Dance Complex: what do users think?
Kyle Johnson: Not so hidden gem
Duckenson Castel: So much have changed here. Recently started taking classes and I love it. Bathroom are kept clean, it's super easy to take classes here. You do have to sign in with the instructors online or walk-in and pay in person. Would absolutely recommend you create an account on mind and body, follow the in-person schedule and go from there. Majority of the studios are very spacious as well. The staff is super awesome and amicable, which makes you want to keep coming back. And I love how they started incorporating mindfulness practices before/during majority of the classes. And a wide variety of dance genres and cultures.Overall great experience, love this place.
Phil Cohen: Dance Complex is awesome. Try capoeira
Kirsten Williams: Positive:Professionalism,Quality
Sarah B - she her: Positive:Communication,QualityWelcoming, inclusive dance studio in the heart of Cambridge. Instructors are qualified, skillful dancers and encouraging teachers. I always feel safe to push past my comfort zone here.
Gustave Laflare: Critical:ProfessionalismThis place is stealing people’s money and refuse to refund your money. AVOID GOING THERE!
Lisa Fusaro: Amazing so much fun. Natalie was awesome. Thank you so much
Londyn Korol: Reminds one of stereotypical, old fashioned dance studios with winding wooden stairs and exposed brick. Lovely building. A couple weird spots in the Studio 3 floor but nothing crazy. Easy to find, bike rack out front, lots of street parking.
brian cooper: Positive:Communication,Professionalism
Shanelle S: Three-floored community with a variety of dance classes. Came here on a Saturday for an impromptu Samba dance class at 1:30pm. It’s just one stop away on the red line from Harvard, so it’s a convenient option for students. It’s $15 for the samba class, but they’ll take cash and credit card. There’s a Santander right across the street if you need an ATM, since some of the classes are cash only. Note for Bank of America cardholders, there is a $3 ATM fee. There is a gender neutral bathroom availableThe 1:30-3pm Samba class was super fun. It was my first time doing Samba, but the teacher was super energetic and there are plenty of other beginners so you don’t have to feel awkward. You can put your stuff on the right hand side along the wall, and there’s plenty of mirror space so you can watch yourself shake it. There were people of all ages and it was good vibes all around. It started with a warm up and then payment, and then the actual Samba class. There was even a live band that played while we danced. At the end, there was a dance circle and everyone left sweaty but happy. The dance center overall is a cool spot and you can try out a number of different dance styles and classes no matter what age you are. I noticed on the bulletin board they have kid classes as well.
Tonya Lockwood: “ Afro Flow yoga is lit.” Andrew, 11 years old.
Rocephin W: The staff was very friendly.
Rohan Patel: Great location but not really great from inside.Good:1) the location. Right into Central square connecting to bus and train.2) price and classes: thrle salsa class I got deal on Groupon had 50% off and the instructor is super amazing.Bad:1. The entire building is super old. Not enough space for crowd waiting for next class, the bathrooms smells worse than public restrooms. And changing rooms are joined with those smelly toilets.2. Noise: People out from other classes are totally inconsiderate of other classes going and make so much noise that almost impossible to listen to your instructor. Sadly management doesn't care about it3. Building quality: building is not meant for dance classes as the windows shake due to dancea going on a floor above you and the noise of footsteps are completely distracting. Will I consider going for a class next time?Yes. If I get 50% off deal then I will.No. If I am paying good amount of money for the classes.
Mahala Burn: I find that the Dance Complex feels like the local community centers of my childhood- a bit ramshackle, but very functional for its purpose and full of friendly people of all ages, shapes, and backgrounds. It serves in a way an Equinox would never want to. Over the years, I've taken Haitian, West African, Nia, and Modern here and felt I was in a safe and supportive environment to move and express myself. The instructors are widely varied yet consistently skilled and inclusive, and for most classes there is great flexibility for dropping in when you are able given challenging work or personal schedule demands. I would definitely recommend if you feel you are lacking in community and/or need to find a place to move without judgement.
T: Amazing...full of culture good people and fun
Jenna Sunshine: The Dance Complex is great! They're a nonprofit organization that's really into keeping performing arts alive. It's a big place with a great vibe. There's a very comfortable down to earth atmosphere, and although there are advanced dancers there, you can be brand new to dance, and/or be older or heavier and you WON'T feel awkward there. Most of the classes and students are beginner to intermediate. There's a huge variety of classes offered there & you can view the class schedule on their website. Most of the class rooms are rented out by the hour to various instructors or companies, so you'd most likely be paying the instructor or their assistant. I point this out because people frequently ask why they can't sign up online. So the instructor is renting the room, and the students are paying the instructor, NOT the Dance Complex. I suggest you look at their schedule online and if you see a class you're interested in, click through to the description and you'll see how to sign up and whether a class is drop-in or session based. If the class you're interested in is a drop in class, then don't worry about the logistics of signing up & paying in advance, just show up, bring cash with you, and the instructor or their aide will help you & get you all set up. If you have any interest in dance but you're nervous because you have no experience, then THIS is the place to go! If you are new to dance, don't worry, you won't walk into a scary environment with professional dancers everywhere looking at you; instead you'll see many beginners, and people of all different sizes, races, ages and no one there is judgemental. Dance on!
Pasqualino Ferralis: Excellent dance school of various genres, excellent teachers
Stephanie Ruiz: I don't hate it or like it i love it
Yi-Hsin Lin: Great place to learn dance. The atmosphere is very laid back. You just show up and pay the teacher directly. Sometimes the price is a little different than what's stated on the website though.Every teacher has been very friendly and supportive, even if it turns out their class isn't the right style/level for you. Classes seem to have regular crowds attending, so the class does progress over the course of the semester while remaining friendly to drop-ins. Highly recommended!
Peter Galvin: The nexus of dance in Boston/Cambridge. Love the classes and the dance community centered here. It's a gem of life in the city.
Adee C: Idk why someone said that the bathrooms small cuz it doesn't and is actually SUPER neat. Everyone is really nice and supportive. The classes are killers! Totally recommend~👍

Q Ballroom: what do users think?
R M H: I watched the hosts and admissions people be stunningly rude, insulting, and snobbishly unprofessional to several guests. If you just want to have fun and learn this might not be the place for you.
Adrian Obleton: My wife and I had a wonderful experience taking a private ballroom dance lesson at this studio. It was our first time trying any kind of ballroom dance, and our instructor Stas was fantastic. He patiently taught us the basic steps for Salsa, Rumba, and Foxtrot, and we had a lot of fun in the process. We're already thinking about coming back for more lessons. Highly recommend this studio and Stas as an instructor!
Glenn Webber: Fun dancing
Meghan Lynch: I have taken a handful of ballroom dances lessons in Massachusetts and other spots around the USA, and Q Ballroom is hands down the absolute best. Every staff member is wonderful and the instructors are equally passionate and insanely talented. This is your best option for a ballroom studio if you are looking to take classes just for fun, to become a competitive ballroom dancer, or to learn some basic skills for your wedding first dance. If you are about to get married you have the option of taking a private lesson or participating in one of their wedding workshops! I absolutely love Stas's teaching style and Q Ballroom's tiered level system so you can keep improving & taking classes in a group setting with all new steps. I have completed Level 5 & Level 6 so far and plan to be back again as soon as my musical theatre show season finishes up or aligns with the class schedule. Q Ballroom is the best of the best and I can't recommend them enough!
Monire Jalili: Great place to fall back in love with dancing.
Harrison James (Htrom): Boston Swing Central is awesome! Thank you for running these events!!
Daniel Peralta: Me encanta este lugar para prácticas de tango
Kris C.: Despite the crowded location, Q Ballroom was a great studio for my fiancee and I to take private lessons for our upcoming wedding. We worked with Helle who was super helpful and friendly. In 5 lessons we felt prepared! But all of the instructors we encountered oozed experience and professionalism. The interior is nice and clean, although during peak hours you might need to share the floor with several others as there is only a single but large space for dancing. Price wise they are comparable to other studios we looked at in the area.I highly recommend Q Ballroom and will likely return for more lessons in the future!

Fresh Pond Ballet: what do users think?
Jenn Segawa: Fresh Pond Ballet is a wonderful studio, and I cannot recommend it enough. I've taken classes at other studios in the area, but found my home at Fresh Pond Ballet with Nina Rubenstien Alonso for the last 3 years. There is a sense of family among the students and parents. The class atmosphere is fun, friendly, and not overly competitive. The classes are challenging, but still emphasize strong basic technique. My favorite thing about the Fresh Pond Ballet is its philosophy, which is rather unique for a ballet studio. Nina imparts an appreciation of music, movement, and dance to her students, but understands that most will not go on to be professional dancers. Her students shine as dancers but also in academics, sports, music, etc. To this end, dancers are trained with strong technique that is still safe and healthy (e.g. not forcing turnout to 180 degrees). I have also noticed that all body types are embraced, and students have very healthy body images (sadly, a rarity in the ballet world). It has been fun and rewarding for me to dance at Fresh Pond Ballet, and in the future, my husband and I can't wait for our children to take classes as well!

Moves & Vibes Dancing Academy: what do users think?
Emily Paron: Best dance studio in Massachusetts. I have learned so much dance styles and have not only gained friends- but people whom I can call my family. A great, upbeat and friendly environment that demonstrates a safe space to learn and grow , whether you're starting out as a beginner or intermediate. There's always something new to learn. 10/10 recommend!
Linda Pettway: The dance center overall is a cool spot and you can try out a number of different dance styles and classes no matter what age you are
Zaya Amgaabaatar: Very friendly staff!
Jeff Connor: Inna was our dance instructor for our first dance at our July wedding. Truth be told, my (the husband) dancing experience was no more than moving to the beat (and not spilling my beer) at college and house parties (my wife has been dancing well for years). Inna was patient, funny, and got me into a position where I felt comfortable (and couldn’t wait) for the first dance. We enjoyed our first dance and it went by smoothly. We recommend her to anyone (especially those with two left feet!!)
Brian Cox: Inna is amazing! My fiancé and I booked a private lesson with Inna to prepare for our wedding. She was quick to respond and flexible in booking. The lesson itself was exactly what we were looking for. Neither of us are dancers so we weren’t looking for anything too complicated. Inna taught us simple, but elegant steps that look good and are in our skill level. She made us feel comfortable and confident to do the dance for our big day. Inna was patient and kind and I’d highly recommend her!
Allan Baumer: Went here to learn how to dance for my wedding. I think we grew a lot. I had just about zero experience going into it, but after a few lessons we got the movements down.
Masha Amelina: Best sensual dance school in Boston hands down! Classes are so much fun and teachers are awesome!
HKF Construction: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Daniel Mirabito: Positive:Professionalism
Monica Andrade: We were recommended by a friend who recently got married and had Inna as their dance instructor and she was great. Very patient. AJ and I have no clue how to dance and she made it seem like we knew what we were doing! Everyone was shocked it only took us five weeks to learn our dance. I would definitely recommend Inna to anyone getting married and looking for dance lessons!
Carlos Sales: Show de bola...o salão de dança com o professor Carlos. A comida precisa melhorar...mas isso é responsabilidade do clube.

Rumba Y Timbal Dance Company: what do users think?
Víctor CE: Awesome dance studio. I have been dancing bachata here for over a year now and I couldn’t be happier with my progress. Shout out to the great instructors!
Santiago Quintana: It's an amazing place with incredible coaches and a enjoyable vibe. Great for all levels.
Roda Haway: My wife and I were looking for a Dance studio so we can learn how to Dance Salsa and we were so happy we found Rumba Y Timbal Dance Company .We were welcomed to a great dance family and community . The instructors Roberto , Liliana and Carlos were so supportive and we new this was the place we felt at home . We fell in love with classes we were driving to Cambridge four times a week from the suburbs . Now how salsa and bachata is taken to a great level .We recommend this amazing Dance studio to anyone wanting to learn Salsa in an amazing environmentThank You Rumba Y Timbal Dance Company !!
Perry Wasserbauer: Great teachers, great community of people. They have classes for Salsa and Bachata
Flor Orosz Hunziker: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueThis is a great community of caring, excellent and dedicated professionals!
Pierre Jockers: One of the best salsa/bachata schools in the country. Very far above anything else in the Boston and Cambridge area (I have done them all).Great instructors, strong emphasis on technicals, presence of curriculum for every class, flexibility of schedule (classes twice a week) all make progression very fast. Most people who joined got a good level after ~6 months. Also good leader/follower ratio (~50/50 for pretty much all classes - not the case in many other schools, where there are traditionally more leaders, which means leaders learn much less). Also a great community - I feel I have always been treated as a student or a friend, never as a customer.
sushrut palatkar: I started learning salsa with them 2 years ago and have'nt stopped since. I used to dislike dancing before that. The instructors are helpful and the student community is amazing.
Edana Martin: It is great
Derek Clifford: This is a great studio. The hall is clean, well lit and has a great sound system. All the teachers are very good and are amazing dancers who inspire. There is a great atmosphere at Rumba Y Timbal!
Janice - Jaycee McCullough: Always wanted to learn Salsa and 6 months ago my son agreed to be my dance partner (yes, I bribed him), so we signed up with Rumba Y Timbal for the beginner class. We absolutely loved it. After just two months of lessons I was dancing at socials with confidence. Due to my son getting a new job and he had to stop, I lost a dance partner but no biggie for there is always someone to dance with at Rumba Y Timbal and the staff is awesome. If you're not getting a specific move they are there to practice with you after or before class. If you want to learn salsa and you want to feel confident in social settings Rumba Y Timbal is the place to be.
Mei-Chen Liao: I have done zumba for three years. I felt that the workout is good but always wanted to get more dance part. Then I started to join in Rumbatimbal for beginner classes. The main director-Roberto was so passionate and the other dancers are all very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere there is fun and happy. Later, I was eager to learn more sophisticated parts such as lady’s styling or lady’s choreography. Recently I just join the student performance team. I am so excited that I improve so much in short period of time and can’t wait to get on stage in the future.

Belly Dance with Seyyide ONLINE: what do users think?
Julia Sullivan: I’ve been studying belly dancing with Seyyide for a few years now, and it’s been a fantastic experience! She is a fun, engaging, and informative teacher who makes each class entertaining. More than that, the focus on core strength, flexibility, and balance have helped with my arthritis and overall wellness. Great workout for both body and mind!
Elina Locane: Seyyide is a wonderful teacher whose classes always lift my spirit. Her passion for dancing is infectious and I always have a lot of fun. At the same time, she is also great at teaching the technical aspects of the dance in a very accessible and well-organized way.
Roxanne: I always had an interest in belly dance but I was never able to find a teacher in my area, I was so happy when I found Seyyide! As a person with anxiety she makes it so comfortable to be there and encourages you to do better. I am so happy to have found this class as to it gives me joy every week to go and dance with her. I am looking forward to many more sessions as to I’d like to get better at the craft and with her guidance I’m sure I can make it! Give her a try trust me!!
Alan: This is a nine year old talking. It is awesome, a great way of getting fit. Nice classes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced. I Recommend coming. I often watch the classes and the students have a lot of fun
Rin Yunis: Seyyide is an amazing teacher for a huge range of skill levels - even in the same class. She is capable of handling a wide range of disturbances and making the most out of the time given in classes. My technique improved a lot with only a few months of classes! Especially for new dancers you will learn a lot and your back will feel amazing thanks to the stretching warm ups and cool downs.
Karen Fraggos: Seyyide is a great instructor, lots of fun but also strict so you learn the moves correctly. You get a workout from head to toe!
Prachee K: I have been taking classes with Seyyide for over a year. She is an awesome teacher and a very talented dancer who has perfected her craft. Her classes are always fun with stretching and warm ups emphasizing proper posture followed by short dance sequences combining different elements of raqs sharqi (classical Egyptian style belly dance), with a focus on using good technique. An evening of Seyyide’s class always leaves me feeling refreshed and energized after a long day. If you want a nice work out while learning something new and enjoying Middle Eastern music, you will love this class.

Salsa Y Control: what do users think?
Nathalie Echeverri: I can’t speak highly enough of this dance company. I took salsa level 3 with Johnny & Kelly in Cambridge. They are professional, easy to understand, and made the environment welcoming and non-intimidating. You can tell they love what they do, and it’s a place to go simply to enjoy yourself. They choreograph different combos and I got a lot out of every class and made some new dance friends in the process.
Andreia Felisbino: They are more than instructors , they are positive role models who mentors . They lead and teach people to be the best that they can . If you give yourself a chance to experience it , you will feel what the movement can do to your soul .
Erius Houston: I attended their dance a month or so ago at the Dante Alighieri in Kendall Square. So many outstanding dancers! But I really had problems with the music. I learned to dance salsa on one, and I just could not lead to this music. So I asked some good leads to let me follow and they did. And that’s how learned, after so many years, to dance salsa on two. And I love it!Now I love to dance on two, but I struggle to lead. So I guess I will follow! Gracias, Salsa Y Control!
Andrea Amour: I have had an amazing experience working with Johnny. We have taken bachata, salsa, and "first dance" lessons with him over the last several years. Extremely friendly and an excellent dancer. I'd recommend him highly.
Katherine McCubrey: I did 2 sessions with Andres in Allston last year and it was great...I purchased a punch card to Drop-in but haven’t had the discipline to return. Been attending lessons/social/performances with Andres & his brother & Artem at Havana and Tavern in the Square and I ADORE IT!! Planning on returning to Allston studio to fine-tune technique.
David Resnick: Went to two of their beginner salsa lessons at The Dance Complex in Cambridge. On the plus side, I thought the instruction was pretty decent for a beginner lesson. On the minus side, about twice as many people who wanted to dance lead (largely guys) than follow. Paying $17 for a lesson where you are dancing without a partner half the time didn't appeal to me (a guy) so while I normally learn to dance lead in a new rhythm I decided to dance follow for my second lesson Turns out they have some homophobic twits in their class. Ironically for someone on the receiving end of that, I'm not gay (not that it should matter). I'm just not hung up on the gender of people i learn dance steps with. I told the instructor about my negative experience while signing out and paying. Think that telling me not to pay would be the least one might expect, but, well, apparently not. I'd guess my review would be quite a bit more positive if the lead/follow balance had been better and I had been leading. Certainly I'd discourage people from dancing in their lessons if not doing gender normed lead/follow dance roles. Or if the lead/follow balance isn't decent. Won't be back.
