REI: what do users think?
Kira Clingen: This place needs more staff and better training, especially in their bike department. Came in with a flat tire - they replaced it, it went flat the next day. Went back, they replaced it again, it went flat. Took it to another bike shop - there was a massive shard of glass in the rim that they didn’t find either time. Out $30 and multiple hours.
Elisabeth Graham: The staff at REI Cambridge is so helpful and kind. I ordered the wrong shoes and they assisted with an easy exchange, communicating what they had in stock and what they didn’t. I’m so grateful to have this neighborhood store close by.
Steven Zelek: Service is good, but please be aware that this store mostly stocks: clothing, bike gear, climbing gear, and a small selection of accessories. It's a small store - so just have the right expectation.
Samantha Kanach: Love this REI! The people who work are so wonderful. I had to bring my bike in for maintenance and Nicoletta was so attentive and friendly and got my bike in tip top shape in no time. This REI is right next to some great local coffee shops and breweries so you really can’t go wrong here
Nancy Ramsdell: Always top quality and helpful personnel.
ambassador smudge: nice place to get some gear.Since 1938, we have been your local outdoor co-op, working to help you experience the transformational power of nature. We bring you top-quality gear and apparel, expert advice, rental equipment, inspiring stories of life outside and outdoor experiences to enjoy alone or share with your friends and family. And because we have no shareholders, with every purchase you make with REI, you are choosing to steward the outdoors, support sustainable business and help the fight for life outside.
Sam Berry: Had a great experience buying climbing shoes and a harness here. Not a huge location so might not have the selection of some larger stores but everyone was super friendly and it had what I was looking for
Lisa: Small store but very pretty inside, like a boutique. But they signed me up for a membership without asking! They were not super knowledgeable.
Emily Heckel: This is a (beautifully designed) T-shirt and water bottle store. I wouldn't really call it an REI. Came in looking for liner gloves and trekking pole baskets and they don't stock either. In fact, they barely stock any gear at all, and this is on purpose. They do have a few cycling items I think, and a comically tiny climbing section that I have to assume is only there for aesthetic purposes. The target demographic seems to exclusively be cyclists and people who wear overpriced Patagonia to brunch. The staff were super nice and they were knowledgeable about the items I was looking for (just didn't have them). They seemed quite used to responding to customers' confusion about the store. I think they should rename the store, or make it more clear online that this isn't a true REI as most of us know it. Overall, it felt a bit like being in a gallery - they display (limited) gear in an attractive way, but they intentionally don't stock it. Seems very focused on the aesthetic over the practical, which clashes with the brand concept. I can't think of a reason why someone would go to this store on purpose. I ended up driving to Reading and finding everything I needed, and I guess I'll be doing that moving forward. It's unfortunate, I live in Cambridge and I would shop here all the time if it was a real store and not a display window.
Mike Alexandersen: Google shows this as "camping store", but when i went in there, they said "this location doesn't have a camping department; were actually the smallest store in the coop." Sigh, pointless.
Amit Bergman: Nice and knowledgeable employees
Jeffrey Alperovich: This is not your typical REI! It’s a solid REI shop and had some great sale items, but the selection of everything is limited just due to the nature of the store size/location. Still recommend REI to all just set expectations accordingly! Staff were friendly and helpful as always
Christian Torres: Excelente servicio. La atención fue bastante buena. La chica que me atendió, me dio una buena asesoría. Lo recomiendo mucho.
Carrie Cole: Fantastic store! Beautiful, big, nice layout, very friendly and helpful staff. That area is really changing and that's a great addition.
Edson Lacerda (Ed): Customer service at this store in Cambridge MA,is TERRIBLE, I waited forever for someone, figured out on my own, went fitting 2 climbing helmets, then finally a guy came asking “did you take the tag out” harshly almost accusing me of doing it so, and just left. So did I 😞Very first time I’ve been treated so bad at REI store, this is the first and last time I come to this one!Meanwhile Framingham, which is my actual main store is AWESOME,It’s totally the opposite, doesn’t even look like it’s the same chain ☹️
Diot Sébastien: The store was good and the staff was helpful. However this store does not stock most of REI's merchandise and it's painfull to search on the website if they have my size for each shoes.I wanted to buy a very common pair of climbing shoes but I have to try differents size, they don't have any stock in 150 miles around ... My only way to go through is to order each shoes that I want to try : 199$ each ! (which is already very expansive).Big no for me.
Petal Niles: Had trouble with a gift card and staff was incredibly kind and patient in finding a solution! They also offered good advice on winter coats and had a small but nice selection of items on the floor
Swabarna Mukherjee: Customer Service. Love them. Went there to exchange an Arcteryx Shell which I bought last year but it was one size bigger than I wanted and have been thinking of getting one size smaller.Procrastinating for months, yeah I know, I finally made the trip only to find out it was just 3 days that 1 year passed. Damn I was sad however the manager honored it. They are excellent. Walked me through the steps and did whatever neededand they helped me put in an order. The site is new and parking is tough however the area is undergoing construction. Hoping to seethe area complete with all the construction done. Newer location nearer to my place and well they have a lifelong customer thanks to their excellent service.
Nicholas Manning: Does NOT stock camping gear, which REI is known for.
Richard Salmonsen: Really great staff! If they do not have what you need in stock they very nicely order it for you
Sebastian K: Don't waste your time coming here. Really limited selection and staff was rude/disrespectful on top of it. I've never been treated so poorly.

Charles River Canoe and Kayak: Cambridge, Kendall Square: what do users think?
Reyhan U: not a tourist trap. bit pricey but def worth it. views from the charles river is amazing.
Euro Leon: Great service and fun place to go with friends
Laura von D: I hope the kayak boat could be more clean….and hope they empty the water in the boat after each use….
Christian Roman: Kayaking is about is good as kayaking gets once you leave behind the most rude staff even by Boston standards. There’s nothing like having employees openly talk bad about you and be condescending. If I could leave negative stars I would, do yourself a favor and don’t go here, listen to the other negative reviews
Cassidy Burk: My fiancé and I rented a tandem kayak through the team at Paddle Boston this past weekend and had a great time! The check in process was very straightforward and only required us to watch a short video regarding safety and rules before signing a waiver and getting out on the river! The views were incredible and the experience felt very safe. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun way to see the city skyline from a new angle!
goutham shetty: I suggest you buy the Annual membership. It’s totally worth it.
Mark: It was nice experience. Expensive, but nice
annmarie nagelin: It was a great day on the river. It was an extremely hot day, but there were plenty of kayaks available. The people working were efficient and kept the line moving.
Kim Fournier: Love it! Was there the last 2 weekends. Easy process. Reasonable price. Paddling the Charles is breathtaking. Free on street parking on Sundays.
John F: Wonderful Kayak rental. The area is beautiful, and the staff are very helpful. My friend left her keys in our kayak, and they were able to find them for her. I hope to go again soon
Belle T: We were super lucky to have Lori as our Sunset & City Light Tour trip. She guided us well and informed us interesting information about Boston. In addition, the sunset 🌅 was SPECTACULAR!!! It was a great trip for both me and my friend who just moved to Boston!**Do note that even though this is a 1.5-2hr trip, you are paddling to get moving! So, it’s a good intro and workout for out-of-shape people like us!
Andrew Nagelin: Great location on the Broad canal.Plenty of kayaks and they were busy on a hot Saturday afternoon
James Galinas: The kayak experience itself is great & the price is affordable. My 1 star review is simply about the customer service. My parents are in their early 70's and were in town and wanted to challenge themselves to kayak the Charles (admirable!). Needless to say, with their age, it was not easy for them to get in and out of the kayaks with bad hips/legs/etc.My mother was having trouble getting out of the kayak and ended up rolling out of it onto the deck when one of the workers quipped - "we call that the beached whale technique" and started laughing at her expense.About as inexcusable as you can get.
AJ 1776: Had an amazing day here. Well run with helpful staff.
Sierra Bravo: Perfecto para pasar el día, el precio por el Kayak es adecuado.A veces suelen hacer descuentos
Himalaya Kilaru: I have been here a few times . The view is amazing . Staff is friendly . Would be visiting again for sure .
g zeynep: Rude staff
shriti jaiswal: We doubted if we would get any rentals since it was walk in. Plenty of rentals available. Neat and well maintained equipment and staff. We could quickly get on with our kayaking. The kayak was stable and good quality. Had a lot of fun. The view during the kayak was incredible. You can see most of the Boston skyline.
Nate Cole: I've been here a couple of times before and there hasn't been any problems but their service has been consistently degrading every single time. The workers are not very helpful, rude and seem untrained to do basic tasks. The check-in process is long and they do not do a good job of explaining things to beginners (I had several of my friends who never kayaked but were shocked at how unfriendly the staff was). If you're reading this, there are better places in Boston that will charge you less and treat you better, go there!
L Zsolnay: Absolutely beautiful thing to do after work while the sun is setting. We had a great guide. Very special.
Hank Cooper: A really nice kayaking experience. Prices are ok. The check in process is a bit confusing at first but straight forward afterwards.

Urban AdvenTours: what do users think?
Francis Labelle: A great way to visit Boston and exercise at the same time. Our guides Bob and Austin were very friendly and knowledgeable. They presented the history of the city as we rode through several neighborhoods. They also gave us good advice on what to visit next during our trip. I highly recommend booking a tour with them!
Amber Evans: Very good and enthusiastic staff (Austin). A great way to see the city. Book directly through their website, support small business.
CR: Austin did an awesome job leading our tour. He was friendly, informative and kept everyone safe. I thought it was a fabulous way to get an overview of the city before deciding where to spend too much time. I felt like I saw so much. This tour only had a few hills so many people should consider it. It did take us 2.5+ hours to get through it all but luckily we finished near restaurants.
Kyle Rhodes: Just finished this tour and it was great! Austin was our tour guide and was very friendly, funny and full of histirical info that made this one of our favorite things to do in Boston. Definitely a high point of our vacation here.
Terry O'Leary: My family had a great time on the City View tour with Bob and Ken as our guides. They were knowledgeable and accommodating. It was a great way to show our kids (17, 15, 13) the city, visiting all the main neighborhoods. I highly recommend this tour.
Micah Wood: We rented two e-bikes for 24 hours and easily biked 30 miles. A great way to explore the city on your own terms. We saw MIT, Harvard, and the other university areas on the north side and made the trek to the Samuel Adams brewery on the south side. Also toured the harbor area a bit.
James Kirk: Seemed like a legit bike rental service. But definitely had some issues with a mountain bike rental. The first issue was with booking online. I accidentally chose my pickup date as a day before I was actually showing up to grab the bike. I explained this to them when I arrived for pick up and instead of being understanding of a simple browser mistake they charged me an extra $20 because “ by choosing that date you took the bike out of availability” when in reality I called their shop to check on bike availability and someone from the shop told me they had their whole fleet available. I get the logic of this policy but it seemed like they used it to take advantage given the fact I wasn’t really taking a bike off the table for someone else.An employee on the phone also made it seem like the renter can go in and see the fleet of bikes and make a choice. When I got there they had brought up a bike from the basement and said this is what they had. Not a huge deal but different from what the website and the employee referenced. It was a good bike but wasn’t outfitted with proper tires for New England terrain. This should definitely be a consideration when renting out mountain bikes where the tires are so crucial. It seems like a great place to book guided tours where the customer service is up front and center.Still had a great time with the bike but would not be where I would go again for a Mountain rental for sure.
Justin Earl: Great experience. We did the city bike tour led by Gary, and were very impressed with the ride. The bikes are comfortable, and we felt very safe on the ride. Really good way to see lots of Boston and learn from intelligent locals about some of the history and present day stories.
T Smith: Fun tour, good guide. Nice way to see the city.
Brian Trout: Place is legit.!
Helen M: I’m so glad I took this tour. Boston is a bike- friendly city and both guides seemed very knowledgeable. I wish they offered more tours!
Nick Godfrey: Great experience. Help me out and did not charge me. Granted, simple fix, but invaluable. Thanks v much!
Kelly Carling: Our family of six from ages 6 to 14 plus two adults had an amazing time. Unforgettable! Our guide Gary was super friendly and knowledgeable.
Maren Cupit: Had the BEST experience with a bike rental today! Mino took care of our son’s busted up knee after a nasty fall along the river. Being from out of town, we were incredibly grateful for stellar customer service. Aside from the first aid, the rental experience was great and gave us an adventure we’ll never forget!
Alfonso Rubio: Alex H. Was a Amazing guide. Thank you for a wonderful evening and all your knowledge and insights into are capital.
Cybil Jones: Our family of 7 (children ages 5, 8, 11, 13 and 16) did the Tour de Boston yesterday with Michelle and Charles and had a GREAT time! We would highly recommend this tour with children, young and old, as a great way to get an overview of Boston, a little history and a lot of fun on bikes! Thank you Urban Adventures for a fun memory of our time in Boston!
Tom Evans: Great tour guys thanks so much. Best way to see Boston! Super safe, Knowledgeable and fun.
Shane: Enjoyed a great tour of the beautiful city of Boston, with Bob as our guide. Highly recommend!
Kevin Wallis: Staff is friendly and helpful. I found the prices a little high, but the bikes worked great. Great brand Kona bikes are used for most rentals. We biked to Fenway, Freedom trail, and many other places for the day.
Brandon: Fantastic service
Michelle Pearse: This was definitely one of the highlights of our Boston vacation. It is always so fun to be able to explore a new city on bikes. Our tour guides, Bob, Pell, and Ken were able to navigate our large tour group through the crowded Boston streets with expertise and humor. After the tour, they gave great recommends for lunch. The food from Paulie’s on Salem Street was out of this world! We would definitely recommend this to everyone heading to Boston.

DICK'S Sporting Goods: what do users think?
Matthew Capobianco: Terrible customer experience. Little to no help with little experience. In order to sell a 200 shoe you need to have someone that can field the most basic questions which they lack completely.
Molly Pratt: Service in the shoe section was very poor. If there is no way for customers to grab sizes then there should be more than one person to help.
T R: This location is my favorite it’s always organized and has lots in stock. Staff is always kind and helpful. My family and I enjoy this store.
Sonya Owens: Awful customer service.....on the phone for 20mins because they said it's that busy. Get to store and there are lots of workers aimlessly walking around passing the buck they will find someone. Awful just Awful and it's not even crowded.
Eazy: Place is an absolute dump
Jason c: store Always tries to close earlier about 8:48pm ish then whats told on google and website. Just was too pleasant when you drive 1hr to get here. Also the manager's there are very unprofessional!! Be aware, I would think cooperate should look into who they hire as head manager's. Trying to give my honest opinion as I don't often write reviews ! Thanks and will never recommend this location!
Samir Sell: Melhor loja de esportes.
John G: So this guy Nolan was so so helpful! He actually went to the back inventory to find me exactly what I was looking for. Wow! This place I awesome they always have what I need and people like Nolan really make things super easy
Alfred Anzalone: , store is closed at 8:40PM. Unfortunately can’t give a good store rating if I can’t shop at the store when they’re supposed to be open.
Waldo Emerson: The managers were rude and the store was a mess. I couldn’t get one person to help me
Ryan Couture: Lied about hours made me spend a 50$ on uber. Dotn trust these people!
Miranda Pearce: I had low expectations when I first went there because it seems like a big chain, but the staff were knowledgeable and helpful and I was totally won over. They were sort of under staffed, but that is common right now.
Walter Stred: Very well stocked store, and the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Michael Bessler: Great people make this store so good
Barry Lee: Awesome selection and very organized.Prices are not always the lowest but convenience is probably the reason for that.
Mark J: Pretty good sporting goods retailer. Wish they put prices directly on the merchandise. There is often confusion because items can be stocked in the wrong shelf location where prices are displayed. That's my only complaint.Staff is courteous and helpful.
MA Rahman: it’s a lot of pretty inner things that seem to see it is Very beautiful
Rich Marino (Rich): Nice selection of saltwater and freshwater fishing tackle & accessories. Be prepared to spend some time here compared to Walmart. Definitely has some premium offerings versus cheap grade only. By the time you shop online and pay for the shipping you might as well just go in-store. Convenience and in-store see-it-in-person shopping at old site of the Meadow Glen Mall in Medford. Bought some nice Blue Label Seaguar 30 lb fluorocarbon leader. Happy.
Tom Demeo: Had to return sneakers very quick and efficiently
saheli das: Do not waste your time going here. They don’t have anything you’d be interested in and the store is really understaffed. It felt like they were doing me a big favour when I asked them for literally anything.
Morgan Bertram: Staff was helpful stock was limited and to much space was used on strictly men's equipment

REI: what do users think?
Adam Barney: Great store. Wonderful staff and products and being a coop makes it even more special. They also will validate parking 😎
V M: Really love REI in general. And I’m happy one is here in Fenway. The workers at this location are very helpful and friendly. I shop here maybe twice a month. My only critique is I wish they had more products in store. Given the in-store inventory, I find myself buying online a lot. That means I am guessing a size, which is not ideal.
Stephen Craft: Awesome store, especially the bike shop
Traveler: There are better urban REIs.2023: Parking now $10. Don't order here for pickup. From 2019:Online order pickup is frustrating as you have to pay for parking, even just to pick up an item. There is not short term parking whatsoever. Validated parking is $5 up to an hour, $8 up to 2 hours.Be warned, the garage clearance is quite low.
Marc Shafer: I have been looking for a specific pair of Burton Infinium Oven Gloves, and I had taken to calling Burton stores around America. The folks at the Boston store knew exactly what I wanted and knew they had one pair in stock. They took my order and shipped my gloves that day. Fabulous customer service...I am so appreciative.
Becky Lynch: I was looking for new boots and the staff was very friendly. They asked if I needed help and had good recommendations. Staff at register was nice too. Definitely take the T or walk. There is no parking.
Sofia Theodorou: Worse place ever do not even think to biy anything from them. They will try to sell you a membership and say they give you bonus card but they will miss to say it expires. They have zero customer service. I paid 90$ for shoes that would cost 50$ and did not even have money for this expense. I explained my concerns to the workers but she still managed to extract me 90$. Unethical pieces of animals.
Roosevelt Jefferson II: The staff was very friendly and helpful. Love coming to this store.
Daniel Harlow: This was a great REI, and the people who work there do a great job, but the parking lot was closed for construction and the streets nearby are always full so it is now essentially impossible to park. This is a pity, as we now have to go to a different location.
James Fiala: Love REI
Laura Shanks: I am absolutely disgusted with the management and staff of this store. Several staff members recently petitioned to have a DISABLED MILITARY VETERAN FIRED from this store location because they were UNCOMFORTABLE with his DISABILITY. Rather than supervisors having a conversation with all staff to address the solution they took the easy way out and fired him. This location is currently under investigation by Disability Rights Massachusetts. Please boycott.
Jason Courtemanche: Great selection
Kapil Ashok Hariyani: Best outdoor store with outstanding 👏 customers care store in entire AMERICA CONTINENT
robyn b: Great store but you have to get the building to rid of the parking attendant outside.Had to quickly drop off daughter to get a sensor removed which was left on and he was scary abusive and upsetting.
Rian Dalton: Frequent customer to this REI, due to their consistently great and friendly service!
I-y H: I am really disappointed in this place. their bike shop staff installed my pedals without the m4 pedal pins. Not sure if this is due to lack of professionalism or they divided to keep my pins. really upsetting experience here.......
Brent Lowry: Still giving a five-star rating even though I could not find lightweight waterproof tarps.
Liv Burns: Got the best service today from the bike shop – I'd purchased a gravel bike over a month ago and was having trouble shifting gears due to some finicky cable tension. The guy who worked on my bike with me went above & beyond, and worked super fast to get me back on the road.
Paul G: This site seems smaller than a normal store, though still well stocked. Two stars though since this location is in a building with $10 validated parking. REI could've done better. If you don't mind the parking or can walk there, it's not bad.
Austin Coffin: Great outdoor store in downtown Boston. Awesome selection of hiking, biking, and boating supplies and a huge selection of clothing. Parking is $10 with validation.
Jesse Kennedy: Staff is always so friendly and helpful.
