as I'm concerned, if a contractor can't take 5 minutes to explain to my how I'm spending $15k+, then I don't want them messing with my house.All of this was after trying to contact for a quote via email, phone, and their online form ... all of which elicited no response previously.

He called me back right away, came down for an estimate within an hour, gave me the estimate shortly after that and had a team at my house the next morning with an exact window of when they'd be there (the team was equally awesome - super friendly and informative). That combination of responsiveness, professionalism and accountability is so hard to come by these days. 10/10 would recommend.

They were scheduled to do the work while i was on vacation so I could be there while they were inuslating a crawl space and last minute their sales guy said "no i had you down for next week"! So i took off more time from work the following week. They showed up on the rescheduled day, started the work then told me they couldn't do the work for wht they agreed on! Salesman John called me and said his price was only for a portion of what i had showed him originally. Total BS. They were at my house dressed and ready to go and they didn't even try to negotiate with me ??? Never agin!

Mike: Last year I had Mass Save come out and do an energy audit for my home. They recommended blown in insulation for the attic as well as weather stripping for all exterior doors. Of the companies available to do the work I chose Custom Insulation. I could not have been happier! The initial manager who came out was professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. The three man crew who did the actual work labored tirelessly for three days (this is not easy work). All of the doors were professionally done, the attic was completely air sealed , with new baffles installed and 8"of new insulation blown in. In addition, my basement was air sealed as well as my garage. The crew was neat friendly and professional. They cleaned up at the end of every day, and after everything was done it was like they were never there. One of the crew even helped my wife shovel the driveway !! This summer my home was noticeably cooler and drier and so far this winter the house temp in 1-1.5 degrees warmer. If you're going to have any type of insulation work done there is no other company I would recommend.

Kenneth Holroyd: They installed mini splits in our house. First they pushed and pushed to start the work before the loan came through, which it didn’t and then we had to pay out of pocket. We were told we had to be home so someone could come by and explain how the system works. That never happened. Now we’re having our siding replaced due to visible rot and it turns out the crew attached the water lines with electrical tape. Water was pouring down in between the siding and the house itself, causing damage.

J Graves: This wasn’t a great experience.They broke my vinyl siding and left dirty hand prints all over the side of my house even though I didn’t even want insulation done in the walls. They just rushed ahead without checking. Then they used a literal handful of white sl to sloppily replace the broken piece.They moved my lawnmower and garden supplies into the yard and left it all outside in the rain — never even returned it when they left. I can’t easily see that portion of my yard so didn’t notice until we’ll after they left.Used too long screws so that they protruded through the ceiling. This was very obvious but they left it like that anyway, only fixing it once I called and asked.Installed a bathroom/roof vent incorrectly into my brand new roof causing my ceiling to leak (they did correct this eventually).I chose them based on good reviews but I was surprised by how shoddy and careless they were which made me concerned about the quality of work done.Update: Roof has now leaked a second time and they came to fix a second time. Left me having to fix the sloppy joint compound work they did on the ceiling, prime, paint, and reinstall the light fixture all over again. Ceiling all cracked up now. Problem after problem. I don’t trust the work they do at this point.

Alex Ingram: Energy Monster "completed" work of my mini-split heat pump system on May 19th. The same day they completed work, the unit (the most expensive unit too) responsible for cooling the dining room and kitchen died. We are still waiting on a replacement unit. We were told time and time again that it would be repaired within a week or so. Mike Heil was the project manager and had zero time for my questions and was rude and abrupt on every phone call.Courtney, the director of operations, took over as my contact once Mike was, and I quote, "no longer with us". She has been much more kind but the unit is still dead and we do not know when it will be replaced.My wife is 8 months pregnant. It's about to be a week straight of 90+ temps. Bobruski Bobruno: I, too, was hooked up with Energy All Stars through Mass Save. BEWARE letting these people in your house! This is what happened with my appointment:While they were in my house, the Energy All Stars reps threw the moving in boxes that I had stacked outside of the rooms that they would be going into, into the spare bedroom. Instead of asking me, or simply moving the boxes a few inches down the hall, as I, and any normal person would do, they threw the boxes all over my aerobed, which crushed it. It is now trash. (The EA rep, Guy said "maybe they were just trying to help you out" Um, no, I don't think so). They, of course, did not put them back where they found them.One of them asked me if he could have an antique model rifle that was in the attic (I refused).Some things went missing: a signed bruins hockey puck and a small bag of catnip, that I'm pretty sure they thought was pot. For all I know, there is more gone that I just haven't noticed. Those were the 2 things that stood out, because, everyday I would put the bag of catnip into a ball. The cats would play with it until it opened; then I would fix it again. Every day that catnip was there. After EA was in my house? Nowhere to be found. You would figure that 2 males in their 20's would know the difference between catnip & pot; but, nope. The Signed Bruins hockey puck was on a shelf in a bookcase in the same room. Now, poof! It is gone.When I told this to Guy, of Energy All-Stars, he didn't care. I got the impression he did not believe me. He did not offer to make good on the air mattress that was ruined by his workers; nor did he say he would confront his people about the missing items from my house.They also overcharged me by a significant amount. When I called to complain about the stolen and ruined items, they told me I would get a refund check for the overcharge. At least I got that; but, as far as I am concerned, they still owe me for the things they stole and trashed.BEWARE! Don't take your eyes off them if you let them in your house! Mass Save, why are you doing business with people like this?

He just wanted to say for so many sq/ft it would be blah. I wanted to know how much material would be use, and how much time to install, so I could run the numbers and make sure the price was fair, but he wasn't interested in that, and told me he couldn't help me.

They did about $2,000 worth of work, including vents & insulation in the entire attic. My cost was less than $450. Outstanding! Dennis Asselin: Modern Energy recently did a Mitsubishi heat pump/cooling system install in our house. I am very impressed with the professionalism this company has. First met Ryan who looked over house for project and provided quote quickly, showed up on time and asked about our needs. The installation crew Dave Wiita and Brandon who explained what they were going to do and how and answered all my questions as project moved forward. I was also impressed seeing these techs using torque wrenches to tighten fittings to spec up on a 24 foot ladder. Being a retired vocational teacher I can appreciate this attention to detail. The electricians Bob and Jeremy gave us options on how to run the required wiring, the conduit was laid out straight, boxes level and plumb all wiring properly secured and neat. How to use the system was explained by Dave and I was told if I had any further questions just call. I highly recommend Modern Energy if you are thinking about installing mini split system in your home.
