Joan Miller: Bizarre experience with "design consultant" Nancy, who wanted us to pick out fabrics before looking at furniture. She also kept insisting on seeing a photo of our room - she didn't seem to understand I didn't value or want her opinion. We gave our business to Currier's in NH instead.

degen league: We received a gift from a friend which was made by Design within Reach. We wanted to return for a different item that fit our home better but were told you cannot return an item and get a credit or even do an exchange. The return only goes back to the original card of the purchaser, in this case informing the gift giver of the return. Insane policy and now we are forced to keep a gift we don’t want. Doesn’t encourage us to ever shop here or give a friend gifts from here again. Update your systems!

Raphael Matto: I had the best service experience of my life at this DWR (I’m mid-40s). The staff is wonderful! I worked with Adam L & purchased about 15 items over a 1/2 year period to furnish my new apartment. This was smack in the middle of the pandemic when there were heaps of supply chain & availability issues. Some of the items arrived quickly, within a couple weeks, others were delayed by months. Adam set expectations & guided me through all of it, provided updates, made sure I was getting the best sale prices, rushed to correct a couple mistakes for free (I’d forgotten to specify the leg color on a desk, and a table showed up in a different wood), and offered an incredible discount on one item I’d ordered that changed manufacturing locations & looked a bit different. He was so knowledgeable, helpful, and patient, esp with fabric choices, and some waffling on my part trying to decide between chair and sectional sizes. It really was the best retail experience I’ve ever had, both with the build-quality & beautiful design of my purchases and with the service—I’m so happy with how my apt turned out. I also worked with Andrew on a couple days when Adam was out, he is so relaxed & great, too, & the store manager, Margaret, who is wonderful, warm & friendly—she extended a sale date for me, & pulled some strings in a tricky situation. Delivery crews were also fantastic, navigating everything up a narrow steep staircase to my attic apt, and assembling everything quickly & expertly right there. One piece of advice: it’s good to know which type of delivery service an item is attached to—some usually larger items are linked to “white glove” delivery & can be partially unpacked in the street to squeeze them up tight spaces, & are assembled on-site. Other crews (standard service?) are only allowed to leave items on a front porch if they don’t fit in a door or up a staircase. So I’d recommend asking which type of delivery service an item is attached to, otherwise you might be confused or disappointed when something is left on your porch instead of being brought in. Anyway, highly recommended! I will always purchase through the store & not online for anything significant, it just really helps to have someone from the local store in your corner in case something needs to be returned, or to get status updates, etc. & I like knowing I’m helping out the local branch :)
Vicki Klein: We bought an Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman. Everything went so well until delivery was backed up and communication with our salesperson/manager fell apart. We were told one thing and then another. We had to chase down people in charge for answers. They couldn't even get the delivery on time after they screwed up. Now we are trying to return the chair and ottoman and need to pay for the return and restocking fees. It's been a week since we've heard from anyone after our salesperson said a pickup would be scheduled earlier this week. Even today, after being promised someone would call, no one has. For the price we paid for this chair and ottoman, and for the price we now have to pay in return fees, the customer service (or lack thereof) is so ridiculous that I can't imagine anyone wanting to invest in this store for anything. Everything should be top notch at these prices especially the customer service "white glove" treatment. It's been a total headache. Never again.
Fang Z. Ni: We ordered and paid for a TALL Eames Lounge Chair. 3 weeks later a SHORT Eames Lounge Chair was delivered. When we complained, we were told the correct TALL Eames chair will be available in 3 months and swapped.... 3 months pass and they AGAIN delivered the SHORT Eames Lounge Chair. At this point I am speechless. Design Within Reach should invest in some quality control measures.

Andrea Iriarte: The furniture is beautiful. You can buy pieces that you could not get anywhere else, by great designers. The price point is higher, but you are buying great quality and design. The sales persons are quite knowledgeable and helpful. The have private parking in the back of the store.

There was NOONE in the store. Then a guy comes, takes in the first party in line, and tells the next party it might be 15-20 minutes. So maybe an hour wait for us? But who knows? There was NO commuication. They clearly didn't give a damn about communicating with us. We could easily have been browsing in the store. Or have people make appointmemts. Just terrible cistomer service. Really disaapponting. We won't go back.

This is furniture that will look and feel good in one's house for a generation or more.In particular, Bobby Valentine has been a joy to work with when purchasing furniture. He's lightning-fast to respond with a quote and helpful with a good suggestion. He's the reason we're willing to make the trip into the city and visit this location.

Chloe Shively: Not sure what in person shopping is like but online order customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I’m not planning on ordering from here again. Edited for response: I’m not unhappy because I couldn’t get free expedited shipping. I feel Lauren didn’t answer my questions, and over wasn’t stellar with customer service skills. Yes it’s annoying to order something and then have it pushed back , but also I’d recommend being upfront on your site if something is a pre order that you don’t even have in stock. I ordered from this site because it was one of the only sites with this item in stock but that wasn’t true. I’d rather wait to spend my money someplace else when this item is back in stock. Lauren did not respond as you did to my query about having faster shipping since the item was so delayed. If she did I wouldn’t be writing this review. She merely told me she’d be charging me for it, and then removed the charge when I asked if it could be waived due to the inconvenience . I hope these details help explain I’m not just sad I can’t get free fast shipping. It’s more the overall customer experience I had.

They don’t always have full inventory on the website (I only know this from having been in the store and having seen how extensive their collection is), but I just call the store and they fill in the blanks. no point in ordering from amazon when shopping local is so easy and reliable.

Quynh Dang: High end kitchen store selling top of the line kitchen ware. I got knives sharpened here and it was the best sharpening my knives have ever had. The sharpening was more expensive than places like Sur La Table, but seems like the edge will stay sharp longer. Wish they had more mid-range price options for housewarming and hostess gifts.

Lisa Landaw: We’re semi-obsessed with Nadeau. We have 4 major pieces of furniture—and counting—from them in our tiny apartment because they’re too cool to pass up. Wonderful collection, great prices and extremely helpful sales staff (thanks for your patience while I measured every thing in the store, Dylan!). Also good place to go for unique accessories (we have some mirrors and I’m eyeing a few throws and pillows) and gifty stuff like interesting vases and baskets. Always have my eye on their insta as they post new deliveries. 💛

Jim Connolly (Barefootin'Wanderer): Great place for really high end outdoor furniture for the patios..the really nice stuff your neighbors will be jealous you went to Seasons Four last week...Not to worry they have much more .Stop by for a look..
Keith Eisenman: Sometimes it's healthy to spend ten minutes ignoring the rest of the world and just watch goats have the time of their lives eating pine branches. You can do that here, but mostly I come to shop the early season or late season perennials sales and to buy an inexpensive (but not in 2022!) Christmas tree. All the long time employees are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Plant prices tend to be a bit on the high side (hence shopping the sales) but the quality and selection is better than what you'll find in big box land. Weekends during Christmas season, the greenhouse hosts photos with Santa, maybe a balloonologist and a string quartet of local (and importantly, talented) high schoolers playing holiday favourites.

Adam Alper: There is a really good selection of patio furniture and accessories, the type you just will not find in the box stores. A variety of materials is available, including beautiful teak and ipé. The prices are not inexpensive, although for the quality, I don't think they're at all unreasonable. Another thing that I like is the presence of displays, which are sorely lacking in box stores. It's certainly possible that you will have to place a special order, but you'll have a much better feel for your options.The staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They will make sure to let you know that they're present to help you, but they will not be in your face or hanging over your shoulder; they will give you time and space.They also have a garden center, although we did not explore that area, but it could make things very convenient if you need plants in addition to outdoor furniture.All in all, this is a really good place to go if you're ready to spend a bit extra for the service and products that cannot be found in the box stores.

Chris Gullotti: Good at sales. Poor at service. This past spring, we had a nice shopping experience and bought furniture to fill our entire screened porch. We knew it would take a few months to get the furniture but that was OK with us. We were delighted when a few of the pieces arrived a month early! We've always wanted teak furniture and loved the idea the furniture should age well on our porch. When we got our new table, we couldn't wait to use it! HOWEVER, we noticed after a couple meals that the normal spills (drips of salad dressing, pizza sauce, etc.) wouldn't wipe up and remained on the table. We called Seasons Four. The person who answered didn't seem to care about the problem but told us we were supposed to not use it for four to six weeks, then we were supposed to seal it. Four to six weeks?!!! She offered no other help so my wife reached out to the sales person we worked with (who is also the owner, we believe). She told us that we didn't need to take four to six weeks (sounds like somebody needs some training) but said that she certainly told us we should treat the furniture before using. Nope, Laura, you didn't. We absolutely would have remembered that. She told us we could sand out the stains and they could sell us the material to seal the furniture. She offered the name of a guy who could do this for us (it turns out he doesn't come to our town). We reached out to the manufacturer directly. They said all their teak furniture comes with use instructions that should have been provided to us with the furniture. Why weren't these instructions given to us? Somebody at Seasons Four consciously decided to discard those instead of giving them to us. Even a $9 t-shirt comes with cleaning instructions! You'd think $10,000 worth of furniture made of a (as we now know) stainable wood would, too, right? The furniture is brand new and we already have to sand out stains. Had we known this we would have either not bought teak or would have taken care to use the teak seal first. Laura offered no real help and seemed more concerned about insisting she must have told us months earlier that we'd need to treat the furniture because she "always tells people". It's clear their's is not a culture of caring about customer satisfaction. It's about getting the sale. Not the type of business we like to support. And certainly won't again.
Jim L.: Have been a customer for over thirty years having bought at least three outdoor patio sets including one very expensive teak Kingsley Bate full set. Also made Christmas Store an annual event with my grandkids. I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to secure a small piece of specialty hardware ( nut and bolt) for a broken Kingsley Bate chair for over three months from store which is an authorized dealer. No help. Finally tracked down Kingsley Bate in Virginia, which was horrified and sent me the hardware with apologies. Very disappointed to say the least because I had liked the store.
