vassilis k: A very cozy french restaurant on Newbury street with great food quality and very friendly service. Since last month i have already been there two times. The atmosphere , the french wine and the delicious mussels are the reason for me.
Travis W.: Delicious food, great atmosphere! We started with the Fois Gras Duo and the spicy saffron mussels. Both were wonderful. From there, we shared an onion soup gratinee which they kindly split for us and then we had the Le Confit and the Filet du Boeuf. All we delicious. To round it out we had the Entreme and Apple Tart.Edge thoroughly enjoyed the meal from start to finish and will definitely be back.
Moises Romero: This restaurant is a gem in the Back Bay area. Typical French dishes. We had the rib eye with fries and enjoyed it very much. Our server was excellent. He was very attentive and guided us well through the experience. Has the real feel of a small French restaurant. You won’t regret it!
Augusto Titarelli: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Leah: Service and food were excellent without being overpriced, of which seems to be the norm these days! Our main dishes came out extremely late (almost an hour wait), but I can forgive.. :) Hope it doesn't happen again.
M F (Cato): Ate dinner with my wife and daughter. Very busy but the atmosphere was very inviting with all those eager to experience French cuisine. Waiter was great so was the food. Will definitely make our way back since we were from out of town. Loved the restaurant and highly recommend.
Jacqueline Luciano: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Le Risotto, Creme Brulee, Caramelized French Onion Soup Gratinée, Les EscargotsMore
Stephan Howard: Our favorite place !Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Le Risotto, La Terrine, Creme Brulee, Caramelized French Onion Soup Gratinée, Floating Island, Lamb Shank, Fish Soup, Le Cabillaud, Sole, Chocolate Ganache, Duck Confit, Les Escargots …More
Wenhao David Shou: I’ve been dining at La Voile for five years, and I’ve never been so disappointed by there food. For starters we had the onion soup, rich and creamy, and I have nothing to complain about it. However, the following escargot is terrible. The texture of the escargot was not ideal as it was over cooked and the parsley on top lacks the essential accent of garlic. The two main courses are even worth. Both the cod and the duck is under seasoned, resulting in a very bland palate. The sweet sauce of duck should be the essence but there are only a few drops of it. The majority component on the plates were two purées that does not make sense at all, especially for the fish. The extravagant sweetness from the purée destroys the flavor of the already-bland fish. What a mess.
Alec Lesser: Gave me food poisoning from the beef
Viengrat Nethipo: Great food, fantastic service at a lovely neighborhood!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Creme Brulee, Sole …More
Lucy Song: Very satisfied with our dinner here. I've already recommended it to my friends and it will definitely be selected into my personal gourmet list.Food: We tried the Boston Dine Out menu, and the price (60-80 per person including tax & tips) surely worths it. We ordered typical French food: foie gras, duck confit, beef shoulder and la soupe, everything is delicious and perfect. We are really fullfilled after the entrees and almost forget we still have desserts, and the floating island is also perfect.Service: Considerate service, waiters are nice, polite and hospitable. They provide heating cushion if you feel cold outside.Atmosphere: Light enough but gentle environment light makes it relaxing. A good atmosphere for dating couples.Others: Highly recommend book in advance if you wanna sit inside. A casual walk on the back bay street after dinner is also recommended in good weather.Parking: Didn't see street parking or parking lots nearby. We walked there.
Jea Kim: Great place to enjoy classic French cuisines. After a great time at their bar upstairs, I recently came back with my family to get the full experience. Not only were we impressed with their impeccable service, but also their food was some of the best authentic French cuisines I’ve had in the city. Most of the dishes here were presented with understated sophistication and ravishingly concentrated flavors. In some dishes, seasoning was kept to a bare minimum to accentuate the flavors of its respective ingredients. A prime example of this was les moules. Bathed in a light, well-rounded curry cream-based soup that imparts earthy tones, the mussels were wonderfully addictive compositions. Other hot appetizers that we ordered were also good. Escargots and the foie gras were simple but delicious, and the French style risotto was interesting. The true highlight of the meal, however, was the dover sole. The triad of brown butter, caper, and lemon paired extremely well with the light and moist texture of the sole. On the other hand, the duck and the lamb entrées were just okay. The quality of the meats was great, but their execution wasn’t very flattering.Overall, our dinner at La Voile was much more than we initially anticipated. Would definitely go back in a heartbeat whenever I’m craving for French food.
Mary Shannon: Outstanding service and classic French food. Our sommelier was knowledgeable without being pretentious, and attentive without being overwhelming. If your looking for traditional French food this is the spot.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Sole, Floating Island …More
Candelaria Iglesias: One of my favorite places to dine in in Boston. One of the best French restaurant that I ever try. Everything on the menu is amazing, good atmosphere and dedicated service.Toooottalllyy recommended.I prefere for dinner because I´t a place in were you eat a lot, then you need to go directly to bed hahah
Daniel Thornhill: This place is not good. The beef tenderloin was over cooked, dry, and chewy, medium well instead of medium rare. The baby potatoes that came with it tasted as if they’d been made in the morning and kept warm all day. The mashed potatoes came to the table cold. Carrots were steamed and flavorless. The wines by the glass are supermarket wines for outrageous prices. We talked to the dining room manager, but all we got was a half apology and a thimbleful of cheap champagne. We spent $240 and then ate premade dinners from Roche brothers after. How this place got 4.6 stars is amazing to me. This place is terrible.
Charlie Chung: Delicious and a menu update

Kimberly Flanagan: My favorite Boston restaurant! Reminds me of our local bistro in SWFrance.
Jim Saalfield: Great onion soup.
Marina Orlova: I liked this place. The place is small, so I highly recommend you make a reservation before going there at least on the weekend because they might be packed. The food was great! I ordered Fresh Maine Lobster Bisque and Chicken Coq Au Vin. The Lobster Bisque was great because it had many lobster bits inside. Not in many places can you find this kind of Lobster Bisque. My main dish was tasty too. The chicken was soft and the sauce made it extra delicious. They have frog legs and escargots. Maybe I will try them next time. I tried their Aperol Spritz and it was good. On the menu, you can find cocktails and French cocktails. I found that interesting. The service was good, your server was nice and friendly.

Jinlin Liu (Zero): The food is average, not amazing. It may be that my common people's mouth can't eat noble French food. The snails were very salty, only the foie gras tasted good. Oh yes, the chocolate soufflé is delicious. If you want to try normal French food, this might be the place. Remember not to order steak, the chef can't tell the difference between medium and well done, the grilled steak will not kill you.

Celeste De Palma: 5 stars all around for this fantastic spot!!! I can't say enough nice things about Deuxave. I told staff we were celebrating my husband's birthday, and they gave us a very intimate table that really made the evening all the more special. Everyone wished my husband happy birthday and pampered us with a complimentary appetizer, courtesy of the chef that went perfectly with the duck liver pattè we selected. We enjoyed every morsel and sipped our cocktails to the last drop.We had the Long Island duck breast, and it was the best duck we've had in town. Also, note that the portions are super generous - a nice surprise, given how good it was! I tried their flirty lychee fiz, and it was as fun as it sounds. The dishes were cleverly plated and made the experience so much fun, on top of everything being absolutely delicious.Thank you, thank you, thank you for being such gracious hosts!! We will be back.

Alex Maiella: Celebrated our 4 year anniversary at Deuxave and had one of the most wonderful dining experiences thanks in large part to our fantastic waiter, Wesley.Wesley was not only funny, and attentive but also extremely knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. His experience in the industry was incredibly apparent as he told us the history of the dishes we very much enjoyed and where each ingredient originated. As for the food, between the Lobster, Duck, and Tuna, there is no way that we could decide on our favorite. Similarly to our appetizers and entree choices, we took Wesley’s drink suggestion for our choice of wine with dinner, and then port to go with the fresh and creamy crème brûlée. We cannot believe that this restaurant does not have a several week waitlist. I am grateful to have found Deuxave though because we will definitely be returning with friends and family on Thursday or Friday to dine with Wesley again.

Matthew Donahue: Great food for a good price
Kenneth Lutchen: Arrived from Boston University with a faculty candidate with a party of 6 for a 6PM reservation and was seated immediately. Most of rest of restaurant was empty. Asked if we wanted bread which we did, and they gave each guest 2 slices on a plate and we later found out there was a $3 per person for this. Took our dinner orders by 6:20 or so. Main dishes did not come out until....are you ready......8:20. One of our party had to leave before his main dish arrived. We kept asking when the main meals would arrived and got same answer each time...."a few minutes". This was a staple restaurant for me as a Dean at BU to take guests to, even throughout the pandemic. Now we will likely not return as there are so many other choices.

D Fernandez: Hospitality is key here and it shows. We reserved a table and we were seated right away upon arriving. The atmosphere is unmatched. Service from start to finish is excellent. Richard S: Went for dinner downstairs and came back two days later for dessert upstairs and can’t say enough about the incredible food and service here. Nicest reception and wait staff in Boston. For food the unusually coconut soufflé was a must, same with the most delicious crème brûlée I’ve ever eaten. The mains were all excellent.
Roberto Cavallini: Sin duda un lugar elegante. Servicio a la mesa atento y discreto, con decoración muy agradable y sillas comodas. Platos de acuerdo al sitio: deliciosos.
John Chung: Well we made a reservation for Easter Sunday at 1:30 pm for our party. We arrive on time and almost 30 minutes later we are cooking our heels in the foyer still waiting for our table. What exactly is the point of a reservation then? The staff was very apologetic and offered complimentary champagne. But it was annoying. Nonetheless they were quick to fire the food and it was very tasty. So for the food alone, I would rate a 5. But there is really no excuse for the late seating other than overbooking the tables or poor management of tables (e.g. telling parties they have a time restriction on the table).Perhaps at a less busy time we would return.

Bastille Kitchen: what do users think?
Amy Winecoff: I wanted to make a last minute reservation for my partner's birthday somewhere near Drink so we could grab a cocktail after. Most of the places in the Seaport I wanted to try were already booked, so I booked a reservation at Bastille. When we first walked in, the decor gave me a TGI Friday's in the 90s vibe, so I immediately thought--uh oh. But boy was I wrong! We had an octopus appetizer that was tender, just a bit salty, and delicious. I had a roasted bronzino that blew any other whitefish dish I've had in the area out of the water. The grannies that frequent this place, they know what's up. I would absolutely go to Bastille for a nice dinner again!
Greg Jawski: Very poor service and very average food.
Tim Melvin: Service is a little off but the food was very good. Solid 4 stars.
Ronald Rivera: The lobster bisque was exceptional! Steak fries - perfection.Service was friendly and attentive. Sounds level - comfortable for conversation. Altogether a lovely experience.

Frenchie Wine Bistro: what do users think?
Joe Donnelly: We had a wonderful experience. The cozy ambiance and top-notch coffee make it one of the best places to grab a cup in Boston. We were seated by the window, which provided an excellent view of the street and the service was prompt and friendly. The menu was so tempting we had a hard time deciding what to order. We ultimately settled on the Croque Madam and Barley crepes, which were both delectable. We also enjoyed splitting a butter croissant, which stole the show. To drink we had coffee and a refreshing mimosa made to perfection. Plenty of Prosecco in it!The only drawback was the tight seating arrangement which might not be suitable for larger parties. Nonetheless, everything we ordered was served hot and tasted amazing. Overall, Frenchie Wine Bistro was an exceptional dining experience that I would highly recommend.

Karl Johnson: We went for brunch. I thought the service and the staff were good but we were both disappointed in the food. I got the Eggs Benedict with lobster and fries. The egg was cooked well but could have used more hollandaise sauce. The lobster was terrible. All I got were the small tip ends off the claw which are the worst part of the lobster and a little bit of knuckle meat. It was over cooked and tough. The fries were fresh cut but were limp and soft. They needed to be twice cooked. My wife got the Onion Soup and the Arugula Salad with shrimp. The onion soup needed more seasoning and her shrimp were small, over cooked, and tough. Some of the other dishes we saw looked good. I guess you have to know what to order. I do not recommend the lobster or the shrimp. I doubt we will go back.
Kennedy Moore: Frenchie's is a small but cute and lively restaurant in the heart of the South End. The staff was extremely friendly, food came our pretty fast, and everything was absolutely delicious. The bottle of pinot noir was a good choice for the table and their spin on an old fashioned was notable. We especially enjoyed the espresso martini. The duck, streak frites, and housemade cavatelli pasta were all great. Additionally, the creme brulee and olive oil cake were a delectable way to end the meal.
Alec Stepanian: I had a very nice burger here and my coffee was excellent! However, the seating is incredibly cramped. I felt like I was completely on top of everyone else and didn’t have enough room on my table. I don’t think I would return, as it’s too claustrophobic for me.
Sergio Solis Checa: Cozy brunch place in South Boston. We were 10 minutes late and almost couldn't get a table, so better be on time here.Gladly surprised to have found fresh orange juice, which is almost impossible around here. The burger is average, and the Benedict's are great, just like the coffee, jam and juice. Service was really good as well, and even with a full house, we didn't have to wait long
Nolan Shapiro: I was told Frenchie was a taste of France in Boston, and I must agree. I went for a birthday brunch and the food was great. I got the salmon plate and my friends got different versions of the benedict. Overall, prices were reasonable (for a fancy bistro) and portions were surprisingly large. The drinks were good but not great, and the service the same. Overall, would recommend for a nice brunch with friends.
Karen I: All the dishes were fancy. Staff are smiley and kind.Overall was good but the spaces between the table are close and my neighbor spilled wine to my bag!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
William Snavely: Felt like being watched by the staff. YukFood: 2/5|Service: 2/5|Atmosphere: 2/5 …More

Nicole Wood: Frenchie Bistro was great. My husband and I went there and he had the duck confit hash and I got the white truffle croque mansieur. The white truffle was not over powering and I opted for mushrooms in it and it was delicious. They made me a non-alcoholic cocktail which was great. We sat in the back which is a glass walled area that makes the city feel like someone quaint non-city backyard. It transported you to a peaceful place. 10/10 would recommend!Vegetarian options: I swapped the meat in my meal for mushrooms

Juliana Downey: I came for the bartender Andreas. Muy bien, gracias señor.
J. Fawohunre: Food: 2/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Samantha Antona: Aesthetically pleasing place with good food! The OJ was definitely fresh squeezed
Gregory Kechejian: Tremont St small eatery with nice French bistro vibe, excellent service, enticing menu, clean bathrooms and reasonable Boston prices. Exciting drink and adequate wine menu complement the experience solidly. Worth a visit before the theater or friends night outFood: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Deep Dand: Good cocktailsFood was really goodAmazing Cremé BurleéStaff is really goodHappening vibeCan get noisy because of cramped space.Vegetarian options: The place has decent vegetarian options but I can't go in very hungry and expect to come out feeling full.
Emily Malamet: I really enjoyed my experience at frenchie. The management team is amazing, and the greenhouse is so cute ! And Philippine is just wonderful !Definitely recommend this place !
Emma Hatfield: Love this place for the wine! Happy to come back for a visit after Covid to discover the small little nook in the back has now become the restaurant. The only critique I would make is the very shallow pot of cheese fondue I tried... Which was great except that I'm used to seeing half a pot or full for 1 or 2 people. It made the half price fondue night seem more reasonable rather than a bargain to look forward to.🤔
David MacIndoe: Food was excellent. Prices are a little steep but they could be worse. I went for brunch and both my wife and I had the duck confit hash. The poached egg was delicious, the hollandaise was buttery yet light compared to the thick sauce you often get at breakfast joints. It had potatoes, onions and some kind of turnip which might sound gross to some people but it was cut small and there wasn't too much; just enough to provide an earthy backbone to the dish. I wouldn't go here regularly because of the price but it's not too ridiculous.Service was great, the waitress was polite and helpful. We had a few periods of long waits between visits, but it was also busy and maybe they were understaffed like many other places. Don't go here if you're in a rush, but it's nice to relax if you have the time. The atmosphere was very nice. It felt clean and while I've never been to France, it made me feel like I was transported there. There was a nice garden patio in the back that looked nice for warmer months. I would definitely come back here!
Katherine Calandriello: This is my favorite restaurant in Boston. I always take my friends and family who are visiting the city here. It’s expensive but I usually order several appetizers to share. The creamy onion soup, Brussels sprouts, and crème brûlée are the highlights for sure! And if you make a reservation I’d recommend requesting to sit in the back sunroom/atrium if you’re on a date. The front half of the restaurant can get a bit noisy.
