Chelmsford Fireplace Center: what do users think?
Art Maravelis: We have purchased two fireplace units from them.Their customer service is exceptional- we could not be happier with our units and their service! Highly Highly Recommend them!
Blaine Stuart: I came in looking for wood fireplace inserts. They had a good selection and people who could answer my questions. Looks like I'll be making an order, so all good.
Rebecca Stone: We couldn't be happier with the service we received, from the in-store support to the recommended installation professional. We wanted to do something with our non-functional fireplace, which would be very costly to repair as well as inconvenient for us to use. We considered a wood-burning insert but did not have the necessary clearance with our current mantel, so we went with gas. This option was more affordable than the full chimney repair, looks amazing, AND is ridiculously easy to use. It heats our living room in minutes! We absolutely love it and wish we had done it years ago.
Rob V: Our tech today was very nice, and also helpful in explaining basic functionality to someone who never had a fireplace before.
Tank Junior Racing: I grew up in Chelmsford. When ever it was time to get a grill you just went local to Chelmsford Fireplace center on Summer street. This place is still first class from what I remember as a kid. I grew up playing baseball with the owners son. About 15 years ago I replaced my Dads 20 plus year old grill with Ducane. He still has it. Ten years ago I bought a weber Q just got the bigger one for our camper last year. My camp has a Weber and last weekend I just bought a new Weber genesis 2 all stainless for the homestead. I cannot express how fantastic the staff is here. Don't go to the box stores get your grill local . I am a loyal customer for life.
Marcos Caro: Very knowledgeable and helpful. Looking forward to completing our installation.
george doble: We purchased a Mendota fireplace, had it installed by their recommended installer(who handled everything, permit, vents, etc). We are VERY HAPPY with everything -it was installed three years ago.We had one installed in our place at the Cape, by another store on the cape, as Chelmsford does sell to Cape; had a foul smell since it was installed. Called Chelmsford, explained our issue, the man we spoke to spent time listening to our problem, he explained that the smell was due to dust & we just needed to burn it on high for 3 hours , both burners, and fan on low when it is not used during the summer. Well, that fixed the problem, today we are again using our fireplace and no smell.Thank you for your time and expertise, you people deserve a BIG thank you.We tell all our friends what great service we receive from you.Judy & George Doble
EMMANUEL VARGAS: Very friendly and customer service was beyond. Way better service, friendlier and cheaper than going to the Stove Shoppe which was my first visit. Glad I visited Chelmsford Fireplace center. I recommend.
Nancy Skoog: Our relatively new gas fireplace wouldn't start this fall, so we called the Chelmsford Fireplace Center to get someone to come out and look at it. The repairman, Will, was meticulous about wearing a mask, and he removed his shoes prior to entering our basement family room. He carefully spread out a drop cloth to keep the area clean, and he was polite, prompt, knowledgeable, and very professional and pleasant. Will determined that the generator we had installed last summer - about two years after the installation of the Chelmsford Fireplace Center gas fireplace - likely caused the problem. The furnace, the gas fireplace, and the generator were all hooked into the same gas line. So, Will carefully tweaked the burner settings and the position of the fireplace "logs" to maximize the gas flow, and the fireplace now works better than it ever had. The room warms up quickly, and the gas fireplace looks appealing, works well, and throws out ample heat. We are simply delighted! I highly recommend Chelmsford Fireplace Center.
Kirsten Galambos: Best service! We bought a house and the previous owner had a gas fireplace installed by them, but it was neglected. Chelmsford fireplace came out and serviced it and made it look and work like new. Very professional and went above and beyond what I expected for an extremely fair price.
John Wise: Very happy with my gas fireplace insert. Ziggy was helpful in selecting a model at the store. The installation went well. I had a little issue with the blower fan. Ziggy and Joe, the service tech, promptly resolved the problem. Joe was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Andrew Bates: Very helpful staff and a large selection of display units.
Bryan Coulombe: Love the food off the Green Mountain Grill! The staff exceeded my customer service expectations!
steve madden: Rude. There are many other stores in the area that serve the same purpose, these people will never get my money
Ron P: Great experience shopping for woodstoves. Ask for the salesperson named Cam...he was fantastic.
Dennis Daly: Extremly Pleased and a little disappointed.Store personnel were definitely quality level of service. If your looking for information or service. The customer service was superlative. Unfortunately they dont carry pellet stoves anymore. I burn pellets because the home I purchased has a Harmon pellet stove. What more could I say
Brackett Tucker: My wife and I purchased a Mendota gas fireplace insert in August, and it was installed in early September. The installer was Templeton Plumbing and Heating of Groton MA, and this company did an excellent job. They subcontracted out the removal of the existing woodstove and stainless steel chimney liner, and installation of the new liner. This all went fine except the subcontractor poked a two-inch hole through screen on my front door while removing the stove. He offered money, but I said (rightly, in my opinion) that I didn't want money, I just wanted the screen fixed. Skipping the details, it tooks weeks to get the screen repaired, and ultimately the main contractor took the problem under his own control and got it fixed. As for the fireplace, it looked (and still does look) absolutely spectacular. This Mendota is fairly small due to the size of the fireplace opening, and has the "birch log" package with front and back burners. A day after installation, we noticed that the natural gas burners would go out occasionally, then re-light after a few seconds. This happened repeatedly, and we sought resolution from Chelmsford Fireplace Center. Bruce, an experienced professional in the gas utility business and the lead technician for CFC, came to the house and discovered that the sensor next to the pilot was "slightly bent". As the stove heated up, the effect of the heat on the metal caused the distance from the pilot to increase, triggering a shut-off. As it cooled, the gas would come back on. Well, I could never have figured that out--but he did, and quickly. Since then, the gas fireplace insert has been working perfectly, we have received many compliments, and the heat it generates is fantastic. We are thrilled with the result, although it was a rocky road there for a while. I would highly recommend both Chelmsford Fireplace Center and their preferred installer, Templeton Plumbing and Heating, if you want a thorough and informative sales experience for generally upscale gas fireplace inserts (thanks, Mark!), people who show up on time and do their work with expertise and confidence, and stand by the results until you are 110% satisfied.
Dodie Myra: So helpful ro me. I had a lot of questions and he was very patient, answered them all.
Somewhat Local: They saved a wedding! So here's the story. Client of mine has a fire pit we installed 3 years ago. They are having 300 plus person wedding. Fir pit is off of pool and is the key point of gathering at night. Heat element filament broke yesterday. I guess they dont last long in salt environment. So I call hpc people we bought the pit from not the best of help. Called everyone I could got nothing. Google some more found this place. They said they had it, knew the pit we had. Email a pic at night to make sure as it was a long drive, emailed me back 1 minute after they opened the next morning that they have it. Drove down they walked me through the install of the part friendly chat and on my way. I will drive and call them from now on I dont care if there are other stores closer. They have parts in stock, knowledge of what they sell, and great communication. Thank you
Cathy Gibson: Very helpful and knowledgeable
Matt Stafford: Incredibly focused staff very nice displays and plenty of experience.

Hearth Works Fireplace Center Inc.: what do users think?
David Pease: I love these guys! I had some pellet bags that were damaged during manufacturing and were water damaged. After burning 5 tons I had ten bags with saw dust. Brought them back and he gladly swapped them for ten new bags. These people are dedicated, knowledgeable and professional with the customer and customer service at the top of their priorities.
Elizabeth Mitchell: I had an amazing experience with this company, from start to finish. They were informative, accommodating, and were 2.5k more affordable then a competitor. I'm looking forward to using them again to install a second pellet stove in my addition. I have worked with other pellet stove companies in the past, and this company went out of their way to ensure every step, from purchase to installation, was smooth.
Jerson Depena: Very professional crew, helpful and knowledgable on how to operate and vent my system. Received a fantastic deal/service on my new Harman Allure50.
So Journer: I have nothing but praise and admiration for Hearthworks of North Reading and the owner Kaala , along with her aide Michael. From the presentation of various wood burning insert options to my selection and actual purchase and installation, I found them forthright, even to their own deficit, patient and understanding. I am 80 years old , hard of hearing, and with short term memory issues, so most of our conversations needed to be repeated a few times. Never did I detect annoyance from them.I have tested my Napoleon Oakdale insert and it functions exactly as they said it would. I am hoping for cold weather SOON.I heartily recommend Hearthworks and their astounding staff for their honesty, fair pricing, patience, and knowledge. You can't go wrong with working with Hearthworks of North Reading.
David Jackson: Michael went above and beyond to help me resolve the issue with my fireplace. Thank you for your help! Stay Safe and Warm!
Linda Baker: Packed with anything fireplace fireplace stove or grill related.
Mike Bergeron: Hearth Works Fireplace Center has been in business for over 25 years. We are staffed with knowledgeable, professional and friendly employees. We strive to provide you with the most accurate and up to date information available regarding your fireplace or stove project. You will always be greeted with a smile when you walk in the door at Hearth Works Fireplace Center in North Reading. If you have a problem with anything as it relates to us please feel free to reach out to any of us. We have thousands of happy customers each and every year!Mike Bergeron, Store Manager
william snell: Very poor customer service following the sale and install. Enviro unit is less than 2 years old and already having issues. Every time i call them they redirect me to a field technician who does their servicing. They have yet to return a call in over a month.
John Hedman: We had bought our pellet stove from Hearthworks and gas recently gotten our first service/cleaning done by their service outfit. From sale, to follow up, to service, everyone was knowledgeable and friendly! Scheduling was easy and the service men were professional and friendly. Would recommend buying at Hearthworks any time!
Miguel Torres: For the first time I write a review. I feel like I got scammed! I scheduled a service for my stove. Beware that most of the service is just a simple vacuum of the unit not much else. When I called in to ask the price of an annual service I was quoted 189. When I ask why was I just charged 219 for the service all she could say is that it probably went up. "Probably". When I asked to speak with someone who may know the actual cost of the service I was told I was speaking with the person. The service is contracted. The contractor informed me that he had to charge me the Hearth Work price. Hearthwork claims that it was the contractors price. I guess the price is dependent on how they feel. Moreover, there was an additional fee for location which increase the amount. Another charge that was never mentioned or made clear to the customer.I was charged whatever the contractor felt like charging at the time. When I called in to speak with someone I was informed that I would be blacklisted! LOL!!Again I have never wrote a review but when I allow someone into my house I am not expecting to get scammed. I could have vacuumed my stove myself and saved Hearth Work time black listing customer who question their services.
John Warden: My wife and I purchased a gas insert fireplace from Hearthworks in North Reading. The experience starting off was perfectly fine, although a bit challenging due to COVID and trying to time the order with our construction. We gave the store manager, Michael, a budget and the type of fireplace we wanted and he provided us a package (you have to buy a ton of parts and other kits – the fireplace doesn’t just come all together) which we agreed to. Fast forward a few weeks when we were ready for the fireplace and we get told they don’t have this model in stock even though we placed the order weeks in advance. We then had to scramble to come up with a new fireplace order that could actually be received in time and while Michael assured us the unit would have similar functionality, we ended up paying $500-$600 more for this unit because certain parts had to be ordered separately – he refused to let us pay the same price as the original unit we ordered. Additionally, he did not include a metal cap for our chimney, which he knew we would need, which ended up costing another $400 plus the cost of having the installers come back out to the property. One of the worst parts of the customer experience when getting a fireplace from Hearthworks is their subbing out of the install of the actual fireplace. We were only offered one installer (Spinosa Maintenance) and had a terrible experience with them (I have posted another separate review for this company). When we tried to contact Hearthworks about the various issues we were having with the installation they tried to distance themselves from the installer claiming the companies were not connected even though this is the only company they offered to install our fireplace!! It’s just a bad customer experience. They sell you a fireplace and then do absolutely nothing to help make sure your fireplace is installed and working correctly. It’s terrible customer service. If I ever buy another fireplace again it will not be from this company and I recommend others stay away as well.
sean oconnor: Not impressed with installation crew. Very unorganized, bickering and unsure of what was required for proper installation. Went with wood insert for efficiency and safety and have concerns if installed properly. Crew came out month before to inspect fireplace and chimney and still were unprepared. Definitely would recommend another retailer and installer for money spent.
Michael Del: THIS IS WORST RETAIL STORE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. This place sold me a defective product, and I had to pay for it to get fixed!I waited 6 weeks for a lawnmower, that I was told would arrive in 10-12 business days. After finally receiving the mower, chain snapped off the drive train upon starting.I was charged $70 to fix this! The kid, Mike , who appears to be in charge , is a completely smug millennial who told me he was “taking care of me” by not charging $150!!!.You try to support a local business, and this is what happens.STAY FAR , FARAWAY from Hearthworks.
Karen Yorgy: We purchased a gas stove and insert from Hearth Works and recommend the store highly. Michael is extremely knowledgeable and helped us throughout the process. It is a pleasure to visit the North Reading showroom; so much great eye candy. Thanks Hearth Works!
Jesse Reynolds: A great local business that takes care of their own. Great customer service. I recently came into need of some pallets and they were nice enough to give me 4 good quality ones for free. If I am ever in need of things they carry, will call them first... So should you.
Mark Allard: We recently did a makeover of our fireplace and ordered a fireplace door through Hearth Works in North Reading. The selection was amazing and the service was great. The door arrived on schedule and I was able to install the door myself. It looks fantastic and is very well made. Very pleased!Mark from Tewksbury.
Dave Mulik: Very knowledgeable. Great selection. Mike was great
Louise Keogh Weed: Had a really good experience with Hearth Works. Extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive staff. We bought a gorgeous stove and love it. I even sent my parents to buy their new stove there!
Craig Duffy: Purchased an Enviro gas fireplace from Hearthworks North Reading; Michael recommended the unit after I explained the specifics of what we were looking for. Price was good and in-line with other fireplace dealers. Only hiccup I had was that the installers seemed to take a little longer than I would have liked to schedule installation, but once they did, they were quick, courteous and friendly and made sure I knew how to operate the unit after they left. I don't expect to be in the market for another fireplace unit anytime soon, but wouldn't hesitate to return to Hearthworks!
Larry Proulx: Purchased Vermont Castings gas stove which was a perfect fit for former gas fireplace location which was no longer functional. Excellent product, with 200 lb of cast iron which lives up to product name. Will last forever!Michael was completely knowledgeable about his products, and quick to provide accurate, detailed answers to my questions. He readily sorted through the maze of possible venting solutions and provided all the required bits and pieces to make the installation work. The showroom is very impressive, with many stove products on display, with a number of them able to be fired up and demonstrated. All in all, this is testimony to why one should buy from a local small business. They have the product knowledge and know-how to make the purchase a pleasure.
Tammy Betourney Smith: I had nothing but the best experience with Hearth Works from the moment I walked through the doors to the completion of my project. I was greeted with a friendly voice and a smile. Their showroom is stunning. It is full of so many different products, with so many different options; fireplaces, outdoor furniture, fire pits, pellets and accessories. It is very clean and well taken care of.The store manager, Michael, was very professional and knowledgeable in all the products. He didn't try to talk me into something I didn't need. He listened and guided me through my purchase. My procrastination led me to make my purchase right before I needed it and I am sure it was in the height of their busy time. The delivery timeframe was straight forward and they did not disappoint. Kayla/Kalaa was responsive and helpful with the status of my with my order. She went out of her way to check with the home office that it had been shipped and assured me she would let me know when it was received....and she followed through. The installers they used were skilled, clean and they even showed us all the ins and outs on how to operate out unit.I am extremely happy with my purchase and the service I received. I would highly recommend Michael and Hearth Works to everyone that is need of any fireplace needs or any of the products they offer. Not only the people were wonderful but their prices are great too!

Woodstove Fireplace & Patio Shop: what do users think?
Vinnie Penella: Our Vermont Casting stove was deemed unrepairable by two other service people. Jake from your service department came by and fix it in a jiffy and the stove is like brand new. So grateful to Jake and your company for this fix. Got us through this subzero weekend with no problems. Great to have you in our neighborhood. 👍👍
Dan Sierra: Bought a $10k fireplace from them and the problems began at installation. They sent 2 guys and neighter knew what they were doing and seemed perplexed during the install. Of course it didn't work properly and I had to chase them for weeks trying to get them to resolve it. They don't answer the phone in the store, they don't return calls. It wasn't until I disputed the install charge on my credit card that they finally got back to me to set up a time to come to home to properly install it. This was more than 6 weeks after the original installation of calls and emails with very little interest in getting back to me. The new guy did get it working but was complaining that it was so far from his home even though I was assured more than once it would be no probelm to service it at my home in RI. I did release the dispute was it was working and they got the install charge covered. Then the next problem arose a number of months later and I had the same experience reaching anyone. When I did the owner made me go through several steps in proving to him that I had released the dispute. The credit card company provided the documentation showing the money was released to him and he has used this as an excuse not to follow up and fix the fireplace. This new process has been going on for over 10 weeks. So buyer beware, they are not a professional place to do business with if you have problems and expect professional follow up, and the store to stand behind their promises.
Phyllis Prestileo: The person, Jake Gagnon, who has come to service our 2 gas fireplaces yearly does an excellent job. He is pleasant, answers any questions and is very efficient. He gets 5 stars.
Michelle McDermott: Service dept excellent. Pat was amazing and very helpful. Explained everything. Thank you Pat
Samuel L Webb II: After visiting three other fireplace shops we found the very best at Chelmsford Fireplace Center! Corey was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and was able to not only sell us a great Napoleon, along with all venting pipe and fasteners as well as one of hers installers name and number. We left store with our new fireplace and Steve came and installed it 2 weeks later!
Harley Baker: We had a tremendous experience working with the people at Woodstove Fireplace & Patio Shop in Littleton, MA. They made the process of selecting and installing our gas fireplace insert a breeze and we are so happy with the results. The sales team was very patient with us and answered all of the questions we had about the products and the process, ensuring we had the right fit for our home. The installation team was equally awesome as they were efficient and professional throughout the process. Everything looks great and we are ready to enjoy our new fireplace as the days become colder. We couldn’t be happier or recommend this company any higher. Thank you!
Norma Mahoney: Jake, techician, quickly diagnosed and fixed Heat N Glo fireplace remote issue replacing with new receiver and remote. To all who formerly used Chelmsford Fireplace Shop for Hear N Glo,, be confident in using Woodstove and Fireplace Shop as authorized vendor.
Julianna Hanscom: Had annual cleaning and firepot replacement. Appointment was easy to make, they came on time, did what needed to be done and cleaned up afterwards. Really nice guys and followed up after with an additional part that was on back order to complete the job. Highly recommend them and will use them again in the future when needed.
Rick N: Jake did the annual service on our gas fireplace. He did an excellent job. I have always had good service from the Woodstove Fireplace & Patio Shop. The gas fireplace was installed by them in 2016.
Joe F: Barry's crew installed a Pioneer III in our new addition. Installation was smooth and the crew was very helpful answering any questions I had. Can't wait to have the house finished and really enjoy this insert next winter! I will try to add an updated picture with the addition is finished.
Sumit Kumar: Great Experience! I requested service for fireplace. Jake was really knowledgeable and finished the service very efficiently. I will definitely recommend this place. The prices are fair.
Jim Rosato: Jake did a great job today getting my nonfunctional gas fireplace up and running again! He was on time and cleaned up after finishing. I highly recommend Woodstove Fireplace & Patio Shop.
Danielle Dunn: Very prompt and efficient pellet stove service. Addressed may questions due to my lack of experience with pellet stoves and cleaned up after completion. Highly recommend.
Tom Merchant: After installing a improperly functioning pellet stove they have been no help. They do not return phone calls or emails. This has been going on for over a year.
Arlene Onorato: Pat in the service department has been so helpful. He has answered all of my questions and is very knowledgeable. Thank you.
Nola Bola: Wow business must be good for this place. Came in the store, no one there except someone at the counter. He offered no help not even a hello. I left, I can’t believe I spent the time to drive to this place. What a waste of time
pond art: Pat, Manager of the Service Dept, is easy to work with, very knowledgeable about the equipment they service and has a good working knowledge of stoves and fireplaces in general. He trouble shoots problems easily. Any vendor Woodstove Fireplace & Patio Shop recommends can be depended upon to be as top notch as they are.
Tom Hill: I just had Littleton Woodstove & Fireplace install a gas insert into my existing wood fireplace. From visiting the showroom through the purchase and completion of the work we were very satisfied. The crew was great in how they conducted themselves in our home and the quality of the work they did. I would highly recommend this shop!
Roger E Styles: High quality products and sincere staff and management.. They want you as a long term client.
Dale Graessle: Picked up the part I'd requested for my pellet stove. Timely service.
Jerry Casey: Outstanding products on display and comptent sales lady that really knew and understood the products she represented.

Yankee Fireplace Grill & Patio: what do users think?
Barry Botman: Requested a service check of fireplace insert assembly purchased from Yankee. Tech did assessment and said company would get back to us with a quote for repair. It's been 10 days later and have not received any communication from Yankee.
Anthony Crescimano: We are so happy with our new Heat and Glo gas fireplace. Everyone from Yankee Fireplace and Grill were excellent to work with. The initial consultation through the final installation proved to be easy and painless.
Ed Kiszka: Kevin was very thorough and very knowledgeable. He was very willing to explain things being done. Very professional and friendly.
Erika Richards: The service tech was friendly, and careful to be clean, but did not fix the problem. He was responsive when we called back after he left. He told us it was electrical so I called the electrician who came and diagnosed it is a build up in the embers falling through to the bottom fire box and that by insolating the sensor from the heat, prevents it from turning on the fan. Both the sensor and fan work along with the electric system. I hope Yankee will reimburse us for the visit or come back and fix it.
myles greenway: Awesome customer service!
Denise Long: Excellent gas fireplace service and communication.
Bob Irzyk: I was impressed with the professionalism, knowledge and willingness to work with me.Thank you
David McMahon: Excellent.very pleased with the cleaning of my propane stove.will use them in the future
Bob Jamison: Our technician was very knowledgeable. He cleaned and tested our Heat N Glo gas insert for our starter issues. We are very pleased and will call on Yankee Fireplace again.
Jennifer Balzano: Excellent service. Very pleased.
Jeanne Gose: Nice job but very expensive
michael chille: Yankee fireplace came during their set time for the appointment. The Technician was prepared, knowledgeable of my request. Installed the part quickly and cleaned up the work area as if nothing was done. Thank you
Andrew Ward: They were great from start to finish. They helped walk me through mantle and door options for my new fireplace. They came to my house to measure the space for the doors and kept me posted on updates as the items were built and came in.The technician did an awesome job installing the mantle and doors and was very quick, thorough, and professional. He even helped put in an anchor screw above the mantle so we could hang a sign.I highly recommend Yankee Fireplace and will be going back in the future if I ever need anything else.
Mike Swartz: Sales process was slow and frustrating, poor communication and aloof staff. Installers were fantastic though and product works and looks great.
Suzanne Sullivan: Exceptional customer service and outstanding service.Suzan Acosta
Merrill Kohlhofer: Our experience has been completely different as we try to set up routine maintenance to allow us to use our ggvas fireplace again. Left a message through their website, got no response. Tried to call them, no way to talk to a live person, got directed to leave a message through the website did that again, again no response at all. Now trying to find someone else to provide service.
Judith: They found and installed glass for my stove that other stores could not find. Lauren in Customer Service made the process easy. She was professional and very kind. Technician who installed glass was efficient and great. Cannot recommend Yankee Fireplace highly enough.
Brian Ward: Meticulous attention to all details from customer service through tech service. A well-run outfit and a pleasure to deal with.
Paul Passeri: Technician diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and then made the repair to our propane fireplace. Very pleased with the process.
Charles Allen: Technician was expert and fixed my heat 'n glow fire stove. Very thorough and cleaned the fireplace inside, vent, and even the glass!
James Picone: Our gas fireplace flame height was extremely low so I called a company on Rt. 1 in Peabody for a service call. The technician arrived and informed me the gas flame was fine and no adjustment could be made and nonewas needed. He then handed me a bill for $65 just for looking at the flame. After hardly using the fireplace for the past year, I called Yankee Fireplace and scheduled a service call. When the Yankee Fireplace tech looked at the flame height, he something is not right and he quickly removed the glass cover, removed the logs, and turned on the gas flame. Within 5 minutes he informed me that a spider had made a home in the gas line which restricted the gas feeding the fireplace. He removed the spider web, cleaned the fireplace, washed the glass, and tested the flame height. His adjustment made the flame height exactly where we expected to be. The fireplace now works perfectly. The technician was prompt, he cleaned everything, and left our house within 30 minutes. He did a remarkable job. I recommend Yankee Fireplace without hesitation.
