Chalawan Asian Eatery: what do users think?
Carla D'avanzo: Overall 3 because didn’t like all the dishes I tried, it was a 5 course menu. I liked the curry and the dessert most. the chef is very friendly and funnyDietary restrictions: Vegeterian friendly
Enakshi Chanda: If you love thai food, this is the place. Loved the simplistic interiors and good quality food. Everything tasted perfect. There is a separate vegetarian menu which was perfect for me. Recommend the Black pepper tofu. My husband recommends the Chilli Beef. Everything was full of flavor and the staff was very well-behaved.Vegetarian options: There is a separate vegetarian menu with loads of options with tofu, vegetables and also you’ve Thai curry to mix and match.
Silas C: The place is decent great service. The appetizers are a little overrated for the pork belly, but it was not bad. The soft shell crab is not something you should get, was not that good. The rendang was good, but not your typical dryer rendang. Overall, great place to try.
Philip Tellis: Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Megan Melch: Food was very good. My favorites were the roti, whole fish (sauce is amazing) and the snapper dumplings with betel leaf (so good with the betel leaf!)
Vikas Patel: No fried riceBlend food
Tzu-Hsiang Lin: Good food a bit pricey tho
Anna Chase: I went to Chalawan for the first time and unfortunately it’s going to be one-and-done.The quality and flavors don’t live up to the pricing and hype. Having lived in Singapore for a bit and traveled around Southeast Asia, the food here doesn’t begin to capture the stunning flavor profiles of this region. Mind you, “100% authentic” is not the yardstick I’m going for here, it’s more about capturing some of the essence. The only dishes I enjoyed were the snapper dumpling appetizer and the clearly handmade roti. Calamari appetizer had a dry and flavorless batter with too much fish sauce in the dip. Soft shell crab main sauce was too salty and didn’t have a depth of spice flavoring. Curry was watery and curry paste had no punch. The unlimited rice that was served was not top quality rice. Service was a bright spot.As of this writing, the only two Southeast Asian restaurants in Boston I can recommend are Pho Basil and Pho Viet.Panang amd Mahaniyom were also a disappointment.
Juewei Dong: Excellent and tasty Rendang. I also ordered vegetable curry but it does nor really taste like curry. Overall great food but IMO it’s a bit overpriced.
Vic: Amazing food. Cooked to perfection and seasoned is well balanced. Great ambiance as wellRecommended dishes Stirfry Snapper …More
Benjamin Papandrea: All the food was very flavorful. More refined versions of some southeast Asian favorites.Negative: I found the prices on the high side for the portion size.
T. Z: It’s authentic. I wish the food could be spicier. Otherwise the taste was quite good. Unlimited rice is a plus. It’s on a pricey end thus you don’t see crowd
Mandeep Kaur: Flavors were OK but not authentic Malaysian flavors.
Eric Lazarian: Very good Burmese, Thai, and Singaporean options and some Chinese vegetables as well. Good solid core menu. Been there twice and everyone who was with me raved about their selections. Excellent beverage selections and good service. Well worth multiple trips. Look forward to going back again.Great job with their cooked meats and the quality level of their ingredients comes across as above average. Nice presentation on their plating as well.
Derrick Au: Enjoyed the Crisp Pork Belly, Malayu Fish Curry, Tamarind Prawn, Vietnamese Coffee, and Banana dessert served with Coconut ice cream. These guys earned an AFSV score of 5 stars all across the board, and the 'V' is for value.
Samuel Lipoff: Everything was okay, but litereally every dish had something wrong with it. Betel leaf filling was served cold, straight from the fridge, which muted all flavors. Borneo asam tahu should be sour, but it was too sweet. Melayu vegetable curry had a great variety of vegetables but it was so muted as to be flavorless. Gado-gado salad was probably the best dish of the night, but the sauce was too watery. Thai tea flan was overcooked. Black sticky rice dessert was undercooked. Beautiful restaurant, with an unusual menu that includes some Indonesian dishes not otherwise found in the Boston area, but literally every dish had a mistake that made it just . . . meh.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options.
Thao Nguyen: Love their soft shell crab stir fry dish!!! So so so so so good
Blaise Nothern Will: Everything about this place is perfect, delicious, and beautiful.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Nayara Leite: The staff and ambiance are excellent. We got several small dishes to try. My favorites were duck salad, chicken betel leaf, and snapper dumplings. The scallops were too spice for us. I would come back!
Joe Fisher: Great food!
Ari Radcliffe-Greene: The food was enjoyable with some dishes that I rarely see. I would definitely recommend this place.

Moona: what do users think?
Fatimah Alshaikh: food was top notch! best mediterranean food or any food I’ve tried in the area for that matter! def coming back! i came with 2 lebanese people and they loved it as well, so passes the culture check!Recommended dishes Dips Plate, Fattoush, Eggplant Fatteh …More
Marjorie: The eggplant fatteh is possibly the best thing I have eaten in my entire life.Food: 5/5Recommended dishes Eggplant Fatteh Recommendation for vegetarians Highly recommend Vegetarian offerings Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes …More
Ibrahim Mansoor: After what felt like an eternity of waiting (a month to be exact), our anticipation for our visit to Moona, an Eastern Mediterranean & Arabic restaurant, reached its peak. This intimate, mosaic-tiled gem is perfect for any occasion, but it's especially ideal for date nights.Four of us embarked on this flavorful adventure and the place was bustling with patrons throughout our two and a half hour culinary escapade. We decided to embrace the communal dining spirit by ordering and sharing dishes instead of going the traditional appetizer and main course route.Round 1:Dips Plate (mustard labneh, hummus, smoked baba, olives, pickles)Batata Harra (spicy crispy potatoes, cilantro, and lemon)Fattoush SaladThe smoked baba ganoush stole the spotlight, seducing our palates with its irresistible smokiness. The Fattoush Salad was a reliable choice, and the Batata Harra was a revelation - crispy, tangy, and just the right amount of heat. Hot potatoes indeed!Round 2:4. Msakhan Duck RollsEggplant FattehMushroom FarroLamb BurgerRound 2 was a battle between the Eggplant Fatteh and the Lamb Burger, both of which emerged as the undisputed stars of this round. The Lamb Burger's perfect harmony of flavors and textures made us swoon, while the Eggplant Fatteh's delectable layers had us speechless. The Mushroom Farro and the spicy Duck Rolls were also a delightful addition to our gastronomic odyssey.Round 3:Slow-cooked Lamb ShoulderAs a self-proclaimed lamb connoisseur, I can attest that Moona's slow-cooked lamb shoulder was nothing short of heavenly. It was so good that my inner carnivore emerged and devoured the plate in no time. The added touch of dates was surprisingly delightful, making it a true symphony of flavors.Round 4 (Desserts):Hallawa Cheesecake & KunafehI'm usually quite picky when it comes to desserts, but Moona's Hallawa Cheesecake and Kunafeh had me singing their praises. Both were stunningly delicious and served as the perfect finale to our feast. To wash everything down, I indulged in a pomegranate, cardamom, and mint lemonade mocktail. Whoever came up with this concoction deserves a medal – I had four refills and could have easily had more!Despite the packed house, the service was decent, and our food arrived with fairly good timing. Just remember to be patient and perhaps order some appetizers if you're on the verge of being hangry.Lastly, we recommend taking an Uber to Moona, as parking might be a bit of a challenge. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed with Moona's ambiance, menu, and the talents of the chefs. We can't wait to return and explore the rest of the menu!
Sunny Qin: A bit pricy but all vegetarian dishes are delicious!! Highly recommend the vegetarian mushroom main dish! The desert is mediocre tho…
Ahmed Eid: Food was delicious, service was okay, portions were small, and overall it was nice place. Had the eggplant, carrot, and the lamb shoulder.Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Margarita Kamenova: Great service. Great food. Great place. Highly recommend it.Update March 2023Back to Moona. The food is just as amazing as ever! A soul food to the next level. The octopus and the carrot salad are to die for! The farro brings your soul to life with its fresh warmth and comfort. I'm in love!
Hank: Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Chicken TagineMore
Aysheh Alrfooh: Recommended dishes Chicken Tagine, Hallawa Cheesecake, Musakhan Duck Rolls, Fattoush, Eggplant FattehMore
Nathan Kastner: Fantastic food, great ambiance, good music and friendly service. We went to Moona for a late dinner and were blown away by the flavor of the food. For 2 people: Dips Plate, Baby Carrots, Scallop & Duck, Chicken Kebab, Steak Tips, and Feta Fritters were more than enough food. The Feta Fritters might be the best dish I've eaten in Boston. Dessert was their cheesecake - one of the best I've ever had. Scallop & Duck also stand-out as a must-order dish. Don't have any pictures to add of the meal but would go back in a heartbeat.
Eric Baron: If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a romantic night out with your significant other, Moona is definitely worth checking out. The atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable date night. The restaurant's small plates are the real star of the show, each one bursting with flavor and presented with an artistic flair. The food is so delicious that I found myself savoring each bite and taking my time with every dish. The plates are perfect for sharing, which adds to the communal feel of the place and makes for a fun and engaging dining experience. In terms of ambiance, Moona hits all the right notes. The lighting is soft and intimate, the decor is tasteful and modern, and the overall vibe is relaxed and chill. It's the perfect place to unwind after a long day or to celebrate a special occasion with someone you care about. All in all, I would highly recommend Moona to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!
Fatima Farrukh: I’m sorry but I don’t get the hype. The food just isn’t upto par. Pretty average Mediterranean food which is my favorite cuisine. Easier to get a reservation than most places but I won’t be back
Am: Moona is a little Middle Eastern gem in Boston. We went as a party of four to celebrate several things and they didn't disappoint. Delicious food and drinks kept conversations flowing till late. Also, their staff is simply amazing and wonderful to chat with. Will love to go back againVegetarian options: Many vegetarian and vegan options available
Chris Spahr: This place is the best! Each dish has its own unique spice and incredible flavor - the atmosphere is very chill - drinks are extraordinary and a Lebanese beer washes it all down perfectly.
Sean: Truly some of the best food I've had in all the Boston area. This place makes me want to reduce some of my other five star reviews. Absolutely would return.
T. Z: The restaurant is too small always hard to get seated. Mezza menu are the greatest, eggplant fatteh was so good! The grilled fish came in big portion but the taste is kinda disappointing. I would recommend going for bar seat to have a drink and appetizers that’s all.Recommended dishes Feta Fritters, Eggplant Fatteh …More
Kyle Gil: Honestly stunned how amazing this dinner was . Manager Christine went out of her way to help us with our parties food allergies .the best customer service I have ever seen. I will never forget this dinner . Truly 10 out of 10 experience . I will tell everybody about this place .
Archana Sondhi: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Tiia Groden: This was one of the best dinners I’ve had in years. All of the food was unbelievable and the service was incredible. I can’t wait to go back and would give this a 10/5 if I could.Recommended dishes Feta Fritters, Musakhan Duck Rolls …More
Yazy: Not your average Lebanese food. If you are looking for a unique food, you must try Moona!Dined in Friday nightService is great, friendly staff, and nice vibeFood is small portions but packers with unique flavorsFor 2 adults, we got 2 mezzas ( eggplant fetta and Feta Frittas) and 2 from the mashawee ( grilled octopus and date molasses steak tips). We also ordered Halawa cheesecake and was so balancedThey also can turn any cocktails to mocktails And they were so deliciousEnjoyed our dinner at Moona and definitely coming back
Eric Song: Another great small plates restaurant in Boston. The plates are priced reasonably, and the portions are good so you'll end up around $40 per person. I recommend the Eggplant Fatteh and the Mussels.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Eggplant Fatteh …More
Juliet Iredale: Great and affordable food in a very cute setting! We ordered a couple of cocktails and small plates. Everything was very tasty and flavorful – their cheesecake was also very good.

Oleana: what do users think?
Ignacio Perez: Great venue with a very high standard of service and food, while still being very relaxed. Love the unique wine selection.
Mel: Oleana is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. Every dish is bursting with flavor and very creative. The waitstaff is always super nice and helpful, and while it may seem expensive, I think it's quite reasonable for what you get (especially when compared to other places in the area). We ALWAYS order the topik, fatteh, and sultans delight, but everything I've ever had here has been delicious. I couldn't speak more highly of Oleana - definitely go here!Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. At least 50% of the menu is vegetarian or can be made vegetarian.
Anthony Maiorana: Everything about our experience here felt amazing. Our reservation was at 8 and we got seated relatively quickly even though we were a bit early. We had a cozy little table in the bar area.We did two tasting menus plus cocktails and a couple of other dishes and the vegetarian creativity at this restaurant absolutely blew us away. We felt so lucky for getting to eat here. Definitely worth going and spending some time here
Tim Lapinskas: Recommended dishes Turkish Style Profiteroles, Lamb Gyro, Sultan's Delight, Hot MezeMore
Larry Slate: Great flavors. Portion sizes small as advised.
shrinidhi navale: Nice for a one time experience. The cold dishes were good. The baked alaska was extremely sweet for my taste.Really pricey for tiny portions.Parking available on street and in a lot across the restaurant.
Arthur Athanas: Wonderful dining experienceParking: Tricky but doable. Pay attention to the trafficWheelchair accessibility: Seemed to be fine. Entrance was a ramp
Ahmed Kamal: Hands down my favorite restaurant in Boston. Gives that “finally, something new” taste after every other run-of-the-mill restaurant. Great taste and texture to every dish I’ve tried. Also a good variety of dishes without deviating much from the cuisine.I tried their peer restaurant, Sarma, and it was really underwhelming. If you have to pick one, make sure it’s Oleana.
Max P: Came here on a double date and we shared a whole bunch of plates family-style. I don’t think there was a single plate that we didn’t enjoy. Will definitely be back!
Aude-Marie Alem: My fav restaurant in Cambridge so far.And I did plenty!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Joe Lillis: Wonderful restaurant!
Lauren Summers: The Moussaka was rolled up in the eggplant instead of like a lasagna. So flavorful and hard to make. Also loved the Fatteh. Haven't tried that dish before. Cozy bar and ambiance. Great wines too!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Fatteh …More
Geno Castro: Easily one of the best restaurants in Boston. Great selection of mezas, and drink menu. Presentation of food is spectacular. 10/10 recommend.
Namratha Subhash: Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Fatteh, Sundae-Turkish Coffee Ice Cream, Turkish Style Profiteroles, Sultan's DelightMore
Lamia Youseff: Good food and ambiance.. desert to die for. Make reservation ahead of time though... same day reservation are hard to come by.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Icy Kendrick: First time at a Turkish restaurant and it was great. Lamb was a little salty though. I got a negroni and it was fine but I think a red wine would have gone better with the meal. We'll try it again when we get back in the area.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Fatteh, Za'Atar Bread …More
William Lane: Incredible dining experience as always. Incredible food and service.Recommended dishes Topik, Baked Alaska, Whipped Feta, Sultan's Delight …More
Gail Stewart: I highly recommend Oleana. The food was exceptionally good due to interesting flavors and beautiful presentation. The service we received was terrific. The staff were friendly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Lemon Chicken Za'Atar Turkish Cheese Pancake, Deviled Eggs, Sultan's Delight, Hot Meze …More
Zhe Gong: Made reservation more than three weeks ahead of time and went there for birthday dinner on a Thursday night at 830pm. The restaurant is small (elbow-to-elbow dining) and extremely noisy. The dishes we ordered were not bad (three spinach falafels, two quail meat bites, a few braised beef bites, lamb and cabbage bites, whipped feta, and baklava), however definitely not worth the price (three falafels for $14???), nor the hype. The service was slow. Overall it was not an enjoyable experience and I left super disappointed. If you are rich (or have a super tiny stomach) and get impressed easily, maybe this place is not too bad a choice.

Mariana Jordão: Food is good but staff is not friendly. They brought us the bill and kicked us out after less than 1h. We sat 15 min after our reservation because they were understaffed and couldnt help the other tables. I wouldnt go back. Also expensive for what it is.Recommended dishes Chicken Tajine, Lamb Tajine …More
Wilfredo García: Delicious authentic Moroccan food! The best!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Kate: Really bad food and service experience. Vegetables in the tagine were definitely frozen peas and carrots from a grocery store. Lamb tagine was sickly sweet. They need to hire more staff and improve quality of food.
Adam Assiraj: Amazing food!! I’m Moroccan and usually never go to Moroccan restaurants but my friend insisted I come here and can’t get over how good the food is. Highly recommend it! Chicken bastilla and lamb tagine are something else!
Aude-Marie Alem: Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5Recommended dishes Smoked Eggplant Dip, Chicken BastillaMore

Carolina Hidalgo-McCabe: Excellent flavor in the food, sweet staff, and warm atmosphere. Come expecting slow service, the staff is doing their best!!We got the lamb tagine and the chicken tagine and they are so delicious.Recommended dishes Tagine of Lamb Shank, Chicken Tajine …More
Pedro O: This has been the best food Boston I've had in 5 years. Try the Lamb Tajine!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Samuel Ojeda: Some of the best food in boston!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Sergio Solis Checa: It started really well with great small plates that we took as starters, which set high expectations for large plates. However, main were nowhere close to the level of the starters, we had salmon and couscous. The place itself is quite simple but cozy, so no complaints, but nothing special as well. The service is super friendly, but a little slow, and I didn't like that they automatically add 18% gratuity, and then list extra space for tip on top of the gratuity
Trent: The food (chicken tagine, lamb tagine) was under seasoned and underwhelming.
Arindam Samanta: We enjoy a number of dishes here, including the lamb, salmon tajines, as well as the fresh sherbets.Recommended dishes Chicken Tajine, Lamb Tajine, Tagine of Lamb Shank …More
Tim Carter: Best meal I've had in ages! The calamari starter was a def. highlight - very light coating and perfectly cooked with a slightly spicy sauce - Double Yum!!
Othin Ram: food is just okay.would've given negative review given the chance. They didn't serve the drinks we ordered but added in the bill. over charged for the item. in total I had to ask them thrice to change the bill. with the terrible service I had no intention to add good tip but they added 18% already.we're the first group to be in that restaurant and for 30 mins no one was there. their response was really rude and I had a terrible experience when I came here along with my parents.when I asked them about terrible service they told they're busy. Omar (manager) response was we've only ordered 2 entrees. We're group of 4 and we've ordered 2 small plates and 3 entrees and made $175 bill. The way they've responded was so mean and rude. I regret going to this place.
Aishwarya Bobbili: They need to hire staff. These people have worst service and try to make u order more dishes just to include in the bill. We ordered some drinks and they did not even serve us and charged in the bill. They know people don’t tip them for their service and they charge it by themselves for 18% in the total bill which is compulsory for us to pay.Totally worst experience here. Wouldn’t recommend it.
