Hemenway Gymnasium: what do users think?
Rajesh Rajagopal: Excellent facilities and has 3-4 floors: has lots of great equipment for leg day as well as arm day.The leg machine area has like 12 of each kind of machine you can imagine. The dumbbell area has a huge variety of dumbbells including 120lb pounds! It can get a bit crowded, but the best time to come 1-1.5 hours before closing time instead of at peak hours during the mid-day.
Alejandro Mancia: Nice place and clean
Michelle G.: For a gym its small, busy and awkward. I wish we had many more choices at Harvard but it is what it is! The staff is polite on some days but not on most. Gave it 3 stars for keeping it clean. Overall not to my liking and it could use a lot of help in staffing members for classes too.
Aisha K: Bruh why is it never open or open during the most random times. Harvard, do better. 😵‍💫
I-y H: a bit small and packed
Lori: Would be awesome if they enforced some of their rules. Students don't follow written guidelines,
Kit Parker: Ridiculous that Harvard's fitness facilities are typified by this place.Wellness is most certainly not a priority on this campus.
Christian Junge: Strange floorplan, but they made the most of a space that was adapted into a gym. Definitely a full featured gym, and convenient location for students living in grad student housing
Noora: Great gym, 3 floors, lots of cardio machines
Fabian L: Nice gym, gets very crowded some times...
Glenn Barclay: I’m surprised that Harvard doesn’t have a better gym for their students. Very crowded. Small. Not inventive or thoughtful in the design or creative in the workout areas. Harvard — you can do better for your students and staff. Nearly every station and machine had someone using it — and usually someone waiting to use it.
Jonathan Bauman: This is the campus gym to go to if you like to strength train. The QRAC is a step above a hotel gym and the Malkin is a serviceable alternative. If you don't do a lot of barbell movements the Malkin is better for the crowd size. You can deadlift here but you must wear shoes. There are enough squat racks most times of the day but be prepared to ocassionaly wait in line or work in with someone. Olympic lifting is banned at all campus gyms :(
Michael Evans: A pretty good selection of weights and cardio equipment. The only problem I have is that there is a serious lack of space to do freeweight and abdominal exercises. If you are new to the gym, I notice in the morning, it is more crowded very early (6 am to 8:30 am) then gets less crowded. I don't knke anything about after 10 am.
Shalhavit-Simcha Cohen: Great gym good people
Jorge Mendes: I like it
garima rai: Great staff. Very well equipped and extremely clean.
Jack Rizutko: I wish they had more/uniform squat racks. They have three, and all three are different, and the height adjustments on all three are juuuust big enough that there is no comfortable height for me to squat at. I am either on tip toes or going real low to unrack/re-rack. I've never run into that problem at any other gym, but they somehow have three different styles of rack where it's a problem.
Niranjana Natarajan: Great Harvard gym with modern equipment and facilities.
Manny M.: The gym is great love it. The best gym in harvard also prob the biggest one too since the others are on the small side. It does get busy in the afternoon but I rarely go after 1pm so it's best to wake up super early like 7am.. but overall great gym & greAt equipment gets the job done!
Chris Gerry: Clean, well-run facility packed with cardio and weightlifting equipment. Can get uncomfortably crowded during peak hours, so avoid early evenings.
Jasper van der Aart: Good gym, but often busy

Cambridge YMCA: what do users think?
Mark Cerutti: Great weights setup for powerlifting, Olympic lifting, or bodybuilding. They took old racquetball courts and just filled them with power racks, barbells, and dumbbells. Cardio equipment is pretty busy at peak hours. Overall the best value gym in the area by far.
Bruce Allen Sullivan: This place is low key Staff is always friendly always as they should be ..Other places there rude and don't like there job.. This place they want to work there ..Maybe it's something in the air ...5 star all the way
Rambler Elk: I recently visited Cambridge YMCA and overall had a decent experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist with any questions or concerns. The equipment was well-maintained and varied, providing ample options for a full-body workout. However, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the locker rooms, specifically the sauna and steam room. The tiles and surfaces were not properly cleaned and had an unpleasant odor, and the sauna was not operating properly during my visit. This negatively impacted my overall experience. In conclusion, while the staff and equipment at Cambridge YMCA were great, the lack of attention to cleanliness in the locker rooms was a drawback. I hope that improvements will be made in this area to ensure a more enjoyable and hygienic experience for members in the future.
Maryella Vitoria Lopes Costa: Front desk people are super nice and workouts are always fun.
Kim Hetrick: Love this gym! Classes are great and offered at a variety of times. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. There should be equipment for any workout you want to do. My only complaint is that the hours are less than ideal compared to before the pandemic. I believe this gym used to open quite early and close late - now on the weekends it's only open 8-4 and it closes at 9pm on weekdays, for the same cost of membership as before.
Zechariah Harris: Lots of character and plenty of good equipment. They recently changed their schedule and now close at 9pm M-Th which is very nice! Solid place to work out with a friendly staff.
Ishan Raval: Great experience snd highly recommended! The front desk staff helped me get setup in just a few minutes after giving a tour of facility. Gym machines are new and very well maintained. It can get a but crowded right after work hours but the size can surely handle it. The personal training staff is awesome as well. I got 4 classes from Chorobi Sagna and it was totally worth it. He helped me get better at my workout and also made a plan for me for next few months!
Charles Wyzanski: After the Harvard gyms effectively closed during the pandemic, I finally checked out the Cambridge Y. I am a veteran of too many sports clubs to name in Boston and Cambridge over the years. For someone now well beyond his prime (and likely others) this is the best! The exercise equipment is ample if not elaborate, the indoor rubber track undersized but easy on the knees, the pool while not the full 25 yards not too cold and most often with at least a lane available to share, the locker room and showers clean and ample, the staff invariably helpful and friendly, and the monthly cost, including a locker and two clean towels, very reasonable and the best around. I’m sure there are many classes and the like available, but I’m more than satisfied as is. I think so well of the place that I even make a modest charitable donation!
Emanuel Santa: They don't allow outside YMCA members
Shivam Patwari: One of the best gyms in Cambridge, with ample space for a workout, a big cardio area, heated swimming pool. Going here for the last five months, the trainers are also good.A couple of feedbacks, the gym closes at 8:00 pm; I feel it’s early compared to other gyms around; also, on weekends, it gets closed at 3:00 pm, so I had to take two gym memberships if I have to hit the gym at late hours.Be prepared for hunting metered parking spaces. Overall a positive experience apart from the two stated sissies.
Roman Madaus: They close way too early and blast Closing Time when it's time to leave every single day, which is absolutely obnoxious. You will come to loathe the song if you go in the evenings. Also overpriced and the pool is too full. The building design is strange and terrible. No noise reduction wall panels, so some of the lifting rooms are piercingly loud. Staff is great, and there is a sauna and steam room, so cheers for that.
Tyler Motes: I wanted to join here because of the pool and it’s very close to my house. I don’t feel save walking down to it now. Drugs are being sold between the Y’s location and the Post Office. I’ve been harassed and followed from that area. When I tried the gym, I also didn’t feel comfortable in the changing room and the pool schedule I learned, made it almost impossible to be able to use the pool. They also house homeless people and they use the showers. Which is what made me extremely uncomfortable in the locker rooms. I’m transgender, so safety in locker rooms is my number one concern when joining a gym. I wanted to use the pool, but it’s 100% not worth putting my safety at risk. Do yourself a favor and go to another gym!
Nicholas Schiavo: It's very unfortunate that The Cambridge YMCA has taken it upon themselves to disallow YMCA members from other gyms the ability to use their facility. They have been telling me for months that they have just not decided when that would be, leading me to useless weekly phone calls to check the status of their decision. It was never like this before covid and they have taken their precaution overboard. I did not wish to use my leverage as an employee for another branch but even when I told them this they said that I would still not be allowed, then saying that they could make an exception once or twice. I live on the area but am employed so thus have a membership with another Y. I do not know if what they are doing is even okay with the gyms policy as a whole.
Beth Redmond Walsh: If you want a gym membership for swimming take a close look at the pool schedule for times they have available for your age group, and the days and times of day its open. The pool is old and small and most of the time the schedule is jammed up. Absolutely NOT worth the $60 a month.
Caasi: This Cambridge YMCA does not accept other non-Cambridge YMCA memberships
Dillon O’Brien: very friendly staff, Nancy was super helpful getting me registered!
Tim Graham: Not apart of the YMCA organization and they do not honor a standard membership, need a special membership strictly through them
John M: Positive:QualityI like this place the employees are friendly and it has everything I need to stay in shape. Suggest for everyone of all ages
Michelle Deutsch: Positive:QualityNever thought to write a google review.. I teach a lot here, do PT, health coaching, etc. - still happy after many years of working here. Nice to see member reviews listed here also!
Paddy Cavanaugh: I absolutely love this place. The staff is wonderful, facilities well kept, and it's very affordable. Most of all the Cambridge Y has character. It's scrappy and democratic with a strong sense of communal identity you don't find at bland, fast casual 'luxury' fitness chains.
Ayo: Really lovely low key gym. Not crowded, I’ve gone various points in the day though never after work hours. Super super clean. Friendly staff constantly cleaning everywhere. Wipes everywhere and hand sanitizer. Lots of space and variety in equipment. Definitely can meet most workout needs. City Parking lot near by and street parking. Membership is affordable. Masks must be worn at all times except swimming and seems everyone does this. I feel safe here. Thank you Y.

Cambridge Rindge & Latin School: what do users think?
Oswaldo Ireta: Scool is good
maryam dar: I'm only a sophomore, but I already know I'm proud to be a Falcon. The majority of faculty at this school are world-class, and nowhere else will you find so many resources--whether it be 30+ clubs (and you can always start your own), volunteer or paid work through RSTA, amazing food at the Media Caf (for vegetarians), the Teen Health Center with free physical and mental health help, a free gym to go to before school, various organizations providing free tutoring, and much, much more. Most of the adults in this building genuinely care about you and want you to do well. I urge you to take advantage of your four years here, because nowhere else will you find such a welcoming, helpful, and diverse group of people. My only regret about this school is that it isn't a college, because I know I'll miss it greatly once senior year ends!
Rony Lubin: A good school and a wide selection of classes.
Angie Blankinship: Proud to have graduated from this High School. Friendly staff and teachers, always willing to help you whenever you needed help.
Sakib Asraf: Ayyy
Harry Greenblatt: 10/10 would school again
Scarleth Largaespada: I went to 4 different high schools & attended Ringe when I was a Junior, I was able to take extra classes to graduate a year early. The staff are all friendly & the environment in the school is so welcoming. Too bad I didn't start high school there. I loved it.
Sarah Harrison: i love it

Cambridge Athletic Club: what do users think?
Joseph Brassard: Been working out here since about 2019. Generally pretty happy with it. Helpful and available staff when you have questions or want your billing receipt. If you do want to cancel, there's a 2 month transition window but that's it: nothing like the big chain gyms.Five power racks are great, but during rush hour expect them all to be taken up. Like all gyms, there's an issue of people just sitting staring at their phone for 10 minutes between sets, doing nothing. Or super-setting half the machines in the gym. They have put up signs asking people to be respectful but I haven't seen any behavior changes in this.Going off hours is much less busy, but then you have to deal with the cleaning staff mopping right around your feet. Trying to squat when you have slippery floors isn't very safe at all, I've had to start getting a towel from the front desk to dry the floor to I don't kill myself. Cleaning staff should stay away from anyone using a squat rack, including the area near the sides where we change weights, otherwise it's just a slippery mess. The main negative and my reason for only four stars is access. Before COVID, we could walk right in the First Street or the Linksey Way entrance. During covid the building locked the Linksey way entrance, which is annoying as you have to walk around the block to the front. However, they eventually locked the front entrance, too. Gym members don't have access badges to the outside door, so we had to ring the visitor doorbell. That was annoying enough, but now they not only make you ring the door bell but have to speak to the security guard. The intercom is completely unintelligible and you have to shout 'I'm going to the gym!' to be let inside. Not a great experience during winter, or in the rain, since you are not covered. They really need to make getting inside easier. The gym is a tenant of the building, we should be granted come/go access through all doors without having to wait for security to buzz us in.
Lindsay Teliska: I recently joined this gym and I love it! They have a variety of machines/equipment and it never seems too crowded. A lot of workout classes and access to squash courts, a basketball court, saunas etc come with membership. I also like the rewards program!
Mark Ceglio: Great gym with some excellent amenities! Always clean and not too crowded. Friendly staff. They offer a lot of deals and reward opportunities
Allison Looney: The facility at 215 First St. is roomy with lots of equipment, including a women-only studio, so I rarely have to wait to use any machine. Recently they've added new classes, so there are varied options for cardio, flexibility and balance exercises. The staff and other members are friendly and encouraging. With the help of my personal trainer weekly training sessions since December 2021 I've lost 35 pounds. I'm feeling good and I look forward to continuing to improve my health with the support of the CAC community.
Dan O'Connor: Been going here for a couple months. The gym is great - plenty of equipment, not too crowded, friendly staff. Can’t ask for more in a gym
yang hu: Small but compact gym with 5 power racks and two weightlifting platforms, which are very nice. I go to CAC during rush hours but always can find a rack. They allow me to use chalk! It is a big bonus to me, maybe it is the main reason I still go here even living far away from here.
Abigail Buckley: great facility for a reasonable price! the women's only fitness studio was a big sell for me
tommydoherty42: One of the best gyms in the area
Tushar Bahl: I came to this gym from June 2021 - July 2022. Only reason I left was due to moving to a new state. I wish I could still come to this place! It is incredibly well-kept and offers a lot to do. I came for weightlifting and they offered more than enough equipment for my desired goals, though they also offered squash, basketball, crossfit, and fitness classes. During peak hours between 5pm - 6pm the gym was busy, but you could get a squat rack or a deadlift pad within 5 minutes of waiting. I always saw someone pass by cleaning the floors, which was a nice touch, and cleaning wipes were always in a convenient reach. I had a great experience here and will miss it!
Biella Coleman: I had such HIGH hopes for this gym since it is right around the corner from where I live and has a great sauna. There are lots of good things about it but the woman's steam room is full of mold and it is right next door to the sauna. I am quite sensitive to mold so I am unable to join after trying out the day pass. I would consider if they truly fixed it by removing the tiles and cleaning the mold that is likely grown behind the tiles. I've never seen such a bad mold problem in a stream room before: it was smelly and visible. I am glad that fixing the steam room is in the fix list but it smelled musty and the black discoloration is often normal in the grout but it was beyond the grout and on the tile and that should wipe off. Mold is nothing to mess around with especially in basements and when there are ducts and vented air. I will certainly consider once the steam room has been fixed.
Andrew Ekladious: Amazing club, I usually go for squash and working out. The courts are great and they have enough equipment and good variety of machines. Recommend especially if you want a good gym to go to after work.
Ava French: The instructors & the equipment are great. Carla is the best. Wifi isn’t fantastic though
Mark DiRocco: Very clean and nice gym! I can tell they really care about their clients. Nice and quiet during off hours as well.
Michael Brazile: Great gym, plenty of space and machines. Wonderful friendly staff that also take the mask mandate seriously and enforce it. The majority of people follow the rules and wear their masks, but there's a minority that try and play games. Just flag these selfish jerks and management will be on them - a few people have had their memberships suspended for repeatedly unmasking. So if you've been someone concerned about returning to a gym due to COVID, CAC Anthenaeum is about as good as it gets.
Mark Winderlich: Positive:Communication,ProfessionalismGreat composition of basketball court, squash court, cross-fit box, gym and freestyle area! Friendly reception, great trainers. Very clean and no waiting times at fitness machines! Great place!
Farzaneh Khajouei: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality* It is clean and orderly, we usually see cleaning staff taking care of the environment* They have complete set of weight lifting equipments and cardio machines* Plenty of equipment and we never had to wait for anything
Frank Garrett: I love how I am always greeted when entering and farewelled on my way out.
Kyle Wiant: Great equipment, friendly staff, well-maintained.
Aly Dunnington: Staff are friendly and the equipment is consistently cleaned. This location has a great variety of equipment available, convenient location, and large locker rooms.
Mike Gould: Best gym to workout in the Kendall Square area! Equipment is up to date and clean. Love it here!
Lindita Veli: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
