Animal Adventures Family Zoo & Rescue Center: what do users think?
Lilly Brody: Came here for the first time and had a lovely experience. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. You can really tell how each one of them so deeply cares for the animals. I will definitely be coming back.

Shelby Conley: Animal Adventures is such a fun place to visit! My family and I did the extreme tour and we had Lisa as our tour guide. She was so patient, knowledgeable, and friendly! She made sure that the whole family felt included, not just the kids! The extreme tour was well worth every cent. Thank you Lisa and Animal Adventures for creating such a memorable experience for my family and I!
Eva Ostrovsky-Kaminsky: We loved it ! The favorite part for my kids was petting and interacting with animalsVisited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes Price for adult entry $16–20 …More

Crystal Williams: Such an amazing experience! I took my two teenagers and we did the pick 6 tour. Our guide was spectacular (wish I could remember her name) she was so informative and nice. We must have spent over 3 hours in total awe!Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes Price for adult entry $16–20 …More

Alexandra Toner: First off, I applaud Animal Adventures for what they're trying to do; to give unwanted or unreleasable animals a home, to educate the public about them, and to give people the chance to interact with some amazing creatures at a reasonable price. And it looks like the animals are well fed and cared for (Soloman the tortise and the spotted pig had QUITE a spread for breakfast). That said, this zoo's facilities leave a LOT to be desired. The website looks great, but it doesn’t make nearly as good a impression in person. The whole place is pretty dingy and sad-looking. Their main building where most of the more exotic animals are housed stinks to high heaven. But the lackluster appearance and smell wouldn't be so bad if the enclosures for some of the animals were better. The kangaroo and wallaby's cages made me very sad in particular; I know it's harder to provide for them in a colder New England climate, but those two deserved much bigger, nicer enclosures! The lemurs, koatis, foxes, and big cats deserve better too. More space and a bit more resemblance to their natural habitats.I heard one of the staff members mention that the rescue was hoping/planning to open a second location with more room. I sincerely hope this becomes a reality! Again, I applaud this rescue's mission, I just think it could be executed better for the animals.
Roxy W: There is a Zoo Church there. Very religious founders who use their animal shows to preach scriptures. For some this is a good thing. For many others this means you are not welcome there, mainly LGBTQ people and families. Look up Charis and you'll find a video of their story, judge for yourself.

Catherine The Black: Such an amazing day!! The guide for our "Extreme Tour" was so knowledgeable and fun. The $75pp for 2 hours was 100% worth it - my 12 y.o. and I had the best time! Leslie Rap: We did the "my first tour", and it was absolutely worth it. Its was $25 each. A private tour for our 3 yr old, the tour guide was super nice and let our son pet a bunch of animals. It's a great thing they are doing for rescue animals.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes Price for adult entry $21–30 …More
Nick Wheeler: Did the "Extreme Tour." Really cool experience with very knowledgeable staff and the upgraded price for the personal tour was worth every penny. Got to meet and interact with several of their animals up close. This is genuinely a better experience than any of the zoo offerings in New England.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …More
Catherine Cooper: The size of the sanctuary is very deceiving. We were surprised by the variety of animals. Our Zookeeper/guide was wonderful. She walked us all around to visit all the animal exhibits. She was very knowledgeable about each and every animal and their history/story. She was able to answer all of our questions (we had a lot) and was amazing with the animals. We were really impressed with her alligator-wrangling skills! You can tell these folks take really good care of the animals and paying the extra bucks to be able to interact/hold them is so worth it. We look forward to going again. Our favorites among our group of five people were: porcupines/lynx/owls/alligators/chinchillas - never thought we would ever pet a porcupine ❤️😀
Peter Roy: Brought my two girls here (6&8) during school conference day. We had an amazing experience seeing and learning about all the different animals. Much more intimate and hands on than other options. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.Special shout out to Brian who passionately showed us all the animals he has helped care for, as well as letting us meet a little toucan and armadillo!
Matt MacDonald: This was a little Gem of a place. Took a two girls, one was 4 the other is 1+. We booked the 30 minute first tour and was was perfect for a 4 year old. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable so I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get close to the animals and learn.
Amanda Lavigueur: I think the mission of this place is very respectable and appreciate what they are trying to do. I realize budgets of rescues are often tight and they might have had to take in animals they didn’t really have space for-my star rating aims to take that into account because I would like to continue to see them rescue animals others can’t take in. I look forward to the larger facility they mentioned. However, the husbandry is not adequate for many of the animals. For example, 3 Argentine tegus in what looked like a 6x2 ft enclosure when one needs 8x 4 x 4 ft of space. Lots of cohabbed lizards and ducks when aggression of males toward females (and general cagemate aggression/dominance in lizards) tends to make this not ideal. No improvised swimming area that I saw for natural duck behavior (the rescue I volunteered at used kiddie pools). Leopard gecko and tortoises with no UV. UV coils which are controversial (at best, they only emit UV over a small area) as the staple UV source for enclosures that had it; sometimes several animals sharing one coil. Kookaburra in a small cage when it requires a large aviary. Kangaroos in relatively small pens. Education session was good but no mention of husbandry requirements for animals and why you might NOT want one as a pet (why some end up at rescue). Petting of animals that don’t enjoy handling by 20 people instead of teaching about animals’ comfort boundaries (“this ferret enjoys petting, but handling is stressful for the chinchilla so let’s skip that for this animal”). Given it’s such a public display with a “rescue” label, people use this as a model and think 3 bearded dragons in an enclosure with a coil UV is likely a decent setup etc. Rescues are in a unique position to educate the public about husbandry, personality, and the intensive requirements of certain species/why they might not be a good fit for many people. If there is enrichment happening outside of enclosures, I’d recommend posting signs about this to educate on the needs of the species. Likely unintentionally, I feel this rescue is falling short here.
Terence Young: They are a family ran sanctuary. The volunteers are kind and knowledgeable. I've brought several visiting family there as its such a wonderful place. They deserve such recognition for all the wonderful work they do.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry $16–20 …More

The food we had (chicken fingers, hot dogs, and fries) was great. All of the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! We've had a Zoo New England membership for years now, and it's worth the investment. No wait to get in. Discounts inside. Etc.
Rachel Peranzi: This zoo is the perfect size to wander for an hour or so with a toddler. Everything, including the bathrooms, was super clean. Pat Glynn: This is a small space on rte 4 that many use for fishing. Unfortunately it is not maintained. The house on the edge has small engines, debris and junk along the edge of the water. How is this allowed? Conservation does not seem to care to enforce epa standards.

Benson Park: what do users think?
Tim Carter: What a wonderful family place. It was an old zoo with a rich history. It's a great place to walk. Paved pathways are abundant. Lots of trees, picnic tables in the shade and benches galore. I'll be back to do outdoor amateur radio.Dog-friendliness: There's a dog park and you can walk your dog on a leash within the park.
Dana Sion: So much history combined with nature in a charming welcoming enviroment especially the friendly folks at the park store that's open every Friday Saturday and Sunday noon-4pmRestrooms: Public restrooms are located behind the historic Gorilla House building next to the big playground. The public bathroom has a family/accessable bathroom in it and a woman's and men's bathrooms inside on either side. The bathrooms are open April until October.
Trish Nadeau: Very cool place!
Linda Puleo: First time to this park. It was clean and the playground area is big and very nice for kids of all ages.
Adam Four: Hands down, my favorite outdoor place to visit with the family.
Thomas Smith: Nice hiking trails with grandkids
Robert Siebert: Very nice walking trails and we'll maintained
Jack Vachon: Great trails for wildlife and bird watching, or just to get your steps in for the day. The main area of the park is always very clean and the dog park is pleasant as well. Great spot to spend an afternoon! Wildlife blinds are available too!
Jordan B: On the nicer days the children's playground can be a little crowded but only because it's such an awesome place to be. They have a separate dog park. And between the playground, the trails, all the old stuff from when it used to be Benson's animal farm there is so much to explore and see! Restrooms don't open until April though!
Sarah Unknown: Always love coming here for either short or long walks
james peruta: Nick place for a walk
Donna Ertsgard: Restrooms: No restrooms this time of year.
Doug Taylor: Great place for a walk and a talk.
don schwartz: Dog-friendliness: Great dog park and also trails
John Drake: I’m old enough to remember this being a zoo my parents could never take me to. Now that it’s long closed as a zoo, it remains as a really nice public park. It’s paths are a great, friendly, safe place for a family walk. It has a busy playground and children and dogs are all around.
Andrew Lorentzen: Epic
Руслан Любиченко: Супер гарний парк
Barb: Love this place - even in winter it's still nice to get a good walk in with the dog.
Leslie Tan: A great throwback to when the park was in its Glory Years. Some cages are still intact. Hiking paths are clearly marked.Don't forget the 9/11 Memorial..
Arthur Levene: A great place for kids to run around safely. Many walking trails.Restrooms: Limited to a port a potty during the winter months.
Nick Kaplan: I remembered this place as a zoo when I was growing up. Unkown to me, now it's a public park. I was surprised but it's amazing, they did very well. The kids loved the playground and had lots of fun.
