She overcharged for the picture frame and she did not use the one I paid for. Awful job. When I asked To add my dads name to the stone she charge me 3 times more then other monumental company. I strongly do not recommend Rex Monument in Worcester 👎

ALLEN GRENIER: It is next to impossible to get in touch with anyone at Rex Monument. After several tries, I finally got someone to sit down to discuss picking out a stone. After spending an hour selecting details for the stone I was assured I would hear from them the next day. After a week, I called numerous times and got no one to answer the phone so I left a message. After many more calls, someone finally answered the phone and I was told, they had not had time to work on the order yet . I told them to forget it, I would go somewhere else. I did go somewhere else and received excellent service .By writing this I hope I’m saving someone a lot of the time and aggravation !

Eunice I: I am dissatisfied with the lack of communication and transparency regarding the installation of my mother’s headstone. My mother passed almost six months ago, and my family and I went to Empire the very next day after she passed to purchase monument. We were told they only install headstones twice a year—Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. Memorial Day weekend also corresponds with my birthday so I was very much looking forward to spending my birthday at the gravesite with my mom’s new headstone. Well, two weeks have passed and when I texted Louis about when headstone will be placed, I got no response. My dad has also visited to see what the hold up is and we aren’t getting very clear answers and being told the wrong color was ordered. What?? With the amount of money they are getting, I don’t believe there should be room for these sorts of errors. I am not pleased with them for not delivering when they said they would. Tsk tsk. I would be doubtful to recommend.

Meghan Harris: I just used Empire Granite for a headstone for my husband. The gentleman was polite and considerate. My children and I ordered the headstone and was advised that it would be about 6 weeks for its arrival. Sure enough, 6 weeks and the stone was placed. It is more beautiful than expected. I also had Empire do some lettering at my brother/grandparents headstone in Worcester and they did a beautiful job and their prices were MUCH cheaper than another local granite company! I would recommend Empire Granite to everyone!

Leanne Etre Mcpherson: Beautiful, absolutely stunning statues and headstones on display outside. The fire fighter carving in the side yard is the most beautiful, as well as intricate stone carving I've ever seen. If you want a magnificent stone to honor your loved one, Worcester County Memorials is an amazing choice. I've posted photos of their winter hours as well as the usual hours. The location is great, as it's easily seen from the road; being located on the corners of George St and rte. 20 in Shrewsbury. Ample parking in front of the building as well.

I had heard, they were under new ownership and being a past customer I had hoped for the same service I received prior.Only to discover the service I was given recently was beyond amazing. Roy Wetherbee: Updated Review:Upgrading my assessment to 3 stars based on several factors (but mainly because they did *eventually* get the job done).Following the passing of my mother in 2012, my father worked with Worcester County Memorials on a monument for her grave (one that would one day include him as well). He was VERY particular about the details, and WCM worked patiently for nearly a year to get it right - no, to get it perfect. Based on that experience alone, he would have gladly given them 5 stars.Fast forward a few years, upon my father's passing, and it was a completely different story for me. Time to add a picture and some engraving: 9-10 months. Granted, it was over a winter (when it's too cold for engraving), and the company that had done my mother's ceramic photo had reportedly gone out of business, but I can't help but blame their lack of organization. On one occasion, when I stopped by in person to get a progress update, I waited nearly 1/2 hour for them to find the file (which, after rifling through multiple piles of paperwork all over the office, was not found). The file was lost (must have eventually been found, but not that day). Subsequent requests for progress updates were always met with "I don't know." They were waiting for their subcontractor (engraver) to "get to it" but could never get an answer as to when. Poor vendor management, and poor communications all around.Paid in full for everything well in advance, and once they have your money you have little to no leverage left, so it's difficult to "take your business elsewhere." If you have a year to spare, WCM is the place, but if your need is critical I would not recommend.Between the two completely different experiences above, I feel I am being generous by averaging them out to 3 stars.Original Review (June 2018)Slow and unresponsive - nothing but excuses - cannot recommend.I wish I could write a positive review, but I just can't. Paid in full for engraving to be added to an existing gravestone in a very nearby cemetery, and have heard nothing but excuses for months and months and months as to why it's still not done. As a company, very slow, unresponsive, disorganized and frustrating to work with. I fear legal action may be required.

John Chapin: It took 4 times longer than promised to get the gravestone placed. I had to constantly call and e-mail to get a response and when I did finally get a response, there was always an excuse. I realize there are occasionally issues, the main problem was the lack of communication and run-around.

Michaela Cote: This will be a long post but worth the readThese people are not understanding or patient. They avoid you unless they absolutely HAVE to get in touch with you about your purchase, With that being said my experience with whitnsville monumental works was bitter/sweet. At first my mother was told by someone there that because my 5 month old daughter had passed away and I was a young mother they felt bad and were willing to help me with the price of a stone for her. Well that didn't happen, but Needless to say I wasn't expecting help on the price no matter where I went for a stone because my life has never been made easy and it was going to be a custom made stone, so it wasn't a huge deal. Moving forward... they did well with trying to capture the idea I wanted and were willing to redo the sketch of the stone for me, But while redrawing came off with sort of this "frustrated" vibe which I didn't care for because it made me feel like if there was something I didn't like about the stone I shouldn't continue to pick at it because I didn't want to feel like I WAS being too picky, right there. I should not have felt that way. This stone is going to be sitting there on her headstone FOREVER and that's a long time to look at something that means so much and have something you don't like just eating at you simply because they felt frustrated with me for being picky about something I have every right to be picky about. They did work with us as far as doing a payment plan I sent what I could when I could and was supposed to pay it off within about 7 months- it took to create the stone and have it shipped to us from china. 7months, $5,000+ well needless to say 1 job, having another kid at home, and bills, and an apartment, and my boyfriend being wrongfully terminated and out of work for a few months due to surgery that if he didn't have would have either killed him or parallyzed him from the waste down, that was not easy and I didn't make it in the 7 months. I understand being frustrated with us there but that was out of our hands. So fast forward to the stone is done and I sent in the final payment. I ask them MULTIPLE times "when will the stone be set? I would like to be there when it gets put in." This is something I have been not only looking forward to but was also going to be the final step in saying goodbye and getting some kind of closure for losing my daughter. They finally message me back and tell me that within one week they will be placing it and that they will let me know. so I let my 6 closest people to me know so we can gather and say goodbye one last time and they all say "Okay to just let them know ASAP" the morning after I get the message saying "it will be within one week, I will let you know" THE VERY NEXT MORNING I get a message that says "the stone was placed this morning, I think you will be pleased." MY HEART DROPPED and I cried like I just lost my little girl all over again... I message back asking if "there was no way to let me know ahead of time? i have been asking for a few weeks if I could be there when it got placed." And thanked them. I get no response back and have not heard from them since.. so I start calling everyone I know asking if they can take me an hour away to go see this stone last second, I find someone and we show up.. the stone was like the sketch but I didn't love it, there are big dirty fingerprints on the teddy bears head, and dirt all over the stone. The least they could have done was wipe it down when they were done. Please don't make the mistake of going here. I lost something I will never get back.

We provided a sketch of what we wanted and Dave replicated it exactly on our chosen monument stone. He spent time answering all our questions and explaining the design elements of our desired engraving on the monument. The monument was delivered and installed at the cemetery when promised. It looks beautiful and is exactly what we wanted.

Deb Flaherty: Finalized the wording for my mother's name to be put on our family stone back in February. Called in late April when it wasn't done, was told it would be done for Memorial Day. Called again May 23rd because it still wasn't done. Through a series of missteps the order didn't get transferred to "the book". It was finally done mid-June and the workmanship is great. I would recommend Jamie and deal with him personally when you need engraving done.
