Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital, affiliate of Encompass Health: what do users think?
Russell Vickstrom: From start to finish my experience with Fairlawn. What is a at any time one. The staff was wonderful. The treatment plan was simple yet complete and we got it done in the time suggested it. I feel safe at home and continue to get stronger. I recommend Phil on rehab, that’s Fairlawn rehab without any recommendation without any reservations at reservations at any
Ashleigh Misner: Was here in late September and now here again for separate reasons. The DAY staff is absolutely amazing and willing to work with you and your goals and doctors check in everyday and it helps that you have a schedule for when things will happen. The NIGHT staff has 1-2 good nurses and 1-2 good CNAs. They don’t understand when you have a migraine you need more quiet and darkness, they come in randomly at night turning on the nights with no warning, banging doors shut, most the nurses clearly didn’t read your chart or know why you’re there. One nurse knew I got pain meds but was a sliding scale of what number equaled what dose and he didn’t ask me the whole night what scale he just gave me whatever he wanted to which messed up my pain awfully. They were rude, acting like they didn’t want to be there honestly and had better things to do. Feel so bad for 1-4 night staff that are amazing!
Michael Coveney: Beware if you have medicare. They will only keep you for 10 days whether you are better or not. Case manager was not helpful and tried her best to discharge as soon as possible regardless of condition. Went in due to weakness and falling and was sent home too early and fell again two days later. Could have spent a few more weeks here to regain strength and practice walking but it seems 10days was their limit. If you cannot be healthy in 10days they don't want you. This used to be the best rehab in Worcester, not so much anymore. Beware!
Donna Brushway: Everything went well with my mothers stay after a minor stroke. Therapists were awesome nurses were great. Had a little difficulty calling and getting hold of a nurse to talk to. Overall a great experience.
Dave Kopper: I had fallen and really couldn’t get back up. An ambulance took me to the hospital where I learned my multiple myeloma caused me to not have good control of my left leg. Explained why I fell for sure. I had actually fallen twice. Last fall was off my concrete and bricks y my front door. I just didn’t listen to my wife for her help.I fell down the two steps, over our sidewalk and landed in the dirt. An ambulance got me to umass and I was there for just short of 2 weeks. The Fairlawn rehab. Center. The rebab center worked hard with me. I made a lot of great progress and could walk really pretty well with a walker. The human brain amazes me. It was rewriting how I controls my left leg. I don’t have complete control back but it’ll slowly happen. This rehab center was absolutely wonderful In everything. You’d think easy stuff was easy - For example they actually have great food, not like a hospital. Simple but works great. The staff were all friendly and helped me a lot. So it’s a wonderful place that I don’t know hew I’d improve it at all.
Kelly McDonald: Terrible! They are short on CNA's call lights going off for over 10 min and not one person checked. This is why falls happen. They sent my father home without a walker, he fell Immediately after getting into the house. They never went over fall recovery. They also only sent him home with half of his medicaions. 2 verybimpotant ones not with him. Most likely the reason why he was dizzy and fell. Everyone was very nice but I'm sorry nice people don't make for a good rehab. Very subpar rehab.
Ady Menon: Got Covid there and my amputated leg got infected from improper wound care. i would NOT recommend this place to anyone. i personally experienced the pca staff cussing the patient next to me. Totally unacceptable and unprofessional. The day staff were ok, but the night staff were inexperienced, lazy and not properly trained!
sue madden: honestly i was nervous for my stay here because ive never had to stay at a rehab but all the nurses an doctors an rehab people were so nice an helped me every single step of the way i just came home today an i would recommend this place to anyone thank you guys for everything!!!!😀😀😀
Brittany Greer: So far all staff has been amazing taking great care of my father. Communication with family has been going really well. And we have seen improvements every day in my father's recovery.
Heather Vaughn: This place is absolutely horrible. The nurses were nonexistent and never answer the call lights. Many shirts they did not have any nurses on the floor. The refused to shower my husband because he was a fall risk. He was there for a month and never showered. Patients often had to call the hospital and request nurse be paged for assistance. The lack of communication between the physicians and nursing staff was horrible. No one could explain what medically was going on with my husband. The PT and OY staff were good. I felt bad they had to work in such an awful place. Don’t send your loved ones here. You will regret it. Medicine from medieval ages.
Jeff Bailey: My Dad was just thrown in that pit again after having been I'm there in 2016. Reading these reviews, I am truly horrified. The first time did not take, so why should this time be any different? He is older and set in his ways. I just hope, based on what I just read, he comes out alive.
Mabel may: My first experience of American healthcare and I must say am appalled by the treatment given at this place. A good person from the hospital sold this place to us as one of the best rehabilitation centres in the area, but if this place is best then I don't want to take a step close to the others. But then again the reviews here say a lot and we should have checked before accepting it.I feel awful writing this review because some members of staff are actually very nice and I can't fault the therapy staff neither but the bad ones mess is up for the whole organisation. A lot need to change or maybe it could be a day case service so people could access therapy from home.First is the reception staff... One of them is very kind but the others are so rude which makes it uncomfortable visiting your own relation.Communication between the team is poor because decisions don't get communicated down to all staff so we faced same problems over and over again. The night staff makes people feel like a burden....taking over 45mins to an hour to answer patients call for assistance which is disgraceful considering the kind of patients being treated at this place. And when you complain they rush your relative out of there regardless of home circumstance.
Mark's Kitchen Delight's: I am here for rigorous PT and OT due to a surgery. Because of the nursing staff, which in itself is the most incompetent nursing staff that I have ever had Care for me. They are lazy, not knowledgeable about why I’m here and they make themselves scarce when asked to do something like washing me up or using the bed pan. I’ve asked my nurse at 9am to get me washed and get up because I had therapy at 11am, I’m still waiting for her and it’s now 11:06 which means I missed my therapy session. This is an ongoing thing. There is only one nurse named Charlotte that has been phenomenal in the two days I’ve had her. All the rest I think got their nursing degree out of a Cracker Jack box. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT COME HERE OR SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE. I would have been better off having OT and PT at home.
Emily Law: My daughters stay their is horrible.1- they do not answer the call lights in a timely fashion. My daughter has to have an assist, to transfer her !! I had to call the front desk for someone to help her, she was trying to go on her own which could have been very serious because she needs an assist.Which makes matters even worse they put a Covid patient in her room…And have patients wandering in other patients rooms. If I could have given zero stars I would have.
John Gazard: I had a great experience at Fairlawn. The OT and PT therapist were amazing. I was there for 8 days of therapy and it madeIt safe enough for me to come home. The majority of the staffing was always super nice.
Robin H.: I really enjoyed the PT, OT and Speech Therapist . The 2 doctors on call, Dr. Brown, so gentle and kind and Dr. Pajamas are a great team to. Have. Get Mona for your case mngr!
Sss Ssss: Only let 1 visitor a day when my dads in there basically dying I can’t go see him 1 person per day is absolute horrendous and no empathy what family is going through!!!!
Lisa Ackley: Took Great care of my daughter 💞
Darlene Guinette: I GOTTA SAY AS I SIT IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER MY LOVED ONE (MOMMA) SPENT 9 DAYS IN THIS DUMP, WAS SENT BACK TO ER WITH ISSUES OF HER TREATMENT/REHAB, DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE ENTERING.
Jarod LaVarnway: Are you interested in joining Fairlawn Rehab? PROCEED WITH CAUTION! I recently applied for a position and received a call back scheduling a time for an interview. Standard operating procedure for sure. The day of the interview arrives and I get a call cancelling the interview TWO hours beforehand. The lady from HR stated I needed a clinical license like a DPT or RN license. I replied, I do have a license with the state of MA as a PTA and my Masters in Health Law and Policy. She stated, no we're looking for someone licensed. So not only was I marginalized for being a PTA with a masters essentially in Healthcare Compliance (the position I applied for) instead of a DPT or RN, but they cancelled my interview TWO hours before I was suppose to talk to them. I've seen a lot of sloppy, sloppy HR moves applying for jobs, but this takes the cake! Hey hiring manager! READ A RESUME BEFORE YOU SCHEDULE AN INTERVIEW. Also, good luck to you and the RedSox, if you think a DPT or RN will accept the salary range of the position discussed prior to scheduling the interview. For everyone else, good luck getting in contact with anyone at the hospital. I called twice to get the HR director's contact information, got a prompt to wait for the operator, whom never picked up the phone.I've worked for multiple hospitals in the Boston area and Greater Boston area, and am shocked that this rehab hospital has Joint Commission Accreditation. Their clinicians must be miles better than their administration that's for certain. One Star review purely for horrific professionalism.
Quyen Le: Nice, clean atmosphere, good peopleMy mom (87) was transferred here on Friday 9/11/20 after 3 days at UMASS hospital due to a bad fall. Our family were concerned and worried about the care she would receive here. We were wrong! On behalf of our mom and her children, we want to "THANK YOU " to all the staff who were dedicated, enthusiastic, courteous, and professional during her 7 days stay. The therapy staff did an exceptional job! Thanks to Shannon, Laurie, and Meagan for support and understanding. The facility is clean and the food is good. The receptionists will welcome you with a friendly smile.

UMass Memorial Health Care: what do users think?
Luke Obrien: Thank u for taking care of my daughter with her terrible nose piercing infection
Ara Surabian: I think this is the section for employees only. Every so often they have to meet and chat behind closed doors, so the patients that need care can get lost and see a specialist for there automobile.
D. R.: Terrible doctors, terrible facility, everyone who works here should be fired. Waste of my tax dollars.
BD V: Will not allow workers to have an opinion.
A Jones: Apparently does not believe in free speech and that right for their employees to have it especially when off duty on their own time.
C Montesinos: Great doctors!!
Jianhuang Han: Ophthalmology Xu Junshi: The service is thoughtful and meticulous!眼科徐博士:服务周到,工作细致。
Matt Herbert: This place is awesome. Great staff and doctors in a nice quiet facility.
Tei Mac: Buried in the middle of a very residential community, parking lot is at a ridiculous angle, very dangerous in winter or wet weather. Poorly thought out placement.

UMass Memorial Medical Center - Children's Medical Center: what do users think?
Edward Jose Herrera: Worst ER in Massachusetts !! Rude Nurses, Resident MD and ignoring you like you don't exist at all. Extremely overcrowded ER !! No safety at all.
Mike Morcone: Hospital itself is good, but the er specifically is terrible. I understand it must be a nightmare to manage things on the fly like that. I was in the pediatric section and honestly there’s only maybe 8 kids total. It was two hours before they even called in the first kid. With adults it’s one thing, but when you’re with a young child and expected to sit for 5-8 hours just to be seen…. Honestly it’s completely unacceptable. You get there and they tell you it will not be a “bad wait”. Then pretty much nothing happens. Honestly if you’re borderline at night it’s not even worth coming here. Just let everyone get sleep and do a walk in the following morning. If your child needs help fast that will basically never happen here.
Arthur Barreto: Came here with my girlfriend for her severe chest pain mainly in her breast, all they could say was to give her Advil and there’s nothing we can do. Wasted about 5 hours, a hospital full of women yet they can’t help another women.
Sophie Uknavage: I dont know how I'm supposed to feel about this hospital, particularly the Cancer building.. my mom was diagnosed with cancer the 3rd time by a UMass Dr, that same doctor delivered the news to her that they would b stopping all cancer treatments and that her cancer was no longer curable and it was now terminal.. fine, ok, but don't u dare deliver that news to her when she is alone in a hospital room, u wait till family arrives!
Quan Lee: Filthy. Bad service. If you treasure your life, DO NOT GO HERE!!!!Would give zero stars but no option.
Grayson Coleman: Former employee....travelers beware; they push this whole good place to give and receive care but it couldn't be further from the truth for both. 5E was a junky cluttered and dirty unit that was inadequately ran.
Donna Brushway: Overall a good experience. My mother had a minor stroke we were in the ER about 18 hours then downstairs at the CDU for a couple days and on floor seven for a few days. Everyone we dealt with was pleasant.
Mariam Kutuusa: I want to say a big THANK you to all the staff on THE 7th floor especially, after a month on that floor I can say I got another family there.Nurses Andrea,Nicola,Natalie,Nick,Tony and many others were wonderful (I ALWAYS got my medication on time and they thought of a solution to my pain to make me feel better during my worst times and THE CNAs I had were angels especially Elizabeth,Akua and those I have forgotten the names for always being willing to help BUT most of all for the humor and taking time to talk to you.The specialist doctors THAT had to figure out what was wrong with my organs, the Surgeons THANK YOU.I AM STILL ALIVE coz of everyone's care at UMass again I thank EVERYONE ON THE 7th floor who helped me
Bad Company: Emergency department pediatric waiting room is filled with sick adults sleeping across benches with blankets! One of the nurses swabbed two of them after saying “You didn’t get swabbed yesterday” while me and my 12 yr old daughter who was is extreme pain had to stand by the door after realizing one of them was literally master bating and all the ER nurses told us they didn’t know what the people were doing there! I wish I read the reviews before coming. I’m still in the room waiting and it’s 4:30 am. I’m going to add pictures on my way out.*Update*After all of my complaints they moved a majority of them from pediatric before I could take pictures. I also heard one of the nurses say to the other we will have to call the police there are no security around. Two police trucks were parked out front but no security to be seen! I’ve never been treated so poorly at a hospital in my life never mind in pediatric. Everyone in the emergency room should be ashamed of themselves. One of the most ignorant male doctors I’ve ever seen. I had to ask my daughter if she felt comfortable or if she thought we should leave and she thought we should leave we ended up having to walk out. She's in pain and didn't trust the doctor and his response was ok leave 😡😡😡
Astry Cruz: The worst hospital I ever been.. people so mean . They don’t even let you use a bathroom it’s totally unprofessional
『 Froggy Kitti 』: Dr is good, but some of he nurses made me really sad and uncomfortable.
Andrew Wells: My dad was given the time for his procedure less than 24 hour before the start time. In no other field would this be allowed.
trisha harden: Worse er ever worse doctor's took my 6 year for her asthma waited 9 hours place is dirty bathroom is so dirty and we all was also complaining they had a baby with no mask with rsv around every other kid and made that baby wait 9 hours so we finally get called and the room was cold dirty no blankets and she says well she seems good how you know that she was sleep check her lungs once gave her breathing treating said u can go remind you she has oxygen was 90 all day my doctor told me go there .. The doctor's very rude got no answers I really wish can call someone on them worst hospital er I wouldn't bring my cat there all kids running that place ..
Jasmine Torres: The wait time is unreal. They can’t even provide estimates. The pedi ER is too small. I avoided an ambulance to come in with a trauma, obvious unilateral bone anatomy disfigurement and sent from ready med for X-rays. Worst lack of experience possible. The ER area is filthy. Where is EBS? Diarrhea and vomiting in the bathrooms. Going somewhere else. Boston, checking wait times before going. If you urgently sick idk what to tell you. If you can wait. Call the PCP Monday and schedule a specialist.
Alex Kapulka: Nurses were nice but wait time for adults24 to 30 hours not a very good er service someone could be dead in that time frame
Lucinda Swartz: Two weeks ago we came in with our 13 month old baby. We were send there from Urgent care cause our baby had RSV and urgent care called ahead and send all the baby work so we didn’t have to wait in line. I went up to the window and explained to the lady with purple and pink hair and told her our that is hard for our baby to breath and she told me to go stand in the back of the line so they can register us and make sure we have insurance there was about 8 people infront of us we left and went to St Vince’s I don’t even want to imagine what could’ve happened if we stayed and waited people like that shouldn’t work in health care!!!!
Paul Bissonnette: Great staff all aroundThank youPaul
Sheila Martin: We started taking our son there over 10 years ago to Pediatric Nephrology department and the staff there couldn't be kinder or more professional. We usually have to visit radiology before the doctor visit and even on their busy days they are always friendly and very patient with my son's millions of questions and inability to stay still during his ultrasound.
Salinas T: Let’s see came into emergency room for chest pains, the security bypass me and let 2 people ahead of me with out asking why I was there!! Than I waited hours and hours. The ER was full of trash, the only one nice was the triage nurse other than that everyone no empathy what’s so ever. Not to mention dirty trash all around, packed with people Coughing all around. The worse hospital ever not even in NY!! They told me the longest wait as of now is 17 hours in ER!!! Like how is this the biggest hospital in Massachusetts with worse service ???
Courtney J: Abby in the UMASS billing department is the most passive aggressive person I have ever dealt with. She constantly spoke over me and was extremely condescending. The hospital was absolutely wonderful when it came to dealing with the nurses and doctors, but the billing department needs much improvement.
Lucy Chen: Get the best care here, forever grateful to the medical staff.
