There is a little ramp that takes you to the other side of the store where you can do all of your custom stationery and invitation orders or DIY.Decent selection of tasteful, fun, seasonal novelty gifts. Nice selection of greeting cards that you aren't going to find other places. What they lack is a true scrapbooking section. They don't sell cardstock or most scrapbooking kitsch.

University Stationery Co: what do users think?
tim white: University stationeryRight down the street from MIT is one of the oldest local, long standing businesses at some 90 years serving our area. I gravitate to these places which add so much character to the Boston area. Small yet strong through the unique better products they curate with a smile and maybe even a story of the Cambridge area they know so well.We will be back girls :)
Matthew Lau: Rude owners and the worst customer service
Maite Suarez-Rivas: Great experience at this family-owned store. I was going out to visit/stay with some west coast writer/producer friends and wanted to show up with a gift that they’d use often, was from a family-owned business, and very Cambridge. The two ladies at the store helped me pick out these pens that write as beautifully as they are stylish. The store also had cards made by a local artist and gift bags. My hosts loved their gifts!
Cal B: Two sweetest ladies running the store.
Sadie: Wonderful folks, good products
Nagela Nukuna: Unfortunately, not a very friendly staff member that I was exposed to. I entered the store because I saw a mug that I liked with mathematical equations, and saw a 20% student discount sign on the door. When I brought it up with the saleslady (and mentioned that I went to MIT), she said that the mug is not considered a "student item", and that the discount only applied to things like notebooks, paper, and "things that students use". I pressed and mentioned that students do use mugs, and the sign on the door did not mention "student discount for select items only" - or at least did not mention that it was for select items in a legible format. After about a minute or so, I said - "you know what, usually I would push further to negotiate but that's ok", to which the salesperson told me "We're a small business - we may not even be around in a month for you to negotiate further with". I didn't reply. Then, unprovoked, she said "You're in the wrong country" - to which I said, "Excuse me?". She went on "you're in the wrong country.- we're not in a country like India, where people barter for everything". I looked over at my friend - I was not pushing for something that was unreasonable. The sign at the door said "20% off student discount". That's not bartering - the sign shows false advertising. I said back to her - "I'd just like the mug, thanks". Then upon giving me the receipt - for the $15 mug, mind you - which she said was already discounted (I don't know the validity of that statement), I said that I didn't need a receipt, as I normally do. I manage my finances online (which I didn't feel the need to divulge). She stared at me and then sassily said "Okaaay", drawing out the word - as if in a mocking or judgemental manner. I was extremely off-put by the experience - I thought it was rude, unfair to the customer, her attitude and statements were culturally insensitive, and clearly the advertisement on the door was misleading. Needless to say, I won't be shopping here in the future - nor will I be recommending this location to others. If I could give the shop 0 stars, I would.
Elizabeth: Very friendly staff. A lovely small business to support. Carries most things you'd need stationary-wise. Also carries getting cards.
Will Guter: A small place with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere.
Arthur Hamilton: Convenience, is within walking distance from work. Prices are fair and had exactly what I needed in pens, markers and other interesting stationary.
Eddie Fisher: Great people. I have known them for over 25 years and you will not find a better business to deal with.
Robert Humphreville: Gail and Betsy are the best. They can get you any stationery supplies you want quickly. Excellent quality, price, and service. What's not to love?
이현수: Good stationary store.
Nubs: Reasonably priced tourist postcards. For whatever reason, the employees sit in the very back away from the register and are not ready to go when you are.
Matt Reno: Gail and Betsy are terrific! Hard to find item? Ask them for their catalog - it’s huge!!
This is Service! :)
Zoe Lemon: They have good prices, but best of all the people who work there are sooo sweet!
Max Khatsenko: Awesome friendly staff, small business, homely feel. It feels good to shop here
Lawrence Barriner II: this is the best stationary store I've ever been to. they have pretty much everything i actually need and if they don't, they'll order it for me! i used to go in and the folks there knew me by face, would ask me how the semester was going, and then give me a sweet student discount. places like this are made of gold.
Mark Nahabedian: They often have what I'm looking for, otherwise they can usually get it in a few days.
Elayne Gordonov: Love this place! It is a family-owned stationary and office supplies store. The owner's are helpful and very flexible with products. Once I only needed 2 sheets of paper in a 10 sheet pack. The owner told me to just take 2 sheets out and that is all I was charged for-- won't find that at Staples or OfficeMax!
Betsy Lenora: I always enjoy coming to University Stationery to stock up on supplies for my store. My favorite thing is knowing that I'm supporting a locally owned and run business and not some big impersonal chain. I shop here even if I might be able to get a better price elsewhere (tho I always get a good price). Gail, Betsy and Barry are almost like family to me. I also enjoy the over-flowing shelves - I can browse and find something unexpected. But I can ALWAYS get what I came in for. It's a fun store with great people.

Bob Slate Stationer: what do users think?
Michael [Kel] Monroe: This place is a gem, and they have more than you think. Before feeding the big chains and relinquishing your money out of the region, consider giving it to Bob Slate for just about everything you can get at larger chains.
Rory Razon: Don’t let the terrible website dissuade you from visiting. They are open, seem to be fully recovered from the flood (??), and have a lot more to offer than what’s on the website. It looks cramped and drab in their pics. It’s actually very open and bright. I didn’t check out their stationary much. I went in on what I thought was long shot for a bottle of Sailor ink. It was a bit annoying the the ink is behind a counter, but I was helped right away by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Wish they had a couple more pen and ink brands. But this is definitely my go to place for most of my fountain pen needs.
Nhi Vo: Great selection of pens and notebooks.
Andrea Martinez: Best place for a variety of cards and some are made locally which I find extra special! Will definitely be returning.
Claire-Marie Brisson: Fabulous selection of paper goods, pens, ink, sealing wax, and more. Bob Slate is my destination for all of my cards and gift wrap. They carry products made by my favorite lifestyle and entertaining brand, Caspari, and carry other hard to find brands like Clairefontaine and Rhodia. Thank you for everything!
Laura von D: Nice place. Check the Fenway location one. It is much bigger place there with much fun
Kyle Rager: Carolyn assisted me with my first fountain pen purchase, a charcoal LAMY Safari with black-blue ink. Every inane question that I had was answered with patience and charm. Thanks again
Karen Stone: I received superexcellent service when I went in looking for help with a pen. They know their stuff and really care about the customer's experience. Highly recommended!
Richard Tian: I visited this nice stationary store on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. Chris, an employee of the store, was so helpful in showing me what fountain pens they had to offer. Very friendly and pleasant experience. I ended up taking home a beautiful green fountain pen that I very much enjoy. Thanks Chris!!
Desiree Zimmermann: I’ve gotten into fountain pens recently, and Bob Slate has a wide variety of inks & they’re knowledgeable about items they have, and although you can’t test them they have a binder full of swatches for you to see what they look like. They’ve also got fun cards, good notebooks, and a variety of normal writing utensils. I’ve been going here for years and recommend them to anyone looking for stationery or writing utensils!
Alicia Rolsma: Great selection of pens. Best I have found in Cambridge thus far.
Jeremiah Anthony: This is frankly one of the only stationers worth their salt. They sell good products at a good price. They are very helpful in helping customers find out exactly what they want. I can't recommend this company enough. If you go to Boston you must pay them a visit. They are simply the best.
Ryan Gelly: Nice products and selection. However they do not accept credit cards and don’t indicate such. The cashier (rudely) told me I could pay debit or with bills smaller than $10. I didn’t have a debit card so even though I had a credit card and a $10 bill, I was not able to purchase a $4.25 card. Disappointed, I had to pay more for a lower quality card at the CVS nearby.
Matthew Burckardt: A lovely local stationary business. I particularly like their house brand 7.75x5 notebooks.
Jesse Potwin: Knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Malia Wenny: Highly recommend this store for stationary, pens, notecards, etc. I have bought and enjoyed many of their notecards in the past. I recently went hoping to get an engraved pen as a gift. The staff went out of their way to help me pick a good pen with the engraving I wanted, including going onto the website of the pen company to be 100% sure the engraving color was available. They called to confirm everything and called again when the pen arrived. The pen looked great and I really appreciated all their effort as I had never bought something like this before. I will be going back to get refills and notecards!
Elizabeth Alcinoe: The best place to buy cards in the Boston area. And they have great notebooks.
Fanny Gavarrete: Excellent, office supplies and more.Excelente, esto sí es una papelería completa
Nicholas F.: All the best things. Not *only* luxury stationery, but old-timey #9 envelopes sold in batches of ten. French and Belgian papers. A marvelous store.
David Lyon & Patricia Harris: Legacy stationer for those who care about putting words and ideas on paper. No discounts, but quality of products is uniformly high.
Cameron: I haven't been in a long while but I purchased my first fountain pen and suitable stationary here. I was given recommendations by staff and they turned out to be excellent choices for the price paid. I will be a returning customer. I wish there was an online storefront currently, I'll just have to make a special trip instead.

Albertine Press: what do users think?
Azizah Alawadhi: My friend and I joined the post card class. It was super fun, the instructor was very nice
Catherine W: Cutest shop. Love getting my greeting cards here plus you never know what other magic you’ll find.
Arielle Sacks: I came to Albertine Press relatively last minute for my wedding invitations and paper suite, after having a poor experience with another vendor. They were so kind and professional and were able to help me put together my dream paper suite! They understood the motif I was looking for and were able to provide me all the assets I needed, within my budget. Most importantly, they were extremely organized which was exactly what I needed during the stressful planning process. I cannot thank the team at Albertine Press more for such a seamless, beautiful process!
Anna Roy: I've loved Albertine Press's work for years, so when my now-husband and I became engaged, it was an easy decision to ask Albertine Press to design our invitations. We are so glad we did. Shelley and Jen are so talented and are such a great listeners, that after only one back-and-forth we had the PERFECT wedding suite. It captured our shared personalities and all our hopes for our day. As my husband remarked, "I didn't know wedding paper could make me feel so happy." We received so many compliments from our guests after sending them out. After the wedding, we knew we wanted to keep the theme in our lives, so, Shelley and Jen again helped us design perfect thank-you cards as our first shared stationary. Truly could not recommend Albertine enough for your wedding paper!
Taylor Hazan: I love this little shop with all of my heart. The people who work here are delightful, the products are either locally-made or wonderfully unique, and I buy all of my cards here, as well as little doodads to fit into envelopes. :)
Lindsey Barrington: I wish I could give Shelley and the Albertine Press team 10 stars for creating the most magical wedding invitation suite and wedding day paper. Shelley brought everything I could have asked for to life in designing our custom wedding invitation suite - from playful fox and shamrock illustrations on vellum to all the personalized details that we will forever cherish. Our guests were absolutely blown away by the wedding invitation suite and it was just a precursor to the beautiful starry night custom menus, welcome packets, and ceremony programs. Not only are Shelley and her team extremely creative, they are a joy to work with - always professional, responsive and thoughtful. I couldn't have asked for a better partnership for our wedding invitation suite and wedding paper items. My husband and I look forward to working with Shelley again in the future and we can't thank her and the team enough!!!
Julie Xie: We worked with Shelley and her team to design our wedding invitation suite, and we were very happy with the whole experience! The team at Albertine Press were a joy to work with, from end to end. At the beginning, Shelley sent us a large package full of previous work samples that matched some of the moods and styles we told her we liked. Throughout the revision process, Shelley was quick to respond and very receptive to any feedback we had. She was patient through the rounds of edits and typography selections. The end result was beautiful: our invitations and RSVP cards had custom hand-drawn illustrations of our venue and florals, in addition to a custom floral envelope liner to go with it. Highly recommend working with Albertine Press to create your custom invitation suite!
Alexis Wong: I have long loved paper crafts and ever since discovering Albertine Press several years ago, I knew that I was interested in their custom wedding invitations. My husband and I really enjoyed seeing how Shelley took our not-well-defined vision and turned it into a set of wedding stationery more perfect than we could have imagined. Our guests were so impressed by the artwork and we got many compliments, especially about our save the dates. The process of working with the AP team was seamless. Whether communicating in person, over email, or over the phone, they made sure we were informed during every step. I also appreciated that we were able to stay within our budget and that the financial expectations were clearly communicated to us. We would absolutely recommend any couple to work with Albertine Press - you won't be disappointed!
Hannah Jones: We used Albertine Press for our wedding save the dates and invitations and they could not have come out more perfect! Shelley sat down with us in person and listened to what our vision was for our wedding. She took our vision and designed the most beautiful suite for us. The whole process felt so personalized and she was open to any edits I had throughout to process. I highly recommend Albertine Press for any stationary needs!
Annie Gilmore: We had our wedding invitations done here and couldn’t be happier with the results. We came in with no idea of what we wanted and Shelley helped us discover the style and tone we wanted to convey. We got tons of compliments on the final product and wish we could work with her and Albertine more often.
Danny Cohen: Shelley and her team are awesome people and artists who sell great merchandise. I worked with Shelley about a year ago to design and print custom letterpress stationery for my girlfriend -- she not only produced beautiful hand-drawn art that perfectly matched my nebulous specifications, but she did it on a relatively tight timeline and even gift-wrapped the final product for no additional fee. She also charged half what competing high-end letterpress shops were quoting me, not even accounting for the custom art. I shop here at least once a month and am so grateful to live nearby!
Emma Haselhuhn: My favorite place for buying all of my cards, stationary, and gift giving things! They have the best things and it's all so pretty! Plus the staff is always amazing!
L Zsolnay: Fantastic, sweet, eclectic items for sale - as well as nice paper products
Joshua Gerber: Kind staff and a great selection of gifts and nick-nacks.
Gabe Smith: Smells nice. Feels like Scandinavia. Super quirky funny lady at the counter
Eve Gerber: Critical:ValueI signed up for a workshop with my daughter. We couldn't make it and they refused to provide a credit or the opportunity to attend another event. Staff was extremely rude.
Shelby Kehr: i saw this place on a casual bike ride and unplanned bought 5 things because everything they have is so dope - my new go to for occasion cards!
Emma W: Lovely little store with a wonderful selection of print goods and items. Love the stickers, patches, magnets, notebooks, and greeting cards. Just being in this bright shop cheered me up!
Anne Barleon: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ValueI love this place. I will often bring my friends here when they visit because it's so cute. They have the best cards and other cute things around the store. Definitely recommend stopping in if you're in Inman Square.
Emmaline Conti: Such a fun selection and helpful staff!!! Please stop by if you get a chance!
Jackie Levine: A lovely Inman Square shop! They do beautiful custom work (invites, stationary, etc.), have a cute selection of retail goods (stationary, gifts, etc.) and even hold workshops! The owner, Shelley, is wonderful! A special place.
