Greta Fox: Raw sewage started coming up into my basement! Called Rotorooter who told us they were treating us as an emergency, and a technician appeared promptly. He explained everything clearly and planned out the next steps. A second tech came the next day and did a camera check and found that tree roots had invaded the pipe all the way out to the street. Another tech came out and hydrojetted, which cleared the line, and the next day a team came out and did a zero-dig pipe restoration, creating a pretty-much-everything-proof liner. In the interim, another tech had visited to discuss and schedule the final cleanup. These guys told us everything every step of the way - what would happen, when, how long it would take, what it would be like, what it would cost, and what to do about the insurance claim. We're a Covid-conscious household with immunosuppressed members and everyone from RR who came in was prepared with a mask. My brother, an appraiser, did a quick eval of their services and costs compared to other companies, and was very satisfied. Gail F: I would like to say I was hesitant about signing up for a trade school class. I’m a homeowner/ investor who has dabbled with small diy projects. The staff were very accomodating fielding many questions I had. They mentioned all sorts of people sign up whether diy’ers such as myself to people entering the trades. I signed up for basic electricity and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of knowledge they taught me. Bob Conelley, a Master Electrician and certified instructor is a great teacher who has a lot of heart for his students and clearly enjoys teaching. There is a ton of hands on learning skills and each student is assigned their own booth. I enjoyed how much hands on their is and feel comfortable doing small projects around the house. There is a fair amount of book work and we learn alot, I would feel comfortable taking the journeyman class after. All in all I wished the class was longer or that there was a advanced hands on class. Best value and wish I took this sooner!

Khristopher Neeper: If you are veteran read this and be warned.My experience started with the school contacting me stating "We contacted the GI Bill and they notified us they are not allowing for you to use your education benefits due to the online learning." Now I called the VA helpline for assistance. I explained to them what the school told me. The Educational specialist had then notified me "That is funny the school would tell you that. No we are approving educational applications. You just need to update your 22-1995 form." Now do not trust the school. They just want to pass you over for greed. They do not want to wait for payment. The manager is not acknowledging that his instructor did something wrong. The instructor's name was Tony. I have to warn anyone going to this school any issues the school will not assist with you to resolve them.Update 06/28/2021: I drove one hour there to show up due to the previous experience I had. It went the same as last time. I had even tried to call 3x to get to the front desk. When I arrived the excuse I received when I asked why no one answered was as follows: "Well did you leave a message?" Are you kidding me? This school is a joke and the front desk staff still do not respect anyone who walks in or does not want to their job. They just ignore the issue and once again had to contact worechester to assist with the registration.I have attached part of the conversation I had with this so called professional school. Where they choose to do nothing about resolving the issue at hand. Good luck everyone to find a better option for their career.

Df rety: If I didn’t need the 300 school hours to get my license I’d have gotten a refund. Still considering it. If you value your money and/or want to actually learn about electrical DO NOT go here.It is halfway through the school year and I can guarantee if the class took a mock licensing test every student would fail. For the cost of the course being in the Thousands of dollars you’d think it would be a decent quality education. However the teacher is unqualified to teach and the most effort that’s put in is reading the answer key of one textbook or finding a bad YouTube video. No teaching or learning is done here. I should also add that basic electrical theory and math is not taught. It is SUGGESTED by the teacher that we learn it, instead of it being taught in class.Class is supposed to be 4 hours but starts late and ends early. Not once have we been in class for the full 4 hours. If the board of licensing looks into these classes then about 100 people will have half of their schooling disqualified. If I ask a question in class it’s brushed off because “we’re not at that section yet” but we have already passed that code section, won’t be going back to it, and to top it off the class will be derailed for a significant portion of time about any other random topic or code area unrelated to what we are learning.The most work we do is answering questions out of one textbook. Which there are some issues with the textbooks. The code book I received has text missing and huge ink splotches on other pages making it unusable on my license test. Another textbook is actually written by one of the teachers which is an expensive self published PowerPoint listing (incomplete I might add) osha safety laws that are free to look up. You are also forced to purchase these books you don’t use in order to take the class, considering it’s written by a teacher seems to be a conflict of interest.Communication is no better at the school either. I’ve emailed about payments, class or materials issues and got back either no response at all or a short one ignoring most of what I asked. It’s not just personal communication but to the entire class that’s equally bad. Sometimes it’s up in the air if there’s class that day or not because no one tells the students or they’ve told the wrong class that the teachers out. The teacher by the way has missed the most days out of the class and because of which the school is requiring students to take school on Saturday as well just to make it in time for the end date.Again, Even though I am paying THOUSANDS of dollars, I am totally on my own to TEACH AND LEARN MYSELF electrical code and theory. The only thing the class is good for is hearing the answer key for the textbooks which you do not get yourself with them. There are many issues at this school and I do not recommend to anyone I know or work with or who reads this to enroll here. Go to one of the high school trade schools night classes. You won’t get 300 hours in one year but who knows I might not either if they get disqualified. This school is ridiculous.

E: The electrical program is an absolute waste of time and money. I've never paid so much and received so little from something before. These "professors"have no qualifications in teaching, you might as well just ask your uncle to explain everything in the code book. The only thing redeeming is the fact is you get 300 hours a year. But if you're looking into the school prepare to teach yourself entirely and waste 2 nights out of your own week. Self study self study self study. Even the paperwork they give you is out of date.

John Kirchner: I hired McMahon when the 1/4 hp motor on my hot air furnace died. It was an old furnace and the tech told me they could not find a replacement motor anywhere (they looked for couple hours) he told me a new furnace is ~$8-9k.The tech said if I found a motor they would install it, very nice. I found one on ebay (exact model # motor but also ~30 years old). I had the tech install the old $89 ebay motor and it did not work. I understand it was my gamble and it cost me. It was ~800 for McMahon to install the faulty motorI took the old motor to an HVAC supply (Custom Fan in Medford) and within 1 minute the guy behind the counter found an identically spec'd motor (for $280). I highly recommend anyone in the same situation to do go to Custom Fan.I also had McMahon service the two functional furnaces (it is a triple decker) at a cost of 369/per furnace. When I looked I realized they had not even replace the air filters, and when I looked in the track the filter goes I could see the accumulated dirt in the duct work.I paid McMahon by credit card over the phone, as I was not present when the work was done. Despite being told by the tech I would get a receipt that afternoon, and despite the fact I have called and asked for receipts 4 times I have yet to receives in excess of $1,500 dollars.I took the new motor I found at Custom Fan and installed it myself. It works perfectly and took me ~ 45 minutes to do, would have been quicker but I also installed 3 new filters ($45).

Hilary Gould: Horrible customer service experience. In the midst of the record temperatures I had a couple of pipes burst. In a panic I called a bunch of plumbers including McMahon because of their amazing reviews. They told me they were all booked up for the day (Sunday) but could schedule an appointment for Wednesday. I decided to take it.Luckily, I was able to have a different company come to repair the pipe. Shortly thereafter I realized my heat via my boiler was not working properly. I had not cancelled the appointment with McMahon for Wednesday, but they did not show up. When I called to inquire why no tech showed up they told me they had no record of my appointment, but they would call me the following day.On Thursday, I received a voicemail and called back to get a window. They let me know my window was between 12-4, but would likely be after 2. A little after 3 I hadn't heard anything so I called to confirm they were still coming. The woman told me they would not be coming and denied the appointment. She even went to listen to the recording of my call that morning and then just apologized that they agreed to a time slot.I completely understand things are incredibly busy, but I have twice now cancelled/rearranged my plans to be home during my set window to have someone no show. They should not be committing to time slots or making appointments and then no showing. At a minimum they should be making courtesy calls as soon as possible when they know they cannot make it instead of me needing to continually chase them. I would not recommend them to anyone as clearly their scheduling system (or lack there of) is a mess.

Michael Bellefeuille: I worked with McMahon Plumbing & Heating on a kitchen renovation, including replacing a sink and garbage disposal, relocating a gas range, installing a water fill line for fridge, installing a radiator, and relocating a hose spigot. They also replaced some corroded pipe that was uncovered during demo. Their pricing was fair and upfront, and they were prompt, professional and friendly. Jonathan Olsson: Was a repeat customer of McMahon - not anymore. Had a service tech out to the house to evaluate a backup and diagnose. As to the Service tech and his plumbing skills, he was great. Unfortunately, the Service Tech did not have the equipment to complete the job in his truck. He asked if I needed it done today - I did not. They sent me the estimate after the visit - but are charging a "Dispatch Fee" to come back out and do the work in addition to the dispatch fee they charged today to do the work. Called customer service and got "Jennifer" who asked "What can I do to make you smile today"? I asked her about the Dispatch Fee and why they would charge me to come back out when they didn't have the equipment. She didn't care that the tech didn't have the ability to do the work today "We always charge a dispatch fee if the work isn't done in the same visit". Would have been nice if they told me that upfront. She also claimed if I had put down a deposit they would have gotten the equipment to me today or waived the fee. Would have been nice if anyone told me that. Since the tech had just left, I told her it would be great if they could get someone out to do the work today so I don't have to pay another dispatch fee. Jennifer refused. Anyway, Jennifer did not make me smile and the nickel and diming practices of this place is why I will no longer be a repeat customer. No issue with their plumbing - but I am not going to pay an extra $150 because the tech didn't have the equipment on his truck. And Jennifer could use some customer service training.

Stephen Bonica: Poor service all around, would recommend steering clear unless you want to play guess and check with repairs. When working on my heating system the first repair was 2000$, and less than a month later the system was broken again. The second repair was quoted at 1500$. Instead of wasting 1500$ with this company I went with another heating company and the fix cost 300$. I have not had any issues since. Hoping to help someone else avoid the same mistake I made.

They charged me around $900 for something that took less than a bit more than an hour, and required a few common and inexpensive parts. They don't break down how much of the bill is parts and how much is labor so it's difficult to discuss it with them. I do know they have flat fee that they charge per visit (something like $160)... in addition any charges for parts and labor. They came to my house twice because they lacked a part on the first visit and charged me this fee twice. So that's $300 before they even start charging for labor or parts. Even at $600 it would be expensive considering that it was a small and fast repair. Despite the high quality of their work and their customer service I won't use them again.Service:Heating system repair

I've used them before for heating services, so maybe that is their strength. I will never call them again for plumbing services. I had a clogged shower drain-- the most simple plumbing problem to fix! I can't miss work and wait around all day for a plumber, so my retired neighbor let them in. Then they stood around for half an hour and left without doing a thing! Apparently they needed to speak with me before they could do the job. I'M AT WORK! I CAN'T ANSWER THE PHONE! I TOLD YOU THE PROBLEM, SO PLEASE GO FIX IT! Instead they wasted everyone's time. Then I called Vaughan Plumbing & Heating-- also local to Hyde Park-- and they gave me an UPFRONT COST! How hard is that, McMahon?! I left a check for them for the amount they quoted me, and the job was done the day after McMahon did absolutely nothing. For plumbing issues, please use VAUGHAN P & H! I have no idea what McMahon expects. I have a job-- my life doesn't revolve around you. I guess if you are available to stay home all day, then McMahon might be able to fix your plumbing problem. By Sunday afternoon, the wonderful folks from McMahon were in our basement, discussing options for replacement that could be done that day or the next. We chose the tankless system and McMahon said we’d have hot water again by 3:30 the next afternoon. And we did! The old broken tank was gone and the hot water was working again at 3pm — a half hour early!This is a great company. They show up when they say they will, they know their stuff, and they are kind and helpful in stressful situations such as flooded basements. Give them a call when you need a plumber. Ryan was able to come out and assess the situation within 24 hours and scheduled Tom to inspect and repair.Tom came out two days later and was able to spot the source of the leak, and suggested i replace my entire washer/dryer stack. I declined, since the leak just appeared to be a $30 hose to have failed. Tom also suggested the HVAC unit nearby needed to be cleaned, to which I mentioned I have an HVAC service scheduled for two weeks later. After the weekend, Tom came back with a new hose to repair and tried charging me $900 after claiming to have serviced my HVAC (though he wouldn't tell me exactly what he did) and replaced gas hoses to the dryer which was absolutely unnecessary.I've used many home professionals in the past and I've never felt like I've tried to get taken advantage of until now. Giving two stars since I assume the work was actually completed within a week, but to be charged $900 for a hose replacement is absolutely shameful. They came and said they needed to open part of the wall and quoted $425 (which doesn't include fixing the leak or restoring the wall). We paid them $125 for their visit and didn't ask them to come back. Later, we found an opening ourselves behind the dishwasher that allowed us to look at the pipes. They charge $125 just to visit you and because $125 can be deducted from the cost of actual repair, you're lured into thinking that you should use them for the repair but they just end up costing you more money! Karl Dugal: I had my first boiler die after 11 years of owning a two-family house. Worse, it was in the middle of January leaving my tenant without heat. I had several plumbers/plumbing and heating companies come and look to access the damage and what replacing the system would entail. Most highlighted the issues I faced switching from oil to gas, and the dated piping my steam system involved. Some estimates were out of control and others suggested sticking with oil. Knowing I needed heat for the coming months, but not wanting to overspend put me in a tough position. Tom took a look at everything, and wrote me up an estimate immediately afterwards. I asked a few follow up questions regarding the possible issues switching to gas and he assured me that it was the right move, and included a warranty on all the work. We set up a date to install/remove old boiler in 3 days. Tim and his crew arrived on time the morning of install, and completed all of the work by dinner time. Everything was left neat, and clean and Tim even swapped out some vents on the radiators for me, and stuck around to make sure the system ran correctly. Additionally, the clanging in pipes which I had heard for years was corrected. Furthermore, both Tom and Tim contacted me in the days following install to check and make sure myself and my tenant were stratified with the systems performance. Highly recommend and will definitely be calling again if/when the other boiler needs replacement.

Unfortunately life isn't perfect ,and several hours later tenants notice that they can smell gas again. Tom send another one of his guys to come that night to take care of that.Next day,they reported to smell more gas and proceeded to call another company.They noticed that the leak was coming from behind the stove and were instructed by me to fix it.Unfortunately nothing in life is perfect,but the fact that 3 different plumbing companies and the inspector made sure to come in ,on the moments notice to fix and inspect everything is something that I am thankful for . Especially in these times,when it is hard to find someone to do the job and to show up.On the issue of permit,they didn't need the permit to fix any of the leaks . But they needed a permit to put in a vent (fan in a can),which they obtain . As I have gone over that with Amelia and her boyfriend. The day was set for that work to be done ,but unfortunately ,even after the last pluming company, called in by them , has explained to Amelia and her boyfriend that everything looks good and they are good to go until the vent is installed.Unfortunately that didn't work for the two of you and you have decided to move out after only 12 days and have been refunded your rent.This all being,I was so saddened that I wasn't able to give you a perfect place ,but at the end all the people that have shows up did the best they could and more to resolve the issue.Good luck to you bothAnd at the end I just wanna thank not just Boston budget plumbing but all the other companies that shows up and did a fantastic job.Thank you and stay safe !!!
