Justin Fong: I was recently 'forced' to take care of fish. Without Pet Shop, all my fish would be totally dead. The incredibly nice owner (since the 70s!!!) was there to answer my newbie fish owner questions, and helped with general suggestions on how to scale as things become more settled.I came back a week later for more tips, and again, the owner was again gracious with his time. Though I hope I don't have to visit often to replace fish, I look forward to coming back to learn more from the wonderful owner.(Not that this place is a petting zoo but they definitely get bonus points the super friendly dogs and a cat around that make the place feel very homey.)
Ken Sorensen: This place is horrible. 25% of the fish are dead or dying and the store hasn't been cleaned in years. The cat who lives at the store is bloated and full of internal parasites from drinking directly from the scummy goldfish tanks on the bottom racks. I'd rather support a big box chain store than this place.

They are already able to bond with new owners, i never bought a sick or neglected pet from this pop and son owed store. It's one of the last pet stores of its kind! It's been on the Ave my whole life wouldn't go anywhere else.
Edward Leyva: WHAT A BAD SERVICE, Saturday June 18, 2022, approximately 2:30 pm, I went looking for a pet, after more than 30 minutes of waiting, the man who attended came out, he was cleaning the cages in the back where the pets are located. birds, he came out with a bad attitude, he was a man of about 35 years, with a beard, glasses and bald. I asked him about some pets and he told me that they did NOT have pets for sale??? Like me, there were other customers, some are buying products and food for their pets and he told them something that also made them uncomfortable? They put the products back in their place and left!! Every day I am surprised to see more people with that bad energy and attitude to serve customers, I imagine it was not the owner, for this reason it leaves a disappointment that I will not return to this store.

Esther Paik: I really only like this store because the owner has a cute cat. The store itself is really unsanitary and unclean, all the fish tanks look like they could use a good clean and the store overall is just very crusty. There's a back room with exotic animals, but it's always closed. I once went to this store while the back room was open because the owner was showing the pets there to a customer. I asked if I could go in too and he said no, I had to choose a specific animal from the list and let him know if I wanted to see it. Which was weird considering he basically was showing all of the available animals to that customer. He's also very strict about no photography in the room.The owner himself seems nice, but every time I've visited the store there's some sort of incident. Recently when I went, I noticed the owner's dog was casually drinking the dirty water on top of a bucket near the fish tanks; given the fish net on top of it, I assume it was water from the tanks themselves. I think if the owner is going to bring his pets, he needs to at least improve the supervision of them as he seems to be the only employee at the store. Overall, it's a fairly dirty environment that's a bit suspicious with the whole closed-off back room and the owner's rules.
Crawford Dread: The best kind of pet shop that's rarely seen anymore--owned by a family of animal lovers, you can be sure that this establishment puts the health of their livestock before easy profits. Friendly & informative staff who are a pleasure to chat with every time i go in to stare longingly at the fish.

Mary B: This place abuses animals, full stop. Reported to MSPCA law enforcement, and if you're reading this, PLEASE do the same. Animals here are all near death and held in disgusting conditions. They have a whole room in the back full of exotic birds that seems incredibly suspicious-- you aren't allowed to go back there and all photos and videos are banned. I believe this location to be a front for exotic bird smuggling. The dogs in this shop need to be confiscated by the MSPCA-- their fur is one massive mat and they barely moved when we entered the shop from heat exhaustion. The tanks are filthy and the birds are kept in squalor overloaded in tiny cages. Please please report this place, and take photos and video evidence if you can.

To crown it all, unfriendly cashiers as well but I can’t blame them if that guy is their boss. Anyway, I bought a cheap dog toy and left. Was planning to buy a nice collar and some treats and toys and make a gift basket but I wouldn’t spend more with that much disrespect. Most of the items are overpriced, by the way. Much cheaper online. Pet stores must be friendly. My free tip for you as a project manager: be friendly and respect your customers. You are just a pet store not Tiffany! Maybe they were mad at me because I was wearing a mask! Horrible behavior! I am surprised a man of that age has never learned basic courtesy. He was also nicer to anyone who looked Irish.

Allyssa Meunier: Came back again and we got a beautiful ball python to add to our growing family. The owner as always is so kind. We always leave there learning a lot about the different kinds of animals he keeps. This is the best pet store around. Here’s a picture of the day we fell in love with “Ghost”.We also have birds (conures and parakeet/budgies) that we have gotten from him and I had meant to leave a review before that he also offers boarding services! He’s watched our birds while we have been away on vacation twice before and they were well taken care of and given their favorite fruits and vegetables while we were away.

The owner is very well informed, super helpful and does not really try to hard sell anything. I also appreciate the reasonable prices at this store compared to other big stores or even Amazon. Highly recommend it!
Holly Vrotsos: I have been visiting this store for years and it is one of the few local old school pet shops left in the Greater Boston area so it’s great to support. The owner is so kind, very helpful and the care he bestows upon his animals is very evident. In the past he has given me food to feed his reptiles, to feed his parrot. Real animal lover; such a great place.
Star Blidgen: One of the oldest pet shops around and still one of the best funny educational easygoing guy a gentle giant runs the shop great with kids my daughter and I walked in there and was greeted pleasantly showed us around talked about different animals walked along with us and made us laugh will always come here first when looking for anything in Massachusetts regarding fish bird life prices are reasonable I remember coming here as a little girl and it almost looks the same even though it's change owners it feel good to have the same type of Love passed on to my child childhood great guy
Ashley Pitts: I have been visiting this store for a few years have a 35 gallon and a 10 gallon aquariums. The owner is a local from the area and is knowledgeable about fresh water fish, reptiles, rodents and birds. He is helpful with questions over the phone and in person.
Kelly Wilson: I tried to purchase a betta fish here (one that looked like it could use some TLC). I innocently and briefly mentioned to the man behind the counter that it might need some TLC (hoping he would maybe give me advice) and the man got defensive and aggressive--repeating over and over again "I don't sell sick fish" and "Don't buy it then!" I remained silent, apologized, and he only got more aggressive. When I said I'd be okay with purchasing it anyways, he asked me what size tank I'd be using. I had a 10 gallon tank cycled and ready at home with plants. He immediately told me that the fish would be 'scared' of a tank that size and that bettas prefer small 1 gallon bowls.This is just bad advice. Do your research before shopping here. Bettas should be kept in 5 gallons and up. Contrary to what he told me while I was there, wild bettas don't 'live in puddles' as a choice (though they can survive in them). I came into the store hoping to support a local business and seek advice of the owner. He was extremely rude and I walked out in tears.Don't shop here!

(Bettas can be sold after 7:30 pm) They need a big tank with space like this!!! (Cashier then shows them the dimensions of a 10 gallon tank) Bettas need space to grow or their internal organs will collapse and they will suffocate!!” - Friends walk away to put back fish back visibly shaken up.Me buying supplies: “Hi, just this.”Cashier to me while group of friends still in earshot: “People like this you know, what is wrong with them, they just don’t understand, it takes responsibility to own a fish. They need to learn, second time I had to tell people this today. People are just irresponsible. They just don’t think.”Me: “Oh ok, receipt please.”…yeah not sure what’s going on with this location…but it’s not good.

They were the closest and the only one open and we were a bit desperate for wet food for a picky kitty. The experience that night was so awful we vowed never to go back. BUT I recently broke that vow and went back in and this place seems like they are doing a lot better now and cleaned things up. Will come back again for some kitty treats.

This place has turned into a complete disaster in the last couple of years. the icing on the cake for me was when I went there last week for a grooming appointment after months of trying to find an appointment slot. I get there only to be told they havent had a groomer there IN OVER A MONTH!! Then why the hell did the website let me make the appointment and then also receive a text on my phone the day before confirming the appointment?? I had to take time off a very busy work day to deal with that nonsense and lost valuable time and money. Guy at the store told me sorry it shouldn’t have let you make an appointment online, try another store. When I called corporate to speak with someone in charge, I was told I'd get a call back from a manager within the hour, that was a week ago lol!!!

Angela Peters: Not a great shopping experience. The store smells really bad. There were carts with random products just thrown on them. A package of small animal bedding was open and bedding was spilled on the shelf and floor. The few bettas they had were in sad shape. The only employees I saw were up at the registers, talking to each other. Between the mess, and the smell, I just wanted to get out of there. I didn’t buy anything and probably will not go in this location again.

night flowers: very good 10/10, amazing staff which are very helpful, has everything i need for my pets 😍 i reading the reviews and ignore Matt Sullivans comment because they clearly dont know what they are talking about, why would you want to buy a cat with "fleas" after saying the cats had fleas?? (they dont LOL) and they stepped out of line and made the breeder extremely uncomfortable for a reason, none of it was the breeders fault.
Matt Sullivan: So me and the girlfriend went in to look at the cats that were for sale and we brought to the breeder and groomers attention that the cats had fleas and the lady was extremely rude and ignorant when we brought the fleas up to her and then we went back another day and she turned around and would not sell us any cats because she did not feel comfortable I recommend nobody go there the service was horrible and the lady is very unruly

Thank you so much Ross for your patience, fun personality, and helpfulness throughout the process to help me find the right bird. I couldn’t have had a better experience and really enjoyed our time and visits at the store. Pets world also has everything you need at very reasonable prices which is a plus! The staff here are great people, super friendly, and knowledgeable. Ross is AMAZING and highly recommend going to him or Michelle who is also great. I ended up getting a white bellied caique named Mango. The parrot is so gentle, social, and lovable. I can’t thank Pets World enough for bringing this bird to my life.

T Smith: Not happy at all because after an extensive wait for the appointment day, I took the day off, drove to Medford from Dorchester and took my dog in and her appointment was canceled and rescheduled. The grooming area and pretty much the store were almost empty except for a few shoppers and 1 dog being groomed, I thought that she would at least try. My thought is because the booked price was still at $65. Since I booked it over a month ago. Once the person canceled and rescheduled, the cost was 95 and no that was not because anything else was added. Her (Danielle smelling like cigarettes) excuse was that my dogs neck was too matted and she couldn’t do it but I ended up taking her to another groomer and they were able to do it. So even though I just signed up for the vital care premier, I will not be going to the Medford store ever again. Perhaps leaving PETCO all together.P.s. some of the checkout cashiers are incompetent as well. Like not knowing current prices, knowing nothing about the app. I mean if you work at a company, you would at least learn how things work in order to satisfy the customers. I’m just saying…
Saaha Martinez: Very upset. My dog came for a grooming and wasn’t attended because there wasn’t his vaccines on file. Even though he took the shots three weeks ago at Petco. How they don’t put in the file? I have to carry papers with me wherever I go?

Michael Pach: Let me preface this by saying we have a 9 year old Maltese who has been groomed his entire life by the groomers at Petsmart in Everette. Post covid they have had trouble with staffing and we had a new staff every time we went. Needless to say the results were mixed.We decided to try a new place a little closer to home. Our first experience was fine. The last last time not so much. I didn’t see the groomer who saw him the first time at check in. I explained to the receptionist that our pet was a lil old but was seeing the vet on a regular basis. Everything seemed ok.I was surprised when they called 1 hour later and said he was ready. I was told they could no longer groom my pet because he was difficult to deal with. I have since spoken to several other pet owners in town who have had a similar experience. Seems this establishment only wants to deal with easy pets. May I remind them they are “animals” not people. They may require a lil extra attention. I would think one would know that getting into this occupation. Upon arrival I was presented with a 90$ bill for my rushed service. I still left a generous tip despite the sub par service.I would not recommend this establishment to anyone with a pet that is not a trained pedigree angel.
D. Alece Davis: Customer service is awesome. Everyone there are very helpful and makes sure you are good to go before leaving the store.The Vet services as well are amazing . The staff and Vets are the best yet that I have brought my dog too. . i strongly suggest going to see for yourself. Best place yet!!
Branden Lyons: This place is terrible they overcharged me and sold me medication knowing my pet was too sick to take it then wouldn’t refund me my money over 200$ telling me it would make him better and feel comfortable when they knew it wouldn’t of mattered if you can go somewhere else I’d advise that this place is just trying to get as much money as they can from you
