Shrewsbury Health Department: what do users think?
Ashley Smith: You guys are nothing but a bunch of trash who work here. Horrible heartless people who shouldn’t be around
Matthew Loftus: Mostly responding to “Local Guide” Paul H. who clearly has some fundamental misunderstanding about local government.First and foremost, the post is about trash collection - which is managed by the Department of Public Works, not the Health Department. That said, and while we’re on the subject, the town is not responsible for your failure to follow the pretty straightforward rules regarding recycling. Don’t follow the guidelines? Your recycling stays on the curb. If you are following the guidelines and your recycling isn’t picked up, that’s the fault of the company - not the town.If you want to throw it away, just throw it away. The bag purchases, while annoying, are a cost-saving measure in the long run. The people with the most trash will necessarily bear the highest cost in bag purchases - Northboro does the same. Putting aside the fact that the bags are pretty inexpensive, the alternative to the bag-purchase-program would be to raise your local taxes to cover the increased cost of waste management and recycling. Faced with my taxes going up or buying special trash bags for collection, I’d take the bags just about any day.Lastly the next time you want to vent your misdirected anger on the internet, maybe you could do so with a bit less hyperbole. Your argument loses some force when you imply that the trash and recycling collection program is contributing to the degradation of our community. You sound ridiculous.
Paul H.: They do not care about health or sanitation. They only care about money. How many times do I have to have my recycling not collected before I decided to just throw it all in the trash (which is required in their own brand of trash bag)?We all think recycling is beneficial. Why not hold the town or recycling company accountable for the degradation of our community?
