gather here: what do users think?
Dan T: I received a gift card for two classes at Gather Here for Christmas but have been unable to actually sign up for any of the basic classes. They only allow 4 slots (which sounds nice, more personalized attention) but they fill up almost immediately. I have no idea if I'll ever get a slot in a class, which means the gift card is useless.
Jessie Micallef: Staff was super helpful and friendly. Surprisingly large selection for a "local" store, especially with fun patterned fabrics, cross stitch kits, and embroidery kits. I'm looking forward to returning soon for more supplies and checking out the classes schedule
Rowan Johnson: Store is catered to people too inexperienced to realize they’re overpaying for basically everything in the store, especially patterned quilt fabric and yarn. Paltry selection of patterns of any kind. Classes are not worth the money if you aren’t a beginner. Owner still requiring everyone to wear masks in 2023. Decent if you need one or two small things and you’re in the area or want to window shop for inspiration but not a place to buy a quilt top’s or sweater’s worth of supplies.
Jonathan Che: Cute store, great selection, excellent community vibes inside. Staff was super helpful and patient with my beginner questions. Note that masks are currently required (disposable masks available at the door)
Vivian Cheng: I loved visiting here with No idea what I’m talking about and walking away with a bunch of tools to learn a new skill for life! What a cool shop with caring, talented team Ave amazing fun tools and all-natural fibers that appeal to all crafty characters. I am amazed I didn’t walk out with more fun projects to try, there’s just too many cool things to choose from.
Molly Ruggles: A wonderful store, great staff, excellent selection, a very nice addition to Inman Square. As noted by others, the pricing is quite steep. But perhaps that is what's necessary to support small businesses.
Kayla Caulfield: I stopped by gather here today for the second time (first time was this past August). I came by today to pick up specific items for an introductory knitting class that I will be taking next January at Cambridge Center for Adult Education. I was not at all familiar with the items that were on the class materials list and a gather here employee was incredibly helpful in helping me find the items as well as described them to a beginner like myself. The other employees I interacted with were kind as well. There's so much to look at in there- they not only have individual materials but also have starter kits for various types of fiber projects. They have completed projects on display such as tote bags, and as I was looking at them, I thought to myself- I want to make that! I hope to score a spot in a sewing class soon (which I've heard go quickly). They're a fantastic small business to support.
Andrew Smith: Nice shop. Good selection of fabrics. Enjoyed seeing the the long arm in action. Got several good ideas for using with our long arm.
melinda athey: Great selection of embroidery kits!
Inness: What a sweet little craft store! Bunch of sewing machines at the back.
Sarah Tweedie: Beautiful selection of fabric, helpful staff
Brian Twitchell: Lots of small kits for beginners. Yarn and fabric and some craft supply tools. There was even a class or gathering for embroidery or something when I went recently. They have a rewards program, helpful staff, and require masks to help support their community's safety.
StarSixSeven: Wonderful little haberdashery. They don’t have all of the ancillary tools you may need but what they do have is leaps and bounds better than your typical chain store
Ava French: The staff here are wonderful and I loved taking a class as a refresher for sewing!
Alyssa Smith: Everyone is very helpful and considerate here, and my dog loves to say hi to the staff (we both love that Gather Here is dog-friendly). Wanted to also say thank you for requiring masks! There’s so much we don’t know about the long term effects of covid, but we already know that masking can help vulnerable members of our community stay safe. I’m so glad to see one of my favorite places taking a stand and saying that vulnerable people are worth protecting and the pandemic isn’t over!!
Catherine Berry: Absolutely enjoyed my recent visit. Pleasantly surprised at the beautiful fabrics, variety and the exceptional quality. Ah . . . and the notions!! Definitely will add this shop to my list of favorite haunts for my quilting supplies.
Kate O'Leary: Great selection, wonderful staff.
t c: Son liked the place. Great/friendly service, selection and good prices. He bought some yarn for knitting.
Sarah Welch: This is a great craft store with tons of neat little notions. I'm a knitter, and I appreciated the selection of yarns they had for a store that's not just dedicated to yarn.
Ruthmary Weinger: Such a wealth of great kits, gadgets and beautiful fabrics! I love visiting this store.
Annabel Smith: Learned to knit here and haven’t stopped since. I’m in this store like at least once a week. Really nice staff and beautiful products. Kind of expensive but more than worth it for the amazing quality. Definitely come here if you want to learn knitting (or other fiber crafts)!!

Bead + Fiber: what do users think?
Heidi Reid: A cute little yarn craft store that holds knitting/crochet/crafting events frequently.
Genesis Barrientos: First time at the store & it was a great experience. A very cute and organized store filled with lots of yarn and maker items. Loved talking to others in the shop too!
Marilana Rufo: **this shop has changed hands (and names) and no longer carries jewelry stuff)**I've had a few really positive experiences in this store. They have lots of cool beads and a variety of styles. It's not cheap, but it's also not outrageous, so if you are into jewelry-making, and are looking for unique items to use, you'll enjoy this place. I have also only had positive experiences with the customer service too, so I'm not sure what the other reviewers are referring to, but the woman I always see there has always been very helpful and friendly! I love this place! I did show up once and they were closed during regular hours so I would recommend calling first if you're schlepping out from far away!
Marni B.: Nice LYS. Not much yarn selection but great atmosphere and lots of goodies to look at.
Cathy Eriksson: As a yarn tourist, this is just what you want out of a local yarn store. A beautiful store with a good variety of local and just beautiful yarns. Had a good chat with the owner/ person manning the store. Got someGorgeous treasures.
Haley Urbach: Great new knitting shop! They also have a good selection of other craft supplies including embroidery materials. Very friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely be back!
Dr. Jeanne Ingle: Great service! Love the variety of yarns - especially locally dyed yarns! Highly recommend!
Megan Dominick: I visited for the first time last week while visiting my sister. It is a great little shop with a lot of options for yarn, embroidery, etc., and it is someplace that I would shop at again.
Christopher Dinan: Great selection of quality yarns. Friendly staff.
R C: Pretty yarn but kinda expensive, small shop
Aimee Hein: Love the focus on local yarns! Great shop for crafters!
Corey Lehman: Amazing place!!!!!
mary lipman: great shop- knowledgeable and most helpful proprietor- I've been knitting a long time and the vibe of this shop continues to inspire me!!!
william cayson: Great selection! Love this shop!
mary kennedy: Great store, Sara is so knowledgeable!
Elizabeth Barron: Excellent service, beautiful yarn, staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Katie Lehman: Incredibly knowledgeable , beautifully crafted selection , and overall fabulous shop owner…. Hands down the best up and coming place for all your knitting needs!!
Hannah Donnelly: The yarn selection at this shop is insane and everyone is always super helpful. I also ordered a custom baby blanket and it turned out beautifully. Love this little shop!
CT Hermans Webster: This is a great store run by the nicest person!
Nora I: Great customer service, super friendly and easy to work with!
Caryn Uebelacker: at first I was excited to find the shop. Great area, looked clean and spacious for a small space. Two women in store were wearing masks, so I asked if I needed one and they said no. Not quite sure if they both worked there, or if one was a customer. At any rate, I was in there for at least another ten minutes with no words said to me, and no eye contact AT ALL. I started to think I should see how long it takes for the staff member to notice me, and decided I didn't want to wait any longer. BIG mistake on their part, because I am a paying customer and left (and found another store not too far away).I know customer service folks get a bad rap these days and I hesitated before posting this. I don't want to be the one who complains, but then again I don't know who was working this afternoon. If this was the owner, shame on you. If it's someone else, then the owner needs to address this.

Brookline Arts Center: what do users think?
Lisbeth Sanchez: Absolutely wonderful place
C. Gomes: Working here has been a dream, it is the perfect arts job straight out of college as it gives you a little slice of everything that comes within working for a nonprofit. Seeing the happy students is the icing on top ✨
Aeran Song: Our two kids attended art class for the first time today. They love art and thier teachers. Thank you.
Arrecis: My daughter just took an art class here. She was always excited to see her teacher and friends. It's a small art school but staff is very friendly and kind. Will be back in the fall for another great art adventure. My only observation is the check in and check out takes to long. Parents are not allowed in the building for obvious reasons to COVID. So we have to wait in line outside.
W O: What a cool place! I love the history of the building and the lovely couple who founded the center. A nice community park is located right outside the door. Art programs and classes are offered to all. Visiting artists teach different artistic disciplines...okay, no more big words...just visit it, you'll love it! By the way...open house tomorrow!!
Tara Monuteaux: They offer great summer programs and classes for all ages. This is my daughter's 4th year attending the summer Artventures program and she loves it. The teachers are great, the class sizes reasonable, and location is convenient, close to the T! The building is adorable. It used to be an old firehouse and the playground outside is firehouse themed. I highly recommend the BAC!

Stitch House Dorchester: what do users think?
Elizabeth Caruso: When I make a mistake, especially with cables or fancy patterns, I need someone who can "read" my stitches and help get me back on track. Suzanne is a natural teacher, not only fixing me up, but boosting my sagging confidence as well. Thank you, Suzanne!
Denise Washington: Stitch House was great! The sales ladies were very helpful and patient.
cindy waugh: Being a new knitter and wanting to knit while traveling back to Bmore, I had a knitting emergency and was looking for help to continue my project and figure out what I kept doing wrong...THE ENDS...lucked up on a knitting class and had great conversation and a knitting lesson that helped me to continue my project while traveling. Made some new knitting friends and will return when back in town!!!
A. Colondres: Cute shop with very polite staff! I went in because it had both fabric and yarn! I found sewing patterns outside of the Big 4. And both familiar and unfamiliar yarns.c
Caryn Uebelacker: I would give this store ten stars if I could. Robin was delightful, and extremely helpful and friendly. I always like to find something "local" and she showed me some lovely fiber. We chatted for a bit about our favorite things to knit, what's on our needles currently, etc. I will definitely come back for another visit the next time I am in town.
Joannie C: Great Experienced Staff ! Lots of choices!I am a novice knitter. Robin was able to assist me in picking out materials to make a hat. She answered all my questions and even demonstrated a knitting tip for joining in the round. Top notch shop! Also Carries a small selection of fabric. An active beginner sewing class was taking place while I was in there. Being a sewer, I took some time to watch. The instructor was patient and had a great way in directing the students. It was all hands on!
Jenna Cramer: The coolest sewing store.around for sure.
Silvia Sobral: I just sort of run into Stitch House this afternoon, after having just picked up knitting and having met an experienced knitter on a plane who raved about it. I walked into the cozy, colorful store to find a group of knitters working on their projects in their central table. I was promptly greeted by the one of the lovely ladies working there and, after walking around looking at the beautiful yarn and chatting with her, I felt completely at home and I'm already looking at the schedules to sign up for a series of knitting classes.
Rosa Palomino: It's a great little store with prices in every range.
A B: Amazing selection & great staff! It was so nice to walk in and see a group knitting at the table, chatting away. I’d drive up from the south shore again and again!! Quick turn right off the highway with plenty of street parking.
maria faria: Loved this place. Valerie was amazing. Very helpful and felt very confident when i left with my project.
Mira Whiting: I wish I could visit this great yarn shop more often -- I love how bright and cheery it is, how helpful the staff are, and the yarn selection is excellent.
Judith Scott-Hammerquist: Jewel of the Boston Knitting world. Great selection of Yarns wonderful customer service and expert instruction.
Ania Noeledwards: The instructor was great, knowledgeable and the environment was cozy and comfortable.
ellen kirkendall: Wonderful service and great selection make this shop a must visit. Parking is not great, but access from the highway is easy.
Rachel Beaudry: love Stitch house! I moved north of the city and am so sad I can no longer stop by on my way home from work to get some yarn on a whim!
ELLA williams: love it
Kathi Hyde: What a wonderful little shop! They have unusual items and a wonderful selection of yarns and books. They were very helpful.
Donna O'Brien: I've known Annissa for a long time and I'v been a teacher for her. She is the best person in the whole world to run these classes. I went to one on Saturday and learned more about my sewing machine than I've learned from other classes. Indeed, we had fun; the instructor was great and the vibe was so comforting.

Diablo Glass School: what do users think?
Shepard Shane: My wife surprised me for Valentines day with a class here making stemless wine glasses. The staff was very warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable. Lindsy, Tara and Seth were our teachers and it was a good mix of instruction and them allowing you to do processes yourself. 100% would recommend to anyone looking for a fun new hobby or just a unique date night!
Bhishma Patel: I attended the stained glass suncatcher class. The instructor was absolutely amazing. If I was rating the instructor i would give them a 5/5 no doubt. I am not so impressed with the diablo facility itself for a few reasons.1. The glass color options were lacking in my opinion. There wasn't a good display for the glass options either which made it hard to pick out colors I wanted and felt very rushed.2. I also really wish they wrote on their website that because it is a 4 hour class, you were only able to make a piece with 6-8 glass pieces total as the craft is very time consuming.3. I would also recommend them having a pre-class informational page on the website because the instructions took up a lot of the time even though it was a 4 hour class, I felt a bit rushed the whole time and that made things a little stressful and not as enjoyable of a process.4. The major bummer was actually the fact that I was originally planning to attend a class with a friend who loves to craft just as much as I do. Unfortunately, she found out she was exposed to covid and tested positive 2 days before the class. I was informed that in order to reschedule, we would have to pay $30 per person. I was incredibly disappointed to hear this. I understand that they have a policy in place but for there to be no exceptions for something out of our control was really baffling to me. Especially considering the class itself was already $180 pp. Again, I understand they're a small business and I am happy to support local artists but to ask to pay even more on top of that for something out of our control was just upsetting to me. My friend ended up giving her ticket away to my boyfriend and it ended up being a good time still but the principal of the issue rubbed me the wrong way. So just beware if you are planning on scheduling with this facility, don't plan on getting sick unless you want to pay $30 more for the class.
Hailey Buxton: Took the stemless wine glass class and had so much fun! Instructors were incredibly friendly and made sure everything went smoothly. Would 10/10 go again
Nancy Carlucci: Staff provided tour & good information but, it took up too much time. I was very rushed and found the creative time unenjoyable.
courtney cox: Alex was an amazing instructor!!!
P: Wonderful experience!
C Martini: What an experience!! Worth every cent! They really took the time to make sure we knew what was going on and that we were safe. Our instructor was knowledgeable and friendly. This was a great way to try something new and a little scary but still controlled. Absolutely recommend this for anyone considering trying glass blowing.
kenric grunwald: An awesome time. The instructors are great!
Alex Ostergard: Took a class on glass flowers and it was super fun! Sarah and Hannah were great teachers, and did a great job guiding us on how to use their equipment. I'd definitely be interested in taking more classes!
Alexander DeArruda: 100% worth the experience.
Mike: Took a 2 hour private class with me and my girlfriend. We each got to pick the colors for our own paperweights and were able to mold, shape , and cut our glass anyway we liked. Our Instructor Pat was extremely helpful , friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend this anyone looking into getting into glass blowing or just looking for something fun to do. We had a blast!
Matt H: Went to Diablo as a surprise birthday gift. It was great! Seth made us feel welcome and safe. My wife and I both made glass paperweights. Truly a one of a kind experience.
Santiago Perez: Great experience, wonderful staff
David Thompson: Took a small introductory glass class here, just my wife and myself. Nice first experience with molten glass. Our instructor was Patient with us as total beginners, taught us the tools, demonstrated each process, and then helped us each complete a couple of pieces ourselves. Parking was available right next to the school. Im sure this is not the only thing to do there, but our experience was good.
Rich Lange: Great Experience and so fun!
Frank J. Braxton: Run 3 Game top my list of favorite games from 88kgames
Linda S. Horwitz: We attended the wine-tasting and glass blowing demonstration. I highly recommend it! We learned so much and got a front row seat to all the techniques used in this amazing artform. But it was the instructors Adam and Pat that were educational and entertaining. I would love to go back and take classes there. THANK YOU.
Ben Dwyer: Visited for a birthday party. Instructor was fantastic, glass blowing demo was riveting, and slab making was a blast. Price was inexpensive, too!
John B Howell: Fantastic place
Alisha Ciardi: We contacted Diablo glass either a week or a week and a half before our wedding (if my memory serves me--basically it was way too close to the big day) to collaborate with them on a bell jar as a guest book. We are from out of town so when we arrived at Diablo to pick up the glass plate that would become the bell jar and to show Doris the type of murrine glass we had purchased for the guests to glue on, she didn't know we were coming because I accidentally sent the email I meant for her back to myself somehow. She handled it all incredibly well and gave us a tour of the glass studio while we waited for the glass we needed to be cut. If I lived in Boston, I would be there all the time.On our wedding day, guests glued murrine pieces to the glass in unique patterns and shapes and we send it back to Diablo to be blown into a bell jar. They did two tests before the blew our actual piece to make sure they got it right (you only get one shot). Doris kept me updated every step of the way. They shipped it out to us in Chicago in what must be the mother or all styrofoam boxes--they carved out the styrofoam so the bell jar fit just right--and it arrived quickly and, most importantly, in one piece! The whole process after the wedding took about 5 weeks. This was such a special part of our wedding and I'm so glad we worked with Diablo to make it happen.
SWiM: Not sure what exactly went wrong during my visit to diablo this past month. Was it the instructor who refused to let us explore different colors? or was it when he told us he had had a "liquid lunch" and that it was to thank for his lack of shakiness. What really caught me was the pure un-organized structure of the computers, staff, and studios. Money on my giftcard "vanished" forcing me to abandon the ornament class I had scheduled months earlier and rent studio time which was ludicrously cheap compared to the "classes". Many times did I have to search for missing tools while the "instructor" and other renters watched. I also was ignored by the girl(s) working the desk numerous times when I asked about colors, tool locations, and plain questions about the facility. When I received my ornaments and pendants I couldnt believe how awful the hooks had been applied, leaving sharp glass protruding past the crude hanger. There was missing pendants(s) which I called about and still have gotten zero response. There were many other factors including the aroma of weed which tended to linger, then the decaying neighborhood which gave me a front row seat to watch drug deals and domestic viloence. Those were irrelevent because I made the conscious decision of coming to Boston. Nevertheless Im saddened for what has become of a studio who is surely attempting a reincarnation of the lost artform but falling flat on mere presence and morals.

Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts: what do users think?
ross hehe: hola buenos dias ,me gustaria saber si clases son gratis o cuanto hay que pagar y si la dan en español o que por lo meno yo poder entender un poco al maestros,es que lamentablente no es podido aprender el ingles😔
Laura Sierra: My teenager has taken several of their art classes and absolutely loves them. The instructors are great. They have helped him to grow as an artist.
Fredrick Lazar (Fred): Looking forward to the re-opening
Kara Klein: Critical:Communication
Sarah Treibergs: I signed up for this class months ago(three Friday classes), class was suppose to start today, got an email yesterday the class was cancelled due to under enrollment. Couldn't they have given at least a week's notice!
Betty Venegas: I called to make a question about the classes the person who I talked to was very rude too bad I really wanted to take some classes
Alexander Bogdanov: Eliot is a good place for kids and retirees, but a real challenge for professional adults. The school is good for some basic classes, but will fail to address your ambition to develop your skills. If only the management was more reasonable and actually attempted to address student needs! They could turn the school into a gem! Unfortunately, the management fails to cater to the student body, prioritizing bureaucracy and mediocrity over the learning. If you are a working adult, you are better off enrolling elsewhere.
Sivan Lahav: The rudest, most impatient representative i have ever talked to.
Janaki Smith: Love this school; its great for adults and children. If you are able to take a class here, you will not be disappointed.
Oneness: My two kids spent more than one year in here until they took all available programs which suited their interests and ages, my daughter took handcraft classes and sewing, my son took woodwork and tinker invention. Eliot school has great teachers and REAL stuff, my son made real wood seat, hangers, etc., the classes usually run 2 hours which is just right to learn and enjoy making stuff. It's a very relaxed environment , I definitely will send kids back to here.
John Salisz: Great school to learn some new skills.
