Diana Couillard: Hadn't been to The Angler in years due to a bad experience. On Sunday, August 21st we gave it another try. My husband and I both ordered the dish "A Bit Of Everything". After eating our dinners it occured to my husband that we had no lobster in our dishes so he grabbed a menu to verify if there was supposed to be lobster and calamari in it and there was. He went up to the chef and mentioned it and all he got was "Thanks for telling me." Both meals came with the wrong pastas...if we don't have a choice, don't offer one! The server just shrugged his shoulders as he placed the dishes in front of us. My husband asked for a spoon for the pasta, a while later he asked someone else because his food was cooling off.Our meals were $84.00 combined and no one offered to change that due to the missing sea food; server included.Upon our arrival there were 2 partie's inside and 2 outside. The hostessasked if we had a reservation which we didn't. She had to ask someone else if it was alright to seat us..... were they going to send us away from a 90% empty restaurant with an hour left before they close?Our total bill was over $100.00 for a sub-par meal/dining experience. Very disappointing to say the least. We won't be back.

Greg L: Worth the wait! We only did take out for holidays or family events. Seafood has always been great. This was our 1st time dining in. It was easy getting a table on a Friday night, the staff was so friendly and the salmon and haddock dishes were tasty and so fresh. Throw in some oysters and the best seafood dinner in a long time. We'll be back.

Aisa: This cozy little place offers a lot of eclectic dishes from raw oysters to lobster alfredo. We had the spicy calamari and bbq octopus to start with the margaritas flight. Very tasty and yes the calamari was indeed spicy!Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and was able to answer our questions about the market pricing promptly. The only critical remark I will make is the clams were not cleaned enough as they were very gritty and a lot of mud was still in the shells. I couldn't eat them but did take them home to rinse and reuse for a chowder.All in all I'd go back again, but I probably would not order any clams.

We had a lobster bisque that had many large chunks of lobster and tasted incredible! All of our sea food was worth every penny! The place is small so you may want to get a reservation. Truly worth going to and enjoying some very good food!!!

Bud Wilbur: So we went here on a whim. So glad we did. First off you have to remember that when you go to the grocery store the prices right now are sky high. This hits our restaurants twice as hard So keep that in mind whe looking at prices. Despite this we hit on a dollar oyster day. They were wonderful. I splurged for a lobster and it was done perfectly. Coleslaw was great not excessive mayo like so many places. Fries crispy. The wife got a special sort and turf, tips came exactly as ordered. She was trying to get me to try and apologize but I couldn't stop eating my lobster. Save room if you can cause the deserts are just as wonderful. We got ours to go as it was late and we wanted to let them close. Not that the seemed to mind at all as a matter of fact the owner and my wife spoke a long time and she had no idea I wrote these reviews. Definitely visit. I can only guess that the negative reviews were during the previous owners. This gal has gone through covid with two folks and just recently got in two more. It's a nice small place with a casual atmosphere and a full bar. Great to sit back relax and enjoy.

Albert Vo: An excellent place to visit when you're in town. I have to admit that the seafood here is super fresh and flavorful. All the dishes came out amazing and delicious. Our host Marie is super friendly, nice and funny! She made our dinner meal much more enjoyable with her wits and jokes. I will definitely be back when I come visit Massachusetts next time.Tips: make sure you call to make a reservation ahead of time because you don't want to wait in a long line.I definitely recommend their fresh oysters and shrimp cocktails the most!Kid-friendliness: A fun family experience for everyone to enjoy.Parking: They have a large parking space, but it can fill up quickly because they are quite popular in the area. You might have a hard time finding parking during peak hours, especially dinner time.

Modern “Modern Butterfly” Butterfly: I recently had a very disappointing experience at the Sole Proprietor. My husband, my son and I were celebrating a special occasion and were looking forward to a delicious seafood meal, but unfortunately, that's not what we got.We started. off with some appetizers; fried clams, steamers, clams casino and a beer for each my husband and son (i was not drinking). Unfortunately, the steamers were undercooked and very sandy, the clams casino very chewy & the fried clams were cold. We didn't complain bc we didn't want to ruin our special dinner.But the worst part of the night came just after we ordered our entrees (we each ordered 2lb. lobsters). When my husband and son tried to order a second beer, the waitress refused to serve them, saying she wanted to make sure we got home safely. We were in disbelief, since neither my husband nor son were remotely drunk on one beer and we were quietly enjoying our time together. Furthermore, I explained that we had taken an Uber to the restaurant! She still refused to serve them. She called the manager over and he also refused to serve them. It was a very unpleasant and ridiculous situation, especially since they are responsible drinkers and have never been loud, rude nor disruptive in any way.What's even more frustrating is that this has never happened to us anywhere before, except THIS restaurant. We were hoping the previous incident was just. a one-off during Covid. It's insulting and outrageous to accuse us of being drunk and saying we are incapable of making responsible decisions.I would not recommend Sole Proprietor to anyone. The food was subpar, and the staff's behavior unacceptable. It's a shame because we were looking forward to a great. dining experience, but instead we left feeling disappointed and disrespected.I'd be curious to know if this has happened to anyone else here? Clearly, I understand an establishment cutting a customer off if the customer is indeed drunk. But what i mean is has anyone else been cut off when they are not? What is the deal here?

Anne Edgington: We arrived a bit early for our reservation, but were seated right away. Our servers, Brendan and Earnest came over promptly and took our drink order. Tip: the 1/2 bottles of wine are a great deal and let’s you order white or sparkling with the appetizer and red with the meal. We ordered oysters and a 1/2 bottle of sparkling rose from Alsace. Brendan volunteered to take our picture and arranged our table to maximize the shot. We both ordered the filet and lobster tail and easily substituted a vegetable for a starch. We also got a 1/2 bottle of A to Z Pinot noir. The service the two provided was top notch. I could see on the corner of my eye that they would both would regularly glance over to see if we needed anything. A great tactic to ensure our needs were met without hovering. The steak was cooked to perfection Pink inside with a little char on the outside. The lobster tail was probably the best I’ve ever eaten. It was tender and succulent. The Sole Proprietor is not cheap, but boy do you get what you pay for. Thank you Brendan and Ernie for a wonderful evening.
