MayKayla Rhoten: I booked through Avis specifically because their website said i could rent a car with a debit card. I got to the counter and the lady with the Karen cut was rude as hell to begin with. She couldnt find my reservation and when i asked if she could help me figure it out, she replied with "nuh uh" and walked back into her office. I sat outside for a while trying to figure it out myself. I found my confirmation number and she asked me for a credit card. I told her i only had a debit card and online it said i could use one. She asked me if i had a flight going out and when i replied no, she told me she couldnt help me. My car broke down, hense the need for a rental. Instead i got no help, lost $200, and still have no car. It's glorious. 0/10. I only gave one star because zero wasnt an option.

Brandon Grieve: The vehicle I received absolutely reeked of marijuana. Right when you open the door, the smell was overwhelming. This was for business travel where I had to transport coworkers. Because I was under a tight time crunch when I arrived, I didn't have time (nor was there an attendant close by) to change cars, so I had to deal with it. It was awful and quite embarrassing, as my coworkers clearly noticed it and made comments. I will not be renting from AVIS again until they find a way to fix this.

The next problem is they don't accept cash, bank debit or deposit only credit cards and airline tickets. Told me because they have had fraud in the past. WOW that sounds illegal but what does that have to do with me? Most credit cards have a limit what are you going to do Avis? Give them bad credit or maybe you have invested in credit card companies? This was a shocker to me because I never knew things had changed from my last rental in 2008. I had a vehicle that my daily driver but it was not a gas saver. So to help with admission to the environment why don't I just rent a car. I was going to get a cashier's check from my bank in a different state to purchase a house in Cash. I have never had a credit card in my whole life? I'm not buying credit and why use credit when I have cash NOW. I guess I can add you to the list.

Arnaud Bertrand: Worst car rental ever, here's my experience.I'm a foreigner travelling in the US. I booked a car at that location via Expedia, paid for everything in advance.First thing they ask me is if I have a credit card: I say no, I have a debit card (credit cards aren't common in my country). They tell me that means they'll need to DOWNGRADE me, give me a worse car than the one I ordered and paid for. And that was just the start...Then they tell me they'll need to take a $500 deposit on my debit card. I tell them fine, I run my card through the magnetic strip but it gets declined for some reason...So they tell me: sorry sir, we can't give you a car. So I ask them to reimburse me. But they won't do that either: they tell me they can't reimburse me, I need to try my luck with Expedia.After I left the store, extremely frustrated, I contact my bank to figure out why my card got declined. Turns out I had a $400 limit for magnetic strip payments. I ask my bank to increase the limit, which they do.I then go back to the store and tell them to retry to get the $500 from my card. The response: sorry, company policy, we can only try once every 24 hours. Utterly ridiculous!So here I am: I have a car I booked and paid for in full, a debit card that works from which they can get a $500 deposit but for some incomprehensible reason they won't give me the car. And they won't reimburse me either for what I paid for. This is basically a scam.And now, not only do I NOT have the car I counted on for my trip in the US but I still have to pay for it...Absolutely terrible car rental place, avoid at all costs!

Kostas Zafiriou: San Jose, CA: $15 admin fee for $6 tolls. Customer associate never mentioned it upfront. No transponder offered with the car. No option to pay cash/credit card while crossing the San Fransisco bridges. So be careful!! Read the fine print when you rent from Thrifty, even at 11pm when you are tired from a long flight.
Wallace Bachman: I made a reservation for a car about two weeks ahead of time. When I got to the location, they were closed *and had been for over a month*. It took several calls to reach a Thrifty agent, who then told me to take hires car to their location with a Park Plaza address in Boston but located on another street. They did reimburse the expense, but no one should have to work so hard to pick up a reserved car.
Jyl Phillips: I called ahead to make sure they'd be open on Sundays and they said yes. When we got there we couldn't even find them because it didn't say they were located inside of a hotel lobby. We tried calling and it just went to voicemail. We finally found it after circling the building for 20 minutes and there was no one there. The hotel employee said she'd gone to lunch & he called her to let her know we were there. She could've at least left a note on the door!So we had to wait 30 minutes for her to return. She said she gave me a free upgrade on our car and when we went out to get it there was ONLY one car available!!! I will never rent from them again!

Samadoon: Great customer service, lots of smile and quick service. We decided very late to rent cars for the week of 4th July holiday. Most places were sold out or their prices were prohibitive. However, this location thanks to Ms. Malyun, (lady at the front desk) we were able to get 2-new camrey’s with less than 10k mileage and very reasonable price. She is the best and we will be definitely going back to do business again.

At first it looked like there wasn't going to be a reasonably priced car at Thrifty, and I thought I would have to go to Logan to get something, but Malyun was able to make it happen for me at a lower price than what I had booked at Hertz!

Nicole Sammey: THIS LOCATION DOES NOT HONOR COMPANY POLICY!! My Fiancé, who is a member of their Blue Chip Program, reserved a car on a Tuesday for this location. We have previously rented from the airport location USING A DEBIT CARD WITH NO ISSUE! Upon arriving at this location, the woman at the front desk tells him that he cannot use a debit card. Now, this is a complete surprise, since I personally checked their debit card policy on THEIR OWN WEBSITE and it states that debit cards may be used by Thrifty Blue Chip members as long as it is on their Blue Chip profile! The woman then says she has been their 17 years and never has she seen a debit card accepted. OK..that's all fine and dandy.. BUT WHY DOES IT NOT STATE THAT ON UR OWN COMPANIES FREAKING WEBSITE!! Needless to say after much time wasted, she did absolutely NOTHING to remedy the error and I will be calling corporate, following up with the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and anything else I feel is necessary!

This is not the case in Europe. Also, was told to buy a full tank of gas for the journey I had planned. Only needed a third of it in the end.

The Russian (The Russian): What can I say? I travel for business and pleasure. I needed a mid size SUV got a cx5 rental a week prior.. come pick up day, they didn't have a cx5 ready big woop got a "free" upgrade to a Kia Sedona fine. Now here comes the fun part. Come home to find out there's a slow leak on the front right tire, windshield wipers are shot and the car is not fully cleaned. 🤦‍♂️ Okay let's call the actual location phone number to go through 15 steps of ai software phone greeting to be put on hold and no one answers for two days (Saturday and Monday).Now dropping off the vehicle is a painless experience as though YOU park the car at the garage hopefully find an open spot and then check out .The elder gentleman that checked me out and was quite understanding, comped me for a day for the trouble .I mean if you're in a pinch in Cambridge and can't find a rental? Go for it, be weary of what you get though with your "free" Upgrade
Nagaraj N: Gave us a vehicle with completely worn out rear tires. Had a flat tire 50 miles out on a week long trip. Could have been deadly! Then wasted half a day waiting for Budget road service that never arrived and driving to another location to exchange vehicle. Icing on the cake, charged for a full tank of gas for the original vehicle for 100 miles usage!
Angel Alvarez: They canceled the reservation after being 8 minutes late (literally). The store was then marked as sold out, and I was left without a car. The national customer service line was no help. They are supposed to hold the car for 24 hours to honor reservations. Renters beware. Avoid this location.

Extremely unprofessional and rude staff, they open and close the facility as they wish and won’t process car returns on time. Jason Crist: The first car that we were given was dented in several places. Not little dings either a long dent down one whole side for example. The pink sheet showed no recorded damage. We had to walk back to the counter and refuse the car. Both cars were disgustingly filthy. There was human spit dried to the outside of the first on both sides and the windows on the second were so bad that I had to stop and buy glass cleaner and paper towels just to see. Is this what is expected from Budget customers? Budget has a great backstory and used to have a great reputation. I'm very disappointed.

Samuel: It works fine 80% of the time, but service here seems to have been getting worse and worse in recent years. I reserved a sedan, but they "upgraded" me to a minivan since they ran out of economy cars, which is not really an upgrade since it is less fuel-efficient and can be awkward to drive in tight city streets. Seems to defeat the point of the reservation if they cannot honor it. And then I find that the vehicle only has 1/4 tank of gas left, which they had neglected to inform me while checking out!
Abby McGee: Definitely the worst Budget location of all time. Always a super long line and some of the staff are very rude. They WILL try to scam you for gas, tolls, late returns, etc approx every other time, but the customer service line will help if you take photos. Keep coming back because it’s the only one nearby, but seriously take a photo of starting and ending gas/mileage with time stamps because you will need to fight random extra charges!

Johannes Kalliauer: -Website offers GPS, but Cars didn't had GPS.-Money paid for GPS is called "non-refundable Prepay"-Kia-Car was not at all similar to Volkswagen Golf. I'm okay if something unexpected happed and I get a similar car, but not having any car ready 1,5hours after I had booked my car is incacceptable, expecially because it was not mine.
Chris Toy: Staff was extremely helpful and professional. However the car I received was not washed and extremely filthy. I had to pay $18 to get it washed myself which was a major inconvenience. The tank was only 3/4 full as well which delayed my trip even further. Price and staff were great. If they can do better at the time of pick up, would be 4-5 stars.

The CAR PLAY was not working at all. Even the owner/manager of the rental location couldn't figure out. I have used other rental companies, never faced this issue. I booked compact/economy so that I can save on gas, and I was given Full Size SUV which was such a poor mileage option. This is the worst experience in many life for rental.

I tried to contact customer support about the issue and they were not able to provide any evidence that I had somehow managed to incur such high tolls, yet they did not reverse the charge.

Kyia J: Unfortunately, my experience at this place was terrible. I had planned a trip to see a friend on saturday 2/11. I was under the impression that I was all set to rent a car after speaking to a very nice lady named Shannon on the phone a few days prior to my reservation. I thought it was great that they were double checking my confirmation. I briefly explained my situation with her over the phone in accordance to my temporary license. I also double confirmed with the RMV about the validity of my temporary license. To explain, my temporary license is a government issued piece of paper that may say "Class D Permit" at the top; However, it was interchangeable to a temporary license as stated on the "government issued document". So when I walked in at 9:00am, thinking I am all set, the lady at the front desk refused my temporary license because it said "permit" on it. Yet, it was no longer a permit, it was a temporary license. I was given authorization by RMV that the permit was now my "temporary license" and was also validated by the examiner on that paper. Meaning I had the right to drive by myself with that active temporary license. Additionally, I had all other supporting documents on hand to prove that I had an active license. Which, is stated on the Enterprise website. All in all, I think that the Enterprise website and the people that work at the Enterprise on River street in Cambridge should be a little bit more thorough with the information they provide instead of wasting peoples time. I would've never made the reservation with this place if my documents were not going to be accepted especially if it states that it will on your website. This is a caution to all those that carry any type of temporary license do not go to this enterprise. Try the one on commonwealth ave. As they were a lot more helpful.Best.

Caroline Klam: I could not be happier with the experience I had renting a car from the Enterprise location in Central Square in Cambridge MA. I rented a car for just a day while I was visiting in Boston - they didn't have the compact I had requested, but gave me a larger car which was very nice . . . the only problem - that someone had smoked in the car previously - wasn't obvious until I had driven off and started the heater. I pointed this out when I returned the car and they all checked it out, were very apologetic and addressed the issue with me. I had trouble connecting my phone to the car's system and Dean was very patient in helping me make it work. Jovi was alone with a line of people when I came to pick-up the car early on Sunday, she was efficient, patient and cheerful in getting all of us on the road quickly. Everyone was professional, efficient and just plain nice in meeting my needs - I will rent from them anytime I return to Boston.

Ashley Tenczar Curran: This is the first time I've ever given any location or any type of business only one star. That's because the Hertz rental guy was nice enough to drive me to the subway as I was bawling my eyes out. I called the reservation line and told them specifically that I have issues with reading terms of agreement and other issues so that's why I'm calling them. She put a $500 hold on my debit card, told me to bring my ID Etc but I'm guessing remember your credit score is going to be obtained would definitely be another vital thing you might need to know. There were three customers behind me and two out of three were shocked that they actually run your credit check at the counter when they could do it on the phone saving me the $40 trip I took Uber across Boston because I can't take the subway. It is and was so hard to take the subway back because I didn't have the money to make another Uber trip. You need to think about your customers. You need to understand that although you're making millions off of us, perhaps a little compassion now and then is a good idea.

It's true that they can get overwhelmed at peak hours and there is sometimes a bit of a wait, but that's true everywhere right now. I can't really fault them for that. Kathryn Langan: I had an excellent experience with the Somerville Hertz. There were no 7 passenger SUVs available at the airport so I picked up from this location and dropped off at the airport. One of the team members, Brian, was incredibly helpful. I called to ask about car seat availability. Brian gave me the brand and model so we could verify whether one of my children would fit in a seat or booster. I ended up needing another booster which they did not have. Brian said he would call other locations to see if he could find one. Within minutes he called back - he had found a booster and arranged to go pick it up from the other location to bring to Somerville to be ready for my arrival. He went above and beyond my expectations. When I got to the location they had also upgraded my vehicle. It was a little tricky maneuvering the actual location's parking lot, but other than that minor detail I had a great experience at this Hertz.

shashank shet: All the cars at this place are in a really bad condition. The first rental I picked looked like it needs maintenance and the parts could fall off anytime. When I asked for another car, they said did not have any and I should be calling all other Hertz offices to see if they have a car available. The second rental I picked up made some metal noise every time I went over 40. Bad cars. Bad customer service.
jacqueline writer: Bad cars. Bad staff. Rude staff. I got a ticket because one car was defective. I took it back. I had it two days. It was an economy car. Hertz changed me $420 for the two days. Then they gave me another car that had ,3 flat tires ,- two on the same day. They refused to give me another car or they said they didn't have one. I list a lot of time and money renting from them. In my opinion, Hertz is the worst of the major rental companies.

Benjamin Patton-Hock: Rented from them a couple times. Experience is the same as always. My car went into the shop and i needed something to get me to work. I rented a luxury class car and they gave me a HUGE infiniti QX80. The guy apologized for it being the only car i could have but i don’t find it that hard to simply put more cars in your inventory. Now i have to pay double on gas and drive something that personally feels wrong to drive. Next time i’ll try their medford location because it seems their location has a better selection.
Aaron: Management was in a bad mood and the pick up wasn’t conveniently processed. The manager asked “where’s your mask?” while he didn’t have one on himself.
David Farhi: Although we had a reservation, when we arrived they said they had given away our car and didn't have any more.
James Metheny: Would give this location 10 stars if I could. My insurance rented two vehicles through Hertz and the original locations both flaked on me with the reservations. The other locations either sold out or wouldn't honor what they set up with my insurance despite having a confirmation. A few associates at this location came through not once, but twice, and made sure I would at least have a vehicle. They even made a few accommodations to make it happen. Some issues seem to be with the Hertz system in general but I appreciate the team here that helped me out.

Stephen Flores: Tyronne Grant, who assisted me in pick up and drop off of my car is the BOMB! He is professionalism at it's best -- he displayed it with compassion and humanity when I made a mistake. He took a stressful call from me after office hours and was able to resolve my issue. I will definitely come back to this location.
Jenn Y.: As a Preferred member, I loved how my rental car keys and paperwork are always ready for me at the counter. Quick and easy pickup. I’ve gotten a relatively new Honda Accord, Nissan Sentra, and Mitsubishi Outlander from this location. The employees at this location are patient and friendly.Sometimes the cars here aren’t perfect. I’ve gotten cars that have low washer fluid, low FOB battery, smoke odor…so something is off with their inspection process. Just walk back to the front desk to report it and they will swap you out for another car.Drop-off was easy by parking it anywhere on the 6th floor in the garage and returning the keys back at the front desk.

Pep: They have bad reviews for a reason.If you return overnight they would charge you and extra day even if you are within your reservation time plus a fee.Cars are dirty and smell bad.They charge $10 per gallon if you are below but wont return you a penny if you return it with more.I recommend you to rent from the Enterprise nearby instead . Cleaner cars and no hidden fees or surprises.
R C: Friendly and professional staff. Absolutely a delight to rent from this location. The car was very clean and in excellent condition. Tyrone Grant at the counter helped my son who was renting for the first time at this location. He patiently answered all of his questions in a genuinely friendly manner. Renting and return was a breeze.
HP Gmail Chang: I rent from Avis regularly, but this is the worst experience. I picked up the car from 350 Mass Ave Cambridge rental center and found the car dirty inside and out. The dashboard maintenance warning sign was on but the agent in the office told us to ignore. We took it on the highway and the car was vibrating in an unusual way, we checked the tires, and all were completely worn, with almost no thread remaining. The forecast showed rain for the next few days and we didn't feel safe with this rental so we called Avis, an agent reserved a car at the nearest Avis office in Peabody Mass and told us to swap out the car there. 5 min after the reservation was made, the Peabody manager Vladimir Ashminov called to inform me that there is no inventory in Peabody b/c the reservation desk made a mistake and I should not show up. I checked my mobile app and Peabody had inventory and I had no issue booking a reservation for same day pick up. I called back the Avis general # (impossible to get to Peabody office directly) and reported the issue, but was passed around from A to B to C. Finally a helpful agent from "emergency road side service" tracked down Vladimir, but the story had changed somewhat -- Vladimir said he was not at the Peabody office, but thought the inventory was low.At this point, I was very frustrated of the process (the Emergency Roadside Service woman was the ONLY helpful person so far), and decided to drive to Peabody anyway. We showed up and there was a van available for us to do our swap. Jennifer was nice enough to process the paperwork for us to swap cars.So, I'm still puzzled whether Vladimir just didn't want to deal with a problem car hence the lie, or Avis' reservation system is so unreliable for tracking inventory? Either way, it was an unacceptable experience. $730 for a 5-day rental, I expect better from Avis.

Wang Shiwei: I have been renting from this location for the past two years. Every time the process was very straightforward and I never encountered bad car conditions or unexpected charges. This location also offers after hour drop off which the Harvard location does not have. There is a line to pick up sometimes, but usually the wait is under 15 minutes. The staff is very friendly and flexible in the cars they offer too!
Gina G: Dirty vehicles, smelled really bad, window shield smudgy, they really do not wash their vehicle. I see no real sign that they actually use soap and water. Also while waiting to get my vehicle the clerk was talking to another customer who was dissatisfied about her vehicle because it smelled. They need to start charging people for cigarette smell and inspect the vehicle after the rental.
Johanna Lee: Terrible experience overall. First of all, the employee at the rental desk did not explain any of the regular procedures. I had to ask many clarifying questions and was even then met with dismissive answers that made me feel he was just trying to get me out the door. Perhaps it was inadequate staffing but when he’s already printing the rental agreement when I’m trying to clarify things, it looks and feels rude. Second, the car we rented was dirty on the inside when we walked over to find our car - clearly had not been checked or cleaned before being rented to us with dirt stains on the car seats and leftover paperwork from prior renters. Third, when we returned the car to the parking garage overnight - which the employee in the morning had told us we should do - I then got charged for two days worth of rental car because Avis did not “check in” the car until that afternoon even though it had been sitting there in their own garage overnight. Of course, then I called Avis customer service to explain this situation. The employee told me they would resolve it without issues. However, I then received a series of automated emails saying they couldn’t adjust the charges from two to one day. I replied a couple times only to get more automated emails. This whole experience has made me never want to rent from Avis again, or at least never this Cambridge location ever again.
Tarek Ebrahim: Management and staff at the 350 Mass Ave, Cambridge MA are of the highest level of customer service. They are friendly, considerate and helpful. They understand customer loyalty as I am a preferred member and act on it.

Such a great location to rent from.Descent prices.
Jonathan Danial: Terrible experience. Booked a car for pickup on 12/30 at 2PM. Arrived at 1:45. Immediately noticed that there were 8 or so customers sitting or standing around. There were two employees behind the desk, a female and male talking to each other. I approached the female at the counter, gave her my CC and ID, and told her that I had a reservation at 2. She said that they had no cars available and that she would put me on a “waiting list”. She told me that it would be at least an hour wait. I soon realized that some people had been waiting for more than 2 hours for a car. We were number 9 in line. Over the course of the next 90 minutes, we saw one frustrated customer after the other interact with both employees. Both lacked any empathy and showed that they could care less about the customer. At one point, I asked the male behind the counter how them not having any cars happened. I didnt fully understand what he was saying, but he was basically blaming his manager (who he noted was on vacation) for messing up the numbers.We eventually cancelled the reservation and went over to Logan Airport, and rented from National.
