Kelly Jones Sr.: Manager Joanne was extremely rude and disrespectful. Refused to change a table we noticed was broken while we were setting up, insisting that it was okay, only to have it fall over during our reception, breaking an expensive center piece.Promised we could set up the day before our event. A few days before the event I called with a time I would be there to set up the day before the event. She said she booked it so we couldn’t come in until later the evening. I asked her what time. She said 9pm. I called the day of setup, she changed the time to 9:30. Me and my crew arrived at 9:30pm, and the people who booked the place were just getting started!She promised she would meet me there at 9:30, but of course when I tried to call her to see what was going on, she didn’t answer or show up at 9:30. Me and my crew waited till almost midnight before we could begin setting up for our function.She continued to deflect the blame and talk over me. I went along because we had no other choice at the time. We made the best of our time there but as long as she (Joanne) is there, I will never go back there, and I do not recommend this place as long as she is there.
Ana Cotto: Very nice place. Very spacious and a lot of parking. The manager (Joann) was nice at the beginning when we met to rent hall and during the beginning of decorations, but later during the decorations, catering and party her actions and words were very unacceptable. It seems like she watched every move we made. Commented that my guest were slobs because there was a little bit of rice on the tables. Was rude to the Dj and caterers. Quoted me 1 price but charged another. Pretty much rushed us out even though I was supposed to have the hall till eleven, when I started to just clean one table the next thing I see her (Joann) and the bartender cleaning and stripping the other tables without my consent plus it wasn’t even 10pm. Bartender closed bar an 1 hour earlier. Manager (Joann) Tried moving my Dj and tables without asking Me. For such a nice and pricey location the manager (Joann) is very micromanaging and her comments were rude. My guests loved the place but didn’t like her behavior.. I’ve rented venues before and never had someone watch us or treat us like if we were 5 year olds. Sorry but you could of had more potential renters but after they experienced her behavior they weren’t interested any longer. I think that I should receive at least my deposit back for all my troubles plus I was given one price and asked for a deposit but when I questioned her she said it was part of the price. I hope to hear back from the owner. Thank you

Shereese: I emailed this facility to inquire about hosting an event with them and requested additional information regarding their establishment. Was very polite, and gave them a date I was interested in. They responded with "this date is taken". Nothing else.They weren't interested in giving me anymore info about their services, nor did they ask if another date would work, they simply did not want my business.

MonaLisa Leung Beckford: We throw my mom a surprise birthday party here. We booked the place one week in advanced (we were so lucky to have found a place so last minute). A married couple runs this place and they were very kind and helpful with setting up the place and help with the music. This place is also cheaper than other banquet halls out there. We paid less than $500 to rent the place, use their audio equipment and purchase their drinks. The place can hold up to 90 people and it's on a main street with parking on the back. Please be mindful you can't bring your own drinks (water or soda) into this place but you can bring your own food. We had a catering company bring food in and my aunt cooked and brought food. Overall, we are very happy to have hosted the party here!

a burton: Horrible experience nickel and dime for everything. Elegant but dated decor. No package deals for drinks or beverages. Slim pitcher of soda $12 each ,chair covers table cloths not added in the price of hall rental. $500 for hall $100 for chair cover $100 for table covers Most expensive rental in spfld area. The staff sat and watched us like hawks at the bar. My guests stated they were uncomfortable. Owners are married couple she's sweet and he swears his prices cant be beat. Feel bad writing this review love black owned businesses. Wish they ran the establishment a lot better. Compete with other banquet halls or rooms see what's out there. Missing plenty of opportunities due to lack of experience. P.s I've been in retail management over 10 years. I see potential I project loss.

Luis Escoboza Jr: My mom did a baby shower here and it was horrible the owners watch your every move wanna over price for watered down soda the sprite tastes like club soda and the cola tasted bad they dont let u come out even with soda in ur hand they faught with all the guests and almost started a fight with two people they are just horrible to deal with harassing you every move you make and kicking you out an hour before you have to pick up so i should say 2 hours before they are just not perfetional at all what so ever

STEVEN COOLEY: First off I want to say the venue is nice it reminds me of a small restaurant with a trendy bar. But the problem here is not the place or the space it's the management group. It would be a understatement to say they micromanage. They are so involved in ruining you're experience by constantly bickering with you and your catering group because they want to control everything. They move your setups around. Remind you of needless facts. And even went as far as not wanting to offer my guest tap water because they want to make more of a profit. I will never do business with them again they are unprofessional and lack common sense. Please stay away from this banquet hall there are better ones in the area.
Larissa Thornton: Owner double booked my event even though I had booked 6 months prior. When I called to confirm and pay last deposit ,she stated she didn't have a contract. This is all 5 days before the event!!!!(Discovered she gave me the original) When I met with her she tried to have me change my date or time even though I had booked 6 months prior to cater to the other party (who had booked with her only a month prior). Through text she stated I didn't give deposit which I did, (which was stated on my contract) to justify her actions. The other party threatened to sue her for double booking which I feel is why she catered to them. This event was a 50th birthday party for my mother who lives across the country and had to fly in along with other family members. I explained to her I do not understand how she is going with someone who booked 6 months later after I did and never did receive an explanation. Instead I was given back my deposit and a gift certificate (for her hall) which I will NEVER use. Total loss= plane tickets, money for food, custom cake, and DJ expenses and a very disappointed mom all due to the bad business practice of the owner and her poor judgment. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM SHE DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE CONTRACTS NOR THE LAW AND PRACTICE SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!!

Andrea Chasen: I had hired Peg and her staff to cater our daughter's wedding that was scheduled to happen on June 13, 2020. We had to cancel because of the Covid pandemic. Peg, who had been such a wonderful partner in helping to create a menu that would be sustainably sourced and seasonally appropriate, understood. Peg also appreciated how difficult this time would be for us and on June 12 and 13 sent my daughter and us flower arrangements with notes to let us know she remembered and thought of us. I would heartily recommend Peg and her staff at Elegant Affairs for their commitment to their clients, their commitment to the community as a whole and for the delicious food we had sampled before the wedding had canceled.

Rosie: Lovely place for a wedding or any event. Leslie the event coordinator was wonderful and very accomodating. We used Log Cabin for catering and the food was delicious. Views were beautiful and the atmosphere was enchanting.
Annette: The view was beautiful used for my son's wedding. The banquet area was decorated by my new daughter. Beau-ti-ful! (she's available for hire) The photos are of the outside area, the decorated banquet area and the type of dance flooring. My son and daughter used the entire house that day.

Katie Sendra: We had our wedding at the Carriage House on October 19th this year. It is such a charming and quaint venue with a lot of history in the heart of Springfield's Forest Park. Michael was very accommodating with our requests for the rehearsal dinner the evening before and with getting ready in the spacious lovely upstairs bridal suite. We had so much fun taking pictures on the grounds and our photographers were able to get some beautiful shots. Throughout the evening Michael did an amazing job to make sure all of the tent heaters we rented were working in proper and safe order. He even poured us our own champagne when the waitress missed out flutes. I highly recommend the Carriage House at the Barney in Forest park.
