Ski Ward Ski Area: what do users think?
Rachel Harrison: Great local ski spot. Prices are pretty good; especially when skiing for a couple of hours
Electronic Battlefield: Lovely hidden jem! Been going here since I was a kid and now taking my daughter who loves to ski there.
Carina DeMoura: Friendly and helpful staff. Kept lines moving quickly. Tons of fun
Thomas Conroy (TC3): Fun for tubing and learning how to ski
Kris Morandi: Great people
Shams Kerry: This review and rating are for their snow tubing business. I bought tickets online. However, we could start our session only half an hour late because their kiosk printer had run out of paper. There were no staff to help and we had to wait in the regular ticket line. We paid for two hours and was only able to use for 90 minutes. When we brought this up with the person managing the snow tubing slope, he was rude. The place could be better managed.
Logan Callahan: Hi how r u
T. Szway: Waste of time & money for tubing. The wait was 30 min with 18 people in front of us for each run. They sold to many tickets for the limited lanes they had available. We were able to do more than double the runs at a different place the day before and the day after so their excuse that it was a holiday weekend does not hold up.
Poorani Arumugam: We booked private lesson and the instructor was so bad. My kids team never made progress. It all depends upon the instructor you get. If u r really lucky u may get the good one. This place sucks and such a waste of money. All they care about is Money. In 90 mins session she skied only 3 times. The worst place ever we have been. We booked for a week. They had my daughter’s name for 2 days and from third day they missed her name n never had her in any group. When we asked about it they jst said it’s miss communication n put her back with day1 kids. When we asked her progress , the instructor was so rude. She said “ IF YOU WANT UR KID TO PROGRESS BETTER U COME UP THE HILL AND TEACH”It’s such an disrespectful and disappointing place to be.The moment we put her in different place she was doing great.
Thomas Bush: Had a Blast
Jon Weaver: We had an awful experience with an instructor at ski ward during a private lesson. The manager promised to call us to make things right. It’s been several weeks and he never called. We followed up with an email and they never responded. Wasting the money on the private lesson sucks, but we’re shocked they just ghosted us after how bad it was. We’ll never go back and wanted to warn others. Good luck.
Michael A: My son and I had a blast tubing at Ski Ward! The staff was very helpful, and the waiting times were a piece of cake, even for a weekend. Will be coming back for more family fun!
cristiano jota: Maravilhosa experiência
Prasad Sapre: Snow tubing was super fun. My 6 yr old daughter had a blast. Warm and welcoming staff. The self check-in kiosk was out of order but the lady at the counter was gracious to help. Restrooms cleaning could be better though.
Dr. Beer: Was pretty good place to go
oscar augusto: ski wards make they own snow, they are for if that's no snow on the ground they can cancel lesson, this season they canceled 2 days, i'm not able to make up the lessons the day they chose, I called and spoke to the manager Connor, he said " you signed a form that states if you can't make up the lessons the day we chose you will lose your money. i'm not impressed.
Bob Wakelin: Took my twin 7 year old boys to Ward Hill tonight. Got them on skis for the second time. Schlepped up the bunny hill a couple of times then hit the carpet. Both did two runs, I was holding them in snow plow (pizza) position and they made it. “It all begins here” was the sign of the day. Dad has them set up with lessons next week. I hope to train my future ski buddies! What a great place Ward is. High School ski teams to toddlers learning. Dads having a beer while watching kids ski. Snow tubing as well. Snow was good and snow guns pumping it out. Will be back!
Brenda Pagan: We went snow tubing. It was ok. The process could be better. The way they have you get on and off the tube is cumbersome and the lanes don't feel safe. We went to Gunstock Mountain in NH a few days later and had a far better experience there. It's worth the extra $.
S K: Perfect for young children and beginners who are just learning how to ski. Conveniently located and responsible prices. Best price for the money is a seasonal pass deal...
imn test: Messy too crowded
Robert Reposa: Fast lifts allow for more runs! Easy trails to learn on. Fun for kids! Lots of ski instructors ready to teach you how to ski.

Central Mass Ski Group: what do users think?
john gilday: The Central Mass Ski Group is a fantastic club!I was introduced to the Central Mass Ski Group in 2001 by a colleague. I joined and over time convinced my wife, my brother, my sister-in-law, a childhood friend and his wife, and a 2nd childhood friend to join the club and take numerous ski adventures with me. Bruce and Linda - who run the club - are organized, attentive, loyal, and fun. The club attracts ski enthusiasts from New England and some mid Atlantic states. I highly recommend this club to anyone searching for a friendly, inclusive, and cost effective way to ski with other ski enthusiasts.
Cindy Courtney: I joined CMSG 4 years ago after my divorce because I love to ski and didn't have anyone to ski with (all my ski buddies were friends of my ex-husband's). I didn't know a soul on my first trip, but everyone was so warm and welcoming - I felt like I'd hit the jackpot. The club is a labor of love for the owners, and they work hard to ensure a great experience for everyone - from the skier who is just looking for discounted lift tickets at a variety of hills, to those like me looking for a social experience as well. The weekend and week-long trips are an unbelievable value - I'd never be able to make these trips on my own for less money - and they are such a great time! I've made friends and look forward to winters so I can get back on the hill. I highly recommend CMSG to anyone looking for a ski club.
BACMJC: I've been a member for over 20 years. I've always had a great time on the trips, met some great people and had tons of fun. The meetings are always fun with some great reps from different ski areas and a great raffle. I've brought family members and friends on trips and they loved it. Would recommend this group to anyone who skis or boards. LET IT SNOW!
Frank H: Where to start, I can’t say enough good about CMSG. This is a great organization, the people that run it are absolutely top notch and have been running this ski clubs for years – they know their skiing! The web site is great, very clear, accurate and concise. The monthly club meetings are great, very informative – they bring in people from different mountains and ski shops to discuss the latest in skiing. I’ve been skiing through CMSG for several years now and it seems like the trips get better and better every year. The trips and prices are great and I’ve never had a problem with CMSG – unfortunately, I had to cancel a trip once due to a family issue, I did it on time and as the web site instructed and was refunded no issue. I wish all the other ski groups could be CSMG. I say let it snow…
diane lacourse: I have been a member of Central Mass Ski Group for the past seven years. CMSC has the best prices on skier appreciation days and weekend trips. All trips are well organized and the staff are professional and friendly.
Jessica Hiatt: CMSG has managed to keep skiing extremely AFFORDABLE for my family and me. I love the weekend trips and day trips (skier appreciation days)- you can’t beat the prices. After attending meetings, it is evident that the people who run the group put in overtime to harness strong relationships with the members and with the mountains, and truly care about keeping prices affordable for their members. Representatives from the mountains and from local ski shops attend the meetings and give great presentations, keeping members up to date on the latest conditions and latest ski/snowboard technology. There is a raffle at every single meeting with unbelievable prizes! Employees and mountain owners love CMSG members! Want to ski out west, but think it’s too expensive - not with CMSG - very affordable! I love this group!
Jennifer Fichtel: CMSG is the BEST! Much effort goes into planning the trips offered at the best prices. I've always found the information on the website to be spot on for details and clarity. We've been members for 25+ years and have recommended memberships to several of our friends and family. We've never been disappointed. We've also enjoyed getting to know other members of the club over the years...many who have been members as long or longer than we have. The enthusiasm and comradery among members is so nice to be a part of!
Kara David: CMSG is TOP NOTCH! GREAT VALUE!My family and I have belonged to this group for many years and have had nothing but positive, helpful and fun experiences! We’ve attended numerous trips and I’m always pleased in how smoothly it all goes from start to finish. The way the club is run, displays a real passion and knowledge for the sport of skiing, as well as, genuine appreciation and respect for its members.I highly recommend CSMG!
Marykate McDonald: I have belonged to CSMG for over ten years and it is one of the best values out there! I have gone on the skier appreciation days, weekend trips, and the week long trips. All of my experiences have been excellent and I have had at least 10 of my friends join as well. Trips are well coordinated and it is great to ski with a group that shares your passion! Plus, on the longer trips, there are group get togethers and dinners which adds to the experience! The variety of locations that the club goes to is fantastic! Best of all, you cannot beat the prices! Lastly, staff are accessible and accommodating. I would highly recommend this club!
Alyssa kelly: Being a member of other ski groups, I can definitely say this one isn’t worth the time or effort. As a first time member of this particular group, we signed up for a trip on the website and thought there would be a bus since other trips mention “U-drive only” and this one did not. Upon finding out there was no bus, we decided to cancel due to lack of information provided. The ski group refused to provide a full refund and refused to refund the membership fee we asked for due to the lack of information they provided. The people that work there handled it very unprofessionally, were blatantly rude, and did not want to accept blame for not providing the right information. Giving them one star is being generous. Don’t waste your time.

Strand's Ski Shop Inc: what do users think?
Christian Piper: Excellent service and a great, family run business. I had my skis tuned and bindings tested… they did a terrific job. They also recommended that I get new boots as mine were “old enough to vote”. I returned at the end of the season and an older gentleman was happy to help me through the process of picking out a good set of boots while respecting my budget. I would definitely recommend the shop!
Julie Goldberg: I cannot reccomend highly enough! I have been skiing about 3x a year for 4 years. I finally bought my own equipment this year. I have very athletic legs and always had a difficult time with boots. I just assumed they were suppose to feel like a torture device. I live in NYC, but was in town and figured I'd go to Strand's because I grew up in Worcester and I've known the name for years. The $75 I spent to have them work on my boots is literally the best $75 I have ever spent in my life. My abilities have progressed tenfold this year with correctly fitted boots. Everyone was a delight to deal with. Thanks so much, Strand's Ski Shop!
John Klimas: I bought some Nordica Navigator 85s in Jan/23. The price was very good, but most importantly, these really are just the right skis for me. This was the recommendation of the staff and I'm glad I put my faith in Joe. Look around at other ski shops but once you work with Strands you won't ever need to go anywhere else for skis, snowboards, gear or advice.
Corey P: Not a kid friendly place
Chris Toomey: Love getting my stuff from Strand's!The staff is super helpful and doesn't try to "upsell" you into the most expensive gear. They're very helpful in finding the right fit for whatever price you're looking to spend. They also take the time to set up your gear right in the shop to make sure you're ready to go as soon as you hit the mountain
Cameron Cox: Best Ski Shop in the area. Large selection at a variety of prices. Excellent service and even better staff. Shop here for any and all of your Ski or Snowboarding needs whether you are a beginner or a veteran.
Todd Ingersoll: Knowledge and passion for skiing and equipment abound. Old school and very thorough. We left with awesome equipment perfectly fitted and ready to go. Most of the negative comments here have a common thread “we didn’t buy our stuff here and wanted them to service it”. We couldn’t of been happier with our experience!
Joshua Aube: Will was fantastic. Brought out a few pairs of boots and each pair was better than the last. They know their stuff.
Adriano Soares: Strands is not the shop for anyone on a modest budget. Several times over the years I have come here; they have made it clear I am not welcome. If you aren't comfortable spending large sums of money on boots or skis, don't waste your time here. For example, I recently brought in a pair of boots (bought online) for my younger brother, who is brand new to the sport. The gentlemen rudely berated us for requesting a fitting on a pair of boots we didn't buy at Strands. I don't take issue with his opinion, but rather the way it was communicated - we left feeling "unworthy" of the tech's time for a simple, respectful request. Most everyone at the shop oozes this pretentious attitude as well.In the end, Strands can choose to run their business however they like. However, perhaps you should be wary of a business that only treats a customer respectfully when they spend enormous amounts of money. Catch my drift? If that doesn't bother you, and you have highly expendable income, I have no doubt in the quality of the work at Strands. They are clearly experienced techs with lots of know how.Otherwise, I would recommend the Sport Loft in West Boylston for your tuning needs. And for boot service, there are many shops in Vermont ski towns (Killington, Okemo Valley) that do a great job. This is not your only option if you live in Worcester!
Jeffrey Horn: Great boit fitting experience. If you are looking at APEX boots, this is place to go..
Isaiah Giese: Amazing place. Go here for your ski gear
Priscilla Eastty: Pros: The shop has a great variety of ski wear and accessories for men, women and children. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Cons: The parking isn't the best and the prices are on the high side.
Katy M: Amazing service! I came because other good reviews about boot fitting. They were right. The team at Strands went above and beyond to get me into the right fitting boot and help me pick out skis and bindings for my skill level. I especially appreciated the thorough boot fitting experience which comprised of trying on multiple boots and adjusting to my width, as well as all the detailed info on ski types to consider. Super stoked to get out on my new skis this seasons. Thanks team Strand!
Brian Bigda: Used to shop here a loooong time ago for my skis with my parents, and just have not been back because of a skiing hiatus and because we no longer live that close. On the way back from Wachusett stopped in to find skis for our son that were becoming a little hard to locate. The folks at strands had what we needed (they actually have an incredible selection - largest I've seen), were very knowledgeable, helpful and, communicative (granted we arrived at kind of an off time and it was a fairly quiet when we were there), pricing was competitive, AND they actually mounted and got the skis ready for us while we were there in less than 10 -15 minutes so that we would not have to drive back. Outstanding experience. Pretty much sold on making Strands our go-to-ski-shop (even thought it's a bit of a drive) for any future ski purchases. Job well done!
John Almeter: While on a recent trip to NH, my wife and I decided to stop overnight in Worcester MA. She needed a new pair of boots. Of course, we Googled and came upon Strand's Ski Shop. I read the reviews and was taken back a bit by some of the comments but determined we needed to get this task off of our list before getting up to the mountains so off we went to pay them a visit. We walked into the shop and immediately felt the energy of its history. Everyone was busy and focused on their current customer with complete attention on their needs. We browsed around while we waited. The sounds of skis being sharpened, the clanking of boots as customers tried them on; it was exciting. They had lots of equipment. Clearly a shop with experience and ready to accommodate every class of skier. We patiently waited and it really didn't take but 5-10 minutes before we were greeted with "is there something I can help you with?" It was Joe, one of the half dozen or so people waiting on customers. My wife explained her situation, a bunion on her right foot. Ok, if you've read this far, I'm glad coz your question as to whether this place is worth it or not is about be answered. It was at this point that my wife and I experienced what a truly professional ski shop is all about. Joe was joined by Leif and the two of them went to work testing boots, looking at her existing boots and explaining her options. They took full interest in this women's needs and didn't accept simple answers. They drilled down on her responses to ensure they solved my wife's boot problem completely. It was obvious to me that their interest was doing the job right, not turning over as many customers as possible by shilling anything that will turn a buck. Their interest was in making sure they performed their duty as professional ski equipment advisors and fitters as well as it could be performed. The experience was amazing the staff were friendly and fun. Throughout the process we enjoyed great conversation about skiing and other topics. Joe was a consummate professional and he made all the difference. To top it off they bought back my wife's old boots, which they didn't even sell to her!I guess when you carry the moniker of the oldest continuously operating ski shop in the COUNTRY, (yes that's right - over 90 years at the same location,) it comes with a responsibility and they take it seriously. So, if you're able, treat yourself to this place and don't worry, they're cognizant of your budget. Ask about the Tuckerman's Revine picture from 1937, it features Leif's dad. You will not be disappointed. To be clear and make sure I'm not mischaracterized, I don't know these folks, have never been there before nor heard about them. I'm not paid by them or anyone for my comments. I just happened to land there today and felt compelled by the experience. I hope the mini-book will help someone!
Robert K: On the surface it isn't a refined ski shop like some in 2022 would expect, but the knowledge is deep! Not hung up on old ideas either. The ski selection is unreal for Stockli which I consider some of the best skis made today. The more you talk to some of the old timers in there the more you realize how current they keep there KnowledgeBase yet applying knowledge from years past. I bought a pair of boots for there 4 years ago and was the best decision I made in a life time of skiing and racing. I recently purchased new AT boots there and it was yet again a great experience.Things to consider when shopping is the boot price typically includes foot beds and boot work. Beds are anywhere from a $40 to $200 dollar value. If buying race boots you get full custom beds valued at $125 minimum.Side note: Two years into my first boot purchase my ankles started yelling at me at the end of long days. They pushed the boot ankles out for me and didn't charge a dime. Service you don't get everywhere and honestly hard to find in 2022.
Amie Humphrey Facendola: I will never not buy my ski boots here again. These guys are experts at boot fitting, better than I have found anywhere else. And everyone was very nice and helpful. Highly highly recommend!
Arthur Swanson: I've bought many and multiple pairs of skis over the last 30 years. Excellent service and knowledgeable staff. I love the 2 pairs of Stroltz boots. Now I'm looking for Volkl race skis. This is the best shop around for skis, boots and everything you need.
D M: Great people, this is the place to go for expert advice on ski equipment in Central mass! the golden retriever is so friendly too! Prices are on the low side also really really good value highly recommend
Pamela Dietz: This is the ONLY place I’d go to get ski equipment. Period.
Paul Todaro: I’ve been riding since I was 5. I’ve been to mountains across the country and dozens here in the northeast and many ski shops in between. Strands is the best of them all. They know their equipment, they listen, the price is always fair. Unless disaster strikes and I need gear out of state due to an accident I will not buy my gear anywhere else. Can’t say enough good things about the place, family owned and a staple of the community.
