Everyone did a great job from creating the foundation, building the 3-season porch and the Timberline/Azek deck.But, it wasn't just building and cleaning up every day. It was craftsmanship from the start with the recommended architect at J.R. Associates to the extra touches from the almost seamless connections of the railings to the angled posts to the trim of the steps. In the winter, we just sat out on the porch looking out at the lawn. Geat Idea: I had gotten 4 quotes to fix a major leak where the stucco on the front of my house leaked over the years and replace the stucco section with James Hardie shingles. It required re-flashing where the Hardie met the roof and brick walls. Let's just say Igor's quote was so much more realistic for the section that needed to be repaired. He knew from the beginning what was causing the issue and came highly regarded from the folks at James Hardie Corp. His crew had to replace rotted plywood on the exterior wall under the stucco as well as a 2x6 or two. I was impressed by the speed in which it was completed and the cleanup post work. His company is old school and does the work the way it should be done. Don't even hesitate for a second if you're concerned with quality and honesty.Service:Remodeling

Clearly, we need a new roof. It’s at the end of its life. He pointed out everything wrong with my current roof and while it was leaking in a certain area, we still knew we needed a replacement. However, not a cost we can take on. Nick, without hesitation, offered to repair the leak, but also added a solar fan for the garage because it’s 1,000 degrees in there. By Nick agreeing to the repair, this gives us 2 more years (estimated) to obtain the funds for a complete repair. Lewis Lipsitz: We hired G&O to replace a steep, complex, and very high roof on our old 3-story Victorian home. Unlike 2 other roofers we received estimates from, they informed us that we could make an insurance claim for shingle "blow-off," which we didn't realize was covered. They also provided a private adjuster who successfully negotiated with the insurance company to pay the cost of a better quality roof than they had originally agreed to. It then took a while to get town permits and begin the job, but we were extremely impressed by the workmen and their quality of work. They were true craftsmen and a pleasure to have working for us. They cleaned up every day, did not use scaffolding, lifts, or dumpsters, and left no debris on site. The finished roof looks fabulous. We have had numerous experiences with roofers in the past, but G&O was in a class of its own, far above all others. They are expensive, but well worth the price - especially with the help of insurance coverage.

Tom Hendrick (Sylventhe): It is my not-so-humble opinion that the measure of a person's character isn't necessarily whether or not things go right, but how they handle it when things go wrong. In this regard, Leon Buckley and his company have shown nothing but exceptional character.We were trying to sell our condo, and came across a problem with not having a permit for the finished basement. After some back-and-forth with the building inspector, we decided to bring everything up to code rather than tear out the finished basement. This also involved putting in an egress window, which involved cutting the concrete foundation. It also involved the time constraint of doing all these items within four weeks before closing, including getting the building permit.Buckley Home Improvement came in with a detailed quote for significantly less than what another contractor quoted. So, we signed the contract and got started. Everything went according to plan and schedule.On a Thursday, he was supposed to have a subcontractor dig the hole so the following Monday the Concrete Cutting Company could cut the hole for the window. The sub showed up and dug part of the hole, and then left. He was going to "finish the hole on Friday". No-show / No-call. Called Leon, and he got to the bottom of it. Sub is going to come out Saturday and finish. Saturday comes, again no-call / no-show from the Subcontractor. Called Leon. Within an hour, Leon and his assistant were there digging the hole. Asked him about it, and the guy said he was going to "come on Sunday" to finish the hole, and Leon told him to forget about it.Leon didn't make this problem into my problem. Leon got the work done. No slip in schedule. No excuses. He made it happen.Come last Friday, and a bunch of his crew "called out sick". Leon worked the entire day, alone, in the basement, by himself. Again, no slip in schedule.We are three days away from the closing on the sale of our house. Leon and his main guy (name withheld to protect the innocent or something like that) are currently downstairs sanding the drywall mud, and are hoping to put paint on later this afternoon. We are hoping for Final Inspection tomorrow.Leon and his team have done nothing but kick butt for us on our project, even under the gun. He's given us good updates on the work, and the building inspections necessary, and the timelines.I would definitely recommend Buckley Home Improvement for any future contracting or construction needs.
