D Cormier: Staples returned an unopened heavy duty Scotch mailing tape that sold for $3.95 for $0.46 -- that is 88% less than I paid for it. I no longer had the receipt but the register showed the selling price and the return price. The manager said their store no longer sold that particular style. I did not recall which Staples I bought it at. I just had too many rolls of mailing tape, and they were cluttering my shelf, so I wanted to returned one. I returned one other small thing which was unsatisfactory. It is only because I glanced at the return receipt that I caught this rediculous policy. As a large corporation, they should return all unopened things at the price they are sold at in any of their stores. I would not have had a problem getting a store credit, since I shop there regularly.

On New Year's Eve 2022, Haroun at the Alewife store went above and beyond to help me find a cable to connect two monitors to my new computer. And the printing staff at the Soldiers Field Road store were patient and amazing during a stressful time getting some stuff printed in October. 🙌

It’s just annoying because the last time I went next day to pick up my order from Staples, the woman told me that I needed to wait to be called…which one is it???!!!

nia: Went to a staples with my friends cause I wanted to look for a monitor and some art supplies. Was there for about two minutes when a worker came out to us and kicked us out for no reason. We were just looking. Another group of people were there and nobody went up to them. I’m not trying to overthink anything but a group of POC walk in and get kicked out but the other group of people who were white didn’t. Very interesting and I would love to know the reason for it.

I gravitate to these places which add so much character to the Boston area. Maite Suarez-Rivas: Great experience at this family-owned store. I was going out to visit/stay with some west coast writer/producer friends and wanted to show up with a gift that they’d use often, was from a family-owned business, and very Cambridge. The two ladies at the store helped me pick out these pens that write as beautifully as they are stylish. The store also had cards made by a local artist and gift bags. My hosts loved their gifts!

Nagela Nukuna: Unfortunately, not a very friendly staff member that I was exposed to. I entered the store because I saw a mug that I liked with mathematical equations, and saw a 20% student discount sign on the door. When I brought it up with the saleslady (and mentioned that I went to MIT), she said that the mug is not considered a "student item", and that the discount only applied to things like notebooks, paper, and "things that students use". I pressed and mentioned that students do use mugs, and the sign on the door did not mention "student discount for select items only" - or at least did not mention that it was for select items in a legible format. After about a minute or so, I said - "you know what, usually I would push further to negotiate but that's ok", to which the salesperson told me "We're a small business - we may not even be around in a month for you to negotiate further with". I didn't reply. Then, unprovoked, she said "You're in the wrong country" - to which I said, "Excuse me?". She went on "you're in the wrong country.- we're not in a country like India, where people barter for everything". I looked over at my friend - I was not pushing for something that was unreasonable. The sign at the door said "20% off student discount". That's not bartering - the sign shows false advertising. I said back to her - "I'd just like the mug, thanks". Then upon giving me the receipt - for the $15 mug, mind you - which she said was already discounted (I don't know the validity of that statement), I said that I didn't need a receipt, as I normally do. I manage my finances online (which I didn't feel the need to divulge). She stared at me and then sassily said "Okaaay", drawing out the word - as if in a mocking or judgemental manner. I was extremely off-put by the experience - I thought it was rude, unfair to the customer, her attitude and statements were culturally insensitive, and clearly the advertisement on the door was misleading. Needless to say, I won't be shopping here in the future - nor will I be recommending this location to others. If I could give the shop 0 stars, I would.

Betsy Lenora: I always enjoy coming to University Stationery to stock up on supplies for my store. My favorite thing is knowing that I'm supporting a locally owned and run business and not some big impersonal chain. I shop here even if I might be able to get a better price elsewhere (tho I always get a good price). Gail, Betsy and Barry are almost like family to me. I also enjoy the over-flowing shelves - I can browse and find something unexpected. But I can ALWAYS get what I came in for. It's a fun store with great people.

Ilgin Nas: I have come to HATE shopping at this store because there is always some pricing issue at the register. First, they charged me the price of a 6pack of coke instead of a single coke. It took them 3 tries to understand what I was saying & fix it. Then today, I bought an Advil that was supposed to be $5 off, and it rang up at full price. When I asked Barry on the register why, he said I don’t know and I can’t fix it. All he had to do to confirm was to walk to the isle and check the price tag. Should I take pictures of everything I purchase now? He didn’t even think to call a manager and ask. So frustrating, every time. I hope some Walgreens person is reading this.
Michael: Convenient location but doesn’t carry a lot. Shelves always seem to be half-full.

Charles Li: If only I could give negative star reviews. Never have been to a pharmacy with a prescription order sent 1 hour in advance and still have to wait half a day before the prescription is even "being verified". The medications are very common NSAIDs/pain-relief and anti-bacterial meds and should not take that long normally. Calling does not help because they do not answer any calls. Go to CVS instead..
Eliza Jane: Older store, set up of aisles and pharmacy is kind of awkward. They don't carry a lot of certain items that most other Walgreens do. Example: no prepaid cell phones+, etc.Needs updating and more easily navigated aisles and pharmacy

Lena Mirisola: Scheduled a booster 2 weeks in advance, went to the appointment, pharmacist said they were short staffed and "had lots of prescriptions to fill" and refused to give us our boosters, also citing "the process takes a long time" - for sure, the prep and paperwork for a 5 second shot must be super time consuming! We took work off for this appointment AND the next day, cool cool.CVS across the street is the way to go, always professional, always on time, the only reason I scheduled w/ Walgreens in the first place is because CVS was out of appointments. Don't waste your time :) thanks Walgreens!

Sahana: This is by far the worst Walgreens I’ve been to - very understaffed and the one staff member I spoke to was extremely rude. I asked him a question and he completely dismissed me walking by me as if I hadn’t spoken. When I tried to catch his attention yet again by saying hello he just snapped out an “I can hear you”. I was baffled and upset by his behavior and response - I did not find what I was looking for where he said it would be and I was too anxious to go ask again. I left the store and took my business to the CVS across the road. Avoid this place and go elsewhere if possible.
Katherine Goulden: If they are out of stock of my rx, which is 9/10 times, I never get any notification so I show up for what I need, and end up having to skip days and miss work. When your store and pharmacy are garbage and poorly run it actually affects people’s health and their lives. Running a functioning pharmacy seems too difficult for any chain store n central square.When I had a problem not related to this inexcusable situation the manager was just some teenage boy who did everything in his power not to be helpful/surely get back to his Minecraft game. Badly run all-around.

Day Light: I was paying cash for an item for 5 dollars and the cashier insisted thatI touch the computer screen by the register. I refused since these screensare touched by thousands of people. Then the cashier swore at me and told me I could not buy the item. So you might not want to visit this locationbecause the help is very low end and this store feels like it run by gangs.
Cornell Bentley: Great place to shop. They leave you alone, and the homeless man there even opens the door for you and says "God bless you" even if you do not give him a gift of mercy. The staff is helpful whenever you request anything. I've gone in wearing saccloth (looking a hot mess) and they give me whatever item I want treating me as a person. I go in there with a suit and get treated the same way as i get treated when I look a mess. WE NEED MORE COMPANIES THAT BEHAVE THIS WAY!
Helen Lindsay: This Walgreens has what you need but has been very slow every time I have gone in the past year. I know there are staffing challenges but just be aware. They do not have any self checkout options. There is a FedEx drop off, you just have to ask!

American - Canadian Wrestling Federation: The Walgreens located at the old Woolworth's location is one of my favorite places to shop when I visit Central Square. This Walgreens has a tendency to have a very long line at the checkout yet, their prices are significantly cheaper than CVS across the street ... which has been the case since this Walgreens location first opened in 2001.

Kristina Novak: I love Walgreens and was thinking about switching my meds to this location because it is closer to my home. When I called this pharmacy to find out how many refills I have left on 2 of my medications that I regularly fill with Walgreens the employee I spoke to was completely incapable of answering this simple request. She first said, I am not a Walgreens patient and cannot help me. I asked if she was looking at the central profile to be sure that she could see my med list as Walgreens has a central system. I speak very clear English and she was clearly not familiar with drug names because she was very confused the whole conversation and I take very common medications. If she was confused, she should have asked someone else to assist. I wish I had gotten her name because she was completely incompetent at her job and shouldn't be working with patients.

Michaela Toland: Pharmacy filled my prescription 4 days ago and closed indefinitely the next day without notifying people the whose prescriptions are ready. There are no notices at the pharmacy saying this…literally the bare minimum, easiest thing to do so people don’t keep going back to check. They don’t even know when they’ll have pharmacists, so they should be making this very clear. Google is finally now updated but this has all be absurd.
Jaye Aster Broder: The woman who checked me out on Thursday at the middle register was super pleasant and patient. It’s nice when you feel like the cashier also wants your care card number to go through for discounts. There is parking here. It’s also close to Whole Foods. I think they were under stocked on some things.

Employee got upset when I showed her the online policy clearly stating that stores price match online prices up to once per day per customer. Manager came over and resolved the issue, but refused to price match before reading the policy and telling me some unnecessary things to try to dissuade me from doing the price match.Don’t go to this store. They’re deceptive and will try to take advantage of you following Walgreens standard policies.

Why are you lying? I can clearly see in my phone that I have no missed calls or voicemails. Just own up to the fact that you are incompetent. Poor service. Poor pharmacists. The two middle aged blonde women working in the pharmacy clearly hate their jobs and are miserable. What makes matters worse is they are taking out their frustrations on the patients visiting the pharmacy. Terrible location. Avoid at all costs.

So on top of it of them being unpleasant still trying to assume false claims as well. I am go to call Corporate as well to see if I can report them.

Bill Jia: Came here for COVID and flu vaccines and got them an hour behind schedule. There's only two people at the pharmacy counter and they have to fill all the prescriptions AND do the shots. Great customer service but they are obviously and impossibly overworked. They missed my flu shot the first time around so I had to sit down and wait again. Clearly not the employees' fault; 1 star for business practices.
Josie Emery: Pharmacy staff is completely incompetent. Three times I was called to tell me that my prescriptions were ready for pick up. Every single time they were not ready. In one instance they asked me to return the next day to pick them up. Frustrated, I turned off autofill and started getting my prescriptions mailed to me. For the last 8 months they have been calling me telling my prescription is filled. I have talked to three different people who have confirmed that autofill is turned off and yet they continue to refill it. I just called Walgreens corporate to delete my account so that these constant calls and texts will stop.

Frederick Fox: The customer service has declined consistently for the 11 years I've been going. I would stop in to CVS from time to time for last minute purchases (often when they're open and Walgreen's is closed) and the staff is significantly happier, helpful, respectful, etc. I believe in loyalty and common decency but I feel I'm being treated as if I'm inferior or unimportant. CVS is attentive, respectful, positive, patient, and truly a pleasure to talk to and work with. The gentleman and woman in the pharmacy at my last and final visit were the nail in the coffin. My sister had been singing CVS's praise's for over a decade and now I agree.
Megan Dillon: Worst pharmacy I’ve ever had to deal with. They’ll leave you on hold for 3+ cycles and the employees below the pharmacist do not enunciate their words - they just mumble. They’re always extremely confused and it takes contacting them multiple times for them to magically receive my prescription. Unfortunately it’s not just one employee but every one that I’ve encountered. If this was a one-off I wouldn’t bother mentioning but it’s every time.

Mariah McCarthy: This pharmacy is doing the best that it can under the circumstances. The issue is not the pharmacist (who is wonderful) nor any of the techs. But when you don’t require people to schedule appointments for shots, and the only person who can give the shots is the pharmacist, you set them up for failure. The manager, Jason Robey Baur, needs to hire more qualified staff to accommodate the needs of this pharmacy. I worked at a Walgreens for 5 years, and my manager would have never let his pharmacists nor employees suffer in this way. I just left after picking up a prescription and there were 10 people waiting for a vaccine, and one pharmacist with one SFL working. The absurdity of that statement alone should be enough to motivate the district manager to respond to this crisis. Shameful.
Michaela Toland: This pharmacy is a disaster. I was just told that I needed to be put on hold for 30 minutes so the person at the pharmacy could go give shots (no one else there...again) while, because of them and my insurance messing up, I haven't been able to take my meds for two days now. It is not the first time I have had to deal with something like this, and it is unacceptable. Hire more people and tell the current staff to do better at communicating with insurance/doctors. I am appalled that this person wouldn't even listen to how urgent my issue was before hanging up on me. I have never had these issues at several previous Walgreens.

Thomas Cooper: John,I apologize for the experience you had dealing with our company, and me personally. However I believe you may have misunderstood our phone conversation. I gave some "tentative" prices for a prospective purchase order over the phone for some items that we needed and explained that I could take your other product as a "lot" if there were enough items of value in addition to the obsolete items that were not worth anything to us. When it turned out the QTYs of the obsolete items were much higher than anything of value, it was determined that your order would not be profitable for the company. As the head of Purchasing, it was my duty to ensure that OEM Connect would not lose money buying product that we could not sell. I was as up front about this as I could possibly be. Furthermore, I did offer to purchase the $70 worth of good product if you separated them from the others , but you refused to sell those items unless we also paid you on the high QTYs of valueless items, which greatly outnumbered the items we wanted. Personally, I found this to be an unreasonable request and have never encountered such a thing in all of my time in the industry. We have been in business for 15 years here and have never had such a complaint. However, should you want to do business with us again, I will see to it that you fully understand the parameters of these obsolete toner deals.

Lorraine Alves: Worst pharmacy. Always miss one of my prescriptions forcing me back to wait in the long line multiple times. This is after calling ahead to check that everything is ready and being told yes. Do your job peopleUpdate: once again told prescriptions are ready and they aren't. 3rd trip this week and each time missing something. Also waiting in line and everyone behind the counter is chatting while the line builds. Is management going to address the issues with this pharmacy?
Meg Davis: this walgreens is aggressively understaffed, which, whatever, i get it. i came in for a covid booster (with an appointment), it took 40 minutes even though i was one of two people there. this is all annoying but again, not a big deal!! i’m leaving a review because the person vaccinating me was super weird about the tattoos on my upper arms (which are like, generic nature tattoos) and was telling me that they can’t vaccinate you through tattoos. these are not new tattoos, they weren’t healing, so i don’t know what the concern would have been. i have received many vaccines through these tattoos. also, this isn’t TRUE, except maybe of a pox vaccine, which i wasn’t receiving. Overall this was really off putting and since I assume i’m not the only person with an upper arm tattoo to get a vaccine at this walgreens (lol), i’m passing it on.

Arden B: I wish I could give 0 stars. Grotesque displays of transphobia on multiple occasions from an Asian-American female pharmacist. In front of a crowded line she said she could not give me my medication because my gender marker on insurance didn't match my ID. I tried to explain that was for personal, medical reasons but she refused to give me my prescriptions--loudly talking about my gender where several people surely heard.I call my doctor and she said there was an issue with the prescription...but it had NOTHING to do with my gender marker.I swore to never go back but I had to call about something."I need to refill a prescription. Can I do that here or should my doctor call?"her: "I don't know.""Okay well can I refill my XYZ?"her: "what?""Should my doctor call?"her: "yeah okay.""So my doctor will call to refill XYZ."her: "okay I'll cancel your prescription."And at that point I hung up. Never touched the store, app, or pharmacy again.

She put me on hold after getting the name of the vaccination and just hang up on me after letting me wait minutes long. As it turns out they only do two certain vaccinations now so clearly that woman had no idea what their store is providing.
