Gymnastic Academy of Boston: what do users think?
Zuleida Herba: I've been with GABC since my daughter was about 4 yo. I wanted to say how impressed I am with the change since new ownership. The coaches are involved, the feeling is upbeat, the kids are happy, I see skills advancing. New owner is responsive to parents and physically on site. Summer camp director was GREAT, I hope she comes back. I'm glad we stuck around long enough to see things change for the better. Keep going GABC!
P Schmidt: May 2022- Do Not sign up for this location. Class sizes are huge, run by high school girls who are completely unprofessional, and classes are often started 30 - 40 minutes late. Just today our instructor, for a class of 18! Had to climb through the window to open the school. Don't bother calling anyone, there is no return of phone call or email. It's dangerous, your kids won't learn anything, and it's a huge waste of time and money.
Jacob Neiman: The coaches are the best thing about this gym! My two children love their classes!
Karen O’Leary: Our family loves GABC! My children have been going here for years, and I have seen a lot of improvement in management this past year and a half. Julia is my child’s coach, and the new manager, and my child absolutely loves her! She is very communicative with the parents and has taught my child so much. We are looking forward to starting pre-team soon and couldn’t be more excited!
Lydia Krebbs: We took my daughter here twice for the toddler classes and she had fun because it's a play gym but this place is extremely disorganized. None of the teachers could answers any of our questions we had. There is no organization about where the kids go when you come in since there are so many different classes going okay the same time. There wasn't anyone at the front desk so anyone can just come in and not pay if they wanted to. The website isn't very clear on what age group can come when. We also felt like the structure of the class was limiting. They weren't really allowed free play, the teacher just pushed the kids to do tricks. For a 2 year old class that's just not possible. They need free play. We were very disappointed and will be going elsewhere.
J W: Cindy and her team is absolutely amazing! Highly reccomend!
Teresa Chuang Emrick: Totally unprofessional and unorganized place. We came for an open gym and signed up for a free class trial. The owner had no idea of studio’s schedule and clueless of anything that is going on. She gave us a trial time, which I called to double confirm because it was different from the website. Turned out it was the wrong date and time and there was no class at all, while she insisted on the phone there was. The equipment is old and dated, some even seem unsafe. The place was dirty and old. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY & TIME with this gym!
Peter Russell: Agree with the poor reviews, especially regarding the experience of the staff and the overall disorganization of the operation. It made me super uncomfortable as a parent every time I went there. If you are a parent and live around Boston, you are blessed with choices for your kids to have enriching experiences. Why bother with a place that is second rate?
A V: Most disorganized gymnastics center I have come across
LaToya James: Great for kids of all ages!!
Alice Vu: Great place, coaches are super nice and helpful
Regiane Ribeiro: I would not recommend this place to anyone. They do not teach the children right. They are poorly organized. My daughter missed 2 classes for health reasons and when she returned she was not able to participate in the presentation. They told me that an email was sent but I never received an email. Do not put your children in this place. Now my daughter is in a gymnastic school in burlington and i am very pleased with the big difference.
Fab T: I confirm the place is run by non experimented staff... I was there when the accident happened during last year show and I saw it coming - the coach had a cast on her foot, and clearly couldn't secure the girls jumps !I am guessing she just wanted to help, but definitively there is a lack of security. Again recently, I could see girls jumping and landing on their heads and obviously one girl came to the coach complaining about her neck... after a little pat on the back from the coach, she was back in line ! Ok girls at this age are flexible, but I expect more professionalism from a gym place. Definitively I don't feel reassured after those events and I wish they had a real manager with training on security for their coaches as some of them are nice and very passionate.
Vassili V: I have never given 1 stars to anyone but this place would deserve negative ones. This review comes after 2 full year memberships for my 12 year old daughter. First of all the management is inexistent: front desk is constantly empty, phone line always on voicemail (messages never replied), no replies to emails. Most of the instructors are gone recently with no replacements and several kids and families were just sent home with no other notice, no word of excuse, no other options. Safety is inexistent as well: in 2 years we were never asked to buy insurance (that should be compulsory). In last year's gala one of the instructors collided with a student who had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance and the show to be cancelled (with no excuse-no follow up from anybody...). I also forgot to mention that it is far from cheap (for what it is...)In one word: Stay Away! There are a lot of excellent places in Boston and Cambridge that take instruction and safety much more seriously and at more competitive prices.
Laura Genatossio: My daughter has been going there for a few years now and she loves it. The staff is very friendly and the instructors really care about the kids. They have really made a difference in our daughters progression with her gymnastics. I would recommend this gym to anyone that is looking for a gymnastics academy.
Genesis Mczeno: I hope this is a good place
G. Car ol ina R 3 a L: The coaches seems to be inexperience, the only one that really knew what he was doing left sometime ago, they do not know how to work with kids (no pedagogy at all) and the place is clean, has free parking lot and it has a good location, however, I would never recomment this place to any of my friends.
Ronald McCoy: I like to do cartwheels
caryn mohan: As with all sports, your children get out what they put in. After one summer, our son had learned so much. It is a great summer camp. The staff is friendly, kind and great with the kids.
Beth Costine: My son started going to the summer camp at age 5. He loves it and asks to go back every summer for 3 years now. The coaches work with him at his level and individually. My son particularly enjoys learning parkour moves.
mel N: I'm giving this place 2 stars..1. The coaches for the little kids are very unprofessional, I think any teen ager who can do a round off or a cartwheel will make the cut to be their coach. The boys coach does not have control of any of his boys class, they seem like they are doing parkour and just goofing around 80% of the time.2. the class runs for an hour, They ALWAYS start late, and 30 minutes of the whole class they are on the second floor playing around on the foam pit and just doing nothing which my kid can do at home(LITTLE KIDS CLASS).3. They rarely try anything new, its been half way through the semester and my daughters been doing the same routine each time. NO PROGRESS is seen what so ever.4. I signed my daughter up for a class which only had 2 kids in it, next thing you know the coach goes missing and they mixed her class with a smaller age class, and she has not progressed at all. and until this day both classes have the same coach.DO NOT WASTE YOU PRECIOUS MONEY ON SOMETHING THATS SO OVERPRICED FOR THE POOR QUALITY OF THE COACHES.5. The gym is very clean, and it looks fairly new.. but the quality of gymnastics your little one will get, would be garbage.6. My daughters class had no coach for 3 weeks, the front desk assistants took over the class, and if i may say so it was such a waste of time even going..if the coaches can't do their job, neither will the front desk assistants with your little one.Overall experience hasn't been the best, I expected better coaching for a place like GAB, they make a good first impression, but my biggest complaint is, and will always be the coaches, the quality of the class, and the overall experience my daughters had. this will be my daughters first and last semester there, I will drive the extra 20 minutes touring her somewhere else. Another thing is while the gym is fairly "big" they squeeze in like 5 classes, and your little ones will get stuck either on the trampoline or the bars through-out the whole class, eventually moving them up to the 2nd floor playground to do nothing. THEY DONT PRIORITIZE LITTLE KIDS CLASS! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY IF YOU WANT YOUR KID TO REALLY LEARN!! I'm sure you can find a cheaper babysitter somewhere else because thats what your paying for at GAB for little kids.

TumbleKids Watertown: what do users think?
Monnyck Leal: My daughter loves!! Always have so much fun! ❤️
Josh Dolby: Super facility with really nice and helpful staff. The space is chock-full of different gymnastics/tumbling/etc equipment which the instructors lay out for different classes. For the Tumblebugs classes we attended, the instructors built mini obstacle courses to get the kids comfortable with different features - usually three different segments for use.Parking nearby is usually pretty easy, the space is clean, and the people are nice. Highly recommended.
Leah Cushing: My 7-year-old recently started at TumbleKids mid-semester. DeeDee was so helpful and accommodating in finding us the best class for her to join. My daughter was nervous going to a new place where she didn’t know anyone. But the coaches are all so friendly, fun, and welcoming. They made her feel completely comfortable and after her first class she was fully immersed and so excited to go back to each class she counts down the days. Her skills and confidence are increasing, and we are both incredibly happy to have her end up at this gym.
Jodi Kaufman: My daughter & my son take classes with Dee Dee at Tumble kids. They always look forward to class. Dee Dee has been nothing but accommodating. & helpful in explaining the world of Gymnatics!
Laura Antipov: I am a former competitive gymnast, and now my 6 year old daughter is showing interest in the sport. Given my background, I was pretty picky about what I was looking for. We tried two other local (well known) places first, however, I was less than impressed with those, so I thought we would give Tumblekids a try. The first thing I noticed was that DeeDee (the owner) was so helpful to me when I called to ask about their offerings. She seemed genuinely interested in helping me find the right placement for my daughter. She invited my daughter to a trial class so she could evaluate her. I watched the whole class and was *really* impressed with the level of instruction I saw; without question the level of instruction was many steps above what I've seen at other gyms. I also really appreciated that they were building the girls up, while still providing corrections, rather than beating them down with what they were doing wrong. This is a breath of fresh air! I immediately signed my daughter up, and she is now so excited to be going to this new gym. If you're new to gymnastics or looking for a better experience, I highly recommend Tumblekids!
Nicole Sapienza: My daughter (now 11) has been a gymnast at Tumble Kids Watertown, since she was 18 months old. Coach DeeDee is amazing and we have had nothing but positive experiences with her, and with the school. I would definitely recommend this place, because they have helped make her into the amazing young woman she is and will continue to be!
Liz Lawson: My daughter has taken here for the last 5 years and had a great experience with the facility, coaches, and other gymnasts. Now my younger daughter has started beginner classes as well. Going great so far.
Tigist Tesema: My daughter loved her time at TumbleKids when she was 3 years old turning 4 and the staff were very nice to her and treated us well. Hope she can go again in the future.
Kemet Crayton: My family did not have a very pleasant experience with Tumble Kids of Water Town. To keep it short, Instructors used insensitive words when referring to a 6 year tumble skill. Later when my child felt discourage and unwelcome, we were met by an email calling out her behavior. We wanted Tumble Kids to at the very least acknowledge their part in the matter since words can effect young kids differently but they refused and were met by unapologetic, "apology emails" with a rude tone. As a parent this was a very disheartening to read and to furthermore explain to my child especially since before she was loved before and this sudden switch up must of stemmed from this comment. Parents please be mindful and pay attention to words that are used towards you children
Yulia Dumov: My daughter has been going to TumbleKids Watertown for a few years. She started practicing two hours a week, and very quickly was in pre-team and than a team. It is very rewarding to see her progress and staying fit.
casey fryer sweeney: We have been at TumbleKids Watertown for about 8 years and are very happy here! Great coaching staff - DeeDee and Kelsey are super dedicated to teamwork, safety and fun. They were exceptional through covid, keeping the kids engaged virtually and worked hard to allow a safe and healthy return to the gym in-person.
Abraham Lateiner: Tumblekids is a great place where our kids have been able to grow and learn so much. Thanks to all the staff and team that help kids to develop their skills and confidence!
Caroline Kelley: My 6 year old daughter loves going to Tumble Kids on Wednesday! The staff does a great job working with the kids. Love being apart of the gym family! (Allyson McCusker)
TumbleKids Watertown: Tumblekids will be releasing Sept 2020 schedule soon!Register online at Tumblekidswatertown.comRegister during Early Bird Savings week and we will waive the annual registration fee this savings will only run August 10-15th!
Karen Riek: The kids love it! Its small but full of energy!
Gayle Flaherty: Really good gym
Matt Carmichael: My wife signed our son up for a Saturday class online. We received notification that day, that our payment was received. Two days later we got an email stating that in fact the class was filled and that he is not in the session. Nothing like telling a four year old he is going to be doing Tumble Kids with his friends and then watching him cry when we have to inform him that it's not going to happen. Thanks Tumble Kids! Was told over the phone that in fact the class was already filled 3 days before but the information was never entered into the online enrollment. Again, looking forward to explaining that to a 4 year old. Was told on the phone that their was a spot in the 9 am class. Asked if they could hold it, until I could talk to my son. Was told 'not without payment', I responded "even with your mistake" was told "Nope". Gee thanks. After receiving this 'oh well' treatment on the phone, felt the need to post this as warning. If anyone from Tumble Kids reads these reviews, my contact details are on file. Please contact, if you would like to discuss this matter further.

Cambridge Athletic Club: what do users think?
Joseph Brassard: Been working out here since about 2019. Generally pretty happy with it. Helpful and available staff when you have questions or want your billing receipt. If you do want to cancel, there's a 2 month transition window but that's it: nothing like the big chain gyms.Five power racks are great, but during rush hour expect them all to be taken up. Like all gyms, there's an issue of people just sitting staring at their phone for 10 minutes between sets, doing nothing. Or super-setting half the machines in the gym. They have put up signs asking people to be respectful but I haven't seen any behavior changes in this.Going off hours is much less busy, but then you have to deal with the cleaning staff mopping right around your feet. Trying to squat when you have slippery floors isn't very safe at all, I've had to start getting a towel from the front desk to dry the floor to I don't kill myself. Cleaning staff should stay away from anyone using a squat rack, including the area near the sides where we change weights, otherwise it's just a slippery mess. The main negative and my reason for only four stars is access. Before COVID, we could walk right in the First Street or the Linksey Way entrance. During covid the building locked the Linksey way entrance, which is annoying as you have to walk around the block to the front. However, they eventually locked the front entrance, too. Gym members don't have access badges to the outside door, so we had to ring the visitor doorbell. That was annoying enough, but now they not only make you ring the door bell but have to speak to the security guard. The intercom is completely unintelligible and you have to shout 'I'm going to the gym!' to be let inside. Not a great experience during winter, or in the rain, since you are not covered. They really need to make getting inside easier. The gym is a tenant of the building, we should be granted come/go access through all doors without having to wait for security to buzz us in.
Lindsay Teliska: I recently joined this gym and I love it! They have a variety of machines/equipment and it never seems too crowded. A lot of workout classes and access to squash courts, a basketball court, saunas etc come with membership. I also like the rewards program!
Mark Ceglio: Great gym with some excellent amenities! Always clean and not too crowded. Friendly staff. They offer a lot of deals and reward opportunities
Allison Looney: The facility at 215 First St. is roomy with lots of equipment, including a women-only studio, so I rarely have to wait to use any machine. Recently they've added new classes, so there are varied options for cardio, flexibility and balance exercises. The staff and other members are friendly and encouraging. With the help of my personal trainer weekly training sessions since December 2021 I've lost 35 pounds. I'm feeling good and I look forward to continuing to improve my health with the support of the CAC community.
Dan O'Connor: Been going here for a couple months. The gym is great - plenty of equipment, not too crowded, friendly staff. Can’t ask for more in a gym
yang hu: Small but compact gym with 5 power racks and two weightlifting platforms, which are very nice. I go to CAC during rush hours but always can find a rack. They allow me to use chalk! It is a big bonus to me, maybe it is the main reason I still go here even living far away from here.
Abigail Buckley: great facility for a reasonable price! the women's only fitness studio was a big sell for me
tommydoherty42: One of the best gyms in the area
Tushar Bahl: I came to this gym from June 2021 - July 2022. Only reason I left was due to moving to a new state. I wish I could still come to this place! It is incredibly well-kept and offers a lot to do. I came for weightlifting and they offered more than enough equipment for my desired goals, though they also offered squash, basketball, crossfit, and fitness classes. During peak hours between 5pm - 6pm the gym was busy, but you could get a squat rack or a deadlift pad within 5 minutes of waiting. I always saw someone pass by cleaning the floors, which was a nice touch, and cleaning wipes were always in a convenient reach. I had a great experience here and will miss it!
Biella Coleman: I had such HIGH hopes for this gym since it is right around the corner from where I live and has a great sauna. There are lots of good things about it but the woman's steam room is full of mold and it is right next door to the sauna. I am quite sensitive to mold so I am unable to join after trying out the day pass. I would consider if they truly fixed it by removing the tiles and cleaning the mold that is likely grown behind the tiles. I've never seen such a bad mold problem in a stream room before: it was smelly and visible. I am glad that fixing the steam room is in the fix list but it smelled musty and the black discoloration is often normal in the grout but it was beyond the grout and on the tile and that should wipe off. Mold is nothing to mess around with especially in basements and when there are ducts and vented air. I will certainly consider once the steam room has been fixed.
Andrew Ekladious: Amazing club, I usually go for squash and working out. The courts are great and they have enough equipment and good variety of machines. Recommend especially if you want a good gym to go to after work.
Ava French: The instructors & the equipment are great. Carla is the best. Wifi isn’t fantastic though
Mark DiRocco: Very clean and nice gym! I can tell they really care about their clients. Nice and quiet during off hours as well.
Michael Brazile: Great gym, plenty of space and machines. Wonderful friendly staff that also take the mask mandate seriously and enforce it. The majority of people follow the rules and wear their masks, but there's a minority that try and play games. Just flag these selfish jerks and management will be on them - a few people have had their memberships suspended for repeatedly unmasking. So if you've been someone concerned about returning to a gym due to COVID, CAC Anthenaeum is about as good as it gets.
Mark Winderlich: Positive:Communication,ProfessionalismGreat composition of basketball court, squash court, cross-fit box, gym and freestyle area! Friendly reception, great trainers. Very clean and no waiting times at fitness machines! Great place!
Farzaneh Khajouei: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality* It is clean and orderly, we usually see cleaning staff taking care of the environment* They have complete set of weight lifting equipments and cardio machines* Plenty of equipment and we never had to wait for anything
Frank Garrett: I love how I am always greeted when entering and farewelled on my way out.
Kyle Wiant: Great equipment, friendly staff, well-maintained.
Aly Dunnington: Staff are friendly and the equipment is consistently cleaned. This location has a great variety of equipment available, convenient location, and large locker rooms.
Mike Gould: Best gym to workout in the Kendall Square area! Equipment is up to date and clean. Love it here!
Lindita Veli: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
