He took care of every single detail even details that actually he didn’t have to do. Such as calling ahead the owner of the restaurant to meet with me before they opened and calling them on the day of the funeral to ask them to set up a TV to play our slide show. We had a very detailed funeral with a wake viewing of the body, mass, veteran honors, bagpipes at funeral home & church and at later date cremation and another service at a national veterans cemetery down the Cape. He took great care in every single aspect!!!Also I must mention the Funeral Home itself is absolutely beautiful. The viewing room is a fresh and new addition with huge windows to let in the light. All the people who attended remarked on how nice it was!!Our Family is so pleased that we were able to have such a wonderful experience at the end for our loved one!!! I called a handful. The first few that picked up the phone were extremely cold and focused on business. They didn't express sympathy or give any words of comfort. It only added to my pain.When I called O'Donnells, it was completely different. Anthony answered the phone and I'll never forget his comforting words and warm energy. He shared his story about losing his father with me. He walked me through every step of planning and asked after each sensitive question, "is it okay to keep going?". He answered every single question I had and went into deep detail for each explanation. He even ended the phone call with words of support.When I met Anthony in-person, it was the same way. He is patient, comforting, light, and even humorous (which I think is needed in times of pain - Laughter is the best form of medicine). He listens wholeheartedly as you talk about your loved one. In time of pain, grief, and fear, you feel like he is holding your hand through the process. Anthony and his team took all of our stories and descriptions about my mother and customized the services so beautifully. All who attended my mother's services said it was, and I quote, "the most beautiful service they had ever been to". They also work with you and your budget to make sure it is affordable for you. They don't try and upsell or make you buy the most expensive options, or anything. They center the conversation around making it feel special for you and honoring your loved one.I was terrified that my mother wasn't going to look like herself. This team blew away my expectations. When I saw my mother, though it was the most painful experience of my life seeing her in a casket, she looked beautiful. They got her lipstick perfectly right. They styled her wig just like she styled it. She was even holding a white rose in her hand on the second day, one of her favorite flowers.My mother's services were exactly what she would have wanted. O'Donnells went above and beyond to not only comfort us as a family but to make sure that my mom was honored and celebrated in the way she so deeply deserved. Their home in Salem is also beautiful and you have the whole home to yourself, making it much more personal. I was able to take breaks and go upstairs when I was overwhelmed.Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to Anthony and the entire O'Donnells team, for your incredible services and support. I cannot imagine how difficult your profession is... you all do it with such grace.
