James Shortway: Such a shame. Normally when you hear about a conservation society you think, wow, that’s a great thing they’re doing. Unfortunately the executive director’s crew bullies their way into neighborhoods with little to no regard about the impact. If you speak out, their lawyers will send threatening letters (to the wrong person). Real class act.They bought a piece of property off of a woman who was extremely advanced in age and lost her husband and then her house to foreclosure due to her ability to pay. As is common in the neighborhood, she has a second very narrow deeded piece of land the bank didn’t notice. The new owner of the property (a hard working immigrant) attempted to buy the land off of the woman many times but the woman never somehow seemed coherent enough to actually sell it. Thank goodness that didn’t seem to matter to GWLT!The land resides on one of the most private streets in Worcester and the people on the street pay a premium in both tax and purchase price. For an organization that exists to preserve Worcester, they don’t really seem interested in doing so.My information is correct. You are forcing your way in because you’ve never been told no. You’re a bully organization. Your lawyer did send a threatening email to our neighbor after my wife posted on here. Would you like me to post it? My neighbor did attempt many times to buy the land her driveway is on from the elderly woman who owns the property. You did pay 25% of the asked for and agreed upon price of a woman in an elderly care facility. What exactly are you claiming I have wrong?There’s nothing to reach out about. Colin already came here and said you’re forcing your way into our neighborhood. Who cares that you’re stealing a driveway from a immigrant/minority so you and your rich white friends can have another access point to land you already have access to. I mean, seriously though go look at the photos of GWLT events. NASCAR has more diversity.

Amanda Shortway: This organization is horrendous. They like to allegedly take advantage of elderly people in a home, to get land cheap. They then pretend said elderly person had their same vision for the land , ( keep telling yourself that) when it was most likely a case of the elderly person not accepting an offer for 4x the amount from Asian owner who’s been caring for the land because rhymes with Schmacist. Allegedly. Anyways, now that GWLT has said property, between two residential home who don’t want anything there or anything turned into a public Path, they convince themselves they are building Worcester to a grand future. They aren’t. At all. I’m all for saving the planet but you can’t be serious. Worcester need rehabs, food kitchens, and homeless services to help Worcester’s future. We need better school systems, educational tourist sites, and a strong community. We need to actually listen, instead of being greedy and out of touch. We don’t need a 5th entrance way to a park. Why GWLT won’t sell said land back to my neighbor who’s been taking care of it because it’s basically been her property, is beyond me. She’s offered more than they paid, and perhaps GWLT can actually do dare I say something actually towards a brighter Worcester . Colin , the Yabba dabba doo, and executive director of GWLT claims his implementation of a walking path was to make a woman’s walking group feel safe. He actually said this to two homeowners , both woman, who did not consent to a path being placed inches from their home. Geez Colin, read a room. Anyways, I moved to Worcester 3 years ago. I hope for a future without a corrupt organization like this.Addendum, to the wolves in sheep clothing who responded. Which part are you refuting? Why don’t you publicly tell me how I’m wrong ?
